While we count down to the release of S4, I just wanted to let people know that they should check out Volume 2 of the What We Create in the Shadows zine while it’s still available. There’s so many gorgeous pieces of fanart and fascinating interviews in there, but I especially want to draw attention to a small detail in the interview with Harvey because he gave us Guillermo’s theme songs for season 4!

More info below the cut – I am only providing minimum detail on the interview itself because you should absolutely buy the zine. Proceeds are going to a very worthy cause with Refugees International.

The first song he suggested was Save Your Tears - The Weeknd, Ariana Grande

[What Harvey Said]: "’Save, your, tears for another day’… You might have a couple moments where you might have to sing that song, because otherwise you’ll just… you’ll fall apart.”

Let’s look at some more lyrics…

“You look so happy when I’m not with you”?

“I kept my distance ‘cause I know that you

Don’t like when I’m with nobody else”???

 “I realize that it’s much too late

And you deserve someone better”!!??

 Season 4 is sounding way more angsty than I anticipated...

The second song he suggested was Both Sides Now – Joni Mitchell

[What Harvey Said]: "’I really don’t know clouds at all.’ It’s just like assumptions of what you think life is, and the aspirations of what you think life should be, and just to be reminded that clouds shift and clouds change, and sometimes... you know nothing about life.”

It’s a very poetic song (a good choice!) so I’ll largely let the lyrics speak for themselves…

Most prominently there are themes of life ending up drastically different from what you expected, and also specifically love turning out very different from how you expected. These could allude to Guillermo’s ongoing Vampire vs Slayer journey as well as how his relationships are going to change.

I really can’t wait to come back to these after the end of S4!

I've posted the fic I wrote for What We Create in the Shadows Vol. 3! In it, Guillermo helps Laszlo out with a little old-timey surgery. And as a special bonus, this version contains a little extra gore that got cut from the zine version for space!
