One of my cousins in Yangon sent me this photo of her Ah-Tar-Oh (အတာအိုး) today.

We Burmese place flowers in these pots to welcome in our New Year known as Thingyan. Thingyan started today, but there is nothing to celebrate, as the death toll from the military airstrikes in Kanbalu earlier this week is now at 168, including 21 primary school children. I wish Myanmar could see a happy new year again.

The 19-year-old girl in the photo was named Ma Kyae Sin. Kyae Sin is Burmese word for star. 

Wearing a black shirt that says “Everything will be okay”, she stood as frontliner in Mandalay protest. Unfortunately, her fate ended. She got headshot and passed away instantly. 

She lived up like a beautiful star in our eyes. Strong-willed and determined. A brave lovely star.

You did a lot, my sister. Your efforts will never be forgotten.

March 27, 2021. People came from across the United States for the weekly protests at key embassies in Washington DC. These embassies belong to governments which may supply weapons to or support the junta which has overthrown the 80% democratically elected leaders, murdered 423 civilians, and detained 2428. This coup happened February 1, 2021. March 26, 100 unarmed civilians were murdered, including a 5 year old child.

322 students were arrested and still detained in Insein prison until today. They are sued with penal code 505(A) for attempt of treason. They cannot be charged with a crime they never committed.

On August 10th 2021,

Myanmar military raided an apartment room in 44th street, Yangon where 7youths stayed together. (For the reason of being suspected doing the movements to oppose the junta)

5 of them jumped off from the building & sacrificed their lives as they didn't want to get tortured and reveal the information about others.

The remaining 2 were viciously beaten by the junta thugs, covered their heads with clothes and were abducted.

One of them who jumped off was a girl and also a mother. She left her daughter who's only 1yr old.

Rest in power, our fallen stars! We will never forget your sacrifices! We will never forgive those military thugs.

-Anti-coup thingyan pot(a-tar-o) strike. A-tar-o is a traditional clay pot which is always set during Thingyan(Myanmer New Year Festival) period.

-Motorcycle strike in Sagaing.

-Mandalay: Protesters showed condemnation towards the slow progress of UN and Russia and China(the countries which are on Myanmar terrorists’s side).

-Terrorists attacked Tamu, Sagaing State since 6am. The locals had to hide in "Grace" hospital and a methodist church due to constant gunshots. One of innocent people who passed away on that day was a 7-year-old girl. It was reported that she was hit by a bullet while walking with her mother.

-Mayangone, Yangon: Country/rural life strike occured as protesters donning farmer hats and carrying a-tar-o expressed rejection to the coup.

-Yay City, Mon State: Terrorists set fire to the monastery because the monk abbot didn’t let them camp in the monastery.

-Mon youths from Paung township staged a night protest against military dictatorship.
