I think Witch from Mercury's smartest narrative choice is a. putting the obligatory "but we're both GIRLS" moment in, like, episode two, and b. being super passive aggressive about it.

Oh, cool, now it's Miorine's turn to be traumatised! ...again.
G-Witch continuing to be crazy good, love this show.

witch from mercury spoilers
okay so on the one hand I get that it probably wouldn't make much sense narratively for eri to have survived that
on the other hand I can't help seeing this
and thinking "oh her head and torso are basically completely intact. she's fine. Just needs some repairs and maybe a jumpstart or something and she'll be all good."
because transformers has conditioned me to assume that any mechanical lifeform whose anatomy is similar in construction/pattern to gundam/transformers/etc (basically, any mech/mecha whose components are relatively easy to replace so long as you can get them and who don't have particularly organic-esque circulatory/organ systems) can survive more or less any physical injury that doesn't destroy their brain equivalent (which is generally located in the head. because. yeah anyway) or their spark/power core/control system
and we do know that aerial can be modified and have parts replaced and whatnot since that's already happened before. So.
I suppose it's possible that the laser's heat just. fried/melted her internal systems, but the fact that her v fins aren't melted to slag despite being severed by guel's darilbalde — which we know had its power/damage/whatever reduced to be safe for duelling — makes me think those systems are (mostly) fine
also I guess if you want to draw a parallel between the lauda-guel fight and the suletta-eri fight, guel ended up being completely fine so I guess something could be argued about parallels meaning eri's also fine. Though there's also the possibility that they'd use guel surviving and eri dying to do some contrast between the two (that's worded terribly ignore me)
realistically though I'm assuming eri's dead because impact and weight and drama and so on and all that

Something something about a slowed version of the op song "The Blessing",
the song in Aerial's POV about how she wants Suletta to be free,
playing at the scene where Prospera seems to manipulate Suletta into being a remorseless killer

You know, all in all, it's been a great year for sapphics in animation.
And it's not done! Season 5 of The Dragon Prince comes out this summer, likely featuring more of Amaya's and Janai's relationship.
Harley Quinn should be coming back sometime this Summer/Fall for more adventures of Harlivy!
Coming in October is I'm In Love With the Villainess, which follows the adventures of Rae Taylor, a normal woman who is isekaied into her favorite otome game and is determined to woo the game's main antagonist, aristocrat Claire François.
And there may be more! These are just the ones I know about currently. So yeah, a pretty great year for sapphic animation.

Given how inconsistent the show has historically been about the characters' relative scales, I have to imagine that the hand-holding shot involved someone looming over the animators' shoulder like it's very important that you clearly emphasise how much larger Suletta's hands are than Miorine's; this is essential for reasons.
