“....I do try to make my work teeter on the edge of what is possible and what isn't. I have often felt like we are on this razor thin edge of existence. One tiny shift and it can all spin way out of control and out of existence. I feel our limited ability to perceive the world and the universe for that matter lies in our point of perception.” . “Figments”. W.S. Cranmore, 2020. 18x24in, mixed medium on heavy paper. ~ “This is the eternal origin of art that a human being confronts a form that wants to become a work through him. Not a figment of his soul but something that appears to the soul and demands the soul's creative power. What is required is a deed that a man does with his whole being.” -Martin Buber . . . . #figments #emergentmagazine #artbudget #artforyourhome #arteveryday #originalartwork #artconsultant #collectableart #abstractpromoter #buyoriginalart #wallartdecor #artdirect #artevent #americanartist #wscranmore #globalartnetwork #abstractfull #artcollectors #magcontemporary #whitehotmagazine (at Milwaukie, Oregon) https://www.instagram.com/p/CLktHRVHbjJ/?igshid=1km6gg1lz8riw

Jonathan Goodman reviews “Susan Vecsey: In Between” for @whitehotmagazine One of the best pieces in the show is the triptych, an oil on paper, called Untitled (White/Lavender) (2019). This is an unusual piece; most of the other paintings occur on linen, whose pattern can be seen through the paint. In this work, white fills the upper two-thirds of the painting, while a low mountainous presence, composed of three different shades of lavender, takes up the lower third of the painting. Or the image could also be read as a body of water, a lake or pond, backed by low, dark hills. The inevitability of multiple readings also exists in Vecsey’s art, which occupies several terrains, actual and imagined, at once. Her decision to work in this way pushes to the side our impulse to fix the art in a specific context or meaning; its multiple valences, aided by the sharpness of outlook that comes from preparatory work before the paintings are made, created a world that impresses us as Vecsey’s own--but also clearly in the service of nature. There are times when nature offers abstraction as a part of its array of forms, and the artist knows this well. The result is not only an intelligent reading of form, it is a merger of ways of thinking with separate histories and origins--a joining of decided worth. #susanvecsey #vecsey #inbetween #soloexhibition #nycart #hamptonsartist #artreview #jonathangoodman #whitehotmagazine #noahbecker #chelseagalleries #onview #w24 #artgallery #berrycampbell (at Berry Campbell) https://www.instagram.com/p/CC4nTd7Fh1F/?igshid=10rlg5scuy8c3

As many of you know, KHLOARIS hosts screenings in addition to its production work. Here is a screening KF from KHLOARIS put together in Bushwick in November of 2016 with Noah Becker from Whitehot Magazine. We screened Noah’s film “New York is Now,” and it was followed by a panel moderated Noah, who was joined by artists Michael Anderson, Spencer Tunick, Michael Holman, Bibbe Hansen and Miguel Gesso. We had a good crowd, and it was a nice friendly night all around. KHLOARIS is interested in all sorts of art/ art film/highbrow content as well as cult/trash/lowbrow content. We should have more screenings coming up going after both of these aesthetics. Contact us if you have anything unusual you’d like us to show. (This image is reposted from ofthe zine, who took this and posted it at the time.) @whitehotmagazine @ofthezine @newyorkbecker @chamuconegro @leigh_b_37 @bibbe.hansen @spencertunick @miguelgessosaint @michaelholman101 #khloaris #whitehot #whitehotmagazine #noahbecker #ofthezine #newyorkisnow #michaelanderson #spencertunick #michaelholman #bibbehansen #miguelgesso #screening #artfilm #artdocumentary #artscreens #art #documentaryscreening #filmprogramming #curation #diy #newyorkart #newyorkartscene #bushwick #Brooklyn #productioncompany #screeningcollective #secretcinema #popupmovie #microcinema #paneldiscussion (at Bushwick, Brooklyn) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bzvu2PXlJ3b/?igshid=1afhlnmutugq5

Thank you @debonthearts for the thoughtful review of @mister_caitlin’s “Lazarus Taxa” for @whitehotmagazine. “Works such as Pyre (2017) succeed on their own terms as well as within the larger show. Depicting a charred-looking two-headed skull and torso, it’s laid out on a white ground the resembles not a doily or tablecloth, but a curtain, hinting at yet another Victorian reference—the infamous “freak shows,” where those who did not belong in society at large were made into objects of ridicule and mockery. The title Pyre suggests the sacrifice made by the two-headed individual whose only method of surviving was to subject themselves to everyday cruelty before and behind the curtain.” Read more here: https://whitehotmagazine.com/articles/caitlin-mccormack-crochets-beautiful-macabre/3849 #caitlinmccormack #lazarustaxa #deborahkrieger #whitehotmagazine #paradigmgallery (at Paradigm Gallery + Studio)

“Susan Vecey: In Between” reviewed by Jonathan Goodman @whitehotmagazine ・・・ SUSAN VECSEY @berrycampbell - “In Between,” the title of Susan Vecsey’s show, refers both to the strange period of quarantine we currently find ourselves living in, as well as the double nature of the painter’s work, in which she floats an acquaintance with artists such as Mark Rothko and Helen Frankenthaler. I’m so honored to be featured in @whitehotmagazine today with a beautifully written piece by the very eloquent @vittoriabenzine! Vittoria and I FaceTimed for an hour and talked about my life, career and art. This article reveals a lot about me and my past and it was honor to share it with such a wonderful listener and writer. Here’s a quote from the article- the rest is on the link in bio! • “The more that I've learned who I am, the more that I’ve found myself, the more it shows in my work and the more people like my work,” he continued. Now that he’s embraced his inner brightness, Naylor is harnessing that wattage to create upward spirals of dazzling alacrity. “Positivity is a result of optimism combined with hard work and gratitude,” he stated. Naylor’s work is pretty, but this doesn’t preclude him from grit or the same principles underpinning radical archetypes. If punk rock is truly the practice of everything anti-establishment, then fostering optimism in a culture of cynics is revolutionary. “I grew up in a place and a family and a culture that says wearing black is what bad people do, getting tattoos is what bad people do,” Naylor told me. “I have this fantasy of exemplifying happiness with this rock and roll attitude.” • Thank you Vittoria for this! I appreciate you! Thanks @whitehotmagazine! And thanks @girlseesart 🙌💞 — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/39l3g3A
