World of Warcraft 11.1.5: Feral Druid DPS Shines in Mythic+
youtube
World of Warcraft's 11.1.5 update has brought a noticeable shift in the DPS meta, and one spec is gaining serious traction in Mythic+ dungeons — the Feral Druid. Once an underdog, Feral is now climbing the ranks and establishing itself as a solid S Tier DPS pick. Thanks to a mix of consistent AoE output, solid utility, and scaling power, this melee spec is finding a new place in the spotlight. Whether you're returning to the game or planning to reroll, there's plenty to learn about why Feral is thriving right now.
What Changed in Patch 11.1.5 for Feral Druids?
In Patch 11.1.5, not much changed directly for Feral Druids, but the environment around them shifted in their favor. Previous top-tier specs like Enhancement Shaman received nerfs, and as more players gained high-level gear, Feral's strengths became more visible. On the Public Test Realm (PTR), Feral was already outperforming others in sustained damage, and those numbers are now showing up in live servers, especially in high Mythic+ keys.
The big news isn’t a rework or new mechanic — it’s that Feral Druid damage scales extremely well with gear. As players move toward item level 670+, the raw output from bleed effects and uncapped AoE starts to outpace more burst-oriented specs that relied on front-loaded abilities or cooldowns.
The Real Strength: Feral Druid’s Damage Profile
Feral’s damage isn't flashy, but it's reliable and ramping. Instead of spiking damage in short bursts, Feral Druids apply pressure over time through bleeds like Rip and Rake, with talents and procs like Apex Predator's Craving pushing their priority damage potential even higher.
Uncapped AoE makes a big difference in large trash pulls — a defining trait of many Season 2 dungeons.
Apex Predator procs give feral a burst window when needed, especially when cleaving on high-health mobs or nuking down key targets.
Bleed-based DPS means consistent output across fights, regardless of cooldown availability or RNG spikes.
This consistency becomes a huge asset in keys where execution matters more than variance.
Why Feral Druids Excel in High-Level Mythic+
In the current Mythic+ landscape, dungeons favor large pulls and tight timers. That plays directly into Feral Druid’s hands. Unlike many melee specs that struggle in AoE-heavy environments, Feral thrives when packs are large and the tank can group mobs efficiently. Their damage doesn't fall off when there are more targets — it actually ramps up.
In addition, the longer fights in high keys give Feral time to apply bleeds to multiple enemies and maintain uptime. Short fights can limit their full damage potential, but high-key dungeons rarely fall into that trap. Instead, fights go long enough to showcase Feral's full rotation strength.
Key Performance Highlights:
Strong in keys 17 and up, as seen in logs and runs from top players.
Outpaces specs like Balance Druid or Unholy DK in longer pulls due to stable damage.
Ideal for dungeons like Cinderbrew Meadery or Algeth’ar Academy, where uncapped AoE is fully utilized.
When Feral Isn’t the Best Choice
Feral isn’t invincible — in lower key runs or small-pull dungeons like Theater of Pain, they may not shine as brightly. Their damage relies on ramp time, and if mobs die too fast, bleeds never get their full value. Specs with burst AoE like Havoc Demon Hunter or Ret Paladin will outshine Feral in fast-paced or under-tuned content.
Also, Feral doesn’t bring high-impact group buffs like Bloodlust or major DPS cooldowns that affect the group. While they do offer strong personal output and decent utility, there are cases where a comp might prefer a spec with more group synergy or faster burst potential.
Summary:
Not ideal for short fights or trash that melts quickly.
Less impactful in 10–13 keys where pull sizes and fight durations are smaller.
Competes better in structured, high-end play than casual PUG runs.
Feral Druid Utility in Mythic+ Runs
Beyond pure damage, Feral brings a well-rounded toolkit of utility that fits well in today’s Mythic+ ecosystem. While not as utility-heavy as some ranged specs, they still offer several powerful tools:
Incapacitating Roar is great for interrupting multi-casts, especially in high-pressure pulls like Rookery or Spire.
Soothe, Remove Corruption, and Innervate remain strong cross-spec Druid utilities, adding dispel, decurse, and mana support for healers.
Typhoon or Ursol’s Vortex can provide crowd control when paired with dungeon mechanics that favor mob movement or kiting.
Since Feral is already in melee range, they can apply utility without needing risky repositioning, unlike Balance Druids or other ranged DPS.
Feral Druid Survivability vs. Other Specs
Another factor helping Feral Druid succeed in this patch is improved defensive capability. While Feral has often been viewed as a squishy spec, Patch 11.1.5 and the current talent meta make it much more durable than in past seasons.
Key defensive tools include:
Survival Instincts: A strong personal cooldown that greatly reduces incoming damage.
Improved Bear Form: Retains part of its armor and stamina bonus even after shifting out.
Frenzied Regeneration (via hybrid talent picks): Can be used in emergencies even in Cat Form.
While Feral won’t out-tank a Death Knight or Paladin, it's notably tankier than Shaman or Balance Druid, especially in melee-heavy environments.
How Apex Predator’s Craving Enhances Priority Damage
A major part of Feral Druid’s competitive edge in Mythic+ lies in the Apex Predator’s Craving talent. This ability gives Feral Druids a chance to trigger free and empowered Ferocious Bites from Rip damage ticks. In larger pulls, this chance increases significantly due to more enemies bleeding simultaneously.
This mechanic translates into:
High priority target damage during AoE pulls.
A stable and consistent damage profile compared to RNG-heavy specs like Unholy DK or Elemental Shaman.
Better control over when burst happens, since Ferals can plan around Apex procs.
For example, during fights with a key mob or mini-boss among trash packs (such as Hired Muscle in Priory), Ferals can nuke that enemy without sacrificing AoE pressure.
Physical vs. Magic Damage Meta in Season 3
Another contributing factor to Feral’s rise in 11.1.5 is the evolution of the damage-type meta. This season, teams are starting to build around either:
A magic-focused comp (with Demon Hunters, Balance Druids, Mages), or
A physical-focused comp (Monk + Warrior + physical DPS specs like Feral, Rogue, and Hunter).
Feral fits perfectly in the physical comp due to:
Synergy with Mystic Touch (Monk debuff that increases physical damage taken).
Boosted output when paired with Battle Shout (Warrior buff).
Natural alignment with melee cleave playstyles.
While the magic comp remains strong overall, physical setups are now only 1–2 keys behind in performance, giving Feral a real chance to shine in diverse group compositions.
Where Feral Fits in the Current DPS Rankings
If you look at the current WoW 11.1.5 DPS rankings on sites like Archon.gg or WarcraftLogs, you’ll see Feral Druid performing exceptionally well, especially in high key Mythic+ dungeons. While it’s not topping every chart, Feral consistently ranks in S Tier or high A Tier among melee specs.
What separates Feral from other specs is its balance across various damage types — solid AoE, strong cleave, and reliable single-target performance. The spec doesn’t rely on burst windows or group buffs as much as others, which makes it:
Easier to plug into diverse comp setups.
A stable choice in coordinated and PUG groups alike.
A sleeper pick that’s finally getting the attention it deserves.
Comparing Feral to Boomkin (Balance Druid)
No Feral discussion is complete without the classic comparison: Feral vs. Balance Druid. In previous metas, Balance was the easy choice for ranged damage, with Starfall and Celestial Alignment dominating AoE encounters. But the 11.1.5 patch created more room for spec diversity, and Feral is now holding its ground.
Key comparison points:
Mobility: Feral wins. Balance needs to reposition often and loses DPS doing so.
Priority damage: Feral pulls ahead, especially with Apex procs during big packs.
Utility: Both specs share Druid toolkit, but Feral applies it without leaving melee range.
Survivability: Feral now has better tankiness thanks to defensive talents and Bear Form enhancements.
While Balance still fits certain team comps better, Feral is no longer the second-tier choice — it’s a viable primary DPS depending on dungeon and group strategy.
Conclusion: Is Feral Druid Worth Playing in WoW 11.1.5?
Right now, Feral Druid is one of the strongest melee DPS options for players pushing Mythic+ in World of Warcraft Patch 11.1.5. With a combination of uncapped AoE, priority target burst, and consistent bleed-based output, Feral performs exceptionally well in high-level dungeons.
It’s not the most beginner-friendly spec and does require ramp time and proper pull planning, but for players who commit to learning the rotation and optimizing their build, the rewards are clear. Add to that solid defensive tools, baseline Druid utility, and synergy in physical-damage comps, and you have a spec that’s finally getting the recognition it deserves.
Whether you’re a longtime Feral main or just considering trying it for the first time, now is an excellent time to bring this spec into your Mythic+ rotation.

With every new level, World of Warcraft offers a completely new experience. The WoW players have a great deal of incentive to level up fast in the game. While enjoying the slow journey with learning every move and spell and exploring the world of the game, you can also directly jump to endgame content as fast as you can.
WoW fastest levelling unlocks the ability to ride levels and you need the strongest choices that get down to some factors such as -
Powerful AoE damage
Ability to self-heal
Specs with high mobility
As you are aware of the new expansion of World of Warcraft — The War Within, you can also fast level up to this expansion. For this, you need a huge total of 2,481,285 XP to get to the max level from level 70. Also, your levling methods ecan affect your speed.
The majority of your XP will come from completing the quests by playing different zones. From level 15, you will be able to use the group tool to sign up for specific or random dungeons, and killing the mob gives you a great deal of XP.
As the new expansion — The War Within is one of the most engaging expansions ever in WoW here’s how to level fast in WoW for the same.
Here are the points where you can find the solution for fast leveling.
Spamming dungeons is one of the quickest ways to level up in The War Within. The best approach is either to queue up for dungeons while working on other quests or to join a Looking for Group (LFG) that focuses on dungeon runs. If you’re in a group, you can generally expect to gain nearly a full level per dungeon, depending on your current level and experience.
There are 12 total chapters over four zones to complete the main campaign. This process can be time-consuming for each new character. What we suggest is that you should complete the campaign on your first-leveled character. This will allow you more freedom to level up your future characters.
World quests will be an excellent way to earn experience. Each zone will offer four to five quests on a 24-hour rotation, allowing you to gain substantial experience simply by logging in daily. While world events may take longer than usual, they reward you with plenty of experience in return.
In the War Within the chapter, Delves is a new feature that lets you embark on mini-scenarios alongside Brann Bronzebeard. Depending on the tier you select, each Delve can reward you with anywhere from 70,000 to 200,000 experience.
WoW, classic levels can be a slower journey in comparison to the modern World of Warcraft. While playing any level or dungeon, make sure you manage your health while raiding.
Being in the guild is important as it helps with social support and it makes long leveling sessions less tiresome. Classic WoW dungeon leveling guide will help you understand how in the best ways you can speed up your progress. Plan out your quest and run for the dungeons that will help you faster the level you want.
Check out these WoW 70 80 leveling guide points that can be helpful.
Maximize rested experience
Pick up & play every quest
Use dungeon finder
Questing is the best way to fastest leveling
Efficient leveling strategy is what you need to play in World of Warcraft. At WoW Boosters, we are the team of pro players of WoW helping you level fast and perfectly to get you the rewards and make you discover the new places and levels that you love to raid.

-Shadowsinger
Wild colors, hot and bright, burn below rock
Whil’ over strong gales and tree-tops sings he;
The darkest blue from night, star in the sky.
Why, wondered he, would he decide to strike
Moons before they had detailed, risking all?
-Prince of Autumn
Harsh, cruelly was he taken from his rest,
As shrewd fire cannot of ease be contained.
It sears, burns, eats at human flesh, but when
They try oppressors to bite, death rains them.
Through struggles he waits, knowing he’ll be saved.
Try as he might to deny it, he knew.
-Shadowsinger
A glinting light the only showing, seen
Past acers, past demesnes he soars, watch him.
Glimpse shadows shelter their sore master, wild
With fury trapped in mortal shell, escaped.
Alights, ire and cold, on the forest’s house.
Engulfed by the night, silent, quiet, go—!
No need to search, connecting string pulls him.
In dungeons he appears, fair light sole guide.
-Prince of Autumn
“Ere— guards hear you approaching?”
“No father, I can hear naught.”
The darkness shudders as a whip strafes down.
“Vile boy, dare you talk back to me? Disgrace!
Await I your return for days, but then
No news bring you? I should kill thee for this!
Your hours North wasted, it seems, for that bat.
Think you I know not of your bond with him?
So foolish, it seems good to rid of you.”
“Yes father, you always do what you will.”
The wrath of Ares shone from the king’s smile.
The other simply hung there, antics known.
His face still; turmoil hidden, left inside.
But fear was written there beneath his mask,
His mate known by the one fed lies, had now
This truth found, he must have left clues, his fault—
-Shadowsinger
It was fine. The day’s end would come to them
Together.
-Prince of Autumn
Heart violent, a match lights, flame sparked.
At once aware of his mute presence here,
Here to save him, but he must not do so.
The darkness’ death would end with his sole corpse.
A fitter end: him alone, broken, dead.
His burnished locks left alone on cold stone
That errant Shadow of his left unscathed.
For he was a monster on this world, and
Should be killed as such. Laugh at this pity!
Again, papa raised his hand to cuff him.
Each crack of the crop brings him closer, or
Perhaps it’s further. Then he stepped aside.
His bane smiled as he neared the last, sharp tool,
The wicked, glinting silver edge tightly gripped.
No method of evasion found or used
Nor hoped for or thought of. It would be done.
He wished for it to be quick— now, he thought,
If his shade would just let him go alone…
Yes, then he could repent for his soul’s sins.
It was not ending for him, but a start.
-Shadowsinger
“It’d be an ending for me, you vile prick!”
Words into empty woods, not replied to
With his mind in a quiet place, blocked off.
Had he planned this? Had he known how this would
Break him: if he was to pass? This was it;
Time to stop this fool’s play by saving him.
And then—
Just when—
It rises—
Held taut—
Now falls,
He can see his snake's eyes close at the end,
As flesh turns into shadow on the spot
Reforming in the blade's path to halt it.
Four dark red eyes enlarge to see him kick,
Jab, and lunge at the bigger, stumbling form.
Grab from its sheath the teller of truth, and
See him fall down as if taking a bow,
Because of the length lodged in his thick throat.
It was all just so perfect. At last; now.
Revenge would at last be enacted on
The monster in the room, to save his light.
But the king would not simply give his throne,
No, he would grab the Shadow’s arm, pull him
Down onto his hilt, only then cave in.
-Prince of Autumn
The Prince of Autumn opened his eyes to
Torn flesh and blood; remains of dear papa.
(He had been far-gone, almost in a sleep.)
But next to it, what ho! The shadows pooled
All around their Voice, wounded, on the floor.
Wings all splayed at odd angles, knife still grasped.
“What have you done, Night? My plan is naught if
You are not there for it. Please, stay with me.”
His bones shook as he held him to his heart
And the limp body’s blood pooled down his vest.
There was a wan pulse, fading, as he clung
To the flight leathers still on his bird’s form.
Do not remember, push the thought away:
This was not the past, not his brother’s love
Laid dormant in the hall for all to see.
No, it was not the affair of his kin
But he was just as cold as she had been.
Perhaps he was the cold one. That was odd,
It was assumed he had heat in his veins.
Now, he was so engrossed in his mate that
He did not heed his father’s carcass as
It started to glow.
And a strange feeling began to fill him
As molten blazes, liquid flame, began
To quickly filter into his dour self.
It fled from the inert corpse of his sire
To the new, blazing scion of their dreams.
The flames loved their new master, for they knew
That he would be the Lord to make their heat
Known as angelic and good in his lands.
Why did his body arch as it gained this
Abnormal force, jolt as if gored by it?
As it burned his skin, curdling his red blood
Gold, raising him above the standard fae.
But Mother, how it made him writhe, for he
Dropped the man’s arm as he was lifted up
Not of his own volition, but the fire’s.
Still he reached down, forever straining back
Though his frame became wreathed in molten flames,
And pain lanced through his every nerve, filling,
Re-molding him in the harsh forge of fate.
Just then, a man burst through the doors and yelled,
-Lord of Foxes
“Wait!”
His red hair flamed out, a slash through one eye.
A Cauldron-made strode in his wake, a bright,
Fair haired, far seeing maiden. She knew all.
So as the new king fell, she sent her knight,
The brother of flame and son of pure light,
To catch him and lay him down on the tile.
Then he leapt to the hulk of shadows ‘round
The winged man, still and silent on the floor,
Encircled his limp form with his limbs, and
Took him in his broad arms as he stood up.
Now, holding both, he winnowed to Day Court,
Returning quickly to bring his adored.
Both darkness and divine fire in day’s care,
Both with a large dearth of blood; rough from wear.
Sat here next to them, he prayed for their lives.
-High Lord of Day
Unfiltered sun— distrustful of the Lord,
Though he himself was one, and stronger too.
However, he still went, for his son asked,
And his love, whom he’d rescued, had proclaimed
Her deep amór for the son she’d first birthed.
He had felt the exchange of power when,
Mere minutes ago, the king of flak and
Shogunate kindling had gone from this world.
So he passed the door with his hackles up,
Presuming the worst would meet him, but no.
Two bodies, dying slowly, laid on cots.
Their blood soaked his sheets through; they needed help.
He looked at his son, head bowed at a bed.
Thought of his caring minx, who loved her spawn,
Who would not want her son to be disturbed,
Turned crazy, wild from a dead mating bond.
The Sun, Spell-cleaver, stepped up to the cots
And held out his palms.
However, he stood
For many hours ‘fore either man woke up.
-New King of Autumn
Oh Mother, his head hurt. What had he done?
‘Twas scalding, so hot he knew he wasn’t home.
Perhaps this was the portent of his fall.
But, if true, why did his chest pain him so?
Ah, his beloved! Was he at life’s risk—
That was when it all came back to his mind.
His turgid father, dead and gone at last,
And his bat, red sap soaking into his
Tight leathers from the lesion in his side.
Then he had become Autumn monarch, but
It had ached too much. He assumed he’d fell
Unconscious. Even so, where was his spy?
He stood, his mind made up. He would find him.
He followed the tug on his ribs outside,
Where he found the crown of Night screaming at
The baron of Day out in the hall’s way.
Next to him stood his son, defiant and
Proud, still and tall against the turgid rex.
“I am his Lord, and he is mine! If you
Choose to protract his stay here any more,
You shall be the one ending this fight sore.
Heed, give me back my shadow singer, for
I tire of this talk.”
Pretentious prick, his mind voiced. Give him back?
I, even, would see that he tried to help.
“They are in my care, dear sir, on account
Of my son, who brought them here for my help.”
“‘They’? You mean to tell me that Autumn is
In your court? Do you not know what risk he—”
“Your Lordship, I think that is quite enough,”
He said as he strode into the mad fray.
“Your master of spies was extremely hurt,
And the khan of day, at risk to himself,
Took him in and helped him heal. Why do you,
With knowledge that your brother is alive
But healing, barge in to take him away?
You are a knave and a fool, evening king.”
The silence flooded into the arcade,
All four in it shocked for a moment, then,
“Ah. Autumn. Just ascended, did you not?
You should go back and lie down, for it seems
You don’t know what you’re talking about. I
Let him go help you, and now it is time
For him to come back. Do not meddle more.”
He studied the fall ruler with a lens,
Assessing him just as a boffin would.
He hated it, loathed his perspective on
The matter, for, was that man not his kin?
Dolts; foolish blockheads, surely, the whole lot.
He merely turned to the spell cleaver, and
Told him, “Thank you for healing him and I.
I will remember your concern for us.”
Air seemed to freeze around the dark-clothed man,
Immensely vexed that he was being shunned.
-Lord of Foxes
The Prince looked at his father, then wheeled back.
He took a pace towards the most potent,
Dynamic, potent figure in the room,
And said, “Please leave our presence at this time.
Assistance is not needed here and now,
For all his vitals are steady. You have
Forced your way into the alcazar, rent
Apart quite a few wards on your way here,
And trespassed in the inner chambers to
Boot. Before we declare this as an act
Of war against our nation, take your leave.”
A host of feelings passed on his paled face,
Then he twirled on his heel and left the hall.
To the side of the Lord of Day, the male
With red hair stumbled and fell to the wall.
-New King of Autumn
The world was spinning. He gripped the wall tight.
Perhaps it had not been the wisest thing;
To stroll around soon after losing so
Much blood. Still, while he could, he had to ask,
“May I see the liege of the dark? I know
It might be brazen to ask now, since you
Just kicked out the doyen of night for the—”
Both other males cut in at the same time,
“Not an astute idea, you should sit,”
And, “Surely you would like to lay down first?”
They gave sharp glances at each other, then
Looked back for the response. A moment passed.
He straightened, the walls stopping to close in.
“No… I am quite fine. Thank you, once again.
Should I leave? As Lord of Fall, surely I
Am causing you concern by staying here.”
His brother took a stride, approaching him.
“I was who brought you to the palace, here:
Your presence here is my fault; I’ll take blame.
Come, follow me. You shall view your brave knight.”
A clear blush on his face, the eldest trailed.
The room was scarcely any strides past his,
The fixtures almost the same. Only the
Carl dozing in the vast four-poster, like
A big, unwieldy dog, curled in for sleep.
He drew up a chair, perching on the edge
As he leaned forward to glom a glance at
His saving grace, his darling, turning to
Appraise his sibling after. “Why did you
Come to save us— save me? The last I knew,
You were with that blonde lass from the night court,
And our… familial ties did not help our
Connection. To put it in simple terms:
I thought you hated me. Why did you help?”
Beseeching him for a response with his
Large eyes, as his soul screeched for a reply.
-Lord of Foxes
He did not know what to say. Maybe, with
The urging from his wife, yes, maybe it
Was high time for him to tell the whole truth.
“Yes, most of what you speak is true, but hear:
A year past my nuptial, whence I had left
The court of night, I came back to my friend,
Another I thought long lost. Yet he took
Me back, back into his life like no time
Had passed. I had not noticed how I had
Missed him all those years. Then, he mentioned that
He had kept something from me all those years.
‘Lu,’ he said, ‘I should have warned you before.
But every time I tried, you got so riled
And angry, shutting out all that I said.
In any case, I should have told you. Lu,
When you came to Spring, wounded but asleep,
Your brother carried you here. He begged, tears
In his eyes, to take you. When his kin came,
He killed one of his brothers by himself.’
Then, he gave me your letters. I had not
Seen them, did not know they existed. And…
They faced me with the truth that I had tried
Denying for years. I talked with my spouse,
Her sister- both agreed you were not like
Your father. I recalled my mem’ries of
Old, when you took care of us if our ma
Was too frail to move, when you took the brunt
Of the belt- I remembered that you had
Not showed up when… she died. I had assumed
You hated me, was of the notion that
If you could have done something, you would have
Saved my tryst; my love. Mother, I was thick.
Because of course, you would try to save me,
Not the girl who, without doubt, would incur
The wrath of the Tsar. I did not read in-
Between the lines, just wrote the book my way,
Not caring who I left. Why did I help?
I wanted to bring back the brother I
Once knew.”
-New King of Autumn
He stared at this male, the one he gave so,
So much to, and tried to accept what he
Was hearing. It was too much, all at once.
So he just nodded slightly, trying to
Smile, but the muscles on his face were still
And frozen. He just sat there, looking grim.
At last, the sole words he came up with were,
“Thank you.” They each looked at the other, a
Sort of peace crashing into them at last.
There would be a time, later, to talk more.
He turned back to the figure on the bed,
The one that proffered a speech so akin
To this one, after he had found him in
Chains, locked up in the house of his late dad,
Forgotten or left for dead. After a
Long moment, he stepped forward, going to
Take him out of the shackles, but he said—
“No. If you help me, he will know. I would
Have to spend more time down here. I cannot
Risk that. Please, Shadow Singer, do not help.”
He stood there for a second, torn, but then
Turned and left. Later, when the door of his
Cage had been opened, and he was alone
At last, the male appeared again. Without
A word, he dressed the sores on the male’s weak,
Frail corse, then put him in his bed when he
Fell into sleep. A slow truce had emerged,
And quickly, it spilled over: the night they
Collided. It was not hard, painful, or
Fast— They did it again, again, again.
One day, the male with dark hair had sat him
Down, telling him that he saw, could discern
The man behind the masks. Of course, he was
Scared, but perhaps he shouldn’t have attacked.
Yes, he had acted rashly, but he had
Known that his bat would come back. Always did,
Forever would. They both knew why it was.
When his love woke up,
The sun was rising
On the next day. He
Had not slept at all.
-Shadowsinger
His eyes were heavy-lidded, the world he
Could see, blurred. There was a large, breathing mass,
Unmoving on the chair beside him. That
Was when the pain rammed into him, full force.
He groaned, a headache creeping in. But what—
Oh. Yeah, he had killed the Fall Monarch, had
He not? Well, the old bastard had deserved
It. Every second of pain was worth it,
He only wished that he had suffered more,
But you take what you get. Including a
Stab wound in his side, it would seem. It hurt.
The man on the stool stirred as he awoke,
Decrying the outrageous locus that
He fell unconscious in with a loud yawn
And a loud cracking of joints. Then, he looked
Up, straight at him. Awake. Alive. Still here.
The pain in his bones all but vanished, though
His heart seemed to jump, running with the wind.
-New King of Autumn
He was awake. It would all be okay.
But the winged male was shaking, he should ask:
“Do you want something to drink? Are you cold?
You’re surely cold, here, I can—” He reached out,
To touch him, mayhaps, warm him, he flinched
Away. Then he regretted it at once,
When he went rigid, his face turning in
To that familiar mask of stone. No, his
Brain shouted at him, He should not have to
Look like that. Never, not again. Around
Him, shadows stirred from their rest. Forcing his
Weak body to move, he grabbed the outstretched
Palm, twining their hands into one. “Sorry,”
He muttered, “I don’t know why I did that…
Some water would be nice. Thanks.” After a
Short moment, he unclasped his fingers, and
The other seemed to leave his stupor. He
Stretched to grab the glass from the table on
His left side. His arm had to reach across
Him, and he stood to grab the damned thing at
Last. After a tense second, the tall male
Seized the cup, handed it to him, and sat
Back down with a huff. He drunk it down with
A fervor only seen with someone whose
Lips have not seen hydration for hours, days.
He put the glass down. Glanced at his hound, who
Schooled his face into form at once; He had
Been wearing a slight smile. As they held
Each other’s eyes, the golden string between
Them lightly hummed, delighted at this act.
-Chorus
They never needed to say it, they knew
All the same. But soon, maybe, one of them
Would gain the courage to say the words in
Both their minds, hearts, their very being. ‘Till
Then, they could figure out the rest, with an
Unspoken truce.
I love you, Azri’l
I love you, Eris

Fiery
Fandom delicious in dangeon Kabru of Utaya x gn!reader
Synopsis Kabru's gut feeling screams for him to run from the mysterious fire caster, but he can't pinpoint the exact reason.
899 words

In that horrific moment, where traumas of his childhood resurfaced, another truth shook Kabru to the core.
The enormous harpy that Falin had transformed into was decimating his companions, and now it was his turn.
As its sharp claws closed in, the air suddenly turned scorching hot, and a wall of searing flames erupted between him and the creature.
Tears welled from the heat’s sting, and the smell of burnt flesh reached his nose, making him recoil in disgust.

- Wow! You have eyes scarier than mine. -
Slit pupils gazed far too closely into his. Kabru fought to maintain his composure, but the intensity of this stare almost made him falter.
The owner of the sharp gaze shifted their attention to the samurai leading the group. - Sir, I understand you're infatuated with this girl, but please don't get "blinded by love".-
Perched casually on the samurai's shoulder was a figure Kabru had only noticed earlier for their fire spells. Now, he truly saw them. Tall, elegant, their posture and attire somehow still refined despite the chaos of battle.
Something unsettling felt about their presence but he couldn’t quite place. It wasn’t just their height—though they stood taller than the "tall men" at present—it was something more primal that crawled beneath his skin.
- I’ll take any help I can get. - the samurai grumbled, clearly agitated. - They claim to know something about Falin. -
- I don't doubt your judgment, Master, but we should be wary. - stepped forward the woman in white and threw a sharp glance at the stranger who just intimidated the souldier.
Kabru’s lips curved into a practiced smile, a charming mask that rarely failed him. - My apologies if I came across as intense, - he said, chuckling lightly to ease the tension - I only wish to repay your kindness. Please, allow me to be of use in finding the Touden sister. - and pressing a fist to his chest, he bowed slightly, the curls on his head bouncing as he lowered his head.
Other then the red cheeks of the rest of the party, when he raised his eyes, he found himself facing that unnerving gaze once more. Their expression calm, almost bored, yet his instincts screamed danger. Every muscle in his body tensed, fight or flight hammering in his veins.
- Terrific...- They whispered, their voice dark and unsettling enough to make even the samurai beside them shiver. - Unlucky day for you, handsome. Takes a liar to know one.- A lazy grin stretched across their lips, and the air around them grew stifling with heat, like the flames they commanded.
- Master Shuro, we only need to keep moving deeper into the dungeon. No guide is necessary. - their gaze narrowed with barely contained irritation. - What was your name captain? -
The boy swallowed hard, his throat suddenly dry. - K-Kabru. -
- Well, Kabru - they leaned closer, their breath hot against his skin. - If you care about your companions at all, you'll leave this place. Mermen and sea serpents are nothing compared to what lies below—dragons don’t care how many times your cleric resurrects you. Either your body or their magic will run dry first.- Their eyes bored into him with a fierceness that twisted his stomach into knots.
Before he could respond, the woman with dark hair tugged the stranger back by the ear, like a mother scolding a mischievous child. - Could’ve gotten your point across with kinder words, don’t you think?-
Kabru stood frozen, still gripped by a sense of dread he couldn’t shake. His mind raced, trying to reconcile the cold fear he felt with the strange attraction pulling at him, like two opposing forces battling within. He clenched his fists, desperate to keep his thoughts in check, but his body betrayed him unable to choke out more words.
A string of cries from the firm tag broke the tension and once freed the stranger gave a disinterested shrug. - Do whatever. Just stay out of my way, or I might roast you with the enemy. - The shift was disarming. Their voice was suddenly calm again, as if they hadn’t just threatened his life.
But at least he had secured what he wanted.

The memory of the encounter burned in his mind as flames flickered across his skin, bringing him back to the present. The dust from the current battle was settling, and shapes began to form in the clearing smoke.
He had been saved, yet the scene before him was anything but reassuring.
Instinctively, he threw himself backward, his gaze darting between the figures ahead. The puzzle he had tried to solve for days now seemed painfully clear. His eyes, sharp and observant, had missed none of their moves. He had suspected something, but now the truth was unmistakable.
They had fooled him with their disguise.
A melodic whistle of a flute broke through the chaos, and new features sprouted from their body. Fox-like ears, a tail, a monster. Kabru's chest filled with dread and hatred, a deep urge to destroy them rising with his every heartbeat. But before he could act, the giant harpy lunged toward him, claws slicing through the air, forcing him to the ground.
What a joke, dying like this. Blood filled his vision as the Inari, their face twisted in sorrow, sent another burst of fire at the creature crushing him. He watched helplessly and the pain in his body finally overtook him.
Agonizingly, everything went black once again.

To be continued...

I want more games like Dragon's Dogma 2 and Persona 3 Reloaded where the NPCs actively will just talk shit about you either in conversation amongst themselves or to other people who summon them.
If you don't know in Dragon Dogma 2, your Pawns or helpful NPC guide buddies who help you fight and do stuff through the game. Can also be used to aid other people playing the game via an online lobby...thingie. If you only ever make Pawns of certain gender, you better believe, your pawns will note this and discuss it with other people's pawns whom have summoned yours for aid. In Persona 3 Reloaded if you have a load out of only female characters while ascending the dungeon, the characters will sometimes take note of this. The Robogirl of the squad will internet search and find out that this is sometimes regarded as a "harem" and generalizes that most men your character's age dream of having one.
I need more of this. I want NPCs to point out these things and then stare into the camera. I want an NPC to note that, hey these characters are all weak to one particular element. You're really living on the edge or something. I need them to be like, wow, you really like hanging out with X they've been in your party for all our outings. etc. etc.
I just like it.
In summary: Let us summon Zenos so we can get NPC dialogue of him being obliviously observant of what NPCs we bring with us into Trusts and so forth.
Ah...my friend, this place once again? It seems you've taken a great liking to your Dragoon ally as of late. While his combat prowess is strategic. Perhaps the child with a rapier might be of more use here...or was it the one with the blue outfit? Who am I to judge you though? THERE IS CONTEST TO BE WON!

I have decided to try to make all of the prompts part of a single story.
Day 1 Here< >Day 3 Here
WOW's Birthday Event- Day 2: Starvation / Thirst / “Please…”
⚠️CW: creepy/intimate whumper, starvation, captivity, torture.
Whumpee had been with Whumper several days now, or at least they thought. Time passed so strangely without any sunlight to mark the passing days. In fact, Whumper hadn’t even been there since Whumpee was captured. Nobody had.
It had been days since Whumpee had eaten. They hadn’t even been given water since being first chained down here. The chains that held them to the wall chafed. They only allowed whumpee just enough room to sit against the cold stone wall.
Whumpee’s stomach growled, they were beginning to worry they would just waste away in the dark down here, forgotten. They desperately needed food and water.
Their thoughts turned to their team, trying to desperately to distract them self. Whumpee wondered what Youngest was doing right now without them. Whumpee and Youngest would do everything together, often causing chaos for the other team members in the process. The memories made them chuckle, brightening them a bit.
Whumpee allowed their thoughts to move to caretaker. Caretaker was the gentlest member of the team, a talented healer. They were a terrible cook though, they laughed out loud, the sound echoing off the cold stone through darkness. It rang back cold and harsh, drawing Whumpee back to the lonely emptiness of what they were pretty sure was a basement or a dungeon.
All at once a blinding light filled the area. Whumpee had been in the dark so long it burned their eyes. They were convinced for a moment their eyes would never be able to adjust again.
Whumper strode over to the pitiful captive, with their eyes squeezed shut. “Good morning, my beautiful new masterpiece,” Whumper chirped happily. “I trust you slept well.”
Once Whumpee’s eyes finally adjusted to the light, their heart sank. This wasn’t who they were originally fighting, like he assumed. This was someone completely new. Whumpee hadn’t been captured, hey realized in horror that they had been abducted, kidnapped. Even if the team tried to rescue them they wouldn’t be there.
“Hello? Darling? Anyone home,” Whumper wave their hand in front of their face, still sounding disturbingly chipper.
“Please, water…” Whumpee croaked, their voice sound even rougher than expected. The light and noise was beginning to give them a headache.
“Oh, no, no, my sweet, I need you pale, a blank canvas for my art,” Whumper’s voice dripped with false sweetness. “if you do well for me you might get some later.” Whumper unshackled Whumpee’s wrists, only to put them immediately into handcuffs. They then repeated the process with Whumpee’s ankles. Just for sure measure Whumper also forced a ball gag with a panel over the lips into their mouth. They wrenched the buckles cruelly tight over Whumpee’s mouth, bringing tears to the corners of Whumpee’s eyes.
It was only after it was ensured Whumpee could not escape that Whumper turned on the lights to the rest of the room. What was revealed caused Whumpee to start whimpering and crying.
There was a wall full of all kinds of implements that looked like they were for torture, as well as various bondage furniture and furniture that just looked like it was for straight torture. To top it all off there was a small stage in the corner with a camera set up, and a rack of clothes next to it.
“We’re going to have such a good time dear; I’m going to make you so pretty for your photo shoot,” Whumper said, cheerfully. “Now, let’s start by decorating that lovely skin.”
Whumper guided the now absolutely terrified Whumpee to a bench. They laid them down on top of the handcuffs without locking them first, causing them to wrench down tight on Whumpee’s wrist, biting into their flesh. This made Whumpee let out a muffled scream.
“Oh, what a lovely noise!” Whumper exclaimed, “you didn’t tell me you were into musical art!”
Whumper was becoming more unsettling by the second. Whumpee hated to admit it to themself, but he wished it had been the arms dealer the team tried to take out to capture him. The person who had him currently was completely deranged.
Whumper secured Whumpee to the bench and then walked over to the wall with all of the tools. Whumpee began to tremble.
Whumper selected several knives, at least that’s what Whumpee thought it looked like from their limited view. Soon Whumper was skipping- literally skipping- back to Whumpee.
“Now sweetheart, lets make you gorgeous before we dress you up for the photo shoot,” Whumper had a wide, unsettling grin that sent shivers down Whumpee’s spine.
They tried to struggle, to break loose, desperate to get away, but it was no use, squirming only caused the handcuffs to tighten further. “Oh right, I almost forgot!” Whumper sat the knives down next to Whumpee’s face on the bench. He disappeared somewhere…. Above them?…. Behind them?.... Whumpee’s brain wasn’t thinking straight, they were starving, severely dehydrated and terrified.
Whumper returned with a video recorder. They sat up the tripod off to the side of the bench Whumpee was secured to. “We need to record the creative process; how could I have almost forgotten?” Whumper ran his fingertips along Whumpee’s chest. “absolutely pristine,” they said, barely above a whisper. “I think I’ll add some red.” Whumper picked up a short, needle-like knife.

Omori observations 28
"i never want to see another sprout mole again in my life"
Yeah Hero is having a bad time.
he’s been having a bad day (night)
And i’m fairly sure a lot of this dream is about him in a way, the track that plays now is called Wandering Rose, I doubt that’s a coincidence.
it’s a piano/violin duet. A lot of people say that the violin doesn’t appear in the soundtrack until the very end, but that isn’t true.
Sweetheart and Omori weren’t lying. Those guys are dumb. they’re intelligent in the sense that they are sentient, not smart.
Well she’s probably edible.
Pretty good, but also concerning
I can imagine
i’m not sure anymore
The sprout moles in the royal guard tend to make people question whether sprout moles get to have distinct names and personnalities, but yeah those are titles actually.
In case there was any ambiguity left
Interesting
The rosemary cake sent me to what sounds like the pirefly forest. I had to turn my volume to the max because the sound was so subdued.
Meanwhile the nondescript strawberry cake sent me back.
This place looks super weird.
The clouds aren’t drawn in the same style as everything else here.
Also, the track that’s currently playing is Stationary rose, which is wandering rose without the piano. Only the violin.
This cannot be a coincidence either.
Without a pianist our violonist has been pretty stationary.
Sweetheart is the one who comes up with all sprout mole names.
The first time was with "you just have to stop and smell the roses", the second time is "live and let live", and knowing this game there has got to be a third time.
But i can’t remember a third time.
Aubrey is still pretty bummed about not being able to smash the pile of sprout mole corpses earlier.
But also, i’m not sure what happened here
What’s certain is that Castella is insanely strong
Ishós
Not that surprising
Who is that
i’m sorry what
The hyper pixelated pan over sir maximus is very funny
Valour Against All Odds is a very catchy track too
See, this right there is infuriating
shouldn’t it be thou shalt ?
Wait for real i can do that?
I agree that soy sauce is cool stuff. it’s way too maligned and underrated.
Wow… (unironically)
Things hero was always meant to be:
Caregiver (hot diggity dog)
Protector (mountain)
Saint (goosey)
Defender (smol)
Guide (box mole)
Hero (bones)
Angel (tiffany darling)
You were an elaborate duchamp joke all along
This one is called "sweetheart eating a burrito"
So burritos are baby donuts?
But also would you look at this
that’s what I get for having default windows vista wallpapers
Lest you forget that we are at all time wearing dead sprout mole’s faces as masks
Found the keeper of the castle corridor.
It is completely devoid of sound.
Well except for a loud note
And murmurs
There was a strident noise and I was here.
I think the music that played was Glade ?
So the interesting thing is, yes, I still have the choice of a path at this point. Not for long though.
When i’m not in a train i’ll listen to this place more attentively
The liquid is not
Watermelon juice
Fruit punch
I saved in the dungeon (since I haven’t yet found Mari in the castle).
it's easy to get lost in this place
i’ll continue later, as i have a fairly low battery and the train is pretty near the station, and is having problems too.

So you want to clear a Mirror Dungeon: A Limbus Company Mirror Dungeon guide
Are you a manager stuck doing Mirror Dungeons? Do you sometimes wonder “Wow, I got an EGO Gift, but is it appropriate for this run?” Do you need to clear a Mirror Dungeon under an hour on Hard? Are you starting out, wondering why there’s so many shiny stars on the menu?
Then you come to the right place. In this guide, I will, well, give some guidelines I followed throughout my year long career as Limbus Company executive manager, and hopefully it will ease you in better than I had to figure out on my own.
Index:
Preparation
General Guidelines
Tips and Tricks
Preparation:
- Check your team and dungeon difficulty. Unless you’re a masochist or really experienced, it isn’t a good idea to tackle a hard mirror dungeon with underleveled sinners. Do the easy dungeon to get used to how it plays and see which teams and strategies work.
- What is your team’s status effect? As of now (Canto VII), the gameplay revolves around less of your team levels but around the status effects, with some fusion gifts explicitly rewarding you for building teams around them. Build a dedicated team for the EGO fusion gifts if you can.
- Save up as much starlight as possible and get those EGO Gifts dirt cheap. You will need those EGO Gifts to compensate for the high levels and enemy buffs.
- Please, please make sure you equip the proper ID and EGOs. You do not want to spend Cost on any unnecessary adjustments for your sinners once inside, so make sure you chose the right ones early.
- Did you know you can dedicate a team for Mirror Dungeon on the sinners menu and give it the name? Saves you a lot of time adjusting EGOs.
- The sin generation on the side? It will help in knowing how much you can spam EGOs. Very important for later floors, so make sure to have a team that has all the sins covered.
General Guidelines:
- First floor, EGO resources generation and SP max. Since this is still manageable, your weaker IDs can still clash here. So let them run wild on the first floor, build up their SP and gain EGO resources.
- Second to third floor, switch to main team with high clashing power and damage output.
- Fourth to Fifth floor, you should have an EGO Fusion Gift or at least its parts. At this point, you are roughly equal with the enemy, even with the enemy buffs. If not, you should have a ton of EGO gifts that gives you an edge + EGOs by now at least. Pro Tip: EGO Spam away here and enjoy the subtle animations of your favorite sinners as your mirror dungeon becomes an EGO animation showcase.
- Ensure your whole team is at max SP at all times. You will need it to pass EGO Gifts and Boss checks.
- If your enemy is staggered and you can secure a victory, instead of going all out with S3, use the other two skills instead to generate EGO resources and save the S3 for later waves/boss phases.
- Coffee and Cranes + Zippo Lighter breaks the dungeon difficulty in half, especially with strong EGOs equipped.
- Tackle Focus and Difficult battle nodes as much as you reasonably can. The former gives you more control over attacks, and both give you much needed EGO gifts.
- Take paths with branching paths as much as possible on hard, it will give you breathing room and lets you tackle stages at your own pace.
- Question nodes are double edged swords. You could gain EGO Gifts and avoid difficult battles, but you could also be trapped in harmful events, lose out on potential cost and even be railroaded into difficult battles. Pick wisely.
- If you gain an EGO gift that doesn’t work well in your current team (e.g Burn on Sinking Team), sell it ASAP. Note this can depend on how it activates. For example, if you have Everlasting Faust on her non-tremor IDs and Melted Eyeball, it might be worth keeping anyway because of how good it is.
- Related to above, Cost-increasing/Cost-giving gifts should be sold off completely in the shop of the last floor. You will need the cost you sold to buy better gifts/upgrades.
- On later floors (especially on Hard), your sinner’s teammates will gain SP if they land the defeating blow. This is very useful for late floor battles so you don’t need to spend an EGO to recover SP, not so much if you run N Sinclair or Suncliff.
- Favored/Dominating? Go for it. Neutral? Risk, use EGO, or defend. Hopeless? EGO, defend, or redirect the attack to a tank.
- If you don’t like the dungeon pack selection or their gifts, you can refresh it. May not guarantee better dungeons or gifts, though…
Tips and Tricks:
-Sinking is usually a safe bet for most runs. The only time it doesn’t work well is in human battles, and that’s because you can’t deal gloom damage past -45 without Sinking Deluge and is basically a cheese strategy anyways.
- For the Enkephalin-Box Abno, you can actually fail the check on purpose to gain its charge access card EGO Gift for zero SP cost. I have 20 cards this way.
- Poise is always welcome to any team. It’s basically free extra damage. It’s very powerful when you can stagger enemies and it triggers.
- Rupture is also basically free damage, and is best for enemy buffs that raise their defense stats to very damn high/enemies with ridiculous resistance stats + low stagger.
- Bleed is high risk, high reward. While it’s peak comedy to watch enemies explode to gore, you risk having to actually land the bleed and then let your enemies bleed out. Without certain EGO Gifts, it could spell the end of a run if you aren’t careful. Still hilarious, though.
- Know when to call a loss a loss. If you can’t beat a boss because your IDs are not well suited/no EGO resources, it’s okay to end the run early. If you made it to the 4/5th floor, pay yourself on the back for a good job well done and beat it next week.
- Pick enemy buff options that make them tanky, but not lethal as well. Better to win a war of attrition than to be outclashed often and unable to land a hit at all.
- Offset counters by using defense skills. While the counter can still be triggered by other attacks, you can use a defense skill so you can ‘skip’ attacking. Please note this will not work with enemies with multiple skill slots, so refer to the following tip below.
- Dogpiling attacks (all skills on one skill icon) to ensure a stagger is recommended when there’s too many skills to clash/skill power is absolutely ridiculous. You will appreciate this tip in Canto V, you will need it.
- Defense Skills exist. Use them. In some cases, it’s just better to take a hit because not even an EGO can save you. Some attacks aren’t even that dangerous when you have a defense skill active. Remember, just because your sinner got staggered doesn’t mean they’re done. If they have at least 1+ HP, you still have a chance to heal back.
- Related to team composition, you don’t need to have the team at full starlight bonus, especially if you need an ID that has certain status effects. Prioritize team synergy over starlight gathering, unless you’re still building the constellation up.
- Don’t forget, there’s no shame in playing on the easy difficulty. It’s not the most time efficient in short bursts like hard, but it’s the best dungeon to explore new kits, gifts and strategies without pressure.
Well then, class dismissed and happy mirror dungeon time!

Learning raid mechanics on site rarely goes well i’ve done it so many times esp in ffxiv and it is so difficult unless the mechanics are like the standard 3. I dont think its anyone’s fault tbh I think its more a matter of accepting that you need a few tries to get it. I used to think i was trash but then i realized its insane of me to think ill be able to play flawlessly while experiencing something new where i have to watch out for mechanics ive never come across before, manage my rotation and on top of that listen to other people giving me instructions like… i believe most people dont perform great when their focus is split on multiple things at once
(Ok so wall of text because i am very passionate about mechanics in video games)
Oh for sure and I was telling them in voice at the time that I don't learn things well on the spot and especially not in the middle of a fight. At one point I was so frustrated with a boss (the last boss of Lighthouse ??? I don't remember the raid name, it was before or after orbonne monastery) that I wasn't accepting rezzes because I just kept dying to things that weren't at all intuitive. During the robot boss where you had to do math and step in the circle that had your answer I didn't understand that either because they didn't explain it to me.
FF14 at some point becomes very "play blind" unfriendly I've noticed. Late telegraphs and gotchas are much more common. its not always a bad thing, but it does get annoying having to Google dungeon or raid guides every single time I have to do a new one for the MSQ, which I had to do for a few raids in shadow bringers and most stuff for Endwalker. That's part of the fun for most people, and my friends cited wanting to give me the blind experience when they didn't explain things, but for me and I'm sure for you it just ended up making me more frustrated. especially when you have ego problems and hate performing poorly with other people.
I had to make flash cards for the epic of Alexander because that fight is so complicated I knew I wouldn't be able to remember anything without relentless studying and wouldn't get anything if it was explained to me on the spot. Obviously I didn't do amazing at it my short time in there (my friends are still trying to find a day that works well for the most people to keep going) because there is really no amount of studying that can prepare you for the environment that is a very mathed out, highly intricate raid with extremely high personal responsibility doing a very very very specific strategy when you're both A. new and B. coming from wow which is comparatively a mosh pit. Like my friends dragged me in there when I was level 85 or something and it was horrifying. But I'd argue I did a lot better than I did in any normal ass ivalice raid because I had the chance to study and learn beforehand.
I haven't beaten Eureka Orthos yet (I died to f99 boss sun spots because I didn't quite understand how the hitboxes worked and ended up cornering myself into a bad spot) but I think I'm pretty good at it and I'm sure I'll get it next run, which I was honestly thinking about starting after I checked my ask box. It's taken me about like 2 or 3 real attempts to get there but because I had the chance to study up on every single boss and every single mob as much as I wanted beforehand I don't have a problem actually doing the mechanics and I don't think I've died/used up a rez/ended the run to not doing the thing because i did it wrong (besides excalibur). Sometimes i just end up zoning out for a few seconds and K.O because 6+ hours of undivided attention is kind of hard to ask for LOL.
My friends have watched me do orthos and were like You are fucking deranged having absolutely no fear fighting Zaratans, Thunderbeasts, Spectres, 91-98 Orthochimeras which are all extremely mechanically demanding in some way. I know all the mobs by heart and I have the confidence in myself to do the simon says of something like a chimera correctly every single time granted my attention doesn't lapse. but that's only because I learned what they did beforehand, not on the spot, where I definitely would not be able to engrain anything into my head because I would be so stressed out. EO is probably the closest thing I have to wow's really high m+ dungeons where you die to literally anything in a far fetched way so it makes me feel at home LOL

------ Chapter 21: Royal Lessons ------
A pit of dread settled in Milton’s gut as he gained passage to the castle courtyard, bright and early the next morning. He didn’t want to be here. King Richard severely creeped him out, and he couldn’t stop thinking about that poor little woman, so full of suffering, that he’d seen in the giant’s clutches. He couldn’t imagine what she had to endure, as his personal plaything. He’d witnessed the king fawning over her with tender love, but Hardon was not known for his clemency, even among the commoners.
Milton was forced to cancel with his other clients. At first, they voiced their displeasure, but once they heard that he was serving the king, their complaints died on their lips. Everyone knew not to cross King Richard. Milton tried to see the positives as he surveyed the magnificent statues and well-manicured gardens. The fragrance of fresh flowers and the steady trickle of a fountain, along with a modest stream that flowed through a channel for irrigation, helped to soothe his troubled mind. The courtyard was peaceful; his steps clacked off the cobblestones and echoed off the stone walls to break up the sound of water.
He found Leon waiting for him at the entrance to the castle. “Ah, Milton! Glad to see you!” Leon proclaimed with genuine enthusiasm. He was relieved that Milton came, so he wouldn’t have to send out soldiers to compel him.
Milton genially shook his hand. Leon had a weak grip that lacked confidence, as if he were afraid of squishing the other man’s hand. Milton was struck by the contrast between the headstrong, barbaric king and his wimpy, but kind-hearted, advisor. Leon led him into the castle and proceeded down a long hall, then descended a steep flight of stairs. He continued down a maze of corridors, deep into the bowels of the castle. Milton sensed they were going somewhere of grave importance, far within the inner sanctum.
Leon stopped at a large, ancient wooden door with thick iron trim and handles. “Here’s the library,” he explained. He inserted a key into the rusty lock and opened the enormous door with a heavy creak. The scratching of the key and the grating squeal of the door resounded through the musty air of the empty, otherwise quiet hall.
“Wow, I didn’t expect it to be so far underground,” Milton remarked. “You’d think it would be somewhere with windows for natural lighting, for reading. This feels more like a dungeon.”
“Well...” Leon paused. “This is no ordinary library. Not just anyone can access it.” Milton quirked a brow. “There are secrets here that must not leave the castle. You understand, yes? You can’t take any books home with you. You may only remove them from the library for instructional purposes.”
Milton nodded, his lips set into a firm line, but inside he was hopping with excitement. Leon earlier had mentioned historical documents, and he could scarcely fathom what sort of state secrets could be buried in the library’s collection, that he wouldn’t be able to find anywhere else. Milton was an intellectual who loved to read and learn, with a natural curiosity for the world around him. He couldn’t wait to dig in and do some research.
Leon handed him a copy of the big iron key. “As the royal tutor, you will have unlimited access to the library, for the sake of the prince and princess’s education. This is no small privilege; don’t misuse it.” Leon was very perceptive of others: He sensed that Milton was an upstanding fellow he could trust.
“Thank you.” Milton was rewarded with a brief glance at deep rows of shelves that burrowed into dim underground passages, before Leon closed the door and guided him back to the ground level of the castle. Leon showed him the classroom where he would be teaching, which had a small private study connected where he could plan lessons and leave his teaching materials as needed. Sturdy wooden cupboards lining the wall contained parchment, quills, books, ink, and an assortment of other supplies.
“How old are the royal children?” Milton asked. In his haste to escape the suffocating confines of the castle the prior day, the question had slipped his mind. He hadn’t been able to prepare or plan at all.
“Crown Prince Ronny is 21, and Princess Bianca is 19,” Leon informed him.
“Oh! So they are adults.” Milton rubbed his chin thoughtfully. He wasn’t certain what kind of instruction the royals would be expecting, but he hadn’t realized the prince and princess were already of age. He would have to adjust his lessons accordingly.
“Any other questions? I really must be going. The prince and princess will arrive for their lessons in about an hour.”
“I’m all set. Thanks.” Leon left, and Milton unshouldered his satchel with his teaching materials and hastened to slap together a lesson plan. He figured the first logical step would be an assessment to determine the level of instruction required, and what subjects needed additional coverage. While he toiled, Ronny and Bianca woke up, ate breakfast, and prepared for their day. Ronny forgot about Tanya, as he did the prior day, and didn’t bother to feed her or check on her. Bianca was determined to quell her troublesome feelings once and for all. She didn’t want to see her pets as people. Since she didn’t want to get attached, she ignored the human male that seemed to like her and picked up Graham instead, snapped him into her necklace, and stuffed him in between her boobs.
Milton barely managed to finish preparations before the royals walked in, announced by a servant. The tutor bowed, as he had seen Leon do earlier before the king. Prince Ronny raked him up and down with his dark, cold eyes before sitting sullenly in his chair. Princess Bianca flashed him a supercilious smirk and sat as far away from her brother as she could, with her chin resting lazily in her slim hand. Milton was intimidated by such illustrious personages but maintained an outward calm.
He cleared his throat. “Good morning. I’ve prepared a written exam for you two to take, to assess your competencies.” He was interrupted with a loud groan from Ronny and an eye roll from Bianca. Milton raised his brows in surprise, not expecting such puerile responses.
“Ugh, really? You’re going to make us waste our time with this?” Ronny complained. “It’s stupid enough that our father is forcing us to do lessons again.”
Milton was mildly flustered, but he didn’t allow his feelings to show on his face. He was here on order of the king: His authority superseded that of his offspring. “It’s necessary,” he replied simply. He handed each student their tests and they got to work, despite their complaints, since they did not wish to anger their father.
Milton sat at his desk and observed them as they took their exams. Ronny furrowed his brow in concentration and chewed absently on the end of his feather pen. Bianca became increasingly frustrated and confused as she perused the questions. She dipped her pen in the ink and scribbled in a few answers, then began doodling in the margins. Ronny gritted his teeth and crumpled the corners of the page as his temper flared at the difficulty of the test. He ran his hand over his slick black hair and massaged his forehead with his fingers, huffing dramatically once every few minutes.
Bianca got bored and started playing with her necklace. She fished out Graham from her cleavage and started fidgeting with him in her hands like a toy, tugging on his twiggy limbs and rotating him in her fingers. Graham wanted to scream at her and slap away her giant fingers, but he remembered what happened to Gio and kept his mouth shut, as infuriated as he was. Even so, small whines escaped his lips as he pushed back weakly in half-hearted protest. He hated the giantess with a passion, hated her every touch, hated to be prodded and pulled like an object.
Milton heard the odd noises and noticed Bianca wasn’t working on her test. He got up from his chair and came over to get her back on task. “Princess Bianca, you need to—what is that?” He stopped. At first, he thought she was fiddling with a doll, but then he noticed the small humanoid form was the thing making sounds. It wasn’t a doll: It was a living person. Milton was stunned.
“Is that—a man?” he asked incredulously.
“Yup,” Bianca replied. “Neat, huh? Isn’t he cute?” She giggled and held up Graham between her thumb and forefinger so the giant tutor could see him better. Graham couldn’t look the giant in the face, so strong was his shame over his own debasement. Milton was flabbergasted. Ronny glanced over at her in disgust.
“Cute? Yeah, right. Fucking gross. Nobody wants to see that; put him away,” he growled.
“Piss off, Ronny. Nobody cares about your opinion.” She stuck her tongue out at her brother, knowing how much her taunting irritated him. Ronny flipped around in his seat, his rage spiking.
Milton, nonplussed, turned to the prince. “Do you have a human too?” If both the king and the princess possessed a person, it seemed likely that the giant prince did as well.
Ronny seemed slightly flustered at the question, his wrath unexpectedly cooling. “Y-yeah,” he muttered gruffly.
“Here? Now?”
“Ugh, no!” Ronny snapped. “I didn’t even want one to begin with. Dad forced me to take one.” His face puckered up as if he just tasted something exceedingly bitter.
“You’re always so whiny and dramatic, Ronny,” Bianca interjected. Ronny’s face reddened with anger and he balled up his fists.
“Alright, enough. Back to your tests,” Milton interrupted before the siblings ripped out each other’s throats. “Bianca, put… him… away, please.” Milton swallowed and turned around with a sickened grimace. He couldn’t believe what he was witnessing. To see humans, so small and helpless, treated like accessories and abused, turned his stomach. He exhaled and smoothed his facial features into a normal expression before returning to his position at his desk.
He allowed the siblings a short break after they finished their quizzes and then reviewed the answers. He was dismayed to find gaping holes in their knowledge. They flunked every subject, from math to science to the humanities. Milton lectured a bit, asking additional questions, and the royals were clueless. They were rude and badly behaved as well: constantly insulting each other, arguing, whining and griping, diverting from the lesson, engaging in disruptive behavior, and disrespecting their new tutor. Finally, Milton decided to cut the lesson short and dismissed them. He sat with his elbows on his desk, cupped his head in his hands, and sighed.
“Well? How did their first lesson go?”
Milton leapt to his feet as if his chair had burst into flames and scrambled into a deep bow. “Um, very well, sir—I mean, Your Majesty?” He gulped. Of all people, he hadn’t anticipated King Richard walking in on him.
“Is that so? They haven’t engaged in formal studies in years. Not since I… dismissed their last tutor.” Hardon folded his lips back into an ominous sneer. Milton gulped again.
“Um… I did happen to notice that they seem far behind in their studies,” he admitted timidly.
King Richard frowned. “Hm?”
Milton handed the king their papers. “You can see for yourself, Your Grace…” He spun his wedding band on his finger anxiously as Hardon’s pale eyes swept the pages. The king absently reached for his necklace and pulled out Millie, cradling her in his palm and rubbing her with his fingers like she was merely a toy that existed for his amusement. His expression darkened and he squeezed his hand around her briefly, making her yelp.
“This is atrocious,” the king snarled. “I didn’t realize my kids were such dullards.” He crumbled the papers in his hand, his face blighted with rage. Millie whimpered. Milton’s heart broke when he heard the pitiable sound.
“Rest assured, I’ll teach them,” Milton promised, if only to mollify the king so he wouldn’t crush the poor woman in his grasp. “We’ll get them back on track where theyre supposed to be.”
“You’d better.” Milton shuddered internally at his sinister words, discerning the implicit threat. “They never should’ve neglected their studies, particularly my eldest son. I should’ve known they would fail me.” The room abruptly felt darker and colder. Milton almost felt like he was being squeezed in an oversized fist, not just Millie.
King Richard fixated on Millie, and his visage morphed into a hideous, furious, bloodthirsty leer. Her eyes grew wet with tears as she stared up at his giant face and squirmed in his palm. Milton felt like he couldn’t breathe.
“Millie, I think lunch would put me in a better mood,” the king sneered. Millie visibly flinched, her face white as a ghost.
“No, please have mercy,” she pleaded. Her voice dropped to a deathly whisper. “Don’t hurt me…” The king only grinned wider as he lumbered out of the room, hunching over her. Milton stood with his feet glued to the floor, listening as Millie pleaded. “Please, Your Majesty, I’ve been a good pet and done everything you’ve asked of me. Please don’t do this to me. Don’t eat me!”
As her voice grew fainter and farther away, his ears registered one last heartbreaking scream. “No!”
