Writing Evil Characters (that are *human*)

1. Give them a motivation 

If the character is just going around killing people for fun (although there are sadistics who are like this in real life), it's hard to make them memorable, especially if they're one of the main characters. Give them motivations; why are they doing what they're doing? What made them this way? If something previous or present in their life changed, would they still act the way they do? It's helpful to include a tragic backstory.

2. Make them human!

The character might do things that aren't considered human, however you still need to give them human characteristics. What positive things are there about them, if any? (They're good at cooking, have great attention to detail, etc.) Do they like what they're doing (or how their personality is)? Would they want to change themselves? Mostly, give them vulnerabilities. Everyone has vulnerabilities even though you might not know yours yet. The character might be terrified of anyone with their hair in braids because of their childhood, or you could give them a simple fear like they're scared of spiders. It's more effective to have a reasoning behind their vulnerability and fear. That way, the reader understands their actions better and can better connect to them as a person.

3. Don't make them easily defeated.

Most writers want the main character to be able to defeat the evil character. But don't make it predictable or obvious they're going to win; maybe they land the MC in the hospital, badly injured, or maybe the main character thinks they defeated them but suddenly their backup appears. Also, when the evil character makes a mistake that benefits the MC, make it believable. I can't think of any examples for this but I hope you get the idea.

Overall, if the evil character gets defeated, you want the reader to think, "He deserved it, but I wish he would've been able to relive a good life where he's not driven by his childhood."

Top 10 Favorite Female Characters!!

Hey everyone!! I was tagged by the always lovely @ellasnotebook to do a top 10 favorite female characters tag :) it’s sort of self explanatory with the title, so here we go!!

1. Ellen Ripley (The Alien Franchise) - So this series has been with me since I was a youngun and my father showed it to me when I was around ten or eleven. From there, Ripley’s combination of intelligence and pure badassery definitely makes her my favorite all time woman character of all time, played by my all-time woman, Sigourney Weaver

2. Princess Leia (Star Wars) - Ok, you’re probably already noticing a trend, yes I like 70s-90s women in movies, sue me. I feel like Leia almost doesn’t need an introduction. She carries herself like a queen, speaks like one, acts like one, and I would totally let her punch me in the face.

3. Sarah Connor (The Terminator Franchise) - LAST ONE I SWEAR, Sarah is sort of this militant force but is also a mother and loves her son/leader of the rebellion. She takes nobody’s shit and even breaks herself out of an asylum in my all time favorite movie, Terminator 2: Judgement Day.

4. Luna Lovegood (Harry Potter) - Not only is she a smart Ravenclaw, but she made me, and the rest of the world, fall in love with being weird. She wasn’t afraid to do what she wanted and say what she thought, and that was powerful for me as a kid just like it’s powerful for me today.

5. Weiss Schnee (RWBY) - I have a feeling a lot of you don’t watch RWBY (first of all, why??), but Weiss definitely deserves to be on this list. She may be heiress to a fortune, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t incredibly intelligent, caring, and powerful. Also she’s my wife, so.

6. Alphys (Undertale) - MY MAIN GAL AAAGH I just love her so much!! No one shall touch my dinosaur babe, she’s probably one of the most relatable characters ever

7. Pidge Holt (Voltron: Legendary Defender) - I can’t believe after only a couple months Pidge is making this list, but I feel like now that I’m ENTRENCHED in the fandom, I’m able to assert my right and put her on here. If any of you wonder what I’m like in real life, I’m the exact same as Pidge. No, I swear. Ask anyone.

8. Zelda/Shiek (The Legend of Zelda) - This is gonna seem super weird but I actually really like these gals...a lot?? Especially Sheik, I’ve always thought she was sooooo cool, like that was the ideal badassery I wished to achieve some day.

9. Mallory Archer (Archer) - If you guys haven’t watched this show, you have to, first of all. Second of all, Mallory is definitely who I want to be when I’m older, cool and yelling at my kids to do my dirty work for me. Those’ll be the days.

10. Storm (X-Men) - Now that we’re on the topic of childhood heroes, I definitely have to put Storm on this list. One, she can control the weather, which is basically instantly the coolest power ever. Also, she has this quiet sense of authority that I find really interesting.

Summary: Ethan and Tyler recording a video together with LOTS of fluff and cute Tythan No POV "Tylerrr, " Ethan whined as his boyfriend carried him to the couch "What? I thought you liked cuddles." Tyler said confused at the smaller man's protests "I do," Ethan huffed "but I have to record" Tyler sighed. He missed his boyfriend, Ethan had been working alot lately and they hardly got any time together anymore. Besides, Ethan was getting stressed and needed to take a break for everyone's good. If Tyler didn't step it earlier at the office Mark would have had 2 black eyes. "Why don't I record with you? Like a challenge video or something?" Tyler suggested "Tyler, my fans don't know about us." "I know, we can do a roommate tag or something. They won't know anything! Please Ethan, I miss you." Tyler begged Normally Ethan would put up a fight but recently he hadn't been spending much time with Tyler and he did feel bad. He also missed Tyler. Ethan looked Tyler in the eyes and instantly regretted it, Tyler had no his strongest puppy dog eyes and Ethan was powerless. Ethan agreed, it could be alot of fun! Right? ~~~ TIME SKIP ~~~ "WHAT IS UP MY CRAZY BOIS!" Tyler yelled the second Ethan hit record "NOooo000ooOo00oooo" Ethan cried before exploding with laughter After Ethan regained his composure he began "what is up my cranky crew! It's Ethan from crankgameplays and today, I am here with my amazing boy- roommate!!! Shit!" Tyler and Ethan both started to laugh at what was almost said. They tried recording the opening again. Then again. After 26 trys they finally managed an opening that didn't out them. "FINALLY! Okay, so we're going to be doing a roommate tag! It's like a whose more likely to thing!" Ethan exsplaned happily "Okay first question, whose more likely to steal the others clothing?" As soon as Tyler finished reading they both pointed to Ethan "I can't help it! They smell like you and I miss you when you go out and, we should really do that..." Ethan said realising what he had just said This happend with almost every question asked. From saying Ethan's bed was only good to sleep in if Ethan was also there, to Ethan saying they broke there coffee table one time when Tyler kissed him so hard he fell over. "Okay, welp, we're done. Goodbye guys!" Ethan ended after they finally got enough non outing footage to make a decent video. Ethan looked up at his boyfriend who had a smug smile on his face. "This is gonna be a bitch to edit" Ethan said giving a fake pout Tyler smiled and pulled the younger man into his lap "awww, I'm sorry, do you forgive me?" " I think you're gonna have to make it up to me," Ethan smiled evily "why don't we go out to eat?" "I assume I'm paying and you want to go somewhere nice, and expensive?" Tyler asked already knowing the answer "Yep!" Ethan giggled before running off and having his boyfriend chase him. It may be a pain to edit, but it was worth it to spend time with his amazing boyfriend. END This is a little shorter than I wanted it to be but I couldn't really think of what else to add. @writingevil just wanted to say thank you for the kind words :) I know there's plenty of videos that can be improved upon, and I'm not an amazing daily contributor like some captioners are, but I hope that at the end of the day you're getting the same content those who listen get due to good subtitles! Whether that be from some stuff I've put it in or not. That's all that's important to me in this, and it's why I've been working harder.

Not even have to be a moral thing.

Like they may have anxiety from their first evil mission where they killed someon they shouldn’t have and it almost compromised everything. Or it would have been easier if they left someone alive.

Leads to a philosophy: “people are generally more useful alive than dead.”

Tom and Jerry fo shizzle I used to love that show so much but its all cgi now and I’m like bleh 2) What helps you when you’re stressed out?
