Bird AU!

In Here, Star Command is a bird rescue center, and Nebula is a veteran who became a rescuer after his retirement, aiming to take in and care for various injured omnivorous birds.

Of course, half of the reason behind this is that he has a certain aura about him that attracts birds.（LOL

Also, last time someone asked me to draw a bird! NOS-4A2, so I tried it!

I made reference to a small bird that sucks blood in the real world (of course Nos does not suck blood🤣)

Because he and XR are both metal birds, they look very smooth....

Meet Europa, my buzz lightyear of star command oc.

Europa was an illegal experiment who was supposed to be a relentless killer, but a bug in her programming made her to become a bubbly carefree sweetheart who doesn't believe in truly evil people and loves to lend a helping hand (or hands) and escaped from a lab with her two siblings, Looma & Zinc, that created other beings like her to sell to criminals and evil overlords and played a main part in exposing the facility to the space Rangers. And with time, she & her siblings became space rangers, too

She's intersex and nonbinary, but everyone assumes she's a girl from her hair, so she sticks with the She/her labels. Her most notable powder is being able to regenerate her limbs and even her brain. Torque once shot her directly in the head, but she came back to life, and her head completely grew back like it never happened. She was designed to be completely indestructible, and her only weakness is Blubonium (which is extremely hard to come by).

She believes that inside of every villain is a is a lonely & broken soul who really only wants someone to care about them. That's why instead of defeating Zurg with violence like the other Rangers, she defeats him with kindness, much his dismay. They have a Wander and Lord Hater dynamic.

If she came into contact with Evilyear, it would literally be a Lord Dominator situation (for who's seen Wander over yonder)

XR doesn't exactly like Europa, Looma, or Zinc, for some reason, but Europa really likes him. She actually shows concern when he gets destroyed, unlike the other Rangers, but nobody knows why he doesn't like them.

This is Looma and Zinc BTW

Looma is the youngest of the group who's very timid, but surprisingly, the most mature and sensible of the group who tries her best to keep the older siblings from doing something rash or stupid. She has both eyes but wears an eyepatch because she doesn't like the way her left eye looks, which kind of obstructs her peripheral vision but refuses to not wear wear the eyepatch.

And Zinc is the middle sibling and is 95% deaf, so Looma and Europa have to use sign language to communicate with him. but he's the healer of the group. He can detect life in a being if buried somewhere if there is a disaster so people can find and save the person. He's also pretty good friends with Booster, and because of him, Booster is getting really good at sign language

Europa is the oldest of the trio, but the most childish, and the other two always end up suffering for her actions

The political situation in BLoSC is really interesting to me because we get lots of fascinating little snippets of how it all works, and some of it is quite morally murky on the Galactic Alliance's side. For example, it's strongly implied they're exploiting Bathyos for its fusion crystals. They have extensive mining operations there--run by their own people rather than Bathyosians--and Gularis claims, "The air breathers' insatiable appetite for our crystals has ravaged our world." Whether or not we can take this at face value is hard to say, but I think it's probably at least partially true, since it's his whole motivation for turning to terrorism.

The fact that the leader of the Bathyosians even needs to turn to terrorism at all is interesting, because you'd think he'd be able to just kick the Galactic Alliance out if he wanted to. However, his role is specifically "leader of the Bathyosian Council", so I imagine the entire council would have to agree to that, and I think there's a pretty strong reason why they wouldn't, which is that the Alliance is protecting Bathyos from the Raenoks. That fact is established in The Yukari Imprint, and while I don't think we're meant to read too deeply into it, one could pretty easily infer that Bathyos isn't in a position to refuse any of the Alliance's demands, because their choices are basically 1. let the Galactic Alliance strip away their resources at a high environmental cost, or 2. let the Raenoks do the same thing, but with force. So they chose the option that at least lets their people live in peace without fear of constant raids.

And I wouldn't be surprised if there are a lot of other planets that joined the Galactic Alliance for similar reasons. Heck, that's why an ultra-isolationist planet like Tangea joined--because they realised they needed the Alliance's protection from Zurg. And it's not a bad thing for all these planets to be allying together for safety, but it does open the door for exploitation of their more vulnerable members, which seems to be what's happening with Bathyos.

There are at least three major powers in the galaxy--the GA, Zurg, and the Raenoks--not to mention smaller forces like the Valkyrans (who are implied to have once been much bigger players), and the GA and Zurg are both clearly expansionist, while the Raenoks may or may not be, but are at the very least prone to violence against other worlds, so any independent planets kinda have no choice but to get subsumed by one of these groups eventually, and peacefully joining the Alliance is probably what most see as the best option. And if you think your only other choice is being violently conquered, how much of a choice do you really have?
