Rock climber Oriane Bertone was born in 2005 in Nice, France. In 2018, when she was twelve years old, Bertone became the youngest climber ever to master a V14 (8B+) boulder problem. In 2019, she became the Youth World Champion in bouldering and lead climbing. Bertone later left the youth circuit and won a silver medal at the 2021 Boulder World Cup. In 2023, she claimed her first Boulder World Cup gold medal. Later that year, Bertone qualified for the 2024 Olympics.

Rock climber Ashima Shiraishi was born in New York City in 2001. At 13 years old, Shiraishi became the youngest climber to send a sport route with a difficulty grade of 9a+ (5.15a). At the age of 14, she became the youngest climber, male or female, to climb a V15 boulder problem, among the most difficult ratings in bouldering. Shiraishi has also been successful in competition, winning gold medals in both lead climbing and bouldering at the Youth World Championships three years in a row.
