Personally, I headcanon that they can do parthenogenesis. That, and/or by the time of Chimera Squad, there are more (non-genetically engineered) males around, since we clearly see multiple things pointing toward there being Viper children around - an egg incubator in one of the map tiles, at least a few pieces of artwork that seem to depict or be drawn by baby Vipers.

Still wild to me that all the Vipers in Xcom are trans girls. The game goes out of its way to make them all women, and also says that they’re the true form of the “thin men” from the first game, which was a disguise. They were literally boymoding. This is the only representation I care about, giant snakes with boobs that bondage you to death and spit in your mouth

I feel like the existence of the skirmishers (and everything from Chimera Squad) make XCOM come across as massive pricks wrt the aliens. Like the game goes out of its way to dehumanize the aliens (exclusively referring to them as it, saying their all brainwashed and mind controlled, etc) but then turn around and have ex-Advent be people who were at least aware during their time as drones, vipers and sectoids and mutons being obviously sentient and having their own culture, hell, the Ethereals are clearly people too. And then Chimera Squad shows us a future where they're actually treated as such and nobody makes as big a deal about it as I think they should.

How much of his combat training does Victor remember? (ie; how "accurately" would you say he's able to match the skills of the in-game Crit Men? And would he be able to defend the radio shack, if ADVENT came knocking, or would both he and Jake have to squish themselves under the desk together until help arrived lol)

It's... an interesting topic, actually. See here, he was, of course, trained like any other Thin Mint prior to Enemy Unknown. So, despite being absolutely terrified and, let's admit it, pretty quickly captured, he still poses a certain level of danger - inhuman strength, agility and poison/acid, if nothing else.

Now, his time in captivity, and following years as a Speaker certainly did a number on his battle skills. Why bother keeping up with rifle training, when you literally have ADVENT bodyguards, after all? Not to mention, being always so furiously protected also made him... if not paranoid, then more anxious than before, for sure. No wonder he prefers to hide instead of confronting the attackers now, lmao.

So naturally, one would assume these two dumbasses would have to pretty much find a cozy safe nook and pray XCOM or whoever is defending the Camp at the time makes it in time.

Victor might be a scaredy-cat, but anger at someone trying to harm his damn human overrides all fear somehow.

If Jake wasn't scared shitless for his life at the moment, he would certainly fall in love all over again - how could he not, when his alien twink suddenly finds his menacing hiss and renders at least two of those ADVENT bastards unable to fight by spitting poison at them? So, yes, he won't be able to singlehandedly defend the shack, but he is more than capable to stall the attackers and potentially mutilate some of them - as a treat for the actual security forces/XCOM, you know?
