In usual grey scale issues it is impossible to see, but the last episode reminded me of how colorful Steven's gem is in contrast to WD's pale white gem.

I don't know if it's supposed to mean anything or not, but for me it symbolises how unlike White, Steven can see how complicated things actually are and can look at them from different perspectives.
