As per usual, NaNo is NaNoing…
Two days in and:
Another member of the cast is no longer human…
My distant siblings have teamed up because they are close now…
And I will have to write at least one shanty lyric (might as well write the whole song to make some use of that education)

Update from NaNo hell day 3:
Had to ask my nurse friend about gunshot wounds because my google dive just said “call 911 immediately” Like, no shit! But they’re pirates and phones aren’t a thing…
She did not disappoint :’D
My pirates also now have an abandoned island they take shelter on… don’t know why, but they do…
So yeah! My meet cute ended with one of them being shot right in front of the other…
#nanowrimo 2023#wip:wrapped in ocean#I am living my absolute best NaNo life#but also way too tired to function correctly

Little Red Writing Hoods Writing Challenge 08/10-2023 - TEAM VAMPIRE POV
This was a challenge from @littleredwritinghoodsclub's sunday meeting.
Prompt:
You are a vampire out finding your next prey, but when you bite your victim it turns out they're a werewolf.
Time brainstorming: 10 minutes Time writing in the meeting: 20 minutes (finished after meeting)
Did I decide to take my grumpy vampire boi from Wrapped in Ocean and put him in the modern world? Well, now he has to survive the novel, right?
Victor had worked hard to convince someone to let him inside the big mansion. At least, that’s what he was going to tell anyone, if they ever asked. Not that anyone would ask.
In truth, he had just flapped his wings outside the window and a small boy had let him in, attempting to feed him flies and spiders. Thank Dracula that he could hide in the mist, seemingly disappear into thin air.
The boy wasn’t his target. The young girl living above him were. Victor had seen her outside and instantly been captivated by her. Not in the way he was with his wife, but a girl this beautiful must have good blood in her veins.
A day after being let inside, he was back. This time flowing into the girl’s room.
Putting her to sleep was as easy as any other girl. But as soon as he tasted the first drop of her blood, he backed away. This couldn’t be?!
“What are you doing in my room?” The girl didn’t scream at him, but she didn’t whisper either. “Are you?” Her blue eyes grew even bigger. “A vampire? Does this mean I’ll also become a vampire?” Her voice didn’t show any sign of fear. Instead, she sounded… excited?
“Ehem.” Victor straightened his jacket. “Yes, I am a vampire, but you are not becoming one.”
“Why not?” The girl’s lower lip pointed out, similar to how his sister’s used to when she didn’t get her will through.
“Why not? Because werewolfs don’t turn vampires. For all I know, your blood might poison me!” He knew this wasn’t true, his sister had survived just fine that one time she drank werewolf blood. But the girl’s excitement pissed him off. Being an undead blood sucker isn’t that great. Sure, it meant Freja wouldn’t be alone any more. But apart from that… He had already spent a few hundreds years on a damn pirate ship.
Great! Now he really just wanted to see Freja.
“Where are you going?” The girl tried to grab him but he managed to turn into mist and leave the room before she did.

Tens but Tag
*Cracking Knuckles* @eccaiia asked for Wrapped in Ocean characters so Wrapped characters it is :'D
Rules: List your OCs as “tens but” to give us a not at all comprehensive scope of their characters
And in halloween spirit (and also because I think these are the ones you most want to hear about)
Rosaline: She's a ten but she doesn't understand the concept of danger. What do you mean things can get dangerous? She hasn't died in her 200 years so why would something be able to kill her now? Victor: He's a ten but he will talk down to you. Unless you're older than him, or Freja, you are lower than him and he will make sure that you know it. Freja: She's a ten but she will stomp around a lot, even when on a small boat. She will also cry a lot and adopt any stray animal that's cute enough. Will: He's a ten but he has no sense of directions. Not a single bit. You will get lost if you let him guide you. Even onboard his own ship.
Tagging, with no pressure: @fleurtygurl @andromedaexists @ember-writer @crypticcodexcreations @gokustormofficial22 and an open tag!

Little Red Writing Hoods Writing Challenge 24/9-2023
Task: Prompt was from this post by @write-it-motherfuckers
Person A: “I’m not that creepy…. am I?” Person B: “Oh you’re extremely creepy, but in a fun way.”
Time brainstorming: 10 minutes Time writing: 30 minutes
This was a good way for me to explore an Idea I've had for a while and I've also started my prep for NaNo so pirates it was. :'D
“Here’s your food, princess.” The pirate threw a few biscuits into Irma’s cell. “I hope it’s good enough for you.”
She rolled her eyes. The pirate, the others called him Will, had been guarding her cell since they brought her onto the ship. “Why wouldn’t it be?”
“I know it’s not the fancy food you get back home.” His dark eyes found their way to the ground. “It’s not personal, you know. We won’t hurt you.”
“It’s not personal to me. I believe it’s pretty personal towards my father, isn’t it?” She couldn’t help but smile. Her father, General Jones of the British navy, had been after the pirate Captain Crow for years.
“I’m sorry.” The pirate still didn’t look at her.
“No worries. Will, right?” She tried her best to seem nice to him. She didn’t blame the pirates. Not Captain Crow or the rest of her crew. Her father was a prick. She knew that better than anyone.
“Yes, Ma’am.” He looked up at her. His eyes were dark as night and his curly hair wrapped his face. “Willem van der Decken.”
“Willem.” She gave him another smile. It was a nice name. And it suited him well. “No need to be so careful around me. I don’t blame you.” She laughed. “And please, call me Irma. Princess sound awful.”
“Irma.” Her name rolled careful off his tongue.
“So what is it you’re trying to achieve with keeping me here?”
“General Jones took something dear to us, so we’re returning the favour.” The tall figure of the captain stood stood in the door frame. “Sorry for the inconvenience.” Captain Crow lived up to her name. Her hair was as black as the feathers of the crow on her shoulder. And her eyes as murderous.
“Were not creepy for it… are we?” Willem sounded like a puppy compared to the captain.
“Oh, you’re extremely creepy. And wrong. But it’s kind of exiting.” Irma let out a laugh.
“Wrong you say.” Crow stepped closer to the cell. “How so?”
It took everything she had in her not to crawl into a ball on the floor. Her father might be scary, but this woman made everything in Irma scream in fear.
“Yes. He doesn’t care that you took me. I’m a disappointment to him anyway.”
Also @eccaiia We're getting somewhere with Wrapped In Ocean :'D

First Line Tag
I was tagged by my dear friend @eccaiia for this. Thank you! <3
KMB have been getting a bit much of my attention lately but lets prepare for NaNo with some Wrapped in Ocean.
Dear [something] It’s been a while since my last letter. These past months have been hard. My uncle left again. So it’s only me, my parents and my siblings again.

Can I get an update on your 2023 nano project? I want all the details 👀
Well.... I have read through the first draft... And made a few comments for myself. But that's it... 😅
Life got in the way and the first draft is MESSY but I'm looking forward to get back into it. It also starts with a letter and somehow that is really hard for me to write so it's a bit of a hurdle. But I really love the characters and thing they have potential to grow even more. And I think you'll love at least two of them.❤ (Does reading old Swedish Fairy tales count as research for trolls? Because then I've done that too)
As a little bonus, the cover for Keep Me Breathing is almost done so between work I have been occupied with that lately. 👀

Updates from NaNo hell: Day 21
I’m socially exhausted after having my family over to celebrate my birthday
I wrote some really fun things today
I got a new duvet that’s a lot bigger and a pretty book (I don’t know if I’ll like it but I took a picture of it once in the book store because it had a pretty cover😅)
And as a treat I’ll give you a moodboard for this NaNo project under the cut

hello and how are you?
Trick or Treat? 🦇
🪷 🪄 Natsume Rune, @365runesoftheamalgamations
Hello Nats!<3
I'm tired as hell, but otherwise I'm good. How are you?
I can't say "Trick" when you throw a bat at me like that!
So for a treat. I introduce to you the two Vampire twins of Wrapped in Ocean. (My NaNo project)
Victor and Rosaline They're both part of the crew for The Flying Dutchman. Rosaline being the first mate and Victor being the most miserable crew member.
In classic Dracula fashion, they can turn into animals, but instead of wolfes, they turn into cats. And that's how they got adopted onto the ship as cats, before anyone knew they were vampires.
Rosaline loves being a pirate. Especially with all the weird creatures that occupy their ship. (Their captain is a ghost and the one that adopted them is a troll.)
Victor, however, does not. He hates being a pirate and only sticks around to keep an eye on his sister. (This is an excuse because when their troll has nightmares he will be the first to turn into a cat and comfort them.)

WIP Intro: Wrapped in Ocean
New WIP incoming! I've had this idea for a while and even if the infernal cave is my top priority, I've finally gotten some sort of start to this project. The only other person I've told about this is @eccaiia so I thought I'd let it out into the wild as well.
TITLE: Wrapped in Ocean GENRE: Fantasy/Romance SETTING: 18th century Europe(-ish?) TROPES: Pen pals, Forbidden love, Monsters, Pirates STORY: What if the Kraken was once a beautiful young lady? What if she fell in love with a pirate? What if Captain Jones fell in love with the bottled letters that was sent out into the ocean?
THE CHARACTERS:
Cordelia Delmore: (Introduction) | 18 | Female | Kraken | A girl drawn to the ocean but forbidden to even go near it.
Diana 'Davy' Jones: (Character introduction coming) | 24 | Female | Pirate Captain | Captain of the Locker. Leader of a ruthless pirate crew.
Levi Delmore: (Character introduction coming) | 46 | Male | Leviathan | Commander of the Navy ship "Sailing Serpent" and Cordelia's uncle.
PLOT AND KETTLE: Cordelia's father forbids her(and her siblings) to ever go near the ocean. Still, Cordelia is drawn to it like a moth to a flame. She often sends out bottled letters to the void of the ocean and to her surprise, her bottles return with small trinkets inside and the letters "C.J.".
After spending a night with the feared, and surprisingly female, Captain Jones. They figure out that she sent those trinkets over the years. Jones vows to take Cordelia away, someday, before she flees from the law enforcement. As times pass and the bottles no longer return, Cordelia makes a deal with an oceanaid and trades her life for the power to find Jones.
STUFF THAT IS NIFTY: The Flying Dutchman is a ghost ship. Unseen by most and captained by Diana's great grandfather, Willem van der Decken.
STATUS CHECK: NaNoWriMo project 2023
(I absolutely stole this format from @sleepyowlwrites)

OC Name Meaning Tag
Thank you @catchingbigfish for tagging me! (And I feel you on the tag game situation. I'm soooo behind with mine as well)
I'm tagging: @eccaiia @spuddlespud @blind-the-winds @talesofsorrowandofruin & an open tag.
rules: list OCs and explain the meaning of their names
I usually choose my name by having an idea of what kind of feeling I want from their manes and sometimes I use a random generator to get ideas, or baby name sites. Sometimes I just know the name before I know the character.
The Infernal Cave:
KEEP ME BREATHING:
Fubuki: A Japanese name meanind "Blizzard". I wanted the big 4 families to have a theme in their names and since Astaro is very much based on Japan, and their last names is connected to seasons Fubuki felt like the most fitting name for the daughter in the Snow Family.
Sakura: Like with the Snow family having snow related names, the Petal family have names based on flowers. And what better name for a princess-like character, than Sakura.
Gideon: Gideon was the first character to be named and I did so before deciding on the themes of the big families. Gideon was for the longest time the name I would name my son if I ever got one. (100% based on the fact that John Kramer's unnamed son in SAW was going to be given that name).
Alexandr: Like the Astaro families, I wanted Lucif's big family to have a theme as well, and since Lucif was loosely inspired by Germany, Edelstein was an easy choice. So he had to have a name related to gems.
Casey: Casey just sounded cool. And like a very "not my real name" name.
Gikel: Because of his double name situation I felt like Gikel, a name related to Jekyll, was a good fit.
THE STRONG, THE SRAY & A PUNK
Kaleb: I randomly generated this name because he was supposed to be a small side character in the first book...
Rio: My picture of Rio is basically a typical action videogame character and Walker feels like THE last name. And Rio just goes well with Walker.
Owen: I don't like the name Owen, for some reason it feels icky... And that's exactly what this character is.
Isaac: I wanted a name that could be modified to give him the label "Zack" but I didn't want Zack to be his real name.
Wrapped In Ocean:
Cordelia: This was the hardest to come up with for this story. She is basically Kraken so I wanted a name that both fit her kind and caring character, but also would be easily connected to Kraken.
Diana: Diana is based on Davy Jones so I needed a female name that would work with that.
Levi: I just wanted a name that I could mentally connect to Leviathan and that also could work for a caring uncle.

Heads Up Seven Up!
I was tagged by both my dear friends @eccaiia & @andromedaexists! Thank you so much, both of you!<3 Since I haven't done much other than editing on my main work, here's the first(and only) lines of my 'new' project Wrapped in Ocean.
Tagging: @druidx @revenancy(hello new friend!) @cljordan-imperium & an OPEN TAG!
Jones put the letter away into the drawer. It’s been a few months since the last one arrived. It happened sometimes. One of their previous letters had mentioned that they weren’t allowed to go near the ocean. The only time they did seemed to be when their uncle was present. And, apparently, he worked at a boat. Jones didn’t know what kind of boat. But judging by the way they wrote about him, he was probably some kind of merchant or fisherman.

Character Introduction - Cordelia Delmore
Age: 18 Gender: Female
Cordelia is the youngest daughter in the Delmore family. Her father and brother owns a merchant business, while her uncle is a captain in the Navy.
She's been told that she looks exactly like her mother, who died giving birth to her.
All her life, Cordelia have loved the ocean. Something about it draws her in and she never feels more alive than when she sneaks out and feels the ocean breeze in her face and the water on her skin. Too bad that she, along with her siblings, have been forbidden to go near it. Her father never explained why.
He uncle is the only one she can talk to about it and he often takes her to the beach, or even lets her board his ship sometimes. (When in port. He wouldn't take her with him)
When she does visit the beach, she often sends letters in bottles. She never expected anyone to find them but it seems like every time she goes, there's a response for her coming in with the waves. She don't know who
Her sister expects her to settle down soon, like she did, but Cordelia never took interest in that sort of thing. That is until she meet's the charming Pirate Captain Jones.
