WWE NXT Takeover: Toronto II Predictions
We are headed back to Toronto for Summerslam weekend this year, which means that Takeover will be hosted from the same city. It is certainly an interesting card this time around, with every championship in NXT proper being defended, in addition to a non-title women’s match, which is nice. All of the matches look really good, so let’s just hop right into the list.
The first match on the list is Candice LaRae vs. Io Sharai. During Sharai’s pursuit of the NXT Women’s championship, her and LaRae were best of friends. Sharai had a championship match at Takeover XXV, where Shayna Baszler’s lackey’s tried to get involved, but LaRae beat them down with a kendo stick. Still, Sharai tapped out to the kirifuda clutch, and lost. But after the match, she beat down Baszler and earned herself a rematch. That rematch was inside of a steel cage, and the two beat the hell out of each other. This time, Sharai looked like she was about to escape, when Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke came out again to cost her the match. LaRae ran out to support her friend, and helped to beat down the women. In the finish, Sharai was locked in the Kirifuda clutch right in the door frame of the cage as she tried to escape. To get out of the hold, she bashed Baszler’s head with the cage door, causing Baszler to fall out of the cage unconscious, but still winning the match. Afterwards, Sharai brutalized LaRae and blamed her for the loss. Since then, the two have brawled a couple of times, prompting Regal to make the match for Takeover. This is a bit of a tough one to predict, because LaRae is probably next in line for a title shot, but Sharai has had a recent heel turn. Both women need the win, but I would say that LaRae needs it more. It will propel her into the Women’s championship scene, and she can finally be the one to take the belt from Baszler. I doubt this will be the last time these two fight, and it is very possible that Sharai actually takes the women’s championship from LaRae, but right now, the babyface needs it more. This is LaRae’s Takeover debut, at least in a match, and it is the biggest stage that she has ever been on, so I think she will deliver in a big way. Sharai is great and has proved as such, so she is the perfect opponent for a debuting star. I’m excited for this match a lot, a sleeper great match for this card.
Then, in the first of the championship matches, we have the Street Profits vs. The Undisputed Era for the NXT Tag Team Championships. This is a pretty simple story. The Street Profits won the titles in a ladder match at Takeover XXV, and have proceeded to beat each of the other teams in that match since then. They beat Lorcan and Burch, and then the Forgotten Sons. Fish and O’Reilly are the last team on their list, but they are also probably the best tag team in NXT history. I found this one a bit tough too, considering that the Street Profits have been appearing on Raw lately, but something about their NXT promo makes me think that they are going to retain. The two are really good together, but they haven’t had a breakout tag match yet. They were awesome in the ladder match, but in that sort of environment, big spots are given more attention. So in a straight tag match, they can show all of their talent and establish themselves as good champions and a great team. Of course, we could also end up with the Undisputed Era with the championships, so that the team holds all the gold at the end of the night, but considering how common that is in WWE right now, I think they will hold off on that for a bit. I think the Street Profits will win in a match that will be very good, but maybe just shy of great.
Then we have a triple threat match for the NXT North American Championship: Velveteen Dream vs. Pete Dunne vs. Roderick Strong. This match was originally just going to be Dream vs. Strong, because Strong pinned Dream in a 6-man tag a few weeks ago. So he had a claim to the title, but Dunne made a shock return to NXT proper, and inserted himself directly into the title picture by virtue of his very long title reign as the WWE UK Champion. He also has a noted history with Roderick Strong, as the two were tag team partners for a couple months before Roddy betrayed him last year to join the Undisputed Era. So we had a triple threat on our hands. I don’t think that Dunne is going to win here, but I do think it is a toss up between Strong and Dream. The only reason I’m picking Dream to retain is that I doubt another stable will hold all the gold in WWE. But if there is any match that I’m going to be wrong about, it will most likely be this one. I think Dream will retain here, but then go on to lose the title to Cameron Grimes after he wins the breakout tournament. But I could definitely see Roddy winning too. This is a match that makes my mouth water, and I’m really excited to see three of the best talents in NXT square off.
Next up is Shayna Baszler defending the NXT Women’s championship against Mia Yim. The two have had a very violent and personal rivalry, starting in a match where the two beat the hell out of each other for a short period. When Yim was granted this title shot, Baszler, Shafir and Duke all beat her down in the ring and left her laying, calling her gutter trash as they did. In response, Yim channeled her street smarts and put both Shafir and Duke on the shelf with attacks in the parking lot and locker room respectively, saying that now the field is even. Baszler insists that Yim doesn’t deserve a title shot and is not good enough to be on the gold brand, while Yim says that Baszler can’t win without her friends and can’t deal with an opponent who fights dirty. This is an easy pick, Baszler is going to retain. Yim just doesn’t have the star power to take it right now. She is a placeholder. Still, should be an interesting match.
And in the main event, we have Johnny Gargano vs. Adam Cole three, for the NXT Championship, three stages of hell. It isn’t being billed as that, but it is a much cooler name for when the stipulation changes. This all started back at Takeover New York. The title was vacant, and Gargano was the most recent #1 contender, so he was guaranteed a spot. Cole won a fatal 5-way to be the other competitor, and it was a 2 out of 3 falls match to ensure a decisive winner. Cole won the first fall, but Gargano came back and won the match. Cole said that he would have won in any other match, so he was given a rematch in a straight singles match, and sure enough, he won. So now, Cole has been rubbing his championship in Gargano’s face. He paraded around with the title, going to his wrestling school and telling students to give up, and even showing up at his parent’s restaurant and pinning his picture on the wall. The two brawled several times, so Regal made the match official. He also added the 2 out of 3 falls stipulation, but with a twist. Gargano picks the stip for the first fall, Cole for the second, and regal picks for the third if it comes to that. Gargano picked a street fight, as he has been tapping into a darker side for about a year now, and he wants to embrace that here. Cole picked a straight singles match, as he said that he does not need anything special to win. Regal hasn’t revealed the third stipulation, which adds some intrigue into an otherwise predictable stipulation. And I know I’m picking every champion to retain here, but I really don’t think there is any point in putting the belt back on Gargano. He is better chasing, and he already had a fairytale moment. Cole is a great villain right now, and he should have the belt for a while. For it to mean anything, Gargano is going to need to beat a new foe for the NXT Championship, maybe even Tommaso Ciampa when he returns. Cole should have a nice run, because if he loses it now, then it will be way too much hot potatoing for my liking. The last two matches have been great, although I question the A+ I gave the second match in hindsight, and I have high hopes for this match. They killed it twice before, make it a hatrick.
So, those are my predictions. No title changes I don’t think, but anyone in the Undisputed Era can concievably win their match. It’s a toughy for a lot of them, which makes the pay per view that much more exciting. I can’t wait for tomorrow night.

NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV Predictions
NXT is currently a great place to be a heel right now, and I predict it's probably gonna stay that way for the most part. Not really that exciting of a card for me.
Singles Match - Velveteen Dream vs. EC3 Prediction: Velveteen Dream
Velveteen Dream is in a weird place. Ever since the feud with Aleister Black, which was really good, I feel like he's just been sort of floating near the top but never able to break through. I think EC3 is a fun character, and I think they can pull this off that he looks good in defeat. I want Velveteen Dream to get some real title opportunities.
UK Championship - Pete Dunne [C] vs. Zack Gibson Prediction: Pete Dunne
I don't know who Zack Gibson is.
NA Championship - Adam Cole [C] vs. Ricochet Prediction: Adam Cole
Tag Team Championship - Undisputed Era [C] vs. Moustache Mountain Prediction: Undisputed Era
I'm going to be honest, I think Undisputed Era as a unit is super boring. It's just a bunch of bland nobodies hanging out together, trying to make their names famous. I want to see them lose the gold, but honestly I don't know where they go from there. Adam Cole could probably do fine solo, but I feel like the rest of them would be dead on arrival on Raw or Smackdown.
That being said, I think they should lose all the belts simultaneously, but I don't think Ricochet + Moustache Mountain is the combo to do it. However, Velveteen Dream + War Raiders...
Women's Championship - Shayna Baszler [C] vs. Kairi Sane Prediction: Kairi Sane
I think she can do it. It has to be Kairi.
Men's Championship - Tommaso Ciampa [C] vs. some idiot Prediction: Tommaso Ciampa
Johnny Gargano is an entitled, selfish, hotshot loser who thinks everything is about him. But what has he really even done to deserve any title shot he's been given?
He showed up after NXT TakeOver: Chicago all doe-eyed, claiming to be Mr. Wrestling, and he beat Riddick Moss and Tino Sabbatelli, two people who everyone beats. But then at Brooklyn III, he lost to Andrade 'Cien' Almas. And after that? He lost to Almas again. He didn't even make it on the main card for WarGames, although he was gifted a title shot against Pete Dunne, which he lost. And yet, he was rewarded again, with an opportunity to compete in the #1 contender's tournament. He had a sour victory over Ohno, and then took advantage of an interference to win an NXT title shot against Almas at Philadelphia. Spoilers: He lost. But still, he demanded more opportunities. He didn't just lose a match this time; no, he lost his job. But it was still all about him. He was gifted the main event of New Orleans, despite not even working for NXT. One victory later, he thinks he deserves a title shot. And when the poor thing doesn't get what he wants, he goes on a rampage, putting his family, his career, his life at risk. He lost at Chicago II, he cost Aleister Black the title, but yet still thinks he deserves a title shot.
Here are the facts: • Johnny Gargano is entitled, being gifted opportunities over other superstars who honestly deserve it more. • Johnny Gargano is selfish, making the title reigns of Almas, Black, and Ciampa all about his little fairy tale. • Johnny Gargano is a hotshot, thinking he's better than everyone else and the definition of wrestling. • But above all else, Johnny Gargano is a loser.
Tommaso Ciampa was always right. He never gave up on the NXT Universe like they gave up on him. In fact, he made them his theme song.
For Ciampa, this is his moment, not anyone else's. He shouldn't have to be a bit player in anyone else's fantasy.
Oh, and bonus prediction: Of course it was Gargano who attacked Aleister Black in the parking lot.

NXT UK Takeover: Cardiff Predictions
Ah NXT UK, an often overlooked part of the WWE Network. It took a while to hit its groove, but it’s now a pretty consistent good show. This is a pretty big show, but it seems like it is being overshadowed by All Out and Royal Quest. But I think that it’ll still be good, even great! Here my predictions for NXT UK Takeover: Cardiff.
Noam Dar vs. Travis Banks: this was sorta a match to get two deserving stars on the show. The feud was short and sweet. Dar felt he was entitled to a match at takeover, while Banks was pissed that he takes for granted what Banks himself lost at Takeover Blackpool. Dar then taunted Banks about it, and Sid Scala booked the match. I think that Dar wins this, because he is kinda on a roll, and this isn’t the time to stop him. Should be a really good to great match, I’m definitely looking forward to it.
Dave Mastiff vs. Joe Coffey in a Last Man Standing Match: Now this is a feud. Two big guys that just couldn’t settle their differences, so now they have to have a violent match where one man won’t be able to walk away on his own. I don’t really remember when this all started, but I know that Mastiff teamed with the Hunt against all of Gallus in a 6 man tag, with Gallus getting the win. Mastiff and Coffey then had a brutal match where they both really layed into each other, only for it to end in a double countout. The match was made Last Man Standing after that. I think Mastiff will win, because it seems like he is important enough to get the win here. He should win this, and then maybe get a match against Walter soon. This hoss fight will be violent and awesome, I’m think it’ll be quite fun.
Gallus vs. Grizzled Young Veterans vs. The South Wales Subculture for the NXT UK Tag Team Championships: Just to be clear who is in this match, it is Mark Coffey and Wolfgang vs. James Drake and Zack Gibson vs. Flash Morgan Webster and Mark Andrews. This started with The Grizzled Young Vets complaining about having no real competition, and Gallus challenged them. However, after that, Andrews and Webster showed up and said that the only reason they aren’t being considered for this match was some unfortunate injuries. Andrews and Webster then had to beat each member of the Gallus team in singles matches to qualify, and they did. This is actually a match I’m looking forward to. I love Gibson, Drake, Webster and Andrews, and while I’m not a huge Gallus guy, I think they will have their place. I’m really into tag matches, and there is a lot of great talent here. I don’t think that the vets will lose though. The deck was stacked against them to give them something to complain about and for them to be given a genuine challenge. They will win here, but I could see the Subculture taking it from them later. I think this’ll be pretty good.
Kay Lee Ray vs. Toni Storm for the NXT UK Women’s Championship: once again, started out with a simple #1 contendership situation. Kay Lee Ray won a Women’s battle royal for a championship match, and asked for it at Takeover. Later, they revealed the history between Storm and Ray, where they used to be friends, but Ray has been corrupted since coming to NXT UK. Meanwhile, Ray used this knowledge of Storm to absolutely murder her on the mic, going as far as saying that it was Storm’s is such an awful person that her dad left her as a kid. So Ray is living rent free in Storm’s head. This should be a great match. Storm is awesome, and Ray looks pretty good from what I’ve seen too. I think that Storm will retain, but Ray is probably the gal to take it from her. We just need some babyface wins here and there.
Tyler Bate vs. Walter for the WWE UK Championship: David vs. Goliath. This is like Hogan and Andre, except with two incredible in ring competitors beyond charisma. This all started during Pete Dunne and Walter’s rematch for the title. Dunne looked like he was going to win, when Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner ran in to Walter’s aid. The three then formed Imperium, and started to feud with British Strong Style: Bate, Dunne, and Trent Seven. They had a 6 man tag against each other, but Alexander Wolfe ran in to join Imperium and win them the match. Since then, Imperium has ruled NXT UK and decimated all three members of British Strong Style. Dunne basically disappeared for a few months, eventually resurfacing in NXT proper. Walter powerbombed Bate on the apron to put him out of action for a few weeks, and forced Seven to watch. Walter then destroyed Seven in a one on one match, powerbombing him until the ref stopped the match. Later on, Walter asked Sid Scala and Johnny Saint who would step up for a match at Takeover, when Bate returned like a knight in shining armor. Seven returned a bit later, so Bate has some support in the match. This is a phenomenal story, to the point where I’m totally marking out and rooting for Bate despite my love for Walter, and I’m excited to see the match. This is what I’m most looking forward to, and I think it’ll be great. However, I doubt that Walter loses this. I think that they are building it all up so that Walter can smash everyone’s hopes to the ground. That is what Imperium is, so they need to do it. It’ll be deflating, depressing, hopeless, and will get the exact reaction that they are looking for.

NXT Takeover Brooklyn III Predictions
Much shorter than the Summerslam ones. Also, shoutout to Southpaw Regional Wrestling Season 2 and WWE2k18, I can't wait to see gameplay Aleister Black v. Hideo Itami- this is tough. Itami is a returning superstar, and a huge one at that. Black is a new, up and coming superstar. Both need something to get them big, and I think Black is going to have that privilege. It'll be close, but he will take it Johnny Gargano v. Andrade "Cien" Almas- also tough. I have a plan for this match, and sadly it involves Almas winning. But, this victory will be due to Tammaso Ciampa's interference. This way, Almas rides a win and the Gargano/Ciampa feud is furthered SAnitY v. Authors of Pain (champs) for the NXT Tag Team Championships- this is gonna be a slow match, probably worst of the match. 4 big clunky guys in the ring is gonna spell doom, but there may be a good spot thrown in. Anyways, it would be insane if SAnitY did win the titles, but I don't think that'll happen, at least not tonight. I do see it in their future though Ember Moon v. Asuka (champ) for the NXT Women's Championship- speaking of title changes. Takeover Brooklyn is NXT's Wrestlemania, so big things are bound to happen. I reckon that big thing is going to be Ember Moon ending Asuka's winning streak. Maybe this will lead to her being put on the main roster, but what it will do for Ember Moon would be immeasurable Drew Mcintrye v. Bobby Roode for the NXT Championship- Drew being in NXT is something no one saw coming and I think it speaks volumes about WWE's relations with superstars who left the company. Also this time, I think he will be treated better with an NXT title run. Just not yet. Drew falls in the same boat as SAnitY, I want them to hold gold, just give them some time first That's NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III. The tagline should be Probably Better Than Summerslam. Just saying
