I’ve been silent for awhile on VC News bc the previous bulletin was... A LOT. @sanguinivora​ has also reminded me that I ought to share some thoughts on it... Today, @wicked-felina​ linked me to this update, and I gotta share it,  I have a lot of faith in this series now 😂

The company is looking to turn Rice’s collection of novels, which include the Vampire Chronicles and Mayfair Witches series, into a franchise with Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul producer Mark Johnson overseeing the rollout. Johnson, who has an overall agreement with AMC Studios, will take the lead on the universe.

FIRST OF ALL yes, give us a Mayfair/VC crossover that WORKS. Second of all, BrBa and BCS was soooo well done, rich and layered villains and protagonists. The writing, casting, acting, music, sets, ALL OF IT, just perfection for those. Oh yeah, AMC also did The Walking Dead, massively successful series, which is only now waning IMO bc I think they're running out of ideas That's the source material's fault, in a way, tho.

“The challenge of adapting for television the groundbreaking and immensely compelling work of Anne Rice is both intimidating and exhilarating,” Johnson said. “Having previously produced films from such singular works, I recognize both the responsibility and the obligation we owe the material. I strongly believe that with AMC and Rolin Jones we are equipped to meet this challenge and to thrill and entertain both the loyal Anne Rice fan and the viewer who is just now discovering her work.”

😭😭😭🙏 🙏 🙏 YASSSSS I trust that they want to adapt it as canon-compliant as possible. This makes me trust that they'll really try to adapt the material, which is truly strong enough that it doesn’t need much tweaking.

Like, if he's saying this kind of thing, it shows how much he respects the material and where it was born from. Pretty high compliment there, too, we saw that, Mr. Jones 😏

LOOK AT THIS HE'S INVOKING THE TERMINOLOGY I think he read the books, at least the first several. The Savage Garden concept is in TVL, IIRC...

15k - 40k a day?! Reveal your secrets! (I received a Fitbit for Christmas so genuine question).

This time of year is harder due to short days and snow but I walk an hour every day to and from work which gives me a base of 7000, I can usually get another 3000-5000 walking around the library and I hike a lot or do things like laps on the local outdoor stairs or climbing the one big hill in my city. A normal mountain is like 15000-40000 steps, and backpacking trips add up even faster. Basically I have a hiking problem that makes me fairly active (assuming my back stops acting up, that recent development has been scaring me)

Hello all! I hope you're doing well in these strange times. I'm sorry I've been so absent. Many of us would agree that it's been a hard year for everyone, in every area of life, relationships strained by quarantining (together or apart!) and other reasons, in many ways I think we've had less cushion for each other in the section of the Lord's prayer "forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us;" whether you're a believer or not.

At least for me, it was especially hard to get into the escapism needed for writing fanfic, or doing any real artistic endeavor, other than an excessive amount of baking and sewing masks. @wicked-felina​ (Rebness) and I were playing with plot bunnies recently and we chose one to nurture into a ficlet, here's the first chapter of a small piece we hope you'll enjoy!

The pain seared through my entire leg, sharpened and focused itself at the wound site, and as Daniel had aptly pointed out, it hurt no less just because I am a vampire. The blood still trickled out, but was not the gush it had been at the moment of impact, and the throbbing threatened my sanity enough to draw moans, but I kept my teeth shut; at least I had that much dignity. Still, ugly sounds escaped.

It had been mere minutes ago when I was unpierced, intact... there had been some argument about whether “an eye for an eye” applied, and I hadn’t had much of a chance to engage with it before I was shot like an unsuspecting buck in a forest. By someone who had once claimed to love me, someone who had once held my body tenderly against his own, someone who had drawn passion from it.

I shut my eyes tightly and tried to imagine what a sunrise might look like through the opening in the tent in which I lay supine, anything to soothe my mind. I could envision a lavender sky with rosy wisps of clouds skimming gently along, the warmth of the rising sun just tickling at my feet, which were still on the edge of the unzipped tent entrance, blood trailing behind them.
