What I don't get is why news outlets and Netflix are trying to convince us that arcane was expensive to make. 250 million usd for both seasons they said, and obviously that's a lot of money, but they make the mistake of comparing it to big budget movies like Tangled. So you're telling me that I got an animated masterpiece that combines multiple different art styles fantastic voice acting and creative and passionate writing, that's 6-7 hours LONGER than major animated movies, and its the same fucking price?? And you're expecting me to agree with the corporations outlook, that it's too expensive? Yes, tangled is considered one of the most expensive animated movies, but arcane is like FOUR Tangleds. Many other 3D animated movies fall within the 160 million mark, but again, they're hours shorter than arcane was. I think the prices are comparable. I believe in saw someone (on reddit maybe?) divide the cost down to minutes of screen time for each show or movie and it becomes really obvious. I'm also pretty sure that many of these movie budgets do not include marketing in their overall expenses; arcane does.

This isnt even bringing live action tv shows into the equation; i dont think arcane even touches like the top thirty of those. And yet it's framed as such an expense!! Bitch its an incredibly successful tv show!! Ik Netflix is cheap as shit and has its own reputation to grapple with, but is the disdain for animation so much? Is it disdain for female lead action, for poc representation, for LGBT rep on screen? For the animation medium as a whole? I know the answer of course. But it's still very upsetting to acknowledge and think about.

Separately, arcane is absolutely crushing it. Ik act three is going to knock it out of the ballpark. Keep crushing corporate execs expectations please.

Original Rudy knew it wouldn’t be him getting a second chance at life when he cloned Rex’s DNA but imagine how jarring that probably was for Clone Rudy.

They were both ready to die, he was just the one that woke up in a new body. Do you think he struggled with some form of survivors guilt after original Rudy passed away?

It’s clear Rudy uses suicidal idolization as a way to cope with his loneliness and disabilities, I don’t think changing his appearance ‘fixed’ the problem, not completely, because a part of it is even outside the pod there is still a mental disconnect, a barrier he feels keeps people from understanding him.

Rudy built his identity around solving problems. He created his drones to escape the limitations that his body created and most likely why he became a hero in the first place. He found a purpose in fixing the broken and flawed, and we can see that with how he helps Amanda.

Unfortunately not every problem has simple solutions, especially when you’re dealing with the complexities of human experiences and emotions, something he’s still learning to navigate.

If he did continue to have suicidal thoughts it would probably frustrate him because it seems illogical. He’s terrified of his emotions because they’re out of his control, chaotic, dangerous. So he’d rather intellectualize everything to avoid feeling anything at all.

what i am about to say is extremely ignorant, but i have to get it off my chest. it's always so baffling to me when people characterise my school and future profession as difficult because i never think of it that way and i never think of my courses that way. like i know this to be true and i know many people go through this complaining ritual on a daily basis and i support them in their struggle on an intellectual level, but a little part of me is somewhat annoyed at the sentiment and feels solitary in my own reception of all of this. i'll be talking about how much i love it without mentioning the difficulty and someone will always step in and mention the difficulty. i knew it would be that way and that aspect simply doesn't register for me, not in a significant way at least. but all of this just makes me feel incredibly inhumane and defective ultimately. i have yet to meet someone who welcomes learning as wholeheartedly as i do or at least doesn't think of me as strange for being this way. because sure, people appreciate me for my thoughts, but i always get the feeling that that they're disturbed by their foreign characteristics.

deceptive, mostly. she's not physically strong, the average wastelander is a much better shot than her, and her vision and sense of hearing are limited in part due to the severity of her burns. she is, however, very cunning and very pragmatic.

almost everybody gloria kills across the two books are completely defenseless, actively running away from her, surrendered, or put into situations specifically orchestrated by her to make murdering them easy. she only kills in self-defence once, and while we don't see it, the state of the body leaves nick absolutely horrified. part of the conflict in dead woman walking is nick's inability to reconcile the fact she's able to do this with her positive qualities, made much worse by the fact she never expresses remorse for most of them

As much as I do absolutely still ship Hank and Connor, I am so glad that Leo and Markus occupy the majority of my focus when I'm hyperfixating on D:BH, because this fandom is downright insufferable about HankCon.

Like you'd think I'd get more hate for the genuine pseudo-incest ship consisting of two characters that actively tried to kill each other at one point, in which one of them wound up half destroyed in a junkyard as a result, than I do about the ship between two coworkers in which one kinda unintentionally half teaches the other to stop being so racist, but no.
