My favorite thing about the Thin men in XCOM is how in this one concept art it looks like they look like they could absolutely kill it on the dance floor. Like yes king, work it!

You ever just crank out three OC refs in two weeks because the hyperfocus is so strong
Granted I have five XCOM OCs at this point but one of them dies with just the standard in-game design and more importantly these are the three I'm hoping to get ArtFight attacks for lmao
So! Bond, I've drawn her a lot. Cargo, not as much, but I've finally gotten the hang of her combat uniform so that helps. Less so her X2 design which is barely different from the in-game Warden Armor but eh fight me
Echi is, as you can see, very different from the canon Berserker. The idea for Echidna is that she was captured during EU/EW, by Cargo, back when Berserkers weren't sent out into combat naked. Moreover, Echi is the first of the alien captives to choose to trust and aid humans, and is the whole reason Cargo escapes HQ with her life; and drags Bond, along with those two other OCs, out with her. So once X2 rolls around Echi gets unique armour taking reference from the Warden Armor, the original EU/EW Berserker armour, and a bit of the Elite Muton armour. Her scarring comes from while she was still on the invaders' side.
Also by the time X2 rolls around, Cargo and Echi are married

One of the best things about Victor is the fact he's so... versatile in terms of design. I mean, take xcom as his main habitat - and he's a perfect (not so) little Thin Man. Take that bad boy and yeet it in any other AU or even original universe - and hey, he's totally at home in there too. Ah, the perks of being a snakelike humanoid creature.
(What the hell do I call his species outside of xcom though... an alien? A hybrid?? Who are you, my son???)
#victor lesnoy#matriarch speaks#*gnawing at the bars of my enclosure*#I mean “alien” describes him perfectly but at the same time... it lacks something?#also I need to make him more snakelike ohhh I need to give him more funky features so bad#for instance - make his mouth wider#also might do something with his eyes#I quite like the look the original Thin Men had in EU in that regard#roommate!au

We all know Milo on the right. Now the newcomer is Zuke, on the left. He makes his appearance in “Missing Link”. He’s very tired, physically, mentally, and from being on the run for who knows how long. But somehow still manages to keep his cool even in the face of potential death. And yes, he would would have spat venom at the group if Leo shot him. Leo would have missed anyway.
He does find freedom better than being another pawn of the Elders’ being a born Thin Man clone of sorts and not a Viper convert(has less baggage). Formerly worked in the “Outreach Program” and started growing tired of it with his branch having more kills than converts due to some legal and illegal settlements being extremely stubborn.
Undecided where he will end up but shall make an appearance at some point in the fics. Just realized I’m gonna have fun juggling two versions of several characters regarding “Hollowed Defiance” and “Find Your Light”.

SURPRISE! I AM NOW IN THE XCOM FANDOM
so far I've only played Enemy Unknown/Within, haven't got XCOM2 or Chimera Squad yet. But I do know that the aliens eventually start becoming allies to humans and tripped and now I have a Thin Man OC. she's very Gender
Having the alien designed for infiltration be the seventh of many subjects Strike One brought in meant the captor couldn't resist asking Dr. Vahlen to nickname her "Bond". Bond stuck with it after she turned to the humans' side, figuring it was as good a name as any, and slowly worked her way out of the "do what you're told and never deviate from the Elders' desires ever" mindset she had been living with. Once the wars are over she gets into Hollywood.
There's a more detailed version of the backstory I have for her but it requires explaining other OCs I have already lol I'll do that some other time. probably on main. I'll find out how well I understood what I read of XCOM2/CS when I get those games on sale
but the more rumpled-but-still-basically-standard Thin Man is her in XCOM EW/EM era after her capture, she doesn't get changed back into a Viper for XCOM2 since she's already gone to the humans' side by then, and her losing the suit entirely for a more casual one is once she's retired from military service and integrated into human society and the film industry.

I’ve never played Xcom: Enemy Unknown but I have seen some of the characters/Enemies from it
And I’m sitting here like “the speaker?? Isn’t he a Thin Man?” (Yknow, the guy who opens up XCOM 2 at the podium? Him)
He’s got the glasses! And the weird Neck marks!!
I’m certain others have noticed, I just haven’t seen it pointed out

🌈 Victor :3
Places! As a young noodle/thin man Victor often dreamed of different times and places: giant forests, vast meadows, old ruins, beautiful architecture, volcanoes, beaches - the list goes on and on. What do all these dreams have in common? He's alone in all of them.
Not in a bad way, mind you! Unlike his nightmares, he doesn't feel alone in these dreams. Instead, the most prominent emotion he feels is curiosity and excitement, anticipation, even. He can go wherever he wants, explore to his heart's content and, well, generally be free! For someone who spent most of his childhood in an incubator, then - in a pod and then on the battlefield (later - in xcom cage) having so much freedom was, perhaps, the most comforting thing about having these dreams.

When Drag Queens Were King
With the conflicts about LGBTQIA+, it is fascinating to look back at the history of gays in American history. Once, not only accepted but widely celebrated, drag was a prominent face in the entertainment industry.
During the Shakespearean period, in the late 16th century and early 17th century, women were not permitted to perform on the stage. Men played the female roles. While this wasn’t exactly “drag”, it’s possible gay men took advantage of the opportunity to express their feminine sides.
Originally, drag was not only applied to men performing while dressed as women but, any performer dressed in costumes other than their own gender. In fact, the first recorded drag contest and “ball” in America took place in 1867! Men and women performed in Harlem, New York. There were drag queens and drag kings. Notable during the 1880’s and 1890’s was William Dorsey Swann. Known as the Queen of Drag, Dorsey was more than just a drag queen. An African American, born into slavery, was known for holding secret drag balls. The “Queen of Drag”, Swann, is believed to be the first person in the United States to lead a gay resistance. He held secret drag balls in Washington, DC. One part of the drag balls included a competition known as a “cakewalk”, originally held on plantations by slaves. Couples would dance in precise steps and formation. It is believed to have been a way to subtly make fun of the formal white dances pre and post emancipation. As dance contests, the winners were awarded with cakes!

The Jazz Age (from 1920 - early 1930’s) in large cities like New York, Chicago, and San Francisco saw the popularity of drag performers rise. Minstrel shows, vaudeville, and burlesque provided drag entertainment. Unlike many drag performers, Jean (Gene) Malin was not trying to impersonate a woman. During Prohibition, the days of the “pansy craze”, Malin was openly gay and proud of it. Described as flamboyant and effeminate, he entertained audiences with a wonderful sense of humor. At six feet tall and two hundred pounds, Malin had a lisp that delighted his fans. He was capable of defending himself when needed. He performed in high end nightclubs and was featured in films and on Broadway.

In 1920 Drag Balls and contests were so popular they were even represented in film. Men were referred to as “pansies” or “sissies” and were often portrayed as clothing designers or tailors, hairdressers, or choreographers and dancers. Flamboyant and effeminate, they added humor to films. Women were portrayed as more masculine and dressed in male fashions.
There were actors and actresses who were known to be homosexual, if not to the general public, usually within their professional circles. In 1930’s, Marlene Dietrich, who made no secret of her bisexuality, had the first passionate same sex kiss in a film. However, that wasn’t the first same sex kiss in film. In 1922, Cecil B. DeMille directed a silent movie l, “Manslaughter”, that included an orgy. Although the first same sex kiss has been attributed to the later film, “Wings” in 1927, it was the earlier silent movie that broke the mold.

Drag has once again become popular in America with shows like RuPaul’s Drag Race. On the other hand, the country is in turmoil. The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, Asexual+ (LGBTQIA+) community is already beginning to feel the change in the air, from the White House to every house, apartment, mobile home, hotel, or tent. The president has already signed several executive orders that will negatively impact LGBTQIA+ communities across the country. We can’t allow America to return to days of the Hays Code. We’ve too far to allow it to slip away.
