Hurricane Beryl Carriacou & Petite Martinique Relief | GoGetFunding
Hurricane Beryl has devastated the tiny islands of Carriacou and Petite Martinique (sister islands of Grenada, who also got hit but with less impact) on 1st July 2024. In a few hours the islands have been torn to shreds by winds of over 100mph. Urgent help is needed to support residents to rebuild their homes, businesses and livelihoods. Please donate what you can.
Funds will be donated to a Grenada/ Carriacou based charity for the benefit of the sister isles primarily.

When we arrived at the head of the lagoon, we crossed a narrow islet, and found a great surf breaking on the windward coast.

The seas in the main development region of the Atlantic have already reached temperatures not normally seen until August or September. This has led to the rapid intensification of Hurricane Beryl, which crashed through the Windward Islands on Monday and is now traversing the Caribbean Sea toward Jamaica. Beryl is, to put it mildly, a freak storm.
From tropical depression to Cat 4 hurricane in 48 hours, then to Cat 5 hurricane (sustained 165+ mph winds) in 24 hours. Holy forking shirt this thing is gonna kill some people.

Hurricane Beryl, as seen from the International Space Station, entered the Caribbean as a Category 4 storm on Monday. It has caused significant damage to the Windward Islands — including Grenada and St. Vincent and the Grenadines — and is currently threatening Jamaica on its path across the Caribbean Sea. Beryl briefly reached Category 5 status with sustained winds of 165 mph on Monday evening, making it the earliest Category 5 hurricane on record.

Tura, tura ai toa e, I te pou o te hoa o te rai e, E huea i tara o te rai e !
Wolffe for @clonefandomevents' Haunted Clone Week: Free Day - Folklore, Mysteries and Regional Gothic of Polynesia
ID + variant under the cut
I went with the story of the warrior Hiro, Tanu-Tāne and the thousand white birds for Wolffe, because there are many similarities between he and Hiro imo! Wolffe has seen many of his brothers die without being able to do anything, and the gift the Gods bestow upon him is to survive and carry their memories with him. Even if the Gods help him in darkness, he's still a man who has to survive during daylight :)
It's a story from the Windward Islands, not from Aotearoa, so it's not Māori but Maohi!
[ID: Fanart of Commander Wolffe from the Star Wars franchise. He is in his twenties: he's glaring at something unseen. He looks angry. He already has his prosthetic eye. His right hand is lifted up, his palm open: the silhouette of a red bird representing Tanu-Tāne, Tāne's messenger bird, seems ready to land on his palm. The silhouettes of five white birds flew in front of Wolffe's chest; there are a hundred of white birds flying behind him. /END ID]

Ancient Hawaiian fishponds are a unique and advanced form of aquaculture found nowhere else in the world.
