Thinking about my wmmap AU’s a bit lately (specifically TBtPL). If you need a refresh, it’s basically ClauDialope poly + Athy and Jen Ruby Palace sisters AU

So Penelope dies after giving birth, that’s a given, and Diana, Claude, and the other concubines co-raise Jen for a near year before Diana ultimately dies after childbirth as well.

And Claude is absolutely broken. He had lost Penelope, his first love and best friend, and now his last love. And this time, no one could hold the pieces of himself together.

No Ruby Palace massacre, because how could he? How could he destroy the Ruby Palace and the concubines, when it’d be like truly erasing Penelope and Diana—the place filled with women they both loved. So instead he drowns himself in his duties and work, drowns in the alcohol, countless nights spent thinking of anything but the two women he loved—because although the alcohol and lack of sleep hurts, the reminder of them being gone burns. Still unsure if I want him to use black magic on himself in this AU or just have him wet and depressed

And so a very young Jennette spends her very first birthday with her many mothers. Except without the mother that birthed her, without the flaxen haired mother who mainly raised her for that year, and without her father from whom the sun itself kisses upon his crown.

But at least, she’s received the best present in the form of her month old sister who’s the spitting image of the father and mother she had lost the night she was born.

Reminder that Claude neglected Diana when she was pregnant because she chose the child over him and then let her die miserably, alone and in pain. We aren't talking enough about how bad Claude's treatment of his lover was when she went against his will and told him she wanted to keep the baby.

He ignored her for months unless he wanted to grab her to yell at her, pressure her into changing her mind, accuse her of playing with his heart, and when she was about to pass away, he couldn't even bother to move his ass from his throne and bid her goodbye.

He was the best magician in the kingdom up to date and didn't even try to help Diana through her complicated pregnancy. Even if it was known the delivery would have killed her for certain, he could have at least attempted things to alleviate her pain or made the process of the birth easier. Seeing how useless the court magicians were during Athy's mana-sickness and couldn't even numb her pain or put her to sleep, Diana must have been giving birth to her baby in agony in horrible conditions. Were even specialists present? I saw no bodies of magicians, doctors or even nurses lying among the corpses of the murdered concubines and servants of the Ruby Palace, yet I find it highly unlikely that Claude would have spared their lives. After all they had failed at their job in his eyes. If Claude had summoned once in a lifetime geniuses from all corners of the world to his palace and then killed them after Diana's death, then this must have caused a public outrage which should have affected Obelia's international relations with their neighbouring countries negatively.

I wouldn't have taken Claude as the kind of person who would deny his lover medical attention out of personal slight, I would have assumed he would have searched the entire continent for a specialist who could deliver the baby safely, yet Claude not even sending her a single magician, because he viewed Diana as a lost cause and felt offended by her choice, could fall in line with his character. Secretly he may have wanted her to suffer as punishment for her "betrayal" of him. The thought that he could make her departure from this world more comfortable may not even have crossed his mind because she was already "dead" to him.

In the novel, Athy's debut dress is described as white with long sleeves and the skirts made it look like a rose (? I think she was also wearing rubies but I don't remember very well anymore

Don't you have reference photos of what the dress was like? The translation I read is very strange lol

Athy's debutante dress is described to be pretty different in the novel! It was a pure white dress, that seemed to bloom like a flower at the bottom. It also had embedded jewelry and a tulle ribbon tied around the waist, and it had sleeves, it wasn’t sleeveless like the manhwa's. So the translation you read looks accurate. Here is @lithi 's complete translation of how the dress looked like!

I don't have any reference pictures of that dress specifically, sorry. And as far as I know, there's no novel-accurate fanart of the debutante. We'll have to use our imagination.

The thing about debutante balls that... no manhwa seems to get right is that, they weren't just fancy balls to introduce noble girls to high society. They were that in part, yes, but most importantly, they had the purpose of serve as the occasion for young girls of marriageable age (for the time period) to find a husband.

So the balls had a pretty strict dress-code. All debutantes had to wear white (though shades of ivory and pink were acceptable), the dresses were strictly floor-length and with a long train, though the sleeves were short. Long white gloves were also very common. The hair had to be done in an up-do with a veil attached to it, decorated with three ostrich feathers. As for jewelry, pearls were the more common option.

Some details could change depending on the time period, but those were the basics. So no colorful gowns, loose hair, short dresses or stuff like that.

Totally different vibes, even though that debutante dress is pretty modern. But it looks... like a wedding dress.

I was surprised to see that the novel's debutante was actually pretty historically accurate. My guess is that Spoon felt the novel's dress was too bridal, so she changed it to the iconic dress we all know (I've seen people say it feels too "homecoming", teenager ball, but debutantes were kind of just that lol). The part about the dress resembling a blooming rose was kept, but Spoon added the pink details, flowers and patterns, shortened the length and made the dress sleeveless (and gave Athy a tiara! Apparently only married women could wore those at debutantes in real life).

I quite like it. I think the choice was also to better reflect Athy's fashion sense and make her stand out compared to the other debutantes. Athy's dresses are always lovely and elegant, but she uses way more colors, patterns, short sleeves and hems compared to the rest of the girls. I think it suits her free spirit!

And yeah, it would have been kind of weird to see all the girls dressed as brides in the debutante lmfao...

The Ruby Palace Massacre

Former concubines of Ruby Palace and mothers to Athy's half-siblings

Made a whole makeshift background that explains how the concubines are alive but never give names or backgrounds for the concubines who had Athy's siblings. So that's what this post is about:

First, we have Forsythia Blythe, mother to Ianthe.

Forsythia is the second daughter to Marquess Blythe back in Atlanta. But after catching Claude's attention while visiting Obelia, she was forced to become Claude's concubine.

One of the concubines who weren't jealous of Diana and became an acquaintance of hers

She likes gardening and studying flower language.

Ianthe is her only child.

Forsythia constantly worried about her family back in Atlanta and it only increased after Ianthe was born.

Second, Rasia Richter, mother of Astraea.

Rasia is the daughter of a count and has two older brothers.

Before her elder brother became the new count, her father sent Rasia to Claude in hopes she gains Claude's favor.

Rasia is very close with her brothers.

Rasia's eyes are supposed to be turquoise.

She had an interest Siodonna culture through Diana.

She was in love with Diana and they became a couple during their pregnancies together. She's pan.

Third, Embelia Irving, mother to Argiro

Embelia was one of Anastacius's concubines before Claude took the throne.

She has a huge interest in writing and wishes to have one of her books published in Obelia.

Embelia is a distant cousin of Roger though they rarely talked until Roger found out she was Claude's former concubine and had one of his daughters.

Fourth, Marigold Eden, mother to Pavlos

Marigold is the daughter of a merchant and has a younger brother and sister.

Marigold is a widow and had a son from her previous marriage.

She enjoys music and likes to play instruments for her sons.

Claude deemed her boring due to her nonchalant personality.

Claude isn't her type.

Fifth, Senna, mother to Shann

Senna is originally from Siodonna and was a part of Diana's troop.

Senna has an older brother and two younger sisters.

She does private dance lessons for anyone who wants to learn.

Senna use to travel with her uncle before joining Diana's troop.

Sixth, Cliantha Elmore, mother to Kolya

Cliantha is from the Elmore family in Obelia.

Before Claude met Diana, Cliantha was one of his favorites.

She was a big sister figure to any newcomers who join the harem.

Actually loved Claude before he chose Diana as his lover.

Taught Kolya everything he knows to protect him.

And Last, Azalea Kallas, mother to Ruslan

Azalea is the eldest daughter of the Kallas family.

She once dreamed of being a teacher.

She's the antisocial type and keeps to herself.

She worries a lot about her son, Ruslan.

Azalea was glad Ruslan resembles her more Claude.

When they were little, Azalea used to read stories to her son and his siblings.

What if Claude didn't kill the concubines, thus meaning that the concubines and their children would live! What if Claude had to take in an Empress? What if, what if, what if. Introducing '𝑽𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝑬𝒔𝒕 𝑽𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒆' [To Conquer Is To Live] an au solely based on the fight for the throne, the battles of familial angst with fluff, romance and sprinkles, lots and lots of sprinkles of bashing!

I intended to make this au about Claude's childhood and if he had more than one half-sibling, but this can be in another au in an au!

They say the emperor has one face. One of pure evil and coldness of the soul. While this is a hundred and a half percent a perfect statement, there are times when this is not the case.

You see they are wrong at most. Sure, Anastacius has one face to most except one person.

Now here is the most interesting part, some would assume if this was the case it could, would and should be his wife who he shows to faces with, right? Wrong. For the person he shows his most emotion to is you.

Perhaps it was your beauty? That was the assumption you had made since day one. Though it was a wrong assumption, Anastacius has no interest in changing it. Letting you think that perhaps at most this is the case. But there is more behind his obsession with you than just your looks. It is the mere fact that you would do anything for him that comes close. That comes next to the point of your beauty. You'd do anything for him as his most loyal retainer, his sweet little assistant and he'd kill for you. Just as you would for him.

If you weren't someone of such high status such as his assistant, he'd make you his concubine. He really would but you both had jobs to do. Jobs that were too much of a risk to mess up.

You had stayed by his side until his supposed end. During this time, when he was about to be killed, he asked you to run off and catch a few of his rebellious foes. A case in which you were victorious over as he expects. But just as you come back you find a scene you'll never forget. A death crime against the emperor.

At first you believed the news. He's dead. But the thing was…no one knew where the body was and who took it if it ever was taken at all.

It doesn't take long before the day his wake opens, you head in the middle of the night to see, to hear. But the only thing your eyes met was the eyes of a man so happy to see you once more.

During the days of his hiding, you visit from time to time. Bringing gifts and some of his old treasury alongside your wonderful attitude towards his bidding. It was a great sight for him and for you.

Though you didn't have any form of attraction to him, it doesn't take a while before you do eventually. You two marry after a while, a marriage hidden from the public's eye. But a marriage needed two witnesses. The only save for this one rule was Roger Alpheus and his wife's presence at your wedding. They questioned nothing. No words were said but cheers and flattery. It was easy to see that the duchess did not quite enjoy the sight of the marriage, but they had little choice as to follow the former emperor's will.

It is now another day and you were called to the Alpheus house as they have informed you of Anastacius’ presence there as their guest. Surely the plan to take back the kingdom that was his was in action now, wasn't it?

You enter and the first thing you see is a beautiful replica of a daughter. ‘Oh… this is…’ The face and features were terribly unmistakable. She looked like Penelope and Anastacius combined. It made you feel a pang of jealousy but also pity for the girl. To be born by dark magic was not a good thing. You spoke kindly to her asking her for the directions to the duke's office. She obliges with much delight as to see a lady in the house. She's lonely. It was clear as day to you. A ghost of a smile appears on your lips and you two find your way to the duke. You pat her head in gratitude before you head over in, waving to her before you do so.

"I see you've met Jenette." Roger spoke to you, his tone is as icy as could be. As expected from him. He was very cautious towards you, though it was unclear why. Perhaps because you were someone who could kill him within minutes of his words just being displayed? Either way it didn't matter. Fear was fear.

Anastacius is propped on the couch, one leg across his knee. His lips were curled up partly in an almost smile towards you that stayed there the moment you lay afoot in this room.

You bow respectfully towards his presence before the words come rolling out of your mouth. "Why have I been summoned here?" Though it was the least formal of gestures, your husband did not mind. You two have parted for too long.

He stands up and his footfalls are heard, making their way towards the female known as his adoring wife. His eyes are filled with warmth as he lifts your chin with ease. "Why so serious, my treasure?" His words are soft and sweet to the ears, the complete opposite of what the duke hears every day, you assume with much delight. "Humor me with a smile, dearest." He whispered again before his lips met hers. His lips are soft and his taste sweet like his tone. His hand moved down to hug her waist and pull her close. The other goes to the back of her neck to pull her firmly towards him and keep her to him until he has his fill.

When he pulls away, he is met with your flushing face. It is enough to make him laugh and stroke your hair. "Well then, shall we begin the planning?" He says, turning to the duke who bobs his head in assent.

During the attempts of the plan, you became close with Jenette. To the point that she, Jenette, saw you as her mother and family that she never had. She was still blissfully unaware of Anastacius being her father and it was not a problem for Ana that you were becoming her mother figure. After all, the sooner the better no?

When Anastacius finally came forward and told Jenette who he was to her, it became easier to see you both as her parents. Everything was perfect. The plan was going well… not.

When the plan was proven unsuccessful, Anastacius was sentenced to death now. You had completely lost it when it occurred. It burned you truly. All you wanted was a life with him and Jenette, was that too much to ask?

You even went as far as praying to the deities for their forgiveness. And your prayers were heard. You found that Jenette had begged the emperor's daughter for sparing her father and instead bringing both of them far from the kingdom. Of course, this includes you too. You were quick to agree to the new arrangement.

It was hard at first, leaving the only empire you knew as home but it was better than your husband disappearing.

"Darling?" Anastacius snaps you out of your reverie. His fingers caressed your cheek now.

"Yes?" You say quietly, giving into his loving touch and warmth.

"I asked if you were alright." He said calmly, but there was a small noticeable note of worry in his tone.

"Oh, yes of course." You smile warmly at him. His heartbeat picks up at sight of you. He was deeply and truly in love with you and it showed well. "Are you?"

"Mhm." He hums, pressing his face against your chest. Your skin is warm against his own body. "I'm just thinking…what about another kid?"

"Huh?!" You flush bright red at the thought and this brings a laugh bubbling in Anastacius.

He smirks before he kisses you, implying the action that there was no return to this conversation. It was official that you two were making kids.

"Jenette needs siblings, you know." "I hate you." "I love you too~."

Hi it's me again the anon who dreams a lot about Percy and Poseidon lmao, I saw them in my dreams again today but it wasn't a funny one and I got sad. In the dream it kind of transitioned from your author's note (which you mentioned that there's angst in the latest chapter lmaoo) to the dream itself: Percy heard from some atlantean citizens that Poseidon actually had a concubine before, unclear if he loved her but most likely yeah 🥹😭 and they were supposed to have a baby but for some reason my dreams established that godly babies can either take only a few days to grow in their mother or yeaarrsss. And for some reason you can't force it to come out so after literal years pregnant the concubine kind of chose to terminate it, didn't show what happened after but I think it implied that she got killed by some enemies. Sometime after all that Poseidon was really mad and scaring everyone and whatever. And so they were saying that Percy wasn't even supposed to be his first child so they think it's not a surprise that Poseidon doesn't really like or care about Percy. And Percy got really sad🥹 At this point I think I was aware I was dreaming so I forced myself to wake up to end it.

Also the concubine's name is Calla!!! I was weirded out when I woke up because it's not really a name you can find in my country so I googled it and apparently it's of Greek origin meaning 'Beauty' and I knew nothing about that! Greek and beauty? Gosh the coincidence it's so close  it hurts lmaoo

It's like a reverse wmmap where Percy is Jennette, Calla is Diana and Athy wasn't born. I think my brain is mixing up wmmap and arsenic blues and it's not fun!!! I do get vivid dreams so sometimes when it's close to reality I have to go through my memories to make sure it didn't happen. So I actually got really sad when I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep again 😂😂 I'm so dramatic lmaoo AND I had to check if you updated and if it was your latest update and THANK GOD IT WASN'T!! I've never been so happy that you didn't update 😂 if I saw the notification I might actually have gotten a heart attack. Hi sooo here's the second fic idea I've had and it's Anastacius x reader. If you're okay with this pairing, I'm glad because I can't see this OC with anyone but Ana✨.

2)So it's an angst, smut fic idea with a happy ending. OC is an illegitimate daughter who was kicked out of the family so she won't be part of the inheritance. The only thing her half sister could do was get her an apprenticeship under an imperial doctor. Both loved each other and OC sister fought for OC who was shy, introverted and down to earth. Due to some accident, OC and Ana meet and their relationship goes from "wow they are strange" to "a friend found in a difficult place" to "They are charming". They secretly meet and just hang out?? But they each other's first friend. No one knows these two even knew each other, except Claude when he accidentally saw them from a distance. Both were close to each other and things get steamy 💓. (pls🙏) Ana cares for her but knows they can't be together so he plans to make her a concubine and OC knows they won't have a future and tries to leave for both their happiness. Ghost dude tries to get in their way once he realises Ana and OC are becoming aware of him. Eventually ghost sleeps with Penelope and OC is heartbroken. But both try to reconcile but Claude kills him. OC tries to save him and he eventually escapes but OC is imprisoned for helping a tyrant. She is eventually exiled and her sister is made to enter the Harem. She pleads with Claude to take her instead but he just forces her out. Outcasted and exiled from the capital, she becomes a small town doctor near the sea side. She hears about the massacre and falls into despair. Throughout the years, she picks herself up and builds a small hospital in honour of her sister. Ana has been secretly looking over her and helping her from the shadows. She meets Jennette when she visits the town on vacation. Jeanette reminds OC when she was young and lonely and so they both become pen pals. Only after news of the former emperor who lived and executed, OC doesn't know how to feel but tries to be there for Jeanette. After Ana and Jeanette live at the same place as OC, Ana tries to mend the bond between OC and him, but it's a steamy slow burn. Oc doesn't forgive Claude in this fic either 😂. In the end, all three of them become a family.

Too cliche?? Too much. If it is, I hope I at least entertained you with this story. Let me know what you think.❣️

Explanation about my story:

THE OTHER PRINCESS is an AU, alternative universe. Athanasia doesn't act like that in lovely princess and wmmap. And again, it's an AU where Athanasia was sent back to the first life, where the story of Lovely Princess occurs. But, instead of Jeanette, Reina is the main princess in that story. She's an original character of mine. She got all Claude's appearance. Her mother is not Diana, her mother is a duchess that's one of Claude's concubines but apparently died the same way Diana did. When i finish 'The Other Princess', I'll post another story called 'Black Swan' as this one is Reina's point of view.

heyyy Not sure if any of you have said this before but I just found out that Athy's palace when she was born, the one where Diana died and it was the palace of the concubines is very similar to Moritzburg castle and I think Athy's Emerald palace looks like the winter palace but I'm not too sure.

Moritzburg Castle and WMMAP's Ruby Palace

I can definitely see the resemblance between the Ruby Palace and Moritzburg Castle! The colors are almost the same (red roofs, yellow walls with white accents). They also have very similar round towers.

Winter Palace and WMMAP's Imperial (?) Palace. Could be the Garnet Palace.

As for the Winter Palace, I think it looks more similar to the Imperial (?) Palace than the Emerald Palace, even if the colors are closer to the later's. The roofs are very similar, as well as the vaguely Greco-Roman columns. Both palaces are very long, and have what seems to be two floors (it's hard to tell when we don't have a good picture of the Imperial Palace), and multiple rows of windows.

While we are talking about this, it seems like a good chance to talk about all the palaces, because... there are a lot. There are five (or six?) palaces in Obelia:

Imperial Palace. The novel says that "all the palaces in the Imperial Palace were Claude's", so perhaps this is just the sum of all palaces. But the one shown above and below looks different from the minimalist Garnet Palace, so I think it's a different building.

Imperial palace?

Garnet Palace. Where Claude lives and meets Athy for the first time. Athy notes that "it's a palace more humble than Ruby Palace" and is surprised that the emperor is using it (that's why I think it's different from where the debutante and the meetings with the nobles take place). According to the novel, Claude's birthday ball takes place here, but the manhwa uses the same ballroom as the debutante.

All these are shown as being Claude's residence/the Garnet Palace.

Emerald Palace. Where obelian princesses live. Athy's residence gifted to her by Claude.

Emerald Palace.

Bonus: Athy's private library that Claude ordered to be build for her.

Ruby Palace. The palace for the emperor's concubines. Where Diana lived and Athy was born. A garden connects it to the Garnet Palace.

Topaz Palace. "A place without any use located in the northwestern area". A forbidden place, though Chief Grandpa says "the area was considered forbidden only to the earlier generations of emperors". This is where Athy finds the book that transports her to the LP dimension.

Sapphire Palace. Where important guests and ambassadors stay. This is where Athy sits on top of an angel statue and Cabel mistakes her for a fairy.

In the manhwa we only see the Ruby Palace, the Garnet Palace, the Emerald Palace, and maybe the Imperial Palace? Again, unclear if it's a different palace altogether, though it is mentioned in the novel.

I feel like Diana ought to have more presence in WMMAP. For someone who Claude loved (no comments on whether she loved Claude because that's a whole nother ballpark), Lily was mesmerized by, and was/is Athy's mother she's achingly... absent. For the record I love characters that haunt the narrative. They may be long dead but their actions or their deaths themselves impact characters in the present in a meaningful way. Diana should've haunted the narrative more, in my opinion. And Athy should've been impacted so much more by her, even if just through Lily (no idea why Lily was singing praises about Claude when it was ultimately Diana who she was so awed by). So yeah this has turned into rambling I'm so sorry

No, exactly! Ghost-Halucination Diana was nice, but she was so important to so many people and… god, the scene where Athy meets Diana’s spirit feels almost… lackluster? Because we’ve seen Athy’s journey. She knows Diana is her mom, but she has never really thought of Diana her whole life except for the once in a while, “Oh dad is depressed because of what happened to mom” before moving on with her life. Diana could have been a GREAT way for her and Claude to bond even more (which would honestly make me like his character more). After he accepts Athy’s existence as his own, him talking and rambling about Diana with Felix pitching in and bubbly talking about her to his annoyance would have been so nice? It would have helped Claude move on so much too, talking to their daughter about what they both lost but also realizing that it isn’t the end. Lily and Claude could have also interacted! Silently acknowledging how mesmerizing Diana was while reminiscing.

In general, we should have also known about other aspects of the past that deeply affected everyone. Penelope for gods sakes, how is it that we’ve only had like three appearances of her?! She was such a detrimental character for both Claude, Felix, and Ana. I also want to know about Roger’s wife!!! What happened to her? Did she just die at some point after Ijekiel went to Arlanta? Is she actually just alive within the manor while her husband was being possessed by a dead vengeful spirit??? Give me the Alpheus Milfffff. Show who taught Ijekiel and Jennette their gentleness and kindness!

And the Ruby Palace Comcubines! Why were they done so dirty, that was like at least fifteen women just killed?!?! For no reason?!?! And nobody cares?!?! And I won’t even begin with the trauma Lily should have! She witnessed the massacre, she should have been terrified of Claude and so so sooo protective mama mode of Athy whenever in Claude’s presence! (I can’t even begin with the trauma Athy should have had retained from her second life too. Why is trauma only relevant when the plot needs it? So far, trauma wise, Jen has been the only consistent character because Claude seems to only be depressed on and off with anger issues in between, Lucas SHOULD have fears of abandonment similar to Jen seeing as his father figure essentially offed himself in front of him, and back to Lily for praising Claude to infant Athy but never talking once about the love of her life Diana??? Blasphemy, blasphemy I say!).

I love WMMAP, I really do, but god. Give events and characters weight. Don’t just say they were important, show they were important even if they’re long dead! Imagine. Imagine how much more emotional Athy and Diana’s meeting would have been if Athy saw how her guardians bonded and lovingly talked about the goofy, affectionate, sometimes scary mother she never met was. We were so robbed of all of these characters.

His relationship with his daughter, Irene and the guilt he has: Karavan Dionne Parjunel

One of the things I appreciate about the adventures of a demon king's daughter is how it handled the 'I tried to kill my newborn child because my wife/lover passed after giving birth' plot point. As well for Karavan himself.

Kar reminds me of Claude from wmmap but only the small bits like losing their wife/lover after they given birth to their only child. However what strayed them apart is how they handle the aftermath. So I'll be comparing them again.

When she passed

In wmmap when Diana passed, Claude proceeded to murder his concubines and attempted to murder Athanasia only to stop after hearing her name. He didn't stop because he recognized her as his child but on a whim. Meanwhile when Saeinere passed, Karavan threw one of the women who helped deliver Irene and tried save Saeinere onto the ground. He attempted to murder Irene before stopping himself when he realized the one he tried to kill was his own child with the one he loves. Even after he calmed down, Saeinere's spirit told him to love Irene for the both of them.

Raising their daughter

Here's comes one of the biggest differences between the two men: how they handled raising their daughter. In wmmap for the first FIVE YEARS of Athanasia's life, Claude neglected her, put a spell on himself to forget Diana and by extension Athanasia too. When they do meet, you can't say it's a good one and doesn't try to attempt to be her parent. Which we know is his fault. Even if she does have maids to take care of her, the father daughter is more one-sided as Athanasia is the one who does any attempt of forming a familial relationship which isn't fair by all means. Then we have Karavan and Irene, whose relationship is actually genuine compared to Claude and Athanasia. After Irene was born, Karavan learned how to hold a baby properly for her sake and how to raise a child over the years with the help of his wife's family, and Irene's godparents. When he isn't doing his duties, he spending time with Irene. When you look at their relationship, you can tell they truly care for each other.

Bringing back a past event

Now like I mentioned before both men have tried to murder their own daughters in the past but what I noticed is that unlike Claude, we are shown that Karavan does in fact regret and is remorseful for what he tried to do Irene out of grief but acknowledges that's not excuse. Even doubting his ability to a good father to Irene.

When Irene remembers this event, she is rightfully hurt. She's hurt by what Karavan tried to but she's not really sure how to feel. On one hand she feels resentful and on the other she feels sorry for him questioning if he needs her in his life. When asked if she regrets being his daughter, she cries as she actually has a genuine bond with him that isn't one-sided. When they meet again and she asks if he regrets having her as his daughter, he replies in tears "How could ever I regret such a thing?" And that he loves her.

This event literally happened in season 1 while Irene was eight. But we had to wait until the final season wmmap for Claude to finally apologize to Athanasia for his actions. Athanasia had to wait until she was FIFTEEN for her dad to apologize for what how he treated her. And Claude's apologize scene didn't feel genuine because their relationship never feel genuine to begin with.
