OMG ur a comics collector? that's so cool! what are ur faves/good ones for beginners (a friend has been trying to get me to read daredevil but idk anything about comics)

Ooh I've never read Daredevil - or anything Marvel, really - but I want to start since lots of people I know love the show haha

I mostly collect DC comics (usually the Batfam with a few exceptions) and, in my opinion, some good ones to start are:

Batman: The Court of Owls by Scott Snyder (My personal top reco for new batman readers! Quite dark. Gritty. Doesn't waste time with origin stories which can be a bit contrived and samey imo.)

Batman: Hush by Jeph Loeb (I personally am a bit tired of stories about Batman's early years, so I liked this since B is already more established in Gotham. Warning: Jason Todd's appearance and characterisation suckssss asssss in this one so beware!)

The Sandman by Neil Gaiman (I started reading this a couple years ago and it was my intro to DC comics! The new Netflix show covers the first two volumes. This is an all-time fav of mine so definitely highly highly recommend.)

I'm no expert but those are some that I've enjoyed!

(also while I'm thinking about it, here are my top tips)

Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman are the most famous DC heroes but there's a whole catalogue of others - you might want to read one of the team-up comics (Titans, Teen Titans, Justice League, etc) to see if you find a new fav.

The comics industry is over a hundred years old. You'll come across stories and interpretations you don't agree with, both in canon and fanon. It is what it is; don't let other people take away your own personal enjoyment.

There is no 'perfect beginner comic' and even arcs written as jumping-on points for newbies (like Court of Owls) still have to appeal to old readers. You might get confused at times but push through! If you have no clue who certain characters are, there's lots of resources online that can help explain backstories and relationships.
