Chapter 10- Uncertainty and the Test of Time.

Also if you can figure out the era of Roger I am transitioning too bonus points to you! Sorry it is so short, it was  difficult for me to write this emotionally and took a lot out of me.

The following morning you woke up, your sinuses feeling gummy and throat dry.
Glancing at the clock you made a mental note of the time, much too late for you to still be in bed. Your stomach clenched when you heard the door open and despite want to stay in the warm cocoon of your bed you felt yourself moving on your own. The sudden urge to see Roger flooded over your body and you shuffled out the bedroom, quickly thinking of some excuse you could make to be out here with him. Fluidly you moved to the kitchen and poured yourself a glass of water out of the tap.
“Hey.” You said setting your cup down and watching him set his keys on the kitchen table.
He grinned up at you “Hey,” he responded back. Your gaze watched him as he moved through the house with out much of a second thought before he retreated to his room, “Hey I’m going to be gone for a few days.” His muffled voice called.
“Where are you going to be?” You called back sitting on the kitchen table. You didn’t know if your stomach hurt from being hungry or from what you knew Roger’s answer was going to be.
He came out with a backpack slung over his shoulder “Oh, I’m going to stay at Dominique’s for a little while.”
You pursed your lips and nodded your head, Oh, well have fun.” You said flashing him a closed mouth smile.
He didn’t give you a second glance before leaving the house.
Your heart clenched, why would you be so upset over your friend leaving for a few days? Roger had his own life and you needed to respect that. Those thought played over and over in your brain for the remainder of the day and it seemed like no matter how often you thought them they never seemed to get through to you and the more you felt nauseous.
You didn’t know how many days passed until Fred had showed up pounding on your door.
You opened it and were immediately met with a grimace “You look like you haven’t left your bed in three days.” He said pushing his way past you and letting himself in to your ‘shared’ apartment.
“Well how many days has it been since Sunday?” You asked rubbing your tired and slightly swollen eyes.
“Three.” Fred said pointedly.
You plopped on the couch, “Well then you’re right.”
Your friend’s eyes narrowed as he looked at you, “What do you mean I’m right?” He said sitting next to you, “What’s got you in a funk?”
You felt his intense gaze as you averted your eyes from him, looking down at your feet and playing with the hem of your shirt. “It’s nothing.” You responded before letting out deep sigh. “What brings you over?” You asked lightly slapping your hands on your thighs.
Fred gave you a weird look, his brow eyes intently taking in every bit of your body language, “I you haven’t talked to anyone since Saturday night.” He said a light frown gracing his sharp features.
You shifted awkwardly, “Wow, crazy,” you remember your phone, sitting on your nightstand and on do not disturb, “Are you sure?” you asked knowing the answer.
Fred stood up, “Get up.” He said grabbing your limp arm and tugging you reluctantly to your feet, “Go shower and then we’ll continue talking.” He said pushing you towards the bathroom not caring you had no change of clothes.
The bathroom door shut behind you and you looked in the mirror, you really did look like shit. Your skin looked dry and dark bags hung under your eyes and your hair looked dirty. You frowned and turned the water on hot, as hot as it could go, undressed and stepped in.
The hot water soaked your body and burnt your skin, yet it didn’t hurt; it felt strangely cathartic. You inhaled deeply and let it out slowly, feeling tears beginning to well in your eyes. You covered your face with your hand and a sob wrecked through you, shaking your body and causing you to lean forward.
Your shoulders shook with sobs and your tears mixed with the water, washing away the evidence of your crying. You tried your best to curb your sobs but choked them out anyways. It hurt. Knowing Roger had sex with you and dropped you the moment he saw someone better come along. Like always, you were second best.
Your brain processed what had happened in the last few months of your life. Walking in on your boyfriend Harrison, breaking up with him, moving in with Roger, becoming a cam girl, having sex with Roger a lot, sharing soft intimate moments with him, and now sitting here on the floor of your shower crying with your knees into your chest as the cold water ran out.
This was a new low moment to say the least.
A knock on the door shook you from your endless thoughts, you sniffed and rubbed your face before standing up, “What?” You called back.
“What’s taking you so long? There’s no way you still have hot water.” Fred shouted back.
He was right, you didn’t and you hadn’t even started washing yourself. You suffered through the cold water and washed your hair and body, cleaning it of the filth and emotions.
As soon as you had your towel wrapped around you Fred opened the door and tossed a bottle of his nice moisturizer at you, “You always feel better after you moisturize.” He said and shut the door one again.
He was right, your skin looked dewy and no longer crusted with sleep and sweat. You felt clean like a breath of fresh air, but your mind continued to remind you of how alone you were in this apartment. The two of you sat on your couch once again, this time you were clean and in fresh clothes.
Freddie splayed his hands on his pants, “So,” He started out, “When were you going tell me that you and Roger have been sleeping together?”
You felt like the wind had been knocked out of you “What are you talking about?” You asked trying to hide your nerves.
“I saw a picture. I know what the both of you look like naked it isn’t hard to tell.”
Heat crept up the back of your neck and spread from your face to the tips of your ears and your mouth opened and closed as you tried to find your words, “Is that what this is all about?” Freddie asked maintaining his intense gaze.
You averted your gaze from his and stared hard at the floor. Fred grabbed you and forced you look at him, “Listen, [Y/N], Dominique is a manipulative witch that knows how to wrap Roger around her finger” You stared into his intense brown eyes, “She doesn’t have shit on you and never will.” He let go of your face and you didn’t move, “She sweeps in and sinks her dirty claws into Roger’ soft heart and takes advantage of him.” He picked some lint off his pants and paused before he continued, “No one likes her.” He added.
You took Freddie’s words to heart, he seemed genuine and you had already learned previously that Dom was not well liked among the boys. At the end of the week Roger returned, presumably to get a new bag of clothes.
To say you were shocked to see him was honestly an understatement. You gaped at him when he walked through the door “What the fuck happened to your hair?” You asked looking at him.
His long choppy hair was now short and wild on his head, Roger rushed past you, “Do you like it? Dominique said it looked better this way.” He said moving to his room.
You couldn’t help but follow him and lean on his doorway, “Dominique told you to cut your hair short so you did?” your voice was laced with disbelief.
Roger glanced back and you and nodded his head, “Yeah.”
You rubbed your face with your hand, “Do you know how insane that sounds? She is literally telling you how to dress, Roger.” You frowned deeply, “What happened to changing your clothes three times a day and not wearing the same pair of shoes every week, or waking up an two hours before you need to open the store to style your hair.”
Roger didn’t look back at you and continued to stuff clothes into his duffle bag, “I know, but that isn’t efficient.”
An audible scoff left your mouth, “Efficient?” You gaped at him, “Since when did you care about efficiency?”
Roger’s head whipped towards you, “Since when did you care about what I do with my life?” He said, a nasty tone dripping from his words.
You didn’t like this. Not one bit. “What is that supposed to mean?” You asked following with your arms crossed over your chest.
Roger turned on his heel and looked at you, “It is supposed to mean that you shouldn’t care about the other women in my life.”
You clenched your fists, “Roger, Dominique doesn’t care about you and by the end of next week you’ll be back here sulking in your room and bitter like you first were.”
Roger clenched his teeth, his blue eyes now ignited with fire, “Why do you care? We aren’t together and we never were. Get over it.” He hissed before slamming the door behind him.
Your stomach tightened as his words as they rammed into you like a truck. Your mind flashed back to the moments to intimate to be just sex.
Roger cupped your face as you clung to him, your body trembling as he leaned against your headboard with you on his lap. He kissed your face, your nose, eyes, and cheeks. “God, you are so fucking beautiful.” He said pressing his lips fully against yours as the two of you clung to each other.
---
You laid your head in Roger’s lap as the two of you laid across the couch while some shitty movie played in the background. You had a bowl of popcorn in your lap and threw pieces as Roger tried to catch them, every time he missed, they would lightly plop on your face. You didn’t care about the salty butter dirtying your skin. Roger awkwardly craned his head down, his long dyed hair framing the sides of your face and tickling the skin. Your nose scrunched and Roger laughed softly before kissing the tip of your nose.
---
Another night at the bar, spent dancing until it was either very early or very late. The two of you clung to each other with an arm wrapped around the other’s waist, your steps swaying and causing the two of you to stumble and laugh.
---
The first time Roger slept in your bed; you woke up to his already wild hair looking now untamable while soft snores left slightly ajar mouth. You brushed his hair back and he pulled you into his chest as he kissed your shoulder and buried his face into your back.
These moments were far too intimate to be just sex or to be just two friends. Your brain felt muddied; did he not feel the same? Did he still think of this as a business arrangement?
You felt dizzy from all of the questions that flooded your brain and soon began to feel helpless.
If Freddie was right, Roger would be back within the next week saying ‘you were right [y/n]’
But until then, your feelings could only stand against the test of time and uncertainty.

Claire ran from behind one car to another staying low and quiet. Looking around, she lets out a sigh of relief when there aren’t any zombies around her. Sliding down to the ground Claire leans her back against the tire of the car. Huffing a bit, catching her breath Claire looks up at the night sky trying to remember the way to the Police Station.
Looking around again she heard a can roll away and a groan soon after. Claire slowly moves away before quickly standing up and running in the direction of the Station. “Oh, Fuck!” Almost tripping over her own boots she skids to a stop when the small horde of zombies appear to be blocking the entrance gate. Glancing to her left Claire sees a stray pipe on the ground.
Dodging her way out of a zombie grab Claire quickly picks up the pipe and bashes it against the zombie's exposed skull. Hearing the base of the skull crack she feels the pipe go through piercing its brain making them fall to the ground. Detaching the pipe she swings it down one more time, now on the exposed brain, she sees it turn to nothing but a pink and grey mush on the concrete.
Wiping at the blood on her cheek Claire lets her guard down for a second before she grips the pipe with both hands she furrows her brows in concentration. Letting out a deep breath she didn’t realize she was holding in. Claire looked at the four maybe five zombies blocking her way to the gate. “Alright...Let’s do this!” Taking a running start Claire swings the pipe left and right, hitting them dead center on their heads either knocking them down or successfully killing them in one hit.
Sliding over to the gate she makes it in time to lock out the rest that is starting to gather around. Tossing the bloody pipe to the side she looks up at the building and silently hopes that she finds Leon or at least someone else who's alive is in the building right now.
Opening the front doors to the police station, Claire looks around carefully walking in as the doors start to close behind her. “Anyone here??” Walking down to the front desk she finds a box of ammo and a stray gun. Taking the gun she checks if it's loaded, seeing that it is she checks the ammo to see if its the same as the ones in the gun. Hearing a loud bang Claire jumps and looks around. Quickly putting the ammo in her pocket, she stays quiet waiting for a few seconds if something else will happen.
“Hello? Is anyone still here?!” Claire looks over at the small desk seeing a laptop. Going over to it she sees there’s a live feed of the building. Hearing another bang she notices it’s coming from her left. Looking for the feed on the left side of the map she finds movement near the west office. Clicking the feed Claire hears the moans and gurgling through the audio. There’s a flash and another bang sound.
Turning the corner you fire off another shot hitting the zombies leg making it fall and successfully slowing it down. Looking up at the camera in the corner of the room you see the little red light blinking signaling that someone’s looking at you through the recording. “Hey! Is someone there?! Please, if someone else is alive in here can you find me?! Im in the hallway between the weapons lockers and West Office!” Hearing banging from the door to the West Office your eyes widen when you see two more of them trying to get to you. Please! I’m looking for my little sister! Whoever you are, I’m going to hide in the dark room thats down this hallway...I don’t have much time!” Getting your gun ready you aim at the zombie at the ground that caught up to you. Firing at it’s head your shoes and part of your jeans et covered in dark sticky blood. Looking back up at the camera you see the red light fade away.  “I really hope they heard me…” Suddenly the door to the West Office bursts open making you run down the hall towards the Dark Room.
Claire watches the video feed turn to static and fade away. Quickly finding the map again, she looks for the Dark Room. “There it is!” Glancing to the side she sees a hunting knife, taking it, Claire takes another look at the map before looking around The Main Hall. “Maybe I can open that gate to get there. The doors themselves look like they’re locked….” Memorizing the path one more time Claire puts the gun in a side pouch. Gripping the handle of the knife she walks over to the taped up electrical box. Cutting away at the tape she opens the little door and presses the button. Hearing the little beep she turns to the gate seeing that its slowing rising.
Putting away the knife she looks around the room and finds more unused ammo on one of the benches. “Everyone was really in a hurry. Wasn’t this supposed to be a safe place for people to evacuate to?” Putting away the bullets, Claire takes out the gun once more and makes her way to the other door.
Carefully opening it she its a dark hallway, reaching into her pocket she takes out a small flashlight and shines it at the walls. Slowly making her way to the end of the hall, there’s a radio call coming from a body on the ground thats leaning against the wall.
Claire could tell the body was fully dead, they weren’t like the others that came back to life. Just as she was about to reach over a sound at the right made her stand up straight again. Seeing feet dangling in mid air Claire notices dry blood soaked into the socks and shoes. Panning the light upwards she sees the body’s only hanging from the persons face that’s split in half from a pipe.
Carefully moving around the body Claire continues her way through the next hallway. Turning to her right she sees double doors, remembering that this is the right way to go she reaches for the doorknob but jumps back when she hears a glass window break. Gripping the gun Claire turns to face the zombie as they’re standing up. “You have got to be kidding me...”  Aiming the gun at the zombie’s head Claire pulls the trigger seeing it burst five shots. The last shot to the head causes it to explode in a mess of blood, chunks of brain and whatever’s left of the eye balls.
Quickly reloading, Claire goes into the room and sees the door she was supposed to go through is chained up. “What the fuck is this...now where-” Stopping herself when she looks to her left and sees a storage box below a broken window. “Well, that works.” walking over to the box she carefully climbs her way up and over the window jumping down into the next room.
Staying still when she hears banging near by she realizes one of them is banding away one of the vending machines. “I guess they’re still human after all.”  Silently as possible Claire walks past the zombie and sees the West Office and Weapons Locker. “They should be at the end of the next hall I think…” Whispering to herself Claire doesn’t notice theres a zombie right around the corner.
The zombie notices her first and successfully knocksher down to the ground. Claire groans in pain when her back hits the floor. Keeping the zombies face away from her she gathers all her weight and flips them over so she’s straddling the zombie. Taking out her knife she plunges it into its head twisting it before pulling it out seeing the blood pool as it’s limbs fall to ether side of it. Breathing heavil Claire looks up seeing the zombie from the vending machine making its way towards her now.
Claire quickly gets up almost falling again in the process but she’s able to brush it off and run down the hall. Turning to her right she the Dark Room in the little corner. Sighing in premature relief she runs over to the door opening and closing it behind her. Trying to slow down her breathing Claire’s startled when the lights to the room turn on. Immediately she aims her gun at the switches direction only to find another living person on the other side of the room.
“Are you hurt? Did they bite you? Scratch you?” You looked over at Claire defensive but  if you were being honest you very relieved someone actually heard you.
“No! None of that...though I was close to getting bit but I was able to escape in time.” Claire slightly lowers her gun as she stares back at you. “What about you?”
“No.” You lowered your gun as well. “I’m (Y/n), (Y/n) Birkin.”
“Claire Redfield. You said you were looking for you sister?”
At the mention of your sister your eyes perk up as you walk closer to Claire. “Yes! Have you seen her? Her name’s Sherry she’s  twelve years old.”
Claire sadly shakes her head. “No i’m sorry. You’re the second person I’ve met  who isn’t one of those things.” Claire takes a folded up picture from her pocket and shows it to you. “You haven’t seen this guy around, have you?”
Looking at the photo of Claire with a guy that has his arm around her shoulders. They look like they’re laughing really hard over something. Shaking your head you look over at Claire. “No I’m sorry. Who is he?”
Claire softly smiles at the picture. “That’s my brother Chris. He works here as S.T.A.R.S agent for the R.P.D. I cam here looking for him. I guess you had the same idea with your sister?”
“Ah, yeah...I was coming home from college to surprise Sherry but I came just as this whole thing started getting too out of hand. I immediately went home but Sherry wasn’t there by the time I was able to get in. The only clue I had was the notebook with Sherry’s handwriting on it with the Stations phone number. I guess i just took the chance but I can’t seem to find her anywhere….” Wiping away the tears that start to fall you shake your head. “Sorry for getting emotional…”
Claire gently pats your back and gives you a soft smile. “Don’t be, we’re both on the look out for our siblings. Tell you what. How about we stick together. Get through this and find your sister and my brother.”
Smiling, you look at her and nod. “Yeah, That sounds like a good plan to me. Thank you, Claire”
“Don’t mention it, (Y/n). we’ll get through this, together.” Reaching out her blood stained hand for you to take she laughs a bit seeing yours is also covered in blood when shake her hand.

As Time Goes By (1/2)
Pairing: Arthur Fleck x Co-worker!Reader Word Count: 1803
Author’s Note: Lmao so I’m deadass 3 days late with this, but I got inspired for it literally on New Years Eve, and it’s been running away from me ever since (mostly ‘cause I actually came down with a pretty bad infection, and now I’m apparently allergic to the antibiotic the doctors gave me for it. It’s not been fun the last few days). Here it is now in its final form (split into 2 parts for my own sanity and yours), and with it, I thank you all for coming in at the butt end of 2019 and playing a big part in saving my ass. All your fanfic, all your art and acceptance of mass mutual love for this boy, and whether you’ve reblogged and liked or commented on my art or what little writing I’ve done or even my dumbass tag meta, I’m incredibly humbled and screaming about it literally all the time, and I love you all. Hope to talk to more of you in 2020 to keep the clown love going strong, and I’ll see you all very soon for part 2 ;)
Tumblr media
Arthur hadn’t really believed it when he’d been invited.
In his 33 years of life he had hardly ever been invited to anything. Birthdays, Christmas parties, dinners, drinks. If he had been offered any of these occasions, he’d often be forced to turn them down. He could justify to himself that he’d hate to leave his mother alone on any given holiday (let alone any day, with how poor her health was), but deep down, he felt the gesture empty. If he went, he’d be no more than he already was- an invisible man. Nobody to talk to, nobody to really celebrate with despite festivity cascading all around him. All because nobody really wanted the freak there anyway. Why go to all the trouble when he could be far more comfortable at home alone instead?
But when Gary had approached him one sunny Gotham winter morning as he was buttoning his golden vest, and said that the rest of the guys were planning to go to a bar on Nolan and 3rd to celebrate the New Year, he actually thought about going.
He was sweet to do so. Always nice to him. He’s sure the other guys wouldn’t think to extend such a courtesy to him, let alone want to. He knew what they thought of him, and frankly he didn’t think too highly of spending more time with them either. He was ready to make his usual excuse- that meds needed to be picked up, that his mother needed tending.
But it was four little words that Gary had said- soft enough and potent enough to make him reconsider.
“She’ll be there too.”
His eyes find her almost immediately, and Gary’s eyes follow- by the vanity, where she tugs down her wig to cover her hair- bright red spun yarn, dressed in a pair of braids. Her fluffy underskirt poking out a brilliant white under her blue polka-dot dress as she leans closer to the mirror.
She’s lovely. Always has been. In and out of makeup. Always wishing him a good day, laughing at his jokes. She even asks for them- on days when she drags her feet up that long staircase, tired eyes hoping all the more that whatever he has for her will do the trick that he loves best- a smile, no matter how soft, and a chuckle, whether it leaves her chest or not. Anything is enough for him.
He knows he’s going, deep down. He knows it surely as his heart starts thudding against his fragile ribs just a little harder as she smoothes her hands down her plush skirt.
“I-... I’ll think about it.” he concludes softly.
“All right. I hope you will. It’d be good to see you there, mate.”
They share smiles- genuine ones, before Gary gets back to his locker, dragging out his own jacket and wig. Just then, he sees a flash of pastel blue flutter past him, and his eyes flit up to her face, full of warmth as she waves a gentle goodbye to him.
“Have a good day, Artie.”
Chills shoot up his spine in a rush. A hit of joy. An impossible wish, but one spoken true all the same. He wonders if there’s invisible cherubs behind him, stabbing him with arrows.
Arthur lifts his hand, wiggling his fingers weakly as he smiles back at her.
“Have a good day…” he repeats.
Her smile gets wider before she turns her attention to the dwarf next to him.
“You too Gary.”
“And you!” he shouts after her, as she finally picks up her bag and trots down the stairs. He knows his eyes aren’t the only ones on her when she leaves, but he hopes that his eyes are more important than most.
“How come she never tells me to have a good day?” Randall quips with a shrug. Gary rolls his eyes as he turns to him in reply.
“Maybe because you’re an arse-hole.”
He laughs at that. Neither the laugh he pushes out of himself for courtesy, or the ones that force themselves out and choke him. He laughs for real, and he knows he’s going.
He has to.
His mom is nodding off, thank God.
She’s been fed, and they’ve watched a bit of the Live Gotham New Years Celebration coverage on TV- Murray Franklin, hosting- from her bed. The lights are out, save for the soft blue glow of her TV, and it’s just enough of a sleeping potion to start putting her under. She always gets like this, in truth. Out cold long before the night really has a chance to even begin. It’s a blessing, really. Especially tonight.
Because it gives him plenty of time to get ready.
Sure, he doesn’t have much of a choice in what suit he wears- the only one he owns being a deep maroon, a hand-me-down from the last decade. He can’t decide how to style his hair (though he’s bathed, he’s at least managed that much, for her), whether to slick it back or keep it casual, all he has in the way of cologne is something cheap he got from the drug store on his way home from work the day Gary invited him, but he’s got the spirit. For Her. And it seems that today, it’s enough.
He gathers the necessaries from the closet before he leaves his mother to sleep, switching the tv in the living room onto the special while he prepares, dabbing the cologne to his wrists and neck, wiggling his spindly legs into his suit pants on the couch.
Just then, as he’s buttoning up his fly, the brief commercial break ends with a quick jazz sting from the band- moved all the way downtown just for this occasion. He watches as the comedian approaches a couple. Arm in arm in the snow and smiling like they’ve won the lottery. Murray quips of how happy they are, about his own relatively new wife and how it won’t last- all in good humor. But he can’t register any of it.
All he registers is the way the woman’s hands move around that man’s waist. He feels it himself. On him. Faint. A warm hand wrapping around him, just under his jacket, grazing over the deep blue sweater he’d dragged on this morning to go to therapy, fitting so neatly in the space between his hips and his ribs. It’s uncanny. It feels just like her.
And for just a moment the couple on the screen is gone. Replaced by another, far more handsome than the last.
Him and her. Together. Happier than the thousands of handmade smiles they paint on themselves with rich pigments in cheap grease. Hers is particularly divine. Her cheeks rosy as they lift fully to accommodate her joy. It makes his heart want to break his bones, leap right out of his chest, into the palm of her hand of its own accord.
And they remained that way. For hours. Gotham’s imposing buildings shrinking beneath the way they look at each other, hold each other close and not just for the inevitable warmth her body brings to his. And at the stroke of midnight, he pulls her impossibly close, cupping her face when he kisses her, the cold air melting away under their shared warmth as confetti falls around them with the snow. They even get on the kiss cam.
Gotham sweethearts. And everyone knows it.
He smiles, as the saxophone slowly pulls him out of reverie. The chilling blue light of the tv washes over him, and his hand pulls itself agonizingly from the spot it found across his abdomen, feeling his rib sticking out in his laid-back position. Murray, bundled up in scarf and woolen coat, speaks loud and clear into his microphone over a cheering crowd, ever the professional.
“Well folks, this is it! Not much more than an hour left until the New Year! Pour some Champagne, and get your sweethearts close, and we’ll be right back after these messages.”
Panic washes over him so fast he almost tumbles over the coffee table trying to get up off the couch.
He’s late.
Quicker and more lithe than a cat high on their nip, he tugs his sweater off, buttoning up his clean white dress shirt as fast as he can- praying he didn’t skip any buttons, or that he improperly tied his tie.
“Happy? Where are you going?” a sleepy lilt calls from behind him.
He almost yelps, but before he can he turns to see his mother, leaning against the hallway, looking like she could pass out again right then and there. Leaving his waistcoat not fully buttoned, pulling his suit jacket on, he strides over to her and supports her sleepy form, starting to try and lead her back to bed.
“I’m meeting some guys from work for a drink.” A half-lie, as they reach the bedroom door. Enough to not make her question why he’s dressed to the nines and the strong and heady scent coming off of him - discount eros from a bottle. She hums a little “oh”, mulling over what she should say in response. He doesn’t give her the chance.
“I’m sorry Mom, I forgot to tell you.” Another half-lie, but it completes a full truth for her, letting him keep the solitary thought of her all to himself, even for a little while longer.
A look of unnecessary worry strikes across Penny’s face.
“You shouldn’t drink, Happy. It could mess with your pills. And you know I don’t like you being out this late.”
He winces at that. Guilt hitting him like needles prodding his veins. It isn’t much, but it’s enough to hurt. That she doesn’t trust him to leave and make it back in one piece. That she doesn’t trust him to know himself.
That she doesn’t trust him.
But she can’t dissuade him now.
They reach the door to her room, and they both slink in. He lets go of her once he’s sure she can make it the rest of the way to her side of the bed by herself, and swipes up his old hoodie draped over the corner that isn’t hers.
“I’ll be home by next year, I promise.” He purses his lips with a playfully disarming smile for her. She gives him a breathy chuckle of acceptance, and sits back on her bed again, pulling up the covers as she does.
“All right, Happy. Be careful.”
He nods, tugging the hoodie over his suit- trying not to wrinkle the sleeves as best he can.
“I will, Ma.”
He blows a kiss, and before she even has the chance to give him one back, he’s picked up his wallet and keys, and he’s out the door, locking it behind him.

I got all three of these for the same pick up line...and I have an idea. (Yes saw the thirst trap that was his public instastory...I see you Boone.)
“I told Josi if he wanted to bring some of the guys out for drinks he could. Is that cool?” Seth eyes Boone who wasn’t exactly making friends during the game that ended 20 minutes ago. “Booner? We good?” Seth poked Boone’s shoulder.
“Sure, why not? I plan on getting hammered quickly.” The rumble of agreements and laughter follows the guys out of the hotel and onto Broadway.
“Where the hell are meeting them?” Josh pipes up after walking past two bars he tried to turn into. Seth looks at his phone and follows Roman’s location landing them at Tootsies. It was easy for the two group of men to spot each other and Boone didn’t waste time ordering shots and downing them.
“How many are locals you think?” Luc asks Roman eyeing the sheer amount of women all in cowboy boots and daisy dukes even in the winter.
“Not sure honestly. Not really my scene these days.” Roman spins his wedding band that catches the light.
“How about a friendly competition?” Boone downs the shot he handed Seth and spins the empty class on his finger. “Team that can successfully uses the You are the only Ten-I-See pick up line the most wins two rounds on the losing team.” He leans against the bar and drops the glass down.
“Sounds fun. Right boys?” Roman looks over to his teammates and back at Seth and his teammates.
“I’ll go first.” Seth gets a pat on the back from the boys and heads out into the crowd with Cam and Ryan following a distance behind.
“We are in Smashville. You know we are going to win.” Ryan whisper yells.
“Jo, you’ve been out of Columbus too long. Don’t underestimate my boys.” Cam chuckles at his old teammate and points to Seth leaning against the post.
“Hey.” Seth calmly says to get the short brunettes attention. She looks at him and her eyes go wide.
“Are you from Tennessee? Because you are the only ten I see.” He flashes his smile and she places her hand on his forearm.
“Told ya.” Cam watches the exchange and puts up his hands when Seth hands his phone over for her to add her number.
Several struck out while pairs followed. Laughing at the deadpan answers of, “Hell no, I’m from Alabama.” or “Aren’t you married? I swear I follow your wife.”
“Cap, you gotta hit one outta the park for us.” Matt gives Roman a back clap and sends him out.
Sure enough Roman spotted the perfect girl in a Josi Jersey. “Hey, I’m playing a game...” he whispered to the star struck girl who’s mouth was permanently open from shock. He loudly goes, “Are you from Tennessee, because you are the only TEN I see.” Emphasizing the ten. The girl just stands there.
Then answers, “yeah, Franklin. Are you really talking to me?”
He nods then whispers again. “Put your number in my phone and I’ll send you an autographed puck or something.” He winks and hands over his phone.
“Okay, it’s two to two and Boone is the last one left.” Josh looks his buddy up and down. You can see the alcohol has already hit him. “Ready Jenner?” Josh pushes Boone into the crowd and follows behind with Roman. “This is not going to end well.” Josh mumbles but Roman chuckles.
Boone makes a bee line for a girl with bottle blonde hair, cowboy boots and matching hat. He doesn’t stop fast enough. “Heeeeyyyy there lady!” He tips his imaginary hat. “Are you from Tennessee because...”
“No, Texas.” She stops him.
“You didn’t let me finish...because you are the only...” Boone’s face contorts as she places her perfectly manicured hands on his chest.
“I’m gonna stop you right there. I’ve watched you and your buddies since you idiots walked in. And I’m not sure if it’s a damn game or if you want a hook up to celebrate your win either way you can just stop.” Boone just looks at her. Josh and Roman are dying of laughter that they are holding each other up. Boone backs away and pushes past the guys.
“So?” The guys say in unison.
“It’s a fucking tie okay? Pay for your own drinks.” Boone leans over the bar to order another shot. The recount by Josh and Roman makes him order a double.

was i made from a broken mold ?
about : cameron has a panic attack, ends up passing out and hitting his head. janelle finds him and calls 911.
time & location : may 23rd, sometime around 11:00 am, continues through the day. cameron and janelle’s house, then the hospital.
trigger warnings : panic attack, hospital, talk of blood, talk of mental health, talk of suicide
to say that cameron was exhausted would be an understatement. he hadn't really been sleeping, only maybe four hours a night, going to bed at one am and waking up at five am was proving to be quite difficult. playing at prom was amazing, sure, but combined with everything they needed to get ready for tour, the after party last night, and things he hadn't been taking very good care of emotionally, cameron was a mess. he was trying to clean their bathroom, the next thing on his list of chores, seeing as he hated leaving the house a mess when he was to be going for a long period of time. cam was wiping down the mirrors, a rag in hand, when he heard his phone ping from the countertop. he reached over, sighing as the name 'she devil' was displayed on his screen. he unlocked it, his eyes scanning over the words, 'i told you all that pot wasn't good for you, but look what you even did to your poor fucking baby. i bet you didn't even care if you were smoking around her. she probably got poisoned.' he let out a shaky sigh, beginning to set the phone back down on the counter when it vibrated again, 'i knew you were going to fuck something up again. i just didn't think it would ever be this horrible.' cameron's hands began to shake now, sliding his thumb up to press the power button down, turning his phone off for good. he leaned forward, pressing the palm of his free hand down on the counter, as the other one gripped tightly to the device. he was trying so hard to stay calm, to stay okay. he had too much to do, and he knew he couldn't waste a second of it getting upset over anything. though his thoughts proved to be no use as he turned his body quickly, swinging his arm at the shower wall, letting his phone slip out of his hand, hitting the tile with a very loud crash, obviously smashing it into a million pieces.
his mind was racing, and as much as he tried, he couldn’t stop it. soon, his breathing was hitching in his throat, and his hands were gripping onto the edge of the counter so hard, his knuckles were turning white. cameron was trying as hard as he could to prolong the inevitable, though it only ended up making matters worse. he gasped, a hand moving up to clutch the material of his shirt hanging at his chest, his short nails digging into his skin. he glanced up into the mirror, noticing that his neck was starting to break out in hives, a sure sign that things were not going to end up well. he gasped again, trying to get as much air into his lungs as he could, but he fell short, and he was beginning to see the little white dots cloud his vision. this was getting bad, really, really bad, and he had no way to stop it. camerons hand started working against his chest again, scratching at his skin through his shirt, trying to relieve himself of the itching the hives brought on. his chest was rising and falling too rapidly now to be able to even attempt to catch his breath like he knew he needed to. cameron’s entire body was trembling, and his legs were beginning to grow weak, he tried to keep his body held up on the counter, hoping that his upper body strength would be enough, but of course, it wasn’t. one of his legs gave out first, and the other followed shortly after and all of a sudden, the world went dark. cameron fell down onto the tile flooring, passing out in the middle of his fall, his head, smacking off the edge of the bathtub. his body laid limply on the floor, a small trickle of blood began to stream down the side of his face caused by the hit to his head.
To say that this weekend hadn’t been already starting off amazingly would be an understatement. Janelle felt as if she had gotten a redo of her and Cam’s Junior prom. Having stolen him for dances when the boys weren’t playing, but also made sure she had plenty of time to take pictures of the boys, her brothers’ band, her sister, and of course Briar and Zach being the cutest thing ever that night. After prom came the after party, and Janelle stayed up till god knows what time even with Cam passing out around one am. She ended up sleeping in till around nine. She did her normal morning routine, that she added in taking the puppies, on a walk around the block, luckily Cam had taken Deliliah with him when he went out for his run and she was already asleep up on their bed.
By the time she got back from the walk with the boys Janelle was ready for a nap, but she wasn’t going to end up getting it, unlike Parker and Peter who found their way up onto the couch and curled up sleeping. Janelle shook her head at the two of them. Cam and her had made a list and planned to divide and concor to try and get some of it done with this weekend they both had off. She had been tasked to organize, the already pretty well organized, kitchen. She pulled out things that were going to be expiring within the month that was already open, so they could finish them up, and she started to check dates on things that would end up expiring during tour, going to probably drop it off at her mom’s knowing that someone over there would end up eating them.
As she was finished up, making a basket to bring over to her moms she heard a crash upstairs. She walked into the living room seeing the boys still asleep on the couch; it wasn’t them. She walked up stairs hearing Deliliah scratching at the bathroom door. “Go lay back down sweetie.” She tried to pull Deliliah from the door but she wasn’t having it, but there wasn’t much Janelle could do when she heard a thud to the floor. Opening it, Delilah was already to run in, but Janelle was able to grab her, picking her up,  and seeing Cam on the floor.  “Nope nope you’re staying out here.” She put Deliliah back in their room, closing the door before going over to Cam, seeing the small bit of blood coming from his forehead “Cammy..” She shook his body slightly, trying to see if she could just wake him up, but when he didn’t respond to her, she quickly got out her phone calling 911.
As an operator picked up, Janelle had to try and not just start sobbing on the floor. She tried to explain what happened, even though she didn’t even know what happened. She gave all the info she needed to, and stayed on the phone with her, at least until the paramedics got there.
cameron's body was slumped at this point, his neck was an angle that seemed to be anything but comfortable, and the blood was continuing to slide down his face with every second that passed. it wasn't a horrible wound, but it was a big enough one that could cause a good amount of fluid. after a few moments, he groaned, trying to move his body slightly. he got his neck to shift, his head sliding onto the ground with a quiet thud. cam groaned again, his eyes slowly fluttering open, "wha -" he started, bringing a hand up to rub along his cheek, pulling it away, noticing his fingers were covered in his own blood, "what -" he started again, though he couldn't figure out how to string along a proper sentence, his words were getting jumbled in his head, and his mind was foggy, "elle," he mumbled, being able to get out at least part of janelle's name, "what - happened?"
Janelle sat there trying to keep calm, the operator helping a lot, but she could still hear Deliliah scratching at the door. She let out a breath as she started to see Cam move. "Hey hey, don't move baby.."  she reached her hand over to him running her fingers along his arm. She was about to say something but she started to hear the ambulance coming, hanging up on the operator. "You don't move." her tone was firm as she got up and went to the door, trying to catch Deliliah before she ran in but couldn't and just let her go right to Cam's side - she was just as worried as Janelle was. "Deliliah you make sure he doesn't move okay?" Janelle made her way down stairs, grabbing both of the boys to put them in their playpen before going to open the door as she saw the flashing pull up in front of the house.
cameron groaned again, trying his hardest to sit up, but just janelle's words were enough to get him to lay back down. his mind and his body were too weak to even try to fight with her now, not like he normally would in times like these. he tried his best to say yes to her statement, but his word only came out like a muffled groan. he let his head fall back again, his eyes fluttering closed, even as delilah ran in, pawing softly at his arm before she laid directly down on his bicep, whining softly. the paramedics pulled directly into the driveway, a couple of people hopping out of the truck rather quickly, walking their way up to the front door, "mrs. puckerman?" they asked as she neared the door, "what seems to be the problem? and where is the injured?" one of them asked, adjusting the bag on their shoulder.
Janelle ran her hand into her hair nodding "Yeah, hi thank you guys for coming so quickly." She let them inside. trying to find the right words. "I'm not exactly sure what happened." She started before going to the second question "He's upstairs in the master bathroom." She showed them the way up, going in and letting them go to the bathroom. One of them went in as the other started asking her more questions, her doing the best she could with what was being asked.
"it's our job, ma'am," one of the emt's replied, taking a couple steps into the house. both of them followed closely behind janelle, one of them holding a portable gurney in one hand, and the other was holding one of the bags. they walked up to the master bedroom, immediately going into the bathroom. he checked out cameron, shining a light in his eyes, checking his vitals, and beginning to clean up his wound to hopefully help limit the bleeding. "we're going to have to take him to the general hospital, it looks like he has a concussion, and this wound here is going to need some stitches." the emt spoke, sliding a neck brace onto the male.
Janelle stayed out in the bedroom letting the emts do their work, trying to call Rosemary, and then Zach and Jared. She really felt like she was going to be sick seeing Cameron like that. there wasn't anything she could have done, and she just knew how upset cam would be with her after this.
as the other emt finished up with janelle, he walked into the bathroom, helping get cameron onto the flat gurney, counting to three before they lifted him up, earning a groan from the male. they walked him out into the bedroom, and slowly down the stairs, setting him on the rolling bed they had waited by the door. "will you be riding with us, ma'am?" the male turned quickly, asking janelle. cameron was far too out of it to even beg her to go with him, though he would have if he could have.
Deliliah followed them out of the bathroom as they took him out, before going over to Janelle. She picked her up "daddy's gonna be okay. promise they are gonna take good care of him." She said, keeping her in her arms as she walked down stairs with her. "Um." She nodded. "I just need to grab my bag, and his wallet.." She nodded again. Janelle went into the living room putting Deliliah down with her brothers. "you three behave please." She mumbled to the dogs,  grabbing her bag, putting his wallet and keys in there before going out with them to get into the ambulance.
the emt's nodded, beginning to wheel cameron into the ambulance, already getting him hooked up to a heart monitor, and strapped into place properly. as they finished, the male climbed out of the rig, waiting outside to help janelle in, thankfully it wasn't too much time. cameron was in and out of consciousness, mumbling things incoherently, and letting out a few, weak groans as they drove to the hospital. once there, they got him inside, stopping janelle by the doors to the emergency room, "you'll need to wait here, some paperwork will have to be filled out while the nurses and doctors check him out, but i'm sure they will call you as soon as he's ready. just - head over there," he spoke, pointing to the emergency room desk.
Janelle nodded to him, thanking him again before heading over to the emergency desk. "Hi, my boyfriend just came in on the ambulance." She started, giving the info she needed too, going into his wallet when they asked for his healthcare card, not seeing one in there, going through almost all of them. "Um he doesn't have one in here. can i give you his parents name? He must still be on one of theirs." She ran her hand over her arm, probably should have grabbed a sweater too before leaving. The nurses finished up with her telling her she can have a seat and once he was settled they would be able to bring her back to him.
the nurse at the desk was very sweet, though it was clear she was just trying to get her job done. she handed janelle the paperwork needed, asking her to fill out a few forms for cameron, though telling her to wait on the signature, as cameron would have to do that himself. "mm, sure, hun, let me see what i can find," the nurse spoke as she typed into the computer, shaking her head, "yeah, i'm not having anything come up on my end, are you able to contact them at all? they might want to be here too, if he's in the emergency room." she noted, "i'll have it billed to the address you put down here, and if need be, you can file a claim with the health care provider if nothing turns up, alright?" she added before instructing janelle to have a seat. it was about a half an hour before the doctor came in to find janelle, "mrs - puckerman?" he called, "cameron is all set, we've brought him up to the second floor, if you want to follow me up there to see him? we can chat on the way."
Janelle took the paperwork from her nodding looking it over, trying to think how much she was actually going to be able to fill out without texting Rosemary - not like she wouldn't just want her there right now. "Yeah i'll totally get right on trying to get a hold of them" it was more under her breath then to her nurse. She filled everything out that she could as she waited. it felt so much longer than a half hour but when she heard her name call she jumped up nodding "Okay. yeah thank you." she ran her fingers in her hair worried for the bad news that would probably come.
the doctor moved aside, letting janelle out the door before he followed closely behind, "so, we did a full workup on cameron, he did pass out, as i'm sure you know, what caused that - we don't fully understand. does he have a history of fainting? or anything that could cause a dizzy spell of any kind?" she asked, tucking her clipboard under her arm as they walked, "we also have reason to believe he has a concussion, we're waiting for the mri to open up, but he'll be going in there shortly to get confirmation on that. - and lastly, the wound on his head is pretty superficial, there was no damage to his skull, though it does have about - eight or nine stitches helping heal that wound." she explained as she rounded the corner to the hallway his room was on, stopping in front of his door, "he's pretty awake right now, we have him on some fluids, so that should help him. just make sure you're careful, he seems to still be pretty confused."
Janelle pushed her hair behind her ear. "Not that i know of no." She started, "though I don't believe it's diagnosed, but he does have panic attacks, so I don't know if that would have been linked to this." She nodded listening to everything else. "Thank you."She said softly, before going to the door handle and pushed it opened seeing Cam in bed, and she instantly was sad but happy. Going over to him she wanted to just fling her arms around him knowing he was going to be okay, but she stopped herself. "hey Cam." She walked over to the side of the bed kissing his cheek softly. "How are you feeling.."
"panic attacks? alright - we'll come back later, he seemed a little - anxious when we were asking him questions earlier, so that makes sense, but we're going to give him a bit of a break until we need to take him to mri," she explained, before leaving janelle to see cameron. cam picked his head up just slightly as janelle walked in, though his eyebrows furrowed in pain. "hi - baby," he mumbled, his voice hoarse and quiet. "m' fine - elle, really. i - just slipped," he mumbled, turning his head slightly to look at her.
Janelle nodded "oh yeah breaks are good." she said knowing how hard it would be for her to get him to talk, it had to be even harder for them. Once she was over to the bed, she pulled the closest chair over to sit down, "Mm your nine stitches in your head say otherwise" She took his hand lacing her fingers with his. "I was scared Cam.." She said softly not wanting to look at him when she said that.
cameron let out a sigh, "nine?" he mumbled, letting his eyes move away from her, training them on the ceiling. he brought his gaze back down to janelle as she spoke, trying to shake his head, but that proved to bring him more pain, "elle, baby, i'm okay, i promise," he mumbled, reaching a shaking hand over to try to grab onto hers, "- i'm - sorry i scared you, sweetheart,"
"or eight, at least that is what your doctor said." She said softly looking back over at him "Cam. I heard a crash, and then a thud and you were on the floor bleeding. you weren't okay." She told him shaking her head "Do you remember what happened?" She whispered softly.
"eight - okay," he grumbled, letting out a slow, shaky sigh, "i - but i'm fine now, right? i'm - good." cameron mumbled, letting his eyes fall to the blanket laying over his legs. he was disappointed - but not in anyone but himself. he had hurt the one, single person, he promised to never hurt. "i - had another - w - whatever it's called. i - uh - got dizzy, i - i guess. i don't - remember."
Janelle quickly looked over to him shaking her head. "They still need to have you have an MRI, just to check to see if you have a concussion or not." She bit down on her lip "Panic attack?" She questioned softly sighing. "I don't know who was more worried about you me or deiliah" She said softly.
"yeah - okay," he mumbled, "but it's just a con - concussion. it's not like it's really that bad, baby." cameron could barely speak above a whisper, his throat being too dry to even attempt to raise it. "yeah - that," cam grumbled, letting out a puff of air at the mention of the actual term, "i don't know - is she okay, though? are - are they all okay?"
"It could be bad though." She  told him. "Like what if that had happened and I wasn't home?" Janelle didn't want to start crying but she could feel her eyes tearing up. "She's fine, the boys are fine. She kept trying to run into the bathroom before i just let her."
"but it wasn't, baby," he added, glancing over to her, "i would have been just fine, i - woke up after a second, didn't i? that's what the doctors said." cameron mumbled, noticing her tears, "baby, come on, don't cry, please, i'm - i'm fine, okay? they're gonna bring me - me to the mri, and then - then they'll let me go." he promised, hoping that he would at least comfort her slightly.
Janelle shrugged a little bit "maybe more like a minute?" She shook her head, quickly pushing them away "i'm not crying, i think dust just got in my eye" Janelle mumbled with a sigh "Or the mri says there is something wrong, and then you have to stay here or something." She shook her head slightly, clearly thinking of all the worst things that could happen.
"whatever, same difference," he mumbled, letting out a puff of air, "you're crying, janelle. i know what crying looks like," he reached his hand out again, hoping that she would take it this time. "i don't think anything is going to be wrong, janelle. it's fine. i'm fine, okay? please." cameron was getting aggravated now, hating that he had to lay here in this bed, hating that he did something so idiotic to get him here, "oh - fuck. rose. did you call her?"
"minutes sixty seconds longer than a second" Janelle teased, before finally taking his hand, squeezing it gently, though she ignored him saying she was crying. "Are you really fine, or are you just saying your fine for me to drop it Cam?" Hospitals were no place to argue knowing it set her anxiety off so she really was trying to keep her own emotions in check. She nodded "yeah i texted her when the emts were looking at you, and texted her asking about your health insurance. I couldn't find the card in your wallet, and the nurse at the er desk said there was nothing on file for you, though she asked if i could try and call your mom and dad about it, I didn't i promise."
cameron wrapped his fingers around her hand, squeezing it as best as he could, though it wasn't to much at all. "i'm fine, janelle." he mumbled again, avoiding picking either option he was given. he just wanted to get out of here, and that's what he was trying to do, "oh - yeah. i don't have any," he said simply, letting out a slow sigh, "uh - my parents took me off when i - moved out, and obviously it's - not easy to get with the kind of job i have, so i just - never did."
Janelle shook her head "We'll see if the doctor says your fine" She ran her thumb along his hand softly. She wanted him to be fine but there was something in the pit of her stomach that something wasn't 100%. Janelle rolled her eyes a little bit. "your parents are fucking assholes, have i said that recently, or actually ever?" She shook her head. "So me calling 911, is gonna lead to such an expensive bill" she mumbled to herself pulling her hand away running both of her hands over her face.
"she'll say i'm fine, janelle." he mumbled, letting his head rest back on the pillows. he felt like shit, truthfully, his head was pounding, and he felt like he was going to throw up at any given moment, but he would never tell her that, "yeah - they are. - it's fine. is rose on her way?" he asked, eyebrows raising, "did you tell her i was fine, though? or what did you say? she's - gonna be worried, fuck," he mumbled, biting down hard on the corner of his lip. "yeah - it will - but it's fine."
Janelle shrugged her shoulders slightly just dropping it. "mm she is, I just told her you passed out and i called 911 and we are at the hospital. I didn't have much else to give her" She looked over at him. "You are fine with what is probably a 500 dollar ambulance ride, then everything else just adds up after that. You probably sitting here waiting for her to come back is like a dollar every thirty seconds" She sighed
cameron nodded his head slowly, letting out a sigh, "she's gonna fuckin' kill me, - fuck," he mumbled, his voice filled with annoyance, though it wasn't directed towards anyone but himself. "try two thousand, not to mention all the shit they're pumping me with, and then the blood work, and the bed, and the testing - the mri n' shit," he mumbled, letting out another sigh. it was getting to be pretty overwhelming, having to think about all this stuff, though he was trying to ignore the bubbling anxiety, "it's - fine, though. i - have enough."
"Cam she's not going to kill you. At least not right now she probably won't." She let out a small sigh. As he started to add up everything, it was getting her even more worried over that bill that would end up at the house. "I mean it is fine, but shit babe."
"she is going to kill me," he mumbled, shaking his head, "i'm supposed to tell her - about - these things," he tilted his head down, looking to his hands which were resting on the blanket, "the - what - whatever you want to call them." cameron sighed, bringing a hand up to push his hair back, causing him to flinch in pain as he brushed against the stitches. truthfully, money was getting to be a problem, with everything they were trying to pay off right now, but cameron would never tell her that, "the boys? did you call them?" he mumbled, his eyebrows raising just slightly.
"She is not going to kill you." She repeated her hand running up his arm slowly trying to keep him calm. "Panic attack." She said simply. "That is what they are.." She  leaned over kissing his cheek softly. "Maybe not push your hair back on that side" All she wanted was to get in bed and hold him and tell him everything would be okay. "mmhmm. Jared finally texted back saying he'll go over and check on the boys and deliliah."
"she is one hundred percent going to kill me," he mumbled, letting out a slow sigh as she ran her hand up his arm, turning his head just slightly to watch her movements. "yeah - whatever." cameron grumbled, shaking his head slowly. "o - okay. - and zach?" he asked, eyebrows raising slightly. he hated having to be here, having to lay in this bed so helpless and weak. "can't you just -" he started to try and plead with her to get him out of here, but he was interrupted by a knock on the door, the doctor soon opening the door to take a couple of steps inside, "mr. weston," she started, "cameron, please." he spoke quietly, hating to have to hear his last name more than needed, "- alright then, cameron, - i just need to ask you a couple more questions before we take you into get that mri, sound good?" she began, earning a slow nod from cameron.
"She is one hundred percent not gonna kill you Cameron." She tried to convince him. "Zach said he'll come by if you have to stay overnight, he doesn't want Briar to end up worrying." She said simply. "But if they do let you go home he's gonna stop by the house and check in." She smiled slightly letting her hand run down to his, lacing their fingers together just as the knock was on the door Janelle gave his hand a soft squeeze, hoping everything would go smoothly.
cameron rolled his eyes, letting out a sigh. he knew very well how rosemary would react, they were very similar, the two of them and he couldn't imagine her reacting any better than he did when she was in the hospital. "yeah - okay, that sounds good," cam nodded again, letting out another breath. the doctor grabbed the clipboard at the end of his bed, beginning to read over the chart quickly, "alright so - i was told you experience panic attacks, is that correct?" she asked, raising her eyebrows, "uh - yeah. i - guess so," he mumbled, avoiding the doctors gaze. "and how long have those been happening?" she asked as she began to write something down on the chart, "uh - a couple - a while. long as i can remember," he sighed, lacing his fingers with janelles.
Janelle sat there quietly, squeezing his hand again, to show she was there, this would be fine, and that it would be okay. She let her thumb run along his hand, keeping her eyes on them, as she felt her heart slowly start to break when he said as long as he could remember. She was now wondering how long that actually was.
the doctor nodded her head slowly, continuing to ask questions about the attacks, how frequently, how long did they last, and if he had ever passed out from them before. cameron answered truthfully, saying that they happened a couple of times a month, only a few minutes, fifteen tops, and no, he had never passed out from them before. the doctor looked up, nodding her head at his answers, "alright - so since panic attacks stem from anxiety, i'm going to have to ask you a couple of questions regarding your mental health, is that alright?" cameron nodded his head, slowly, clearly anxious for what was to come. she went through the routine, asking if he had a history of mental illness, resulting in him explaining his sister, though his parents and his family were clear as far as he knew. she continued to ask about his personal history, if he had any symptoms of depression, the usual questions asked during a situation like this one. her last questioned noticeably stunned cameron, "and have you ever had any thoughts about ending your life in any way?" she asked softly, making sure her words didn't hit too sharp. cameron hesitated, his breathing hitching in his throat, and his heart monitor began beeping slightly faster, "n - no. i - haven't." he stuttered, shaking his head slowly.
When that last question hit, Janelle was assuming that the no would come just as all the other questions had come - easily. but when the heart monitor started beeping faster, she looked right at him. She couldn't tell if he was just worried to say no, or if he was lying. her eyes dropped from looking at him, wishing the doctor would say what was going on now.
Cameron sighed slowly, as the doctor raised her eyebrows, clearly questioning his answer, "cameron, you're going to need to tell the truth, here. I need to be able to treat you properly, and if you're not telling us the truth, we cannot do that," her words were firm, yet they were still soft. Cameron's hands started to tremble again, sliding the hand that was holding janelle's away from her, hiding both of them under the blanket, "it was - it was just once, when i was younger, it's - it's not anymore - it was just once," he promised, though his words were quiet, clearly terrified for how his words would hit the people in the room with him.
When Cam hand pulled away from her, she dropped her hand from the bed and into her lap. She listened to her words, but couldn't look at him. Her heart broke in that moment, shattering. she hadn't been prepared to hear him say that, even if it was in the past and he didn't think that anymore. Janelle finally got up. "Excuse me." She said  mostly to the doctor, still not looking at cam, walking out of the room leaving her bag there. She found her way to one of the bathrooms going inside locking the door behind her. She leaned up on the door, her head banging on the back of the door as the tears just started to fall. How didn't she know. She didn't even know with her best friend, but was just oblivious because Briar took over her mind when she knew that she was that bad. But Cam? She would never have expected it from him. Though slowly learning more of his home life when he was younger. She slid down onto the floor, letting out a sob. trying to just get all the tears out before going back to his room.
"- elle," he started to say, as soon as she got up from the chair. his heart shattering more and more with every single step that she took. cameron let his head fall back onto the pillows, not even caring about the pain his harsh action caused him. he fucked up. how could he - he should have just lied and it would have been fine, no one would question him, and he wouldn't have had to break janelle like that. "i take it, she didn't know?" the doctor asked, earning a huff from the male, "no - she didn't," he mumbled, bringing a hand up to push his hair away, "alright - well," the doctor started, letting out a soft sigh, "i'll be keeping that in mind while we run some more tests, okay? another doctor, who specializes in mental health will be coming in to see you later today, or tomorrow depending on how your mri goes, alright? i'm going to get a nurse in here to take you down in just a few moments." she explained, closing the clipboard, hanging it back on the edge of his bed. cameron let out a sigh, turning his head towards the window, his eyes already filling up with tears.
Janelle had been in the bathroom a good ten minutes before she finally was able to compose herself. She splashed some water in her face letting out a small sigh. "You're fine, Janelle. Cam is fine, now.." She said softly looking at herself in the mirror. She walked back out making her way back to Cam's room, slowly opening the door, thankful he was still there and they didn't take him for the mri yet. "hi." her voice was soft before she went back over to her chair.
"hey," he mumbled, turning his head away from her. cameron knew damn well the disappointment that would be shown on her face, and he didn't know if he could handle something like that right now. he already felt idiotic enough, just from how he got himself in this situation, and now the one thing he never wanted her to find out about him, she knew? he couldn't handle it. cameron kept his shaking hands under the blankets, picking at the hem of the shirt he was wearing.
Janelle sighed when he turned to look away from her. "Cameron." She sighed, before sitting on the edge of the bed, reaching up for him to look at her, knowing that he'd try and just not look at her, but when she finally got him too she let out a sigh. "you promise me, and not lie, that it really was only once, and it was a long time ago and not recently at all." She could deal with the panic attacks and anything that came with them, but if he was having those kinds of thoughts she wasn't sure how long it would be before she broke.
cameron let out another sigh as she brought her hand up to get him to look at her. his eyes were watering as he did, trying his hardest to prevent the tears from spilling over. "i - promise. it was just - just once. when we were really young, i - haven't thought about it since then, and i promise, i never will," he spoke, though his voice was shaky, he was telling the complete truth, "you - you were the reason why i didn't, elle." this came out more of a whisper, his words hesitant as he let his eyes fall back to the blanket.
Janelle kept her hand on his cheek softly, her thumb moving to push away the tears before they actually spilled over. But as she pushed his away, she felt hers start to fall over. "me? but what did i do to get you to not do it.." She whispered.
cameron blinked a few, quick times as she brought her hand up to brush his tears away, ridding himself of any stragglers. "d - don't cry, baby, please," he begged, moving one of his shaking hands up to her cheek, brushing her own tears away as best as he could. "you showed up at - at my house, and reminded me that - that i didn't actually want to - y'know," cameron mumbled his words, making them barely audible.
Janelle listened to him, letting out a soft sigh "baby" she wrapped her arms around him carefully, but hugged him as tightly as she could. She knew what night he was talking about, and they both knew she hated bringing up that night. So the fact her showing up stopped him she was so glad  she had gone there. "I love you. I love you so much Cam."
cameron let out a slow, shaky breath of air once again, closing his eyes as she wrapped her arms around his body. he knew she knew what he was talking about - they all knew that day, and they all could recall it like it was just yesterday. "i love you more, janelle," he whispered, tucking his head into her neck, despite the pain it gave him, "and i promise it's not going to happen again, okay?"
Janelle closed her eyes tightly, still feeling the tears well in her eyes. "Not possible." she mumbled sniffling slightly. "Okay." she said above a whisper "And, if, and it's a big if, you ever fucking feel like that again, you talk to me. we fix it together."
cameron brought his hand up to her back, doing his best to move it up and down her spine, "very possible," he mumbled, tilting his head back slowly, "i know, baby, i - i will," he promised, trying to lay his head back down on the pillow. anytime he moved, his head started to throb, making his eyes go blurry, and his mind get cloudy, "mm -" he was about to speak up, before the door to his room opened, and a nurse walked through, "ready for the mri?" he asked, his arms resting by his sides.
"Nope I love you 3000" She kissed him softly, pushing his hair back softly once he was laying back. " Thank you." She said simply before the door opened. She quickly got off of the bed. "I'll be right here when you get back okay? Promise."
"mm, m' letting you have it this time," he cracked the smallest of smiles, the first one since being here, and though it was small, it was still something. cameron turned his head to the nurse, and then back to janelle, eyes slightly wide. he hated doctors, hated needles, hated any kind of tests at all, and that was all due to his parents, and what they did in times like these. "you - promise i - don't leave, please?" he spoke, almost child-like.
"mmm i like winning" she giggled before kissing him again quickly before sitting down in the chair. "I promise. I will be sitting right here when you get back." she grabbed his hand squeezing it tightly
cameron nodded his head slowly, glancing back to the nurse to signal that he was ready to go. she brought him out of the room, keeping him on the bed as they moved. it took them about an hour before cameron was back in the room, clearly exhausted, though his whole body was trembling under the blankets they had pulled up on him.
Janelle knew it would take them a while, knowing she  would go crazy looking at the clock and having the time pass by even slower. She ended up walking down to the starbucks that was inside of the hospital, grabbing herself a drink before going back up to the room. The walk there and back at least wasted fifteen minutes. She was curled up on the chair, her phone on her knee, as she played candy crush to pass the time for when he finally came back in. She thanked the nurse, before closing her phone "hi baby.
“h - hi,” cameron let out a slow sigh, "will - they let you stay here?" he asked, continuing to keep his voice quiet, not really being able to get his voice any louder. all of a sudden, the room began to spin, and his stomach started to churn, "i - uh -" he started, trying to get his words out, "b - bucket, - pl - please," cameron pleaded, bringing his hand over his mouth, trying to contain himself.
"they are gonna have to pull me out of here kicking and screaming then if they don't let me stay." She told him softly her hand just drawing shapes on his chest as they laid there. As he asked for a bucket,  Janelle pushed her eyebrows together, before grabbing the trash can, seeing as that was the closest thing she could hand to him.
cameron reached his hand out, grabbing the trash can as quickly as he possibly could, leaning over the bed, and letting his body do what it ultimately needed to do. after a few minutes, he finally rested back on the bed, his chest rising and falling rather rapidly. in the middle of him getting sick, the doctor walked back in, the answers to his mri in hand. she waited until he was laying back on the bed before she spoke up, "so, this kind of confirms everything, then. you have a pretty severe concussion, cameron. the nausea being a side effect of that. we're going to keep you overnight, just to monitor you, and i'll make sure you get some anti nausea medication to help with that, as well."
Janelle had taken a few steps back when cam started to puke his guts out, knowing that just the smell of that would set off her gagging. Janelle listened to the Doctor nodding looking between her and cam. "Quick question." Once the doctor let her go on "Would it be a possibility for me to stay here with him. If not I totally understand.." Janelle bit the side of her lip quietly chanting in her head 'please say it's okay'
the doctor nodded her head slowly as janelle spoke up, thinking for a moment, "i will - see what i can do, okay?" she said, "i can't promise anything, but i'll do my best," the doctor offered up a small smile, before she said goodbye to them, soon walking out the door. a few moments later, a nurse came in, disposing of the waste bin first before he gave cameron some medication to hopefully help his nausea.
"Thank you." She nodded. Once everything was quieted down again. Janelle just tossed everyone into a group message just so she wouldn't have to send out four different texts to let everyone know what was going on.
cameron remained on his side, curled up in the ball he was in just before, pulling the blanket over his body. as the nurse was in the room, she reminded them of all the procedures and rules they would need to follow because of his diagnosis. no screens, no bright lights, no hard concentration, no loud noises, the usual things. cam was pissed, and that was very clearly displayed on his face.

One of the best ways to protect yourself from traffic tickets, insurance fraud, and terrible drivers is to install a dashcam into your vehicle. Dash cameras can record road rage, help you keep tabs on your teenager's driving habits, or even document exciting road trips. Adding this simple device can also help you capture evidence of who's at fault if you're in an accident.

What’s in the Box?
Tumblr media
In the package for the Mini5, you'll get:
Dashcam unit
Mounting bracket
Power cable
12V USB charging plug
User guide
Installation tool
Additional 3M adhesive pad
Two Static Cling Films
Included in the test unit that DDPai sent to us was a hardwire installation kit that included three different types of wiring harness. These harnesses used different fuses and a length of cable to connect to the camera. We chose not to use this harness but wanted to mention that DDPai was kind enough to include it as part of our demo.
Note on hardwiring this dashboard camera: as an automotive industry insider, I can confidently tell you that externally wiring accessories into your fuse box or OBDII port can have some potentially damaging effects on the electrical system of your car.
Whenever possible, I always recommend that external accessories are kept separate from your vehicle's internal wiring. Additionally, if your car is still under manufacturer warranty you, should check with your dealer before hardwiring anything to ensure it won't negate your automobile's warranty.
Let's Install the Mini5 Dashboard Camera
Tumblr media
The installation of this unit is easy out of the box. Simply choose a spot you'd like to place the camera, give the area a quick wipe down, remove the 3M adhesive, and stick the camera's mounting bracket to the windshield.
If you'd like, you can also use the included static films between the adhesive and the windshield to make removal easier. The mounting bracket has a slight tilt function to accommodate different windshield angles. The bracket holds the camera in place magnetically, which means you can remove it from the windshield if you're worried about someone swiping it.
Routing the wire for the camera was also easy, and the included installation tool made quick work of hiding the wires under the headliner, down the a-pillars, and under the dash. When finished, about a foot of wiring was left that I just stuffed behind a plastic panel to keep it out of the way. While there aren't any cable clips included for this unit, this doesn't limit the installation as long as you are conscious of where you're mounting the camera.
You also want to consider whether or not your vehicle has built-in ADAS before installation. If you have ADAS, check your vehicle's owner's manual to make sure you install the Mini5 in a spot where it won't interfere with the onboard system.
Once I plugged the Mini5 in and started the car, the camera greeted me with an enthusiastic "Hello, Ding Ding Pai!" before the light on the unit turned blue to indicate it was recording.
As mentioned above, there is the option to hardwire the Mini5 into the car as well. Doing so will allow you to monitor what's happening outside your vehicle while you're parked. Because I garage my vehicle, I felt that this feature wasn't worth tapping into the vehicle's fuse box. Instead, I plugged the Mini5 directly into the 12v power socket.
Key Features of the Mini5
Tumblr media
The Mini5 offers an LED on the rear of the camera that will blink green if there is an issue with the unit's storage. Assuming the unit is in an area where you can easily see the LED, this should be all that you need to determine if the camera is working correctly.
For the Mini5, we think this is a great feature. If something goes wrong with your dashcam, it's always better to know about it before an accident occurs. The ability to see an indication of malfunction without opening the app is a massive plus for the Mini5.
Another feature that is worth noting is the built-in loop recording function. This function means you won't have to miss recording because your storage is full. In this case, the Mini5 will continue to overwrite the oldest video in favor of a more recent one. That means you don't have to bother with formatting SD cards or with swapping them out when one fills up.
While we're on the topic of storage, this unit uses 64 GB of eMMC memory for storage. This type of memory means that the transfer of videos to the internal storage is lightning fast compared to TF cards, but it also means that you don't have a way to repair storage that becomes corrupt. If the storage on this camera fails, then you'll be buying a whole new unit.
The Mini5 has a supercapacitor to power the device, and the camera can handle temperatures of -4F up to 158F. So even in extreme environments, the camera shouldn't complain. For folks like me, who live in New England, this is important. On the other hand, I have seen temps drop into the negative double digits here, so this might not be the best bet for frigid environments.
Tumblr media
As for the sensor, the Mini5 sports an 8MP CMOS Sony IMX415. Sony's sensors are well-respected in the realm of dashboard cameras, and this sensor offers superb image reproduction with bright and reasonably accurate—though slightly over-saturated—colors.
The camera uses DDPai's Realcube color box technology and algorithm models for image processing. This technology offers a sharper focus and allows greater detail for reading things like road signs and license plates when reviewing footage.
The lens on this unit offers a 140-degree viewing angle and an f/1.8 aperture. The wide aperture means the camera can take in more light at night or in low-light environments.
The wide-angle is also great for getting a good look at the area surrounding your vehicle, so you don't lose critical contextual details if you wind up in a fender-bender. The lens on this unit is pretty sharp, though there is noticeable barrel distortion—that fisheye effect—toward the edges. But, with such a wide field of view, this isn't unexpected.
Finally, the Mini5 also takes advantage of SR2.0 (Sensor Reality), an augmented reality interface that allows access to real-time data like speed, turn, incline, decline, and lane change data. The camera uses an included high-precision 6-axis gyroscope sensor to generate this data.
This sensor also instructs the camera to take a snapshot if it senses an impact and sensitivity is adjustable. SR2.0 is a pretty neat feature, and it's nice to have access to that data within the video interface in case you're forced to answer questions like "do you know how fast you were going?"

Daytime and Nighttime Image Quality Testing With the Mini5
Tumblr media
We wanted to test this unit both in the daytime and at night to determine if camera performance would suffer in low light. The performance of this unit was outstanding during the day, and both video and stills were decently sharp. It was easy to make out license plates and road signs when stopped. When in motion, the camera blurred the details a bit, but this is something that my research has shown to be common with most dash cams, regardless of manufacturer. Even the best quality dashboard camera and lens aren't going to be tack-sharp when moving 20 MPH or more.
Tumblr media
As for low-light performance, the Mini5 did a decent job, though brightly lit street signs seemed to get blown out. There was also significant lens flare on passing street lights and headlights. It wasn't horrendous, but it was noticeable during playback. While it seems like the sensor on the Mini5 operates best in higher light situations, the low-light performance is good enough, though not mind-blowing. Additionally, to my eye, the barrel distortion is slightly more noticeable at night.
Tumblr media
I should also mention that the camera breaks up recordings into 60-second intervals when directly accessing the device. You can extend this to 3 minutes by using the app.
Audio Recording and Alerts
Tumblr media
This area is one where the Mini5 is seriously lacking. To us, audio recording is not as crucial in dashboard cameras, and some states won't let you record others without their consent (check your local laws), so this isn't much of an issue. Regardless, the audio recording feature of this camera is horrible.
Playback sounds like it was recorded while someone was trying to smother the driver with a damp blanket. Even at high volumes, the audio was muddy and almost useless. My advice in this department is to turn the audio recording function off and not bother with it unless it's an absolute emergency.
In addition to that, the alert functions of the Mini5 should also be disabled. The ADAS system constantly spouts phrases like "front car launching" and "too close to front car," even if you're operating your vehicle safely. At first, these alerts are amusing, but after about ten miles, the novelty has worn off, and notifications become annoying.

Like most connected devices these days, the DDPai Mini5 has an app that is the primary means of control. To initiate the app, you power on the camera, then connect to its Wi-Fi via your phone's settings. From there, you can explore the Mini5's settings, as well as watch a live video feed. The app also has a community where DDPai camera users can share video footage and interact.
As for the app here, there were several problems using it. First was the fact that it would not establish a consistent connection to the camera. It usually took two or three tries before the app would allow you to enter the settings or the video feed. On occasion, the unit would drop the connection entirely. The whole app experience felt surprisingly unpolished for such an expensive unit, though this may change as DDPai upgrades.
The only practical purpose of this app, for me at least, was to change the Mini5's settings. Once you set everything up the way you like it, though, it's almost easier to remove the camera from your vehicle and connect it to your computer when you'd like to monitor footage.

Is the Mini5 Dash Cam Worth It?
Tumblr media
There is a lot about the Mini5 that warrants consideration if you're in the market for a dashboard camera. If you turn the alerts and ADAS system off, this camera provides a hassle-free way of keeping track of your commute. You plug it in and let it record.
Removability is another excellent feature of the Mini5. It's small enough to fit in a purse or pocket if you're not comfortable leaving it mounted to your windshield. It's also quick to reinstall once you're back in the car.
The loop recording is also helpful, and it's nice not to worry about swapping out memory cards. This camera will be a solid pick for those users who prefer to be hands-off with their in-car electronics.
Image quality is also above average, letting you see tiny details that might be important if you're in an accident or need to fight a traffic ticket. Additionally, the camera is small enough that it doesn't attract much attention.
Finally, the installation was a breeze, and the two ways to power this camera are nice if you need options or only have one 12V power socket.
What's Not to Love?
Tumblr media
There are three main gripes that I have with this camera. The first is sound. Recording playback is painful, and the ADAS and alerts systems aren't very useful in their current state. While lane departure and collision detection are essential to some people, most modern vehicles have these features already built-in. The numerous false alerts from the ADAS system of the Mini5 were also relatively obnoxious after a bit, so turning off the speaking aspects of this unit is advisable.
My second concern is the app interface. This app needs some significant work to feel user-friendly. The camera fails to connect half of the time, despite the strong Wi-Fi signal, and sometimes the camera's wireless network isn't even broadcast.
The DDPai app is probably one of the worst apps I've seen for any electronic device in recent years. The rating on the iOS app store is a scant two stars, and the rating on the Google Play store is only one star higher.
Finally, I see the built-in storage as a potential problem here. Because this is non-removable storage, if it fails, then the entire camera will need to be replaced.
Can You Repair the Mini5?
This unit is not repairable. When it stops working, you'll have to buy another one. DDPai offers a one-year warranty against any manufacturer defects.
Should You Buy the Mini5 by DDPai
For folks looking to buy a mid-tier 4K UHD dashboard camera, the Mini5 will scratch the itch. It's a decent unit with some great features. If you don't need onboard audio for your recordings, then you'll do just fine with this unit.
Also, if you don't mind connecting the camera to your computer to download footage, then the Mini5 will serve your needs well. It does what a dashboard camera is supposed to do—records excellent-looking video that will keep people honest.
But, if you're looking for a solid app interface, removable storage, and audio that doesn't sound like it was recorded underwater, then the DDPai Mini5 isn't for you. In that case, other options on the market demonstrate better quality at only a slightly higher price.
Overall, the Mini5 gets the job done, and without audio cues enabled, you can forget it's there. While this might sound like a bad thing, a dashboard camera should be unobtrusive. It shouldn't be so noticeable you think about it every time you look out the windshield. At this feat, the Mini5 excels. It disappears until you need it, and that is probably my favorite feature.

LG K92 5G Review
Over the past few years, midrange phones have come into their own. Gone are the mediocre build quality and disappointing displays; instead, you can easily find something with a gorgeous screen and top-notch construction for a reasonable price. Unfortunately, the LG K92 5G ($400) is the wrong kind of blast from the past. This 5G smartphone can't match its obvious competitors, the Google Pixel 4a 5G ($499) and TCL 10 5G UW ($400). It's a carrier-locked phone, like the TCL 10 5G, but only works on AT&T's painfully slow low-band 5G network. It also suffers from poky performance, short battery life, and lackluster build quality that make it hard to recommend.
Big Display, Flimsy Build
At 6.6 by 3.0 by 0.3 inches (HWD) and 7.1 ounces, the K92 5G is a big phone that will fight for room in your pocket. The front of the phone is dominated by a 6.7-inch LCD with pronounced bezels all the way around.
Display resolution clocks in at 2,400 by 1,080 with a 393ppi pixel density. The display is bright and crisp; colors skew slightly warm. Viewing angles are decent, but you'll definitely lose some clarity if you're not looking at the display head on. The biggest issue, however, is the very noticeable shadow beneath the camera cutout. Head on, you'll only notice a slight shadow, but if you look at the phone at any other angle, it becomes very pronounced.
The back of the K92 5G is constructed of a glossy purple plastic. It looks sharp at first but picks up fingerprints and scratches very easily. Though other midrange phones like the Pixel 4a use plastic backplates, they still feel substantial. The K92 5G, on the other, hand, feels a little flimsy. If you tap its back, you'll be greeted with a hollow thud.
There's a thick horizontal stripe for the camera module and flash on the back of the phone. Everything, with the exception of the primary lens, sits flush against the phone and looks very sleek.
The speaker grille, USB-C charging port, and headphone jack sit on the bottom of the bottom of the phone. The top is home to a SIM/microSD slot. On the left you'll find the Google Assistant and volume buttons. The buttons are thin and fairly flush with the phone, and if you have small hands they can be difficult to reach.
There's a power button on the right side of the phone that also houses the fingerprint sensor. It's accurate but a little slow. When you tap your finger to unlock, the screen goes dark for about a second, leaving you to wonder whether your fingerprint registered at all.
Though plastic backplates tend to withstand drops and dings better than their glass counterparts, it feels like there's very little additional support behind the K92 5G's backplate. When we've noticed this in the past, most often on entry-level phones, we've found them to be much more prone to cracks.
There's also no IP rating on the phone, meaning any accidental immersion in water is likely going to mean its demise. And then there's the issue of the display. LG doesn't state that the K92 5G uses any sort of strengthened glass for its display, and we reached out to the company and did not receive a reply. After some digging, it appears the display is made of traditional sodium glass, which will not weather drops well at all. If you're planning to make the K92 5G your next daily-use phone, you'll definitely want to pick up a sturdy case.
Half the 5G Goodness
When it comes to connectivity, the K92 5G is a bit of a strange bird. It's a carrier exclusive for AT&T and Cricket Wireless that is optimized for that network, and it is a 5G phone, but it will never work on AT&T's ultra-fast mmWave network because it only has a sub-6GHz modem. That said, AT&T has played down the importance of its mmWave network, to the point of never releasing a map of the areas it covers.
Overall connectivity is poor, but that's due more to AT&T's network and software requirements than to the K92 5G's hardware. We tested the phone on AT&T's 5G network in Memphis and recorded average speeds of 28.4Mbps down and 3.81Mbps up. On a less congested network in Arkansas, average speeds increased to 45.2Mbps down and 4.67Mbps up. I suspect LTE network speeds would be much better, but AT&T disables the option to turn off 5G connectivity on its phones, so there's no way for us to verify it or for a user to take advantage of it.
We found call quality to be adequate during our test calls. Maximum earpiece volume clocks in at 88dB, which is loud enough to use in just about any scenario. We noticed some static at higher volumes during half of our test calls. Noise cancellation, however, worked perfectly on every call.
Audio quality is disappointing. Though the K92 5G boasts stereo speakers, the top and bottom speakers are unbalanced; in our tests, the bottom speaker maxed out at 101dB compared with just 81dB for the top speaker. In general, audio is forward and harsh, creating significant congestion. Fortunately, there's a headphone jack on board for wired audio.
The K92 5G supports dual-band Wi-Fi, as well as Bluetooth 5.1. NFC is also onboard for mobile payments and boarding passes.
Sluggish Performer
With the exception of the recently released OnePlus Nord N10 5G, the LG K92 is the only 5G smartphone in the US that uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon 690 processor. It's a step down from the 700-series processors that have become common on midrange 5G phones such as the Google Pixel 4a, the Revvl 5G UW, and the TCL 10 5G UW. There's 6GB of RAM as well as 128GB of storage, of which just 95GB is available when you open the box. You can add storage with a microSD card.
In theory, the K92's Snapdragon 690 chipset should be powerful enough to hold its own for the average user, but we found it limped along in our tests. Apps took a little longer than expected to open, screen transitions lagged, and, on more than one occasion, the phone briefly froze up when we opened apps.
Gaming is a miss as well. We tested the K92 5G with Alto's Odyssey and Asphalt 8: Airborne for nearly two hours and noticed long load times and intermittent skipped frames. The phone froze entirely at one point while playing Asphalt 8, forcing us to reboot it.
Benchmark tests yielded interesting results. On Geekbench 5, a suite of tests that measures raw computing power, the K92 5G earned 602 single-core (SC) and 1,734 multi-core (MC) scores. That's on par with the OnePlus Nord N10 (578 SC/1,846MC) and even the more powerful TCL 10 5G UW (618 SC/1,911MC).
Of course, Geekbench results only tells part of the story. On PCMark 2.0 and Basemark Web, benchmark suites that use real-world applications, the K92 5G lagged behind on tasks like video editing and web browsing. Add in a GFXBench Car Chase Offscreen score of 14fps versus the average score of 21fps we've seen on Snapdragon 765 chipsets, it starts to look like the phone's underwhelming GPU may be at least partially to blame for some of the lag we experienced.
A 4,000mAh battery powers the K92 5G. Despite the phone's energy-efficient processor, its battery is anemic for a phone with a 6.7-inch display. In our battery drain test, which streams HD video over Wi-Fi at full brightness, the K92 5G eked out just 8 hours and 7 minutes before shutting down. What's more, we found that the battery depleted quickly even when it wasn't being used; during our week of testing, the battery drained an average of 17 percent overnight.
If you do find yourself veering into the red by the end of the day, the K92 5G supports fast charging with Quick Charge 4.0. That means you can easily gain a few hours of battery life in about five minutes, or add 80% charge to your depleted battery in about an hour. Wireless charging, however, is not an option.
Cameras That (Mostly) Shine in Good Light
On the back of the K92 5G, you'll find a quad camera stack with a 64MP primary lens with an f/1.8 aperture, a 5MP ultra-wide sense with an f/2.2 aperture, and 2MP depth and macro sensors. A 16MP selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture sits on the front of the phone.
Let's start with the 64MP primary lens. In good light, it does a surprisingly solid job. Our test shots were crisp with excellent background detail and depth of field. In low light, there was some loss of fine detail, and we noticed overly aggressive noise cancellation in a few test shots, but overall, the K92 5G does well for a midrange phone.
The 5MP ultra-wide lens did a pretty decent job in good light. There was no complex distortion like we often see on midrange wide-angle lenses. However, there was a noticeable loss of fine detail in most of our shots. Low-light photos, on the other hand, featured noticeable edge noise. There were some unexplained halos in a few shots that may have been caused by natural phenomena.
The K92 5G's macro lens, like most we've tested, fails to stand out. Nearly all our test shots appeared flat and had significant detail loss in the foreground.
The 16MP front-facing camera does an excellent job in good light. All of our test photos were crisp with excellent depth of field. In low light, however, the selfie cam struggles. Our test shots looked flat and noise started to creep in around the edges.
LG offers several different Portrait mode options on the K92 5G. Thanks to the 5MP depth sensor, all work well on the rear camera. For our test shots, we used the Blur setting. All of our test shots had a natural-looking bokeh with accurate subject mapping.
Portraits with the selfie cam are a bit more hit or miss. We found issues with subject mapping around shoulders and hats in nearly every shot. In photos where the subject and background were the same color, we noticed areas where the bokeh effect simply didn't work.
Android 10 With Dozens of Unwelcome Extras
The K92 5G ships features Android 10 with LG's custom UI. Over the past few years, LG's skin has become more user-friendly, but it's still a pretty heavy-handed take on Android. Icons have a unique look, the Settings menu is organized a little differently, and even the Search bar is not the same as you'll find on stock Android. It's not a bad thing, necessarily, but if you're not used to LG devices, it takes a while to get your bearings.
Unfortunately, the K92 is filled with nearly two dozen bloatware applications, including shopping apps, games, and AT&T and LG's branded apps. It's excessive and completely inexcusable for an unsubsidized phone to ship with nearly 15GB of apps you didn't request.
It's not clear whether the K92 5G will get an upgrade to Android 11. If it does, expect to see it in the distant future, since it will need to be pushed through the carrier. We've reached out to LG inquire about future software upgrades but have yet to hear back.
Simply Not a Contender
The LG K92 5G sounds like a solid smartphone on paper, but we found it to be a weak competitor when compared to the Google Pixel 4a and TCL 10 5G UW. Given the quality concerns, poor battery life, and underwhelming performance—not to mention its mediocre display—it's hard for us to find any outstanding features that makes the K92 5G worth consideration. AT&T customers looking for a 5G phone will find the Pixel 4a 5G a far superior option.

Having a music video can assist promote your band, through video...
youtube
Having a music video can assist promote your band, through video sites such as YouTube and Facebook. If you’re a filmmaker making a music video is a great way of getting exposure and experience and bands are frequently happy to give you totally free reign, creatively-speaking. A video doesn’t require to cost a fortune– what is very important is having a good idea and working within your spending plan. Some production companies charge a fortune for even the easiest marketing video, but you can quickly do it yourself like Komodo. First things initially. You need to pick your pop music. While it may make good sense to make a video for your upcoming single there are a few other factors to consider: It can take a lot longer than you think to make a video, so by the time it’s completed your single may have already come out. It might be a concept to think about making the video for a subsequent single. Having said that, in these days of web streaming, any track can be viewed as a single, so there might be a track on the album that you have a fantastic idea for a video for, even if that track wasn’t originally prepared as a single. Bear in mind that it can take a very long time to shoot and edit each second of video so while you might have a good idea for a video for that 10 minute impressive that closes the album, it might be more practical to shoot a video for the three minute pop song.
Tumblr media
Nevertheless complicated (or easy) your shoot is, you’ll need a team of individuals. In addition to the actors/performers you’ll need: Video camera individual– A minimum of one, and maybe more. Lighting Person– If you’re shooting inside you’ll need lighting, and somebody to take care of it. Director/dogsbody– You require someone in charge of the shoot, making certain everything is running efficiently, and who can purchase batteries when you require them. It’s an excellent concept to provide some type of drinks or snacks for your crew– that will not only keep them pleased but likewise stop them popping off to the shop to get their supplies, just when you require them for the shoot. Ideally, you’ll be able to recruit a team who have their own equipment. If you need to get devices, then you’ll wish to get the very best your budget plan permits. While prices are boiling down, purchasing a cam, lights and other equipment will still set you back a little fortune. You’ll have the ability to get more devices for your cash by renting equipment; many locations have neighborhood arts programs where you can rent devices cheaply. You can likewise have a look at the regional colleges in your location to see if they can assist. If you are aiming to buy equipment, then do your research. The more preparation you can do in advance, the quicker you’ll be able to shoot. If you’re leasing equipment, the quicker you can shoot, the less it will cost you. If you’re depending on favors, individuals will be more going to help again if you keep the spending time to a minimum. To plan, you must: Draw storyboards revealing each scene and shot List the team, performers, and props you’ll need for each shot Try and inform the cam and lighting people beforehand, so they understand what you want from the shot. On the day of the shoot be prepared and arranged. Keep a record of shots you’ve made; it’ll make modifying much easier. Always allow plenty of time for shooting– the ended up shot may only last 10 seconds, however might quickly take numerous hours to establish and shoot. When you enjoy with a shot, if you have time, shoot it again. You can never have too much video footage, and the re-take might capture something that you hadn’t noticed the first time around. You’ll have your strategy and storyboard to follow, but bear in mind that some of the best minutes in a video can be unexpected. Keep the electronic camera rolling– nowadays video storage is cheap. Filming the band playing live can offer you with terrific footage for a music video. Recording the band at a gig will imply you’ll be able to record the bands live energy and their interaction with the audience. There are some problems, nevertheless: The band will only play the pop music you’re making the video for as soon as, so you’ll only have one chance of catching the ideal footage. The live variation may vary considerably from the tape-recorded version, so syncing the video footage with the track could be problematic. The band’s, and particularly the audience’s, movements won’t be choreographed, so you, or your cam person, won’t know where to be to record the best shots. The lighting and impacts might look terrific to the audience however may not look terrific to the cam. Your recording might disrupt the band’s efficiency. Live shooting may provide you with some excellent video that can be used as part of a video, but if you want the live video footage to synch to a video, your best choice is to “stage” a live performance. Get the band to play along (or mime) to the track in front of an audience of mates or welcomed fans. You can then control the lighting, individuals’s movements and get the track played as often times as you require (or at least till the band decamps to the bar.). You can enliven your video by adding stock video, however you need to be mindful that, like music, almost all video footage undergoes strict copyright law. Using footage without the copyright holders’ express permission is illegal. (That shot from Leading Gun might look terrific in your video, however you’ll require permission from Paramount Pictures to use it). However, there are sources of video that you can legally use. Royalty-free video is video you can recycle in any setting, without asking approval or paying the copyright holder a charge each time you utilize it, however you may need to pay a fee to get it in the first place. Fear not: there is plenty of totally free royalty-free video footage (footage that remains in the public domain). There is a growing number of video being offered under innovative commons licenses - initial product that the copyright owner has actually participated in the public domain with particular conditions attached (generally that the original author is credited). Your video might be great, however it’ll only become an excellent video through modifying. To do a great task, you’ll require perseverance, time and more persistence.
You’ll need to choose the “feel” and rate of the pop music video. Will it be made up of long sweeping shots, or quick sharp edits? Do you want to follow the state of mind of the pop songs and modify to the music or do you desire the video to contrast with the track? The judicious use of the right effect can set your video apart. In addition to your software application or app’s standard results. A word of warning: if you’re making a video as a band it’s usually best to entrust the editing process to one person. After they have actually done a rough edit, you can discuss how it ought to be completed, but if 4 individuals sit around all attempting to edit a video together a long procedure will end up being excruciating and, almost undoubtedly, will end in falling outs. Nowadays reasonably affordable or free software application can do an expert task of modifying. The fundamental video software for Apple users is iMovie, and numerous others use Adobe’s Best as a great location to start. A lot of computer systems and digital gadgets should be capable of modifying film footage. Video editing takes up a great deal of disk drive area, so keep your hard drive clean and get rid of footage you’re not utilizing (but be careful not to erase video you ARE using!). Purchasing a new hard disk drive to store your video footage on is most likely a good idea.
Tumblr media
The output format will depend upon its location. Highly compressed formats are best for streaming over the internet (Quicktime and MP4 are among the most common), DVDs are still sometimes used for sending out to the press and media, and a DigiBeta tape may still be required for some TV broadcasts (something you’ll need to get made up at an expert production company). How many videos have you seen on MTV or YouTube that include the band playing in a club, with the lights flashing whilst the audience jump up and down? Exactly. Try and think of something various when you make your video. Filming a Hollywood hit on a small spending plan will generally appear like crap! Be Careful of Using Excessive Zoom. It may look cool while you’re shooting it, but in the final edit zooming often looks clichéd, and unless finished with a really constant hand can frequently look incompetent. Avoid Using Excessive Special Results. Even one of the most fundamental video editing software application has a myriad of special impacts for you to utilize; color changing, rolling edits, split screens, it’s suggested to utilize them moderately. A good video isn’t a display for how many effects you have actually mastered. It’s generally better to use a number of effects throughout the video to develop a specific feel instead of utilize as many effects as you can to make a video exciting (if you require to do this, then maybe it’s time to reassess your idea. or add some more video - see Actions 4, 5 and 6). But Consider Adding Sound Impacts. A significant video may be improved with some additional sound effects. If your video begins with someone walking down the street, you could add the sound of steps or ambient street noise over the introduction. If you’re making a music video for somebody else make certain they will not mind you including sound results to their perfectly crafted tune! Don’t Be Over Ambitious. A simple idea well performed is frequently more reliable than a complex idea done severely. And Disregard All I’ve Stated. The most intriguing videos are made when the rules of convention are bent, buckled and broken, so keep exploring and above all else, make something interesting. Sneer all you like, however the truth is that most of us would enjoy to produce a record that gets placed on heavy radio rotation. There’s not simply the industrial aspect to consider - to a large level, pop music is where the cash is - however likewise the fulfillment that comes from understanding that you have actually been able to use the musical desires of a large cross-section of the public.
What’s more, when you consider that pop songs typically draws motivation from ‘underground’ categories (dubstep being a prime modern example), you may start to realise that you currently have a number of the abilities needed to create a hit record. Crafting a pop smash isn’t easy, however, so here are 8 vital pieces of advice for anybody who wishes to try and make it take place. 1. Do not overdo it. These days, a huge, complete sound is absolutely important. It might appear rather counter-intuitive at first, but the fewer components you utilize, the simpler it is to achieve a huge noise. The theory is that each sound can be blended additional loud when there’s little for it to take on in regards to headroom and frequency space. This has the advantage of making whatever supremely bold and clear.
Instead of pouring your efforts into adding more noises, attempt to be affordable, with as couple of instrument parts as you can fairly get away with. Above all, leave a lot of space for vocals to sit on top of everything else. 2. Get the singing right Pop vocals don’t need to be carried out by exceptional vocalists. In fact, the vocal efficiency no longer needs to be impressive in the standard sense - but it does still require to be remarkable generally. Manufacturers are constantly searching for brand-new methods to procedure and deal with vocals in order to add interest to the listening experience, so make a routine of experimenting with your recordings. Nevertheless, no amount of processing will save a genuinely horrible efficiency. Oblivious critics may suggest it can, but it’s merely not real that any random body off the street can sing a pop track. Without indicating to soft-pedal the role of innovation, excellent vocals still require skill, just as they constantly have actually done. 3. Look further afield Keep your finger on the cultural pulse, and regularly have a look at advances in innovation. Often a new piece of software application greatly specifies what will be heard in the pop charts. Also, pop culture influences all types of media, not just music When retro '80s style returned in a couple of years earlier, so too did the noises from that age in popular music. Such hints should assist you to tap into the trends of today’s society and get a headstart on the next big thing. 4. Feel the music. Stylistic choices can be difficult to call, so let your tastes direct you. It’s all well and good listening to other artists’ like Komodo music and analysing it, however the most useful info will always be your own emotional reaction to the music itself. Ask yourself what you discover exciting about it and consider what might work that hasn’t been done yet. Do something similar to Komodo. You do not need to reinvent the wheel, either. A lot of modern-day pop tracks are the result of the crossbreeding of various genres. Experiments in this area are likely to lead you to unique sounds that have their roots in tried-and-tested formulas. The ideal pop music songs sounds both new and familiar at the same time.
Tumblr media
5. Mix for all ears For a song to stand any opportunity of succeeding as a pop record, it requires to boast a pristine and interesting mix. A good mixdown will sound great on playback systems of all kinds, which is exactly what’s needed. It requires to sound excellent in a club, so make sure the low end extends low, like a dance or hip-hop record. It likewise needs to sound good through headphones, so a thoroughly considered stereo image will make you benefit points with the listener. These are sensible mix ideas that ought to constantly use, however the pop market is ending up being significantly intolerant of sonic drawbacks. 6. Work that mass appeal You have actually got to be reasonable to a degree and keep in mind that in order to interest mass audiences, the overall visual of the song ought to be extremely available. This is the same theory that determines that decorating a house in neutral colours will increase its rental prospects. While production aspects within modern pop can be gritty and brash, the pop and the overall production is almost never extreme, challenging or self-important in any way, since those qualities are typically repellent to the music-buying public. On the other side, the threat of being too neutral is that you risk being uninteresting. Easy to listen to does not always imply lacking character. 7. Listen around Listen to lots of music to expand your taste. Music gratitude is a skill in itself. The more varied your tastes are, the much better you’ll be able to comprehend what turns a noise into music at the most basic level. This has the ripple effect of increasing your musical scheme, which can only be a good thing. Likewise, the more music you comprehend, the more possible you’ll see in your own ideas, and the much better equipped you’ll be to establish a basic idea into a full-blown song. Dip into music’s history, but ensure you prioritize modern-day music to get a concept of what switches on the present generation. 8. Trust your instincts Do not hesitate to neglect everything you’ve just read! Well, sort of. It’s best to be knowledgeable about all of these things at some level, however there is something to be stated for innovation and originality. If you strongly feel that breaking convention is going to work in a particular case then don’t be prevented from introducing forwards - simply make certain you take these concepts into factor to consider. If you’re right, you could be on to something huge. On the other hand, while it’s OK in principle to disagree with what everybody else is doing, there’s no reason for simply getting it incorrect due to the fact that you wilfully overlooked the reasons things are done the method they are.
