Here We Go Again
Tumblr media
Request: Yes or No
Btw, I’ve aged up the campers!  Darius is 14, Ben is 15, Sammy and Brooklyn are 16 while Kenji and Yaz are 17. (Y/N) is also 17.
~~
You stepped off the boat and onto the dock, relieved to hear something other than waves and puking. You looked out at the water, watching the small waves lift and lower the boat, a heavy sigh leaving you. There was no turning back once the boat left the island. You would’ve preferred to stay home with your laptop and no strangers around but your mother refused to take no for an answer. Camp Cretaceous would be your home for two weeks.
“Hey!” You turned to look at the girl, eyes drawn to the bright pink phone in her hand. She pointed it at your face, a wide smile on her face spreading on her face. She had a familiar look in her blue eyes, the same you got from fans of your mother.
“I’m Brooklyn. You might’ve heard of my Brooklyn Unpacks videos.” She introduced herself, turning and pointing the phone at herself and you. She put up a peace sign with her free hand, snapping a quick picture before switching to recording. “Anyways, Brooklanders, I’m here with (M/N) (L/N)s’ son! Can I just say I’m obsessed with her? It’s such an honor to meet you.”
“Excited to meet me or excited about possibly meeting my mother?” You questioned, head tilting. Brooklyn blinked, lowering her phone as she straightened up. Her gaze flickered to the ground, clearing her throat.
“Well... Both?” She answered with a wince, giving you a look similar to one a scolded puppy would give its owner. She offered an apologetic smile, rubbing her arm.
“Gather around, everyone!” A man called out, knocking on his clipboard to draw attention to himself. He wore a bright red shirt and a yellow headband, messy dirty blonde hair drooping over it. He had an almost childish vibe to him, a spark of excitement in his eye as he looked over everyone. You didn’t pay much attention to his words, watching Ben slowly inch towards the edge of the dock before leaning over and throwing up again.
“I’m head counselor. You heard that correctly-- head honcho, big shot.” Doubtful. Dave seemed too... laidback to be in charge. Before he could continue, the sound of tires screeching erupted from behind you. You turned to look at the sunkissed woman, noting the red shirt she had and the big ‘Camp Cretaceous’ logo on the side of her red and white truck.
“Welcome, campers!” She greeted, heading onto the dock and moving to stand beside Dave with a friendly smile. She placed her hands on her hips, looking over everyone before speaking. “I’m Roxie, head counselor of Camp Cretaceous.”
“It’s, uh, kind of a co-head counselor.” Dave explained after earning questioning looks, letting out an awkward chuckle. Roxie glanced at him with slightly furrowed brows, lips pulling into an amused smile.
“Anyway!” Dave cleared his throat, eager to switch the topic off himself. “Some of you won contests to be here, some of you had VIP invites, but for the next two weeks, all of you will be getting five-star treatment!” While Dave spoke, Brooklyn turned her phone, getting shots of each of the campers. One of the girls moved out of frame with her hand covering her face. She took another step to the side, accidentally bumping into you.
“Sorry.” She whispered, meeting your gaze for a brief moment before looking back at the counselors. The tip of her ears turned red, gaze locked forward. She cleared her throat quietly, taking a small step away from you, hands clasped infront of her. In a way, she reminded you of a tortoise retreating into its shell.
“As our first campers, you’ll be getting exclusive behind-the-scenes tours of Jurassic World.” Roxie explained, pausing for a moment to let the others cheer and express their excitement before continuing. “As well as kayaking, rock climbing, obstacle courses, and of course-”
“Dinosaurs?” One of the boys excitedly cut off, leaning forward in anticipation. When he realized his outburst had drawn attention, he leaned back, clearing his throat softly. Roxie nodded, taking a peak at the clipboard before addressing him.
“Yes, Darius, plenty of dinosaurs.” She answered with a kind smile. “So, ready for an adventure?”
“Absolutely! But I’m gonna need that speech a little shorter, and really lean into the majesty of this place.” Brooklyn instructed, lowering her phone. Roxie and Dave stared at her in silence, glancing at each other before moving one.
“Okay, we’re going now. Let’s get the seven of you to camp.”
“Uh, there’s only six of us.” The timid sea sick boy spoke up, lifting his hand as glanced at the others. A small grunt left you, shoulders slumping. Right, you had almost forgotten. Dave leaned forward, squinting as he looked over everyone.
“Wait... Dino kid, Track star, Internet Girl, Barfy, Texas, Mommas boy.. He’s right, where’s six?" Roxie took another glance at the clipboard, looking over what was written before groaning. Her shoulders slumped and a heavy sigh left her. Only one person you knew could entice that type of reaction from people.
“He’s making an entrance, isn’t he?”
“Sure is. I assume you’re familiar with our missing camper?” Pity was the only look Roxie could give you, not that you blamed her. Kenji was a special case, one that seemed to follow you everywhere.
“Sadly.”
Roxie hummed, nodding and motioning for everyone to turn and head towards the truck. “Alright, everyone! We’re going to fetch our missing camper.” She called, heading off the dock.
The ride to fetch Kenji wasn’t long and his entrance on the helicopter had only gotten scoffs in return. Roxie seemed to be the least impressed of all, tapping her foot as Kenji approached everyone with a smirk. Kenji tossed his luggage at Roxie, earning a scowl and glare in return.
“(Y/N), my man! How have you be-” Kenji stumbled forward, almost falling after Roxie tossed his bag right back at him. She brushed past him, addressing everyone else with a big smile.
“Let’s go, everyone!” She headed back to the truck, pulling down the cargo bed door and stepping aside to let everyone on. As you climbed on, a hand grabbed your wrist, almost tugging you off the truck. You looked down at the teenager, huffing and pulling him up onto the truck. Kenji gave you a grin, swinging his arm around your shoulder. His cologne invaded your senses, tickling your throat. You coughed, planting yourself at the end beside Barfy to escape Kenji. Kenji shrugged it off, sitting between Darius and Brooklyn. The sound of a picture being snapped drew Kenjis attention towards Brooklyn. Someone as pretty and popular as Brooklyn would definitely hold Kenjis attention for a while. Brooklyn was unknowingly your savior, at least for the next two weeks.
Dave shut the cargo door, knocking on the side of the vehicle until he reached the passenger door and swinging it open. Once he was inside the vehicle lurched forward, pulling everyone in one direction. Darius scrambled to put his seatbelt on, followed by you and everyone else. You placed your arm on the edge, resting your head on it. It was almost satisfying watching the dirt get kicked up by the tires while listening to the sound of branches rustling with the wind.
“What’s up, Brooklanders?” And with that, the peace and quiet was gone, replaced by Brooklyn's high pitched voice. “It’s your girl Brooklyn coming at you from the best place ever: Camp Cretaceous! Like and subscribe to join me as I unbox Jurassic World!” Brooklyn spoke, pointing the phone at herself before lowering it and looking at the others.
“Okay, I need you all to say who you are and a little bit about yourself. And, action!” Brooklyn pointed the phone at Darius, catching the boy off guard. He blinked, eyes widening as his gaze flickered around.
“Uhm, I beat this awesome VR dinosaur game. I’m Darius, by the-”
“I’m sorry, I just can’t believe I’m in the presence of Brooklyn and (Y/N)!” Texas girl smiled, cutting off Darius. Brooklyn smiled sweetly in response, shifting her attention onto her fan.
“I’m Sammy Gutierrez, total Brooklander and a big fan of (M/N).” Sammy reached out, gently taking Brooklyn's hand and shaking it. She turned towards you, beaming as leaned over Barfy and took your hand as well.
“I follow you on Instagram! I love your paintings and writing snippets! And your mom is basically my role model.” Sammy had more energy than two angry chihuahuas combined. “Also, my family supplies the beef to the island and that’s how I got here.” She settled back in her seat, smile never faltering.
“It’s nice meeting you, Sammy.” Brooklyn said, earning a bashful look from Sammy. The southern girl seemed sweet enough though not the greatest with personal space.
“Uhm.. What’s a Brooklander?” Darius asked the question on everyones’ mind, curiously turning to look at Brooklyn.
“Oh, that’s just what my online followers call themselves.” Brooklyn explained with a smile.
“Quite the name they chose.” You muttered, leaning back in the seat and crossing your arms. For someone so popular, you hadn’t really heard of Brooklyn all that much.
“All 27 million of us!” Sammy giggled, doing finger guns and making a soft ‘kapow’ noise. Kenjis’ eyes widened, meeting your gaze as he reached over to place a hand on Darius shoulder. Darius furrowed his brows, glancing down at his hand.
“Yep. That’s why she’s the only one who gets to keep her phone. She’s famous.” Track star spoke, bitterness lacing her voice. She didn’t seem as enchanted by Brooklyn as everyone else. Perhaps she was envious or just thought Brooklyn was overrated.
“What about-”
“I’m not famous. My mom is.” You answered before Darius could finish his question, glancing at the boy. Darius mouth formed an ‘o’, letting out a hum and looking back at the others. You felt Barfy shift beside you, noticing him covering his mouth and gag.
“Again?” You whispered, scooting away from the dirty blonde boy. He could only shoot you an apologetic look, unbuckling his seatbelt and leaning over the side of the vehicle. You reached over, grabbing the back of his jacket to keep him from falling off the side.
“Hold on.” Kenji let out a surprised chuckle, pointing to himself and then Brooklyn. “Rich and famous? Oh, meant to be.” Kenji laughed, snatching Brooklyn's phone out of her hands and scooting closer to snap a selfie with her. Your nose scrunched up, hearing Barfy vomit, throwing a meek apology over his shoulder. A cry left him as the truck swerved, tossing everyone around until it came to an abrupt stop. Your grip luckily hadn’t loosened, preventing him from falling out of the truck. Your seatbelt dug into your stomach, having kept you from landing on Darius. You unbuckled it, rubbing your stomach with a wince.
“Jesus, it’s only day one.” You let go of the skinny kid, peering around him and seeing Dave get out of the truck with a taser stick and a determined look in his eye. Barfy frowned, leaning back and nervously looking around in search of what had stopped the truck.
“Dave, what’s going on?”
“Nothing you need to worry about.” Dave responded, turning on the taser stick with a grin. “But you should all definitely stay in your seats.”
“That’s comforting.” You unbuckled your seatbelt and turned to watch the camp counselors, searching the trees around for whatever they were looking. Barfy whimpered, sitting back down as the others scurried to watch the action. Roxie and Dave slowly crept forward, remaining silent. Darius looked over his shoulder at the sound of rustling, drawing your attention towards the brush. A blur of green jumped out of the bushes, letting out a loud shriek. You wasted no time hopping off the truck, landing beside a fallen Barfy. You peeked into the cargo bed, spotting the tiny dinosaur standing on a surprisingly calm Darius.
Before the small dinosaur could take off, Roxie caught it in a cat cage, closing it and keeping the small dinosaur contained. “Crisis adverted.” Roxie smiled, stepping over Barfy and opening the back door. You offered your hand to him, pulling him up. His lime green jacket was now covered in dirt, spots of dirt on his face.
“T-Thanks. I’m Ben, by the way.” He introduced himself quietly, attempting to dust his jacket off though you doubted it’d get any cleaner without a wash.
“Nice meeting you, Ben.” You smiled, climbing back onto the cargo bed. Roxie got the carrier settled in the backseat, glancing up at an excited Darius.
“A real live Compsognathus!” Darius gasped, peering down at it while Roxie got it loaded in the back seat. Kenji scoffed, sitting back down and resting his arms.
“Oh please, it took a blanket and a cat carrier to catch it. Boring!” Kenji shook his head, trying to play it cool infront of Brooklyn. Darius looked over his shoulder, giving him an amused smile.
“Scared you pretty good.” He pointed out, earning giggles from Brooklyn and Sammy. In turn, Kenji glared at Darius, grumbling under his breath and looking away from him. Roxie got back inside, letting everyone know to settle back down unless they wanted to fly off the back before starting the truck. You buckled your seatbelt and listened to the occasional chirps the compy let out. Soft gasps turned your attention onto the gate ahead, the doors opening to Camp Cretaceous. Cheering left a few of the campers, followed by Roxies and Daves laughter.
The sun had begun to set by the time the truck got to the camp site, finally coming to a stop. Dave opened the cargo door, stepping away to get everyones’ luggage out. You hopped off the truck and stared up at the large trees, seeing the wooden bridges leading from one tree to the other. Further up the main trees trunk was a platform and inside was where you assumed the main site was. It was smart. With it so far up, no carnivores would be able to reach it. Apart from the flying ones.
“Yasmina! Hey, girl!” Brooklyn walked past you to approach the track star, phone raised and ready to record. You walked towards the base of the tree, spotting an elevator. Dave set everyones’ belongings down, turning and raising his hands to his lips.
“Announcement time from your co-head counselors!” Dave called, waving for everyone to gather around.
“Still not a thing.” Roxie muttered, stepping forward. “Okay, everyone, there’s some ground rules to cover. Curfew’s at 8:00 pm, and lights out at 9:00 pm sharp.” Roxie listed, pausing to let everyone voice their complaints.
“This is for your safety. We are in a dinosaur filled jungle. You must always keep your distance, or you could be seriously hurt, if not worse.” Roxie continued. Kenji scoffed, leaning over to whisper to you.
“Can you believe the curfew? Jesus, we’re not kids.” He shook his head in discontent, frowning as Roxie finished speaking. You shrugged, not finding an issue with the rules.
“It’s not as if we’ll be seeing anything worth while after dark.” You pointed out quietly, hearing Kenji hum in response.
“Bunks are that way.” Dave pointed upwards towards the treehouse, quickly stepping out of the step for everyone Yasmina smiled widely, shoving Kenji out of the way and grabbing her luggage. You chuckled as he stumbled forward, heading up the stairs and following Yasmina to the elevator after picking up your luggage.
“First one there gets top bunk!” She called over her shoulder, entering the elevator and spinning around. Her smile faltered slightly upon making eye contact with you, her former energy disappearing almost entirely. She cleared her throat, looking down and tucking her hair over her ear. Before you could question her behavior, you were shoved forward, an arm slinging around your shoulder. Brooklyn, Ben, and Sammy quickly piled in after Kenji, laughter leaving the girls. The elevator rose up to the top floor, the doors sliding open. Stepping off the elevator revealed a livingroom area with a pool table and a kitchen, a large balcony allowing a view over some of the forest. Yasmina pushed through, making a bolt for the stairs where the bedrooms were. Brooklyn and Sammy ran after her, their voices growing muffled when they reached the second floor.
You looked around, taking your time. It seemed spacious, more than big enough for seven kids. “So, I’m sensing some chemistry between Brooklyn and I. Mind being my wingman? I’ll be your wingman if you like Sammy or Yasmina or Benny boy.” Kenji grinned, arm locked around your shoulders. His words made Ben spin around, looking between you and Kenji with wide eyes.
“I don’t like anyone.” You clarified, shooting Kenji a look. Ben slowly nodded, continuing towards the stairs and heading up.
“Listen, bro. If your type is someone like Ben-”
“It’s not.”
“Do you like Brooklyn? Listen, you’re my man but-”
“She’s not my type either.”
“Okay, so Sammy or Yasmi-” You groaned, quickening your pace and jogging up the stairs. You entered the bunk area, choosing one of the bunks with a good view out the window. You sat down, pulling your luggage onto the mattress and opening it. Your notebook lied neatly on top of your clothes and shoes, the sight of it easing any nerves you had. You picked it up, flipping it open and seeing the sticky note on the first page.
‘Have fun! Remember to socialize and makes friends! ~Mom’
You couldn’t help but smile, keeping the sticky note where it was. You noticed a shadow cast over you, peering up at Yasmina. She avoided your gaze, clearing her throat and glancing at the others over her shoulder.
“Sammy mentioned you painted and, uhm... I was wondering if you could take a look at my sketches sometime?” She spoke softly and nervously, toying with her fingers. The attitude she had given Brooklyn before had completely changed.
“Yeah.” You answered with a smile, watching her lift her head to look at you. A smile appeared on her face, her shoulders relaxing and lowering. Yasmina walked back to her bunk, giving you a small wave.
Maybe things were looking up.

Getting with Yaz
Tumblr media
Request: Yes or No
Petition to let all the campers say fuck at least once
~
Those who know Yaz know she’s horrible with her emotions and even worse at expressing them properly
Which is why she was terribly awkward and flustered around you, barely getting a sentence out without a stutter and hardly ever spending time near you
For a while, you thought Yaz just didn’t like you
You weren’t sure why but she seemed like she hated being around you
Always made excuses to not be alone with you
In reality, she just didn’t want to embarrass herself if she got stuck with you alone
Sammy caught on quick, nothing love related can slip past that girl
She was immediately delighted and happy for Yaz and no matter how much Yaz tried denying it, Sammy wasn’t taking it
Yaz was able to convince her not to play wingwoman but it didn’t stop Sammy from dropping hints here and there
After encouragements from Sammy, a pep talk, and a few jogs to clear her head, she mustered up the courage to approach you
“Hey, (Y/N), uhm... IkindofreallylikeyouandIwaswonderingifyoufeelthesame.” “What?” “She likes you!” “Sammy!”
Yaz wanted a dinosaur to gobble her up right then and there
But then you smiled, chuckled, and nodded
Good things, right?
Oh, little Yasmina couldn’t handle the affection at first
Even handholding sent butterflies to her stomach
The other campers, apart from Sammy, didn’t know
It wasn’t as if Yaz wanted to keep it a secret
She just wasn’t big on PDA
And most of the time, everyone was busy either running from a dinosaur or fixing up camp
Brooklyn caught on first
Oh, Yaz will never forget the gasp Brooke let out or the way her jaw dropped
Any beef her and Yaz had disappeared for a moment when Brooke dragged Yaz away to get all the details
After all the gushing from Sammy and Brooke, Yaz held your hand infront of the boys
Kenji had the same reaction as Brooke, just with added stuttering
Ben wasn’t surprised, having caught onto Yazs crush pretty fast
Darius gave a big smile, a hug, and a congrats
After that, Yaz was open to cheek pecks and hand holding
It became instinct to grab your hand whenever a predator was around
Because of this, you were forced to run alongside the literal athlete
Rip your legs
While on the topic of running, Yazs idea of dates was going on jogs
Great for your health! Not that great for romantic moments
Luckily, Brooke and Sammy lived off romcoms and romance movies before getting stuck on the island so they gave Yaz some ideas
You had ideas of your own and you opened Yaz to a world of new hobbies and activities to do for fun instead of pushups
Of course, the topic of going home eventually made its way into one of your conversations
It was no secret the campers knew deep down the chances of them staying in touch after going home was slim to none
It scared Yaz
As much as she missed home and her mom, she didn’t want to lose you
You kept her sane and grounded
She wasn’t sure how she’d balance her track stuff and a relationship
She hadn’t had time for friends, how’d she have time for a partner?
Of course, you calmed her down and reassured her
Yaz was so glad she had you by her side
