Trying to figure out how the fuck to explain AEW to a friend who has expressed mild interest right now feels like an impossible task of immense importance.

It's like MCU after Infinity War. Right, yes I know you didn't like or care about Marvel, that's just to express the sheer amount of quality content they've thrown at us (which is both overwhelming but once you get used to no longer being drip-fed 8 episodes of a show every two years incredible) and the fact that two of the last three PPVs have ended with 'Art is about eliciting emotions and sometimes those emotions are Bad'. It's way gayer than MCU. The fights are much more varied. The lore and retcon snark from 'we can't talk about our rival DC/WWE' is about the same level.

I swear to god we have evolved from Soap Opera to fighting despotic regimes. The music fucks. You want a body type? We got it. It's better written than most of the shows I've seen in a decade and it actually cares about the fans. The camp is off the charts. When I say 'it cares about the fans' I cannot explain to you the level of sadistic, psychological torture that has just been inflicted on tens of thousands of people last night for fun and entertainment. Both young kids and seasoned industry professionals were literally weeping around me as I wore a shirt emblazoned with the unofficial-official company motto: For The Sickos, but I was also highly visible on the still active Livestream, so I was desperately trying not to smile.

I have zero idea how to explain this to you as a non-wrestling fan, do I start in the early 2000s chronologically or earlier this summer when I started watching and hyperfixated myself?

watched wrestling with someone (like a father or uncle) in their youth,

didn’t watch for a while (for whatever reason)

but came back to it as an adult and now considers themselves a fan.

Did you go through a phase as a child where you tried to “debunk” wrestling? Like “Oh come on, that kick was nowhere near his face. This is so fake!”

And if you did, do you cringe thinking about it now?

Honestly though, "just because you think they are hot"... like 50% of wrestlbr doesn't even watch wrestling... be real, it's all about the hot gifs. You don't like Adam Page because of his lariat and promos, you like him because he's got pretty hair and love handles.

The sexiest lineup I've ever seen in New Japan (minus Gedo, that little gremlin).

I wanted to post my thoughts about Dominion 2023 but honestly my biggest takeaway from the whole event is this crazy-awesome rebirth of Bullet Club. I'll be honest, I kinda thought NJPW was on its way to just erode Bullet Club after Jay White left, especially with ELP getting kicked out and David Finlay being not so impressive (IMO). But little by little I've been proven wrong. Little by little the new Bullet Club has been gathering up some of the best fresh talent in NJPW and turned them into something both deadly and worth watching.

And since this is Tumblr, I'll just say it: this stable is pure fanfic bait. I mean LOOK AT THEM. The fact that my horny ass took the time to pause the shitty NJPW World video player just to take a screencap surely means something.

Keep on kicking ass, BC. And wrestlbr, keep bringing us those gifs. You know we love your work.
