#wol oc lore dump
I guess I should start putting things out there about my wol and actually talk about them since it's been a bit difficult to draw things.
So this is my Warrior of Light OC, Lux Lumiux. He's a Raen Au'ra man standing at an astounding 4 feet tall. Not only is he short by auri men standards, but even his own mother is some few inches taller than he is. He's got dark skin and light colored hair that I've made blonde, but I've considered recently to possibly recolor it to a light teal type color. Regardless, though by the end of shb for plot reasons, his hair goes completely white, and his horns and scales are also irreversibly altered.
Although Lux's most noticeable trait is his lack of height, he's also selectively mute. He almost never speaks not even if someone's really close with him, and at best the most, you'll hear from him is laughter or a guttural growl. Although he's a white mage and considering how usually there's an incantation used for spellcasting to work in ffxiv, I've taken to altering it that he doesn't so much utter incantations but hum them as though they were a song. Well, at least that's when he's healing, the few offensive spells, while some he can similar hum they're more of a hiss or cry than anything, resembling a melody. While he may not talk verbally, he does on occasion use sign language if he actually has a message to get across but that's not often as Lux is a rather passive person and doesn't really ever have much to say anyhow. Yet at the same time, he's also rather expressive, so it's relatively easy to read how he's feeling based on his expression and body language alone sometimes that and he can always easily answer a yes or no question with a simple nod or shake of his head.
Small side note: he's also got impeccably neat handwriting that's really easy to read.
Lux is originally from Othard, and some years before ARR was brought to Aldenard by his father, but due to several bad things that seemingly happened all at once he was cast out into the seas and by the grace of hydealyn surfaced off the shores of Gridania bordering Ul'dah. He wound up taking residence in Gridania until eventually enlisting in the adventurers guild after a few confusing dreams that seemed to take place in the endless liminal blue of the aetherial sea. Little did he know what all those dreams would lead to.
Dreams are also an odd quirk of Lux's that came with his connection to hydealyn. While sleeping, he can connect to others' dreams and subsequently invite them into his. For a while, though, he mainly only ever saw the memories or dreams/nightmares of others, but as time went on, he unintentionally began pulling others into his nightmares. Although this ability is fairly limited as often, it's hard to remember dreams and nightmares once you've woken up and because of the lack of worldly logic it's hard to really know who's dreams he's witnessing, especially since he's bound to the logic of one's dreams too so anything bad or good that happens in the dream he cannot change or alter. Similarly so the same holds true to those that get pulled into his dreams.

A short little hair study (and lore drop!) of Kel from lunch break.
He normally keeps his hair pulled back in a messy bun so to keep it out of his eyes, but when alone or relaxing he'll let it down. It's actually quite floofy and he looks like a cloudmallow in humidity.
Sometimes if he uses too much of his Void Corruption he's noticed that when his body returns to normal his hair has gotten far longer as well, reaching down to his shoulder blades. He doesn't really know why (the current theory from the Inquisitors is that since the transformation uses a large burst of aetheric energy, it sends his body into overdrive so that he can heal faster but also causes nails and hair to grow absurdly fast, hence the claws he files away after the fact) but he'll pull it back into his trademark bun to hide it until he can find time alone to pull out a blade and shear it off again.
In the not so near future, when everyone he knows is gone and his name is long forgotten to Time, he's given up on cutting his hair and instead wears it long. It's bad to tangle and get caught in things so some of the people in the town he protects banded together to make him a small red hair tie which he has worn dutifully ever since. They don't know if "The Void Walker" truly enjoys it or not but the hair tie has always remained in pristine condition and fiercely guarded.

Reintroducing…
Kore Gharl AKA: Persie! 🥀
So, for those that have been around forever, like 3-4 years ago, you might remember her! Though Yume was my first WoL OC, my second was a Xaela woman Kore, but I lovingly called her Persie. She was originally of the Mol tribe, and she had pink hair and pink eyes. But since @meepsthemiqo asked about her lore the other day, I got brainworms and decided to recreate her and change up her looks and her lore a bit. So, here we go!
First, I changed her tribe to the Gharl tribe, as I thought it was fitting for her symbolism of being connected with the earth. Here’s the wiki entry for the Gharl, with a screenshot of the Gharl tribe from the cutscene of the Naadam:
Tumblr media
Before each migration, the Gharl will fill a sacred urn with the soil of the place they just camped. This soil is then dumped upon arriving at the next location. This tradition has been carried out for thousands of years, leading people to believe that most the steppe is now all of one soil.
When the Tsagaan Sar ends, the Steppe holds a Naadam to decide who will be the new Khagan. The location of the dispute is revealed only at sunrise when the Gharl has scattered the soil.
Anyways, the next thing I decided to change was her looks, which I ultimately didn’t change much, outside of her hair and eyes. This is because she originally had pink hair almost identical in shade to Hali, but since I love Hali too damn much, and she is my only OC that I want to have pink hair, Persie had to get a makeover. I do think the brown hair and grassy green eyes are very earthy and suit her well.
Oh, and in case you’re noticing her name and nickname, yes, her Unsundered self is Persephone, and I had shipped her with Emet. I know I know, not the most original idea ever, but I tried to be a bit unique with her backstory.
Here’s a bit of her backstory, though I’m now reworking it so this is just a very short snippet: Kore was born to Arik and Zaya of the Gharl Tribe, and was their only child. Her mother died in childbirth and was raised solely by her father until he tragically passed away during a battle with a neighboring tribe, trying to protect her and the other children of the tribe. Due to the tragic loss of both of her parents at such a young age, she wanted to become a healer, and to save as many lives as she could. Kore is not a Warrior of Light like Hali is, but she does join the Scions in the course of the events of Stormblood. Her canon job is a hybrid job that I’m calling Shaman, and it’s a mixture of White Mage and Geomancer, with perhaps some other magic thrown in. I haven’t thought that through yet.
Oh and though we may all be hyped for Fanfest right now, feel free to send me asks about her if you’d like! She is also a new alt in game, which you can find her as Persephone Kore on Seraph (Dynamis, NA)! Thank you all so much for your interest in her! I might work on her more if I get more inspiration to.

I think Naru is behind enough now that she won't really be catching up in her poll in the @woltourney so I wanna use my last little 'propaganda post' to just say thank you so much to everyone who voted for her and and this was just really fun all around.

Look at her precious little shocked Pikachu face. ♡(◕‿◕๑)
I finally finished my first HW relic grind, and the plot for this really tugged hard on a key thread of Aeryn's backstory. I need to muse about it... So it's oc lore dump time! \o/
Spoilers for the HW relic weapon story, but that's it!
A quick tl;dr of Aeryn's story, pertinent to black mage:
Aeryn's soul is fused with the remnant magic of the star from her past life. It functions a bit like a shell, "protecting" her, but also blocking her access to the magic of the Source. This prevents her from doing most types of magic without significant effort.
In canon, Aeryn just lives like this, unable to do magic except in extreme circumstances. But in black mage AU, she works with the thaumaturges to disentangle her soul and the "foreign" magic (they none of them realize what it is), enabling her to both access and better utilize magic on the Source.
The disentangled star magic does not disperse. It lingers, greatly enhancing her newfound magical abilities, but also overwhelming her natural senses - especially her sight. Despite this, she takes to magic use with inexplicable ease and turns almost exclusively to magical combat.
Aeryn later channels most of the lingering star magic away during the finale of the StB class quest. The yellow in her hair fades as a result, and she is able to see without magical obstruction once again.
I thought that would be the end of it - that Aeryn-as-Black-Mage would no longer have her connection to her past life or her star following Stormblood. But rolling through the HW relic quests and awakening a new being connected to the WoL through their aether/soul/weapon got me thinking:
What if, in Aeryn's case, the soul she helps give voice and form to is what little remains of her star? (✧_✧)
The connection the anima feels towards the WoL and its desperation to get stronger so it can help/impress/protect them is very reminiscent of the headcanon I have about Aeryn's past connection with her home star and how it "saved" her in its/their last moments. Other than the timeline itself (and the suggestion that other warriors with similar experiences might likewise be able to connect with anima), nothing in the relic quest lore really breaks that theory.
And I'm casually obsessed.
Probably going to shirk the timeline and work this into Aeryn's black mage story, some time following Stormblood. Perhaps she needs a new weapon at that time. (The Stormblood class quest could feasibly have destroyed her existing weapon. Yeah, going with that.) I just love the circular notion of this: Aeryn's star dying in such a way that she was able to be "reborn," but then in turn being "reborn" itself in the form of an anima so that the two can learn, grow, and travel on together.
;-; Yes, this makes my heart is happy. I shall accept this headcanon. It shall be mine.

fuck it. have an enormous oc lore dump. this is the "canon" wol oc i conceived as part of my personal preferred approach in some games to take the game's text as presented, not headcanon away any elements, and, as much as possible, adhere to whatever "definitive" canon as best as can be discerned from what's given as an option. as a comedy bit, I also wanted to make a Warrior of Light who does everything you can do in canon, like an omnijob level 90 did all the raids did all the beast tribes caught every fish did all the relics did every hildi questline kind of WoL. Someone who really does mostly communicate through nods and punch gestures and only says the specific lines you can say in game (except for the scenes, increasingly common in later expacs, where they let you imagine a conversation). I just think it's funny to take an approach to the game that is at once fairly restrained (no elements beyond what is already presented in the lore) and extremely maximalist (yes, he one hundred percent did steal those pants). spoilers through stormblood under the break.
Wolund Anadezhda (not his real name) was born in Bozja in the year 1533 of the Sixth Astral Era to a young gunbreaker in Bozja's army and her husband, a foundling adept of the Verdant Path and fellow soldier. Resolving that their son would not grow up in the shadow of war, the Hrothgar couple resolved to have him sent out of the country shortly after his birth. He grew up instead under the care of his father's adoptive sister, a master of the Verdant Path in her own right, who left Bozja some years prior under uncertain circumstances after a serious injury left her unable to return to the front lines.
The sister (a Sea Wolf Roegadyn) had through various adventures found herself running a Dalmascan caravanserai, a walled inn a day's travel west of the city of Rabanastre. There, she raised Wolund both to run an inn and in the forms of the Verdant Path. Though not a warm woman, she did her best to raise Wolund carefully and lovingly, and honoring her brother and sister-in-law's wishes, tried to shelter him from the horrors of the world. He, in return, idolized her. He received sporadic letters from his parents, at least until Bozja fell. Their ultimate fates are unknown, though Wolund believes that even if they didn't die during the course of the war, they likely died as part of the resistance or in the Bozja Incident.
In the year 1547, 6th AE, Dalmasca is invaded by the IVth Legion. The caravanserai is close enough to the border for the Garlean line to advance past it fairly quickly, and Wolund chooses to remain with his aunt in order to protect her from the occupation as best he could. As Wolund has grown, his aunt has told him stories of the devastation war had wreaked in Bozja, and of the losses she still grieved. She explained to him that students of the Verdant Path such as herself had been targeted by the IVth Legion to be brought in dead or alive in a bid to control their knowledge and break Bozja's ability to resist, and that she had fled the country at her brother's behest to preserve the school's knowledge for future generations. Chafing under Imperial rule, Wolund aspired, at the time, to learn as best he could from her, follow in her footsteps, and do his part to maintain the lineage of the Verdant Path school.
In my conception, the Verdant Path, as a multidisciplinary school that teaches (at least) spear, greatsword, katana, and unarmed combat as part of its tradition, encompasses more of a martial philosophy, conceptual approach to space, and footwork system than a specific set of techniques for various weapons. This is a key element of why Wolund, in order to adhere as closely to the maximum extent of the available canon as possible, can pick up like 19 different martial disciplines, sweet Mary Sue that he is.
As he aged into his late teens and early twenties, Wolund was settling into his role as his aunt's chef, handyman, disciple, and likely future replacement innkeeper, as her war injury made physical labor increasingly difficult. Also around this time, Wolund has a brief engagement with a Keeper of the Moon Mi'qote merchant, part of a tribe of several Keeper families who operated a caravan which plied a route between Rabanastre and Martrvje in Bozja. At her behest, largely as a practical matter on her end though not without some romance, they had a child together, with the intent that, as in most Keeper families, she would raise the child herself, though he would, by grace of the caravan's route, have periodic contact with them both.
Before the child's birth, however, an imperial recruiter looking to fill a quota came through town. And so in the year 1556, 6th AE, at the age of 23, Wolund was conscripted and assigned to the VIth Legion, then a corrupt and disorderly force occupying the relatively peaceful southern coast of Ilsabard. A far cry from Emperor Solus's disciplined armies, the VIth Legion then was scarcely indistinguishable from a private mercenary group answering to local colonial governments.
Wolund struggled after his initial conscription, seething at the prospect of two decades under the Garlean Empire's yoke, fell into despair, and tried to emotionally withdraw. Since he was a quiet, disciplined conscript as well as a young and fairly imposing Hrothgar, his Garlean officers read in him the ready Garleanization that they wished to see. His practiced prowess in the training hall further contrasted his "bestial" appearance in the eyes of the bigoted Garlean officers. In Wolund, they saw a useful tool and status symbol for their occupation.
Consequently, while Wolund's time resembled the expected conscript experience in many respects, it was also marked by unexpected success in the unusual, corrupt environment of the VIth Legion. He spent plenty of time in his first couple of years on hard, undesirable labor, as any conscript would: digging ditches, building infrastructure, policing occupied populations, and, in the singular case of open conflict breaking out, serving on the front lines. However, he stood out from his peers, and he found himself frequently serving as a sort of exotic trophy or bodyguard for increasingly senior officers or local bigwigs. Eventually, he found himself attached to the staff of the legion's 10th Cohort as vexillarius, or standard-bearer, for the cohort's pilus prior. This turned out to be, given his centurion's corruption and close links to the local colonial government, merely a slightly more elevated form of his old work serving as muscle and an imposing presence behind preening dignitaries.
At this point, about six years into his two decades, Wolund's conscription seemed on a steady path to eventual citizenship. For his part, he remained as emotionally disengaged as he could manage, materially secure in his position in the 10th Cohort. The insulated world he built came crashing down in his sixteenth year of service, when crown prince Varis yae Galvus sent his close friend and confidant Regula van Hydrus to reform the corrupt VIth Legion. Many senior officers, including Wolund's centurion, were executed by firing squad for their abuses and indiscretions, with still more clapped in irons and hauled before military tribunals. Efforts to reform the legion's reputedly undisciplined soldiers saw Wolund, like many other conscripts, detached from the VIth in the hopes that reassignment to a more disciplined legion could salvage the conscripts that, in Regula's eyes, the VIth had nearly wrecked. Wolund found himself assigned to the VIIth Legion in 1572, on the eve of Carteneau.
In year 4 of the Seventh Umbral Era, Wolund completed his term of conscription. Engraved and sealed legionary diploma in hand, he made his way to Garlemald itself, where his paperwork was verified and his name added to the citizen's registry. He returned to the caravanserai outside Rabanastre as Wolund pyr Anadezhda. There, he found his aunt, now some 20 years older, and her unexpected apprentice as innkeeper: his own daughter, now a 20-year-old woman and soon to be running the place herself.
Of Carteneau itself, there is little to say, and what few coherent memories Wolund may have had were taken by Louisoix's magic, along with Eorzea's Warriors of Light. Wolund crawled out of the catastrophe and butchery of the Seventh Umbral Calamity to find himself one of the VIIth's few survivors. Reassigned to the Vth, he served out the rest of his term quietly, though nightmares of Carteneau continued to plague him. While serving in the Vth Legion, he served as a quartermaster and honed his skill in both literacy and sums.
For about four months, Wolund tenuously reinserted himself into the daily life of the inn while attempting to form a connection to his daughter and reconnect to his aunt and his daughter's mother. His efforts to begin his life again were cut short when soldiers came sniffing around the caravanserai on the order of a local magistrate, a former officer of the VIth Legion who sought to employ him as a trainer to his household guard. Recognizing that he would not be able to live a life free of the Garlean Empire's boot so long as he remained within their lands, and not wishing to endanger his daughter or aunt by enlisting them in his decision, Wolund simply skipped town one night. He left behind all his possessions except for enough money to see him safely overseas, as well as a letter that stated tersely that he did not wish to be followed. From the caravanserai he made his way by horse to Rabanastre and then to Valnain, where he caught a ride on a merchant ship bound for Hingashi, and from thence to Limsa Lominsa, where he arrived in year 5 of the Seventh Umbral Era.
Upon arriving in Eorzea, Wolund, leaning on his most recent skills in math and reading, as well as his admittedly rusty knowledge of trade goods from his time at the caravanserai, applies to work at the Arcanist's Guild. Everything proceeds as it does in the game from there.
All this is in service of a couple things. First of all, honestly, giving him a big backstory where various bad things happen to him over the course of a long time is primarily in service of dealing with what I think is one of the shakiest scenes in the game: the moment where Fordola accidentally uses the Echo on you and is shocked to her core by the scale of the tragedy you've overcome. I just don't think this makes a lot of sense for the WoL based just on what's depicted in-game, as sad as the events of the Banquet and Haurchefant's and Ysayle's deaths and Minfilia's sacrifice are. Giving him a comparable backstory to Fordola as a legion conscript does a lot, in my book, to smooth out that scene and make its emotional weight land better in my head, as do elements like the death and destruction he witnessed at Carteneau and the stuff about his daughter.
Secondly, in addition to that scene, this is just supposed to help set up a lot of stuff about the WoL I find a little clunky, particularly earlier on. Why does everyone in the Scions immediately glom on to you and decide you're their hero? Well, maybe the WoL is a stoic and outwardly emotionally reassuring older man who's conveniently older than the oldest of the Scions by more than a decade, and he can fill the Louisoix-shaped hole in their hearts that each of them except maybe Y'shtola very obviously has. How are you simultaneously everyone's favorite guy and also a story non-entity? Maybe he's nice and kind to people but very bad at handling and leading them initially (as evidenced by letting Alphinaud sleepwalk you all into a trap at the Banquet), in part because he spent the better part of two decades playing the part of mute imposing muscle for aristocratic officers. And maybe the fact he's consciously silenced himself for 20 years plays into the fact that the Warrior of Light becomes chattier throughout the expansions. Maybe he knows how to wear Garlean conscript armor and operate magitek because he was once a conscript himself. And so on and so forth.
Third, playing by my dumb "canon" rules, the WoL has to come from outside Eorzea. You're arriving by ship or cart and you're clearly unfamiliar with the city-states by the text. However, you also can't come from a lot of known places, since then you're bumping up against the issue that those places will also treat you like a stranger when you arrive in-game. There's no Bozja dialogue for being Hrothgar, but 1) to them it's not weird they'd have no reason to mention it and 2) this is why he isn't culturally Bozjan. Linking the WoL to Dalmasca solves this issue because the only Dalmascans you meet would have no reason to know a random Imperial conscript, you have no real time with them to shoot the shit about culture, we will not go to a functioning Rabanastre ever, and there is no reason you would have wanted to share all this with anyone on board the Prima Vista. Fourth, the WoL is a person of many talents and skills. Chalking up his weapon skills to the Verdant Path and his conscription, and linking his DoH/DoL skills to his upbringing, goes a long way towards helping ground some of that (as much as delightful nonsense can be grounded). Fifth, I think it's really funny to make the Warrior of Light a deadbeat dad. Final Fantasy is so full of bad sad dads already, WoL should get to be one. Lastly, I'm jealous that 1.0 players got to be at Carteneau and I want to bite their style but I refuse to break canon to do so, which means conscript it has to be (since being from a Free or Grand Company would contravene the earlier point about having to be new to Eorzea).
(A note on timelines: ARR begins in the year 5 of the Seventh Umbral Era, which would have been Year 1577 of the Sixth Astral Era. Per the wiki, Bozja is noted to have been invaded some fifty years ago, suggesting a war that begins in 1527 or so, but its conquest is described as happening "over thirty" years ago and multiple places note the campaign as grueling, so I think part of the idea (which gels with the trenches we see in the southern front) is supposed to be that the Bozjan campaign was a brutal and grinding one for the IVth Legion, or that after seizing Bozja proper it still took a long time to stamp out all resistance. Dalmasca was invaded 30 years ago in 1547, also by the IVth Legion, presumably fairly soon after stabilizing their grip on Bozja. I don't think there's any time given for when Regula goes to the VIth and reforms it, but since they only clear their tainted reputation in the succession war following Solus's death, I figure he can't have been there that long and he makes a convenient reason to move Wolund around, so five years approximately concurrent with the 1.0 to 2.0 timeskip seems like a decent timeline for his reform.)

yeah, it's great to be back :3c i'm currently slow burning ARR and clearing out the side quests w alt classes-- the exp bonus for dynamis (i'm on seraph) is no joke at least at lower levels :')
no worries abt spoilers for now but i'll let you kno if i need anything tagged in the future <3
yes omg gpose was not a thing when i last played, once i learn gpose its all over!! >:) i've taken a few screenies of my wol, y'dhara sol ^-^ she's secretly a reimagining of my skyrim khajiit daro'sol and i sort of adapted a general backstory from there for funsies. my idea is that y'dhara is half sun, half moon (yes... eyes full of hetero) even tho it's impossible to really represent that through character creation and might not have much basis in the lore as far as i know. my running idea is that her father would've been a seeker that fell in love with a keeper in secret and to avoid a scandal y'dhara was raised by and adopted the conventions of her fathers tribe with no knowledge of her moon side or who her mother was as to not start conflict since it seems sun/moon relationships aren't allowed... but the story potential! i think sun and moon miqos should kis. i ultimately want to main astrologian if i end up liking it :') to complete the aesthetic ofc
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ty ark for listening to my oc dump!! ;-; i'd love to hear abt k'vira, i'm assuming by name they're a miqo too? c:
yeah just let me know and I'll make sure to make a tag for anything!
oh she's very pretty! and yeah gpose is a lovely addition that I'm so so glad for and I spin so much time in there rotating my wol like a rotisserie chicken
and that's the cool thing about ffxiv! you can create such a vast array of characters with mixed heritages. y'dhara has slit eyes in the screenshots, but because of her keeper bloodline does she also have fangs? (a lot of people still give their seekers fangs but I like separating the two unless the offspring has both parents) does she have any siblings since multiple children are common with seekers?
good luck with ast though I've only played a little bit of white mage (I wanted the unicorn mount tbh) so I have very little advice when it comes to healer classes but I hope it's fun for you!! also ast glams???? so pretty I love looking at them
and yes! k'vira is a seeker of the sun miqo'te. she killed another kit as a child during a training accident and left her clan when she turned fifteen to become an adventurer since the vast majority of the clan thought what she did was purposeful since she and the other kit knowingly disliked each other and she couldn't bear the weight of that forever following her. she took a life and now she's going to try and save as many as she can to make up for it (shhh ignore the amount of people she's killed as the wol)

NOVA MORENO FFXIV LORE DUMP.
contains spoilers from stormblood onwards, zohar don’t look or i’ll gut you like a fish
nova is not the warrior of light and i don’t even really have a wol au for her. if anything i’d just say that my other oc, omen, is the main wol of her canon.
she is part voidsent thanks to alejandro, a centuries old voidsent.
some lore on alejandro: he was a hero of his time, a paladin, who fell in battle against voidsent. honestly probably very similar to a certain character when it comes to his distribution of aether.
back to nova, she was nurtured by alejandro, who had a penchant for drinking the blood of his mortal victims rather than simply siphoning their aether. vampiric in every sense of the word.
nova lived in othard for a period of time and became a kunoichi. briefly knew lord kaien due to meeting him as a young man in the establishment she worked at. she later met yugiri & hien and joined the doman resistance.
had a crisis about being a voidsent & masquerading as a good person. when yugiri went to eorzea, nova would spy on yotsuyu & eventually got caught.
nova & yotsuyu gay.
nova was devastated by yotsuyu’s death but it solved her morality crisis and she began working with the warrior of light & co. at that point
she is a shard of artemis! and very much loves to hunt. i hc that she and zenos would have a very passionate, near intimate platonic relationship with how they view their prey. wlw x mlm solidarity u can’t convince me otherwise. EDIT: as I think on this I do think maybe I should make her ancient self be achilles just to add some ominous foreshadowing but who knows (:
she can use reaper - like abilities due to being partially voidsent. she isn’t a reaper because she has no avatar, but any enshroud abilities, she can do.
as of 6.2 she is enamoured with someone special as she feels the two of them are similar and wants to help her *feel*

I love to talk about my FFXIV OC's and I'm extremely fixated on my main one (Kiyo). I'll probably post a lot of things centered around her (screens, wol questions and such). THIS IS NOT AN RP BLOG and more of a lore dumping grounds for my characters
Also - don't be afraid to tag me in those quiz memes or anything! I actually love doing stuff like that! Though I'm extremely iffy about tagging other people to do them lol
I will try to tag spoilers, especially for newer content. But be warned, I may forget for older stuff
On the topic of NSFW things - please, PLEASE don't make judgmental or extremely gross comments (voicing they're attractive is fine. I'm talking extremely sexual comments) towards me and my characters. This is a topic I'm pretty sensitive about
This is also a WoLship friendly blog! Whether it's my own or others, I welcome and embrace ALL ships involving ADULT NPC's and WoL's. If you're against that or you're one of those people that's extremely possessive over NPC's, GO AWAY. You won't have a good time here. This is especially true for people who hate m/f pairings. Just leave me be in my own little corner and I'll leave you to yours
I'm not here for callouts and witchhunts like they do over on Twitter. If I'm following and interacting with someone who's LEGITIMATELY a bad person, please just DM me about it
Following/Followers =/= condoning awful behavior. I'm not going to go through every single person I interact with and follow with a fine tooth comb, and this whole "guilty by association" mindset is absolutely ridiculous, especially when people can be pretty damn good at hiding who they really are

Okay, that's one relationship chart/lore down. G'raha's and my WoL's relationship.
Maybe one day I'll make a comic about it. Do not use or repost

Hey guys, I have a question that’s been weighing on me lately more than ever... to those who have/had been using the same main since 2.0/beta or generally for a long time... but not before STORY TIME
Talia came to be in the early summer of 2013, which was during one of the last open betas prior to the launch in August. I was in high school and had never played an MMO before. I had seen someone posting about the beta in one of the fandoms I was in and decided to give it a try. The only other final fantasy I had touched was ffxiii. All the same, I was so completely hooked with the story and the lancer quests (ilu foulques).
I lurked a lot in the initial fandom days, eventually found an interest in screenshots and editing, which evolved into a much more profound (albeit still amateur-level) love for photoshop, which I never would have had otherwise if I hadn’t touched the game. Not to mention the countless of friendships and relationships I’ve built in this community over time. Even if a good portion has since come and gone, I feel like I’ve learned so much about myself in the process...
Anyway, the point is that Talia has been there since the beginning with me. She hasn’t physically changed much (she had lighter hair..darker eyes), but her story and the inspiration behind it has. Initially, she was just my token WoL, I was just enjoying the story through her. After that, i had taken a break from the game for a long while, come back, made an alt on Balmung (I was originally a turtle!!!) and eventually made friends there, and a few months later I transferred Talia!
I still hesitate in saying this, because it feels so dishonest? But not long before transferring Talia, she was still this nebulous character that I only had vague ideas of. She had an older sister, her family were merchants, she wielded a lance (mostly because I started as lancer). I loved dragoon, I love the lore, so I played with making her one, too, but nothing concrete. However, it wasn’t until I fell in with this friend group, where the one friend I was closest to was also an avid dragoon player and had their own dragoon OC. So what did I do?
The thing is, I was 17/18 at the time, going away to school,  where I felt incredibly vulnerable and alone. Having this awesome group of friends who pushed each other to make edits and art was thrilling. I was insecure (about my age, lack of RP experience, etc) and really wanted to not only impress everyone but have something in common. So when I grew close with the aforementioned friend and entertained the idea of bringing Talia over to Balmung, I decided to make her a dragoon, then, changed up her look to be more Gothiq (dark hair, paler skin) and said goodbye to my fc, and that was that.
My love for both dragoon and Ishgard only grew the more I delved into the lore and made up her lacking backstory, and it made for a ton of really fun memories, edits and discussions. However, after the friend group slowly started to crumble for multiple reasons, and going through Heavensward more or less on my lonesome (despite thinking I’d experience it surrounded by friends).
The thing is, now 4 years after the fact, a lot of my motivation to do anything with the Dragonsong war... I’ve never really RPed her, and I have even less motivation to do so now... I don’t know if it’s because of the lack of motivation for her character development, or the shaky ground that she was built on.... It’s really difficult for me to find her voice. I didn’t really take the time to find it when i made her a dragoon, I just kind of faked it until I made it.....LOL.
While I now have a clearer picture of her aesthetic... history, and her character, it feels so fixed in time, stuck in the war.. that taking her out of it just feels foreign. Her story feels more or less finished, at least in my head (god knows I was too insecure to speak about it here until much later when i lost interest in it)
So now that leaves me in a really weird spot... do I retcon Talia and start fresh with a new character, and start out organically now that I’m not trying to “fake it” more or less, or keep Talia, given that she’s as big a part of me and this blog as she has ever been?? I’ve also considered making Cass my main given that’s who I’m most inspired by lately... and there is so much more love for WoLs than a few years ago (or maybe I’m just less insecure & following the right people now). Anyway... THANK YOU for reading this giant word dump, i love you.... let me know if you have experienced something similar ldsfj.
