It's interesting how in the SKAM universe whenever there is a sapphic season the main character (Anais, Maya, Fatou) have the worst friend group ever. In DRUCK s6 cash queens where the worst, in SKAM FRANCE they were ew too and now it's happening again with Anais. in WTFOCK.

Saw @calliettes-posts asking about Ada's season and thought I would do a run down on why Ada's season went the way it went because history matters:

Long explanation but you need to know the history of the show post s4 to understand the dynamics of Ada's season. During s4 wtfock GOTS8's themselves and the show imploded and they lost an insane amount of fans. Which really sucks because when Nora(Yasmina's) season aired the audience was very resentful and it showed in s5 numbers then the show ended and the fans were honestly glad because how much they had soured on the show.

In the middle of this drama, sputnik who produces the show had a whole bunch of leadership changes and a partnership with go play began and wtfock became way more corporate. Wtfock is sputnik's cashcow so s4 & s5 were also plagued with hard sponsorship pushing that really pissed off the fans too. The authencity of the show was starting to get muddled.

So once s5 ended everyone was like "good riddance". Also during s4 & s5 the show had leaks all over. Staff leaking shit, actors visibly frustrated with the writing and also some big fandom artist leaked that the show used some of their work and didnt pay them or didnt know the context they were making the work in. It was just not good vibes. So the OG gen ends. Well, my two cents is that sputnik produced more new shows that didnt do as well aka (Nora's football show) and they needed money. Wtfock even when it does poorly it makes sputnik alot of money but they knew all the bad vibes associations with the show so they kinda let sleeping dogs lie and didnt give anyone a hint of a new gen happening even during the production of S6 no one called it "wtfock" just Ada.

Then s6 gets announced and even Veerle is promoting the new cast and basically saying its a new slate. Not to hold this gen accountable for all the shit that went down in the last gen. S6 starts airing and to TBF all the cast just didnt have a rhythm yet the acting wasnt the best and the story was a bit dull. Also skam/love triangle is one of the most hated tropes in the fandom. Also s6 was a play on s1 except Ada is the Jens character versus her being the Noah character. Which bad decision because it was hard to root for her. So the season was sorta of a bleep on the radar nothing special and forgotten as soon as it ended. It also didnt draw that many old fans back and didnt seem to pick up as many new fans either. The promotion was okay for the show but i did notice there was alot of emphasis on giving this cast a chance and alot of people just didn't care to newgen with a remake that burned them so hard. So yea...... thats kinda of the history. Btw Wtfock has gone all in marketing this season and brought commercials which has never happened before. So i think they are just playing with a new strategy and also beforehand actors weren't allowed to talk about the show(aside from Nora after the terrible s4 season) but they are now.

objectively, skam nl, it was the BEST remake and i liked both their s1/2 more than og. the styleeee the charactersss the musiccc the romancesss it had everythinggggg 😭

subjectively, skam france, i wasted so much of my life on that show but god what bliss.... it did however have a cost (my sanity. i am this way because i was a hardcore skamfr fan. i think living through skamfr s6 live is my villain origin story fr)

druck: amazing and great until season six. recommended seasons: s3, s5 and s6. nora’s season is everything. fatou and kieu my my beloveds. ava deserved so much better. i would’ve written a better season for you isi. fuck season eight

skam france: garbage can from the beginning. still going for some fucking reason. the wlws were spit the face and thrown out like trash. the horrible bully got a fucking redemption arc. it does build character to watch this remake. watch at your own discretion

wtfock: wtfockdown and yasmina/younes are possibly the only good things to come out of this one. season five is a big fuck you to muslim people and people of color. fuck this remake. i’d watch it for yasmina and younes all over again

skam austin: the remake that had potential but they didn’t allowed it to flourish. only two seasons

skam nl: same as austin

skam españa: amazing and great. then sana’s season happened. because every sana season is cursed to be subpar. wonder why

skam italia: whitewashed sana??? don’t even bother

Anon, no offense, but you're mistaken. I've been here for a while, and I know how it works. You're actually the one who hasn't been caught up to speed yet. "Otis" is not a Season 8. It's a separate show, a spin-off. It was announced months ago, in January. They announced the release date in a newspaper, it's going to be May 15th. From the wording, it seems like they're going to release full episodes on Wednesdays, no clips. On GoPlay, "Otis" is listed as a separate show, not a season. They closed the group chat they used for S6-7 texts too. They also aged up the characters a year, and based on the casting information, it looks like they're making them graduate, therefore it's the last we hear of wtFOCK. No clue why they decided to go with a spin-off and drop the SKAM format, I heard there were some issues with NRK, but I really didn't get into it. Hope it helps!

Those girls from the Sobbe parallel you reblogged are Anaïs and Bobbie. They're from the second generation of Wtfock. Wtfock went on to have more seasons. Ada S6, Anaïs S7, Otis S8. Personality wise, Bobbie is similar to Sander, but instead of an artist she's a musician, and Anaïs is similar to Zoe.

haven't caught up with the second gen of WTFock at all so thank you so much for the explanation dear anon! i've lost track of the newer Skamverse updates some time ago and i lowkey stuck to remakes of the original seasons, but what you're saying along with that pretty gifset made me curious enough to check these out! gonna start from Anaïs and Bobbie then if i vibe with this gen i'll give a try to the rest.

Good for them that the new wtfock season is doing fine. So it’s just the fandom at tumblr that pretty much died. However, not the fault of Ada’s season. This was already happening during Kato & Yasmina’s seasons

I mean this season is doing great. I heard the production house is even playing trailers for this season in movie theaters which is crazy. The numbers for this season are doing very well but wtfock has alot of ground to gain back after the s4 debacle they have just never been able to get back there and between end of s5 and beginning of s6 they lost alot of people on insta too and their tiktok presences is okay but nothing insane.
