Honestly those who bias Han or Minho and write x female reader stories or read them yall really are the strongest people in this fandom. I’m not saying i ship them but i’m also not saying i don’t think they’re in a relationship with all the evidence that they provide.
Like i genuinely don’t know if they’re just gaslighting us or they actually are together and either way yall are some of the strongest members in this fandom because of that.

SPOILERS YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED IF YOU HAVENT WATCHED IT YET!!!!!
HOLLOW MV IS OUT AND I HAVE THOUGHTS
Okay so first let’s just get the basic fan girl out. THE OUTFITS ARE SO FUCKING GOOD! The simple footwork and choreography is so goood i might actually try to learn this dance. The track and vocals work in such a seductive manner that of course has that mermaid like quality.
Now into the actual MV so this is based only on visual as i’m not fluent in korean or Japanese and the mv doesn’t have english subs nor have i gone to try and translate.
But does anyone else get this feeling that this song is about chasing the limelight.
I mean well yeah obviously it has those themes but the dark side of the chase. How at first theirs joy with in and the lights are everywhere they’re cheering and accepting flowers and trophies. As soon as they get the necklaces on, the light is still somewhat bright, but it’s now been associated that they need these lights to keep it at the top.
The light is now curated and materialized rather than what’s always been around them. For them to then start reaching for any source from lamps to shinny objects and it works filling up their cups (buckets but i’m using tarot terms) and yet as they fill it up the light dims again. Now they’re desperate for that joy taking it from literally everything even reaching into each other and going so far to reach for the sun but like incarus they fall leading to their death.
It reminds me of how i described my depression to my therapist once that my joy was like a flashlight full of batteries and i was wondering in the dark. Every so often i would have enough i could see my path and felt less lonely my thoughts weren’t swirling in my mind. But when i would run out of batteries id be stumbling in the forest tripping wondering if the thoughts that surround me would find me and get me. Enticing this anxiety of loosing to the feeling.
And i’m not saying the boys are depressed but referencing a feeling that i can relate to with the themes of the song. But with the english i do get i get this feeling this song is about how much they’re pouring themselves out to be at the top and how desperate they are to stay but with doing so it’s pulling them to a inevitable doom if they keep going at this rate.
But they can’t stop the joy of winning the lights they’re bright and the thrill of the chase is endless that it hollows out them mindless trapped in the the cycle.
Ahhhh it’s so good and i maybe never stop listening to this song when it comes out. Granted i do hope they find new healthy ways to fill their buckets but with the ending with Felix grabbing the freshly lit lights i think they have. I think this is an expression that no matter how desperate they get they’ll find a way.
So fucking poetic so experimental for them and AHHHHHHHHHHH I ULTED THE RIGHT GROUP.
STRAYS KIDS EVERYWHERE ALL AROUND THE WORLD.

What kind of stories would you like to see future Halo novels tell?
I have a few I’ve been thinking of and I’ll list them below in no particular order.
1. A book telling the story of how Jun escaped Reach and got back to Earth. Like a companion piece to First Strike. With a few allusions to A Fistful of Arrows.
2. Another short story collection. Like Evolutions or Fractures. Ideally more like Evolutions. (I’ve got some ideas for that (one involving a new OC I’ve created)).
3. An Epitaph sequel focusing on Cortana after her second death (I’ve got some GREAT ideas for this one, oh boy!). Largely set in the Domain.
4. A followup to that sequel focusing on Mendicant Bias and Offensive Bias.
5. A prequel trilogy focusing on the war between the Forerunners and Ancient Humanity, the stagnation of Forerunner society, the discovery of the Flood and the Primordial. (With new mysteries and depth to add to the Forerunner Trilogy (I still can’t believe Greg Bear is gone)). Maybe call it the Antediluvian Trilogy.
6. A trilogy of novels set before, during and just after the war between the forerunners and precursors. This one is gonna need a DAMN good writer. Kelly Gay is great (I LOVED Epitaph) but still, we’d need someone at least on par with Greg Bear. If I wrote the story, it would be fucking bonkers.
7. Another Grey Team novel. Kind of speaks for itself.
8. At least two more Arbiter-focused novels like Outcasts.
What do you think?
Oh man, theres a lot!
I would LOOOOOVE another short story collection. There's so much variety (in both subject matter and authors) and I feel like there's a freedom in picking out topics that you like at a low commitment length that has made them generally high quality. For every stinker, there's a few good or even great ones. I prefer stories focusing on a microcosm of the lore, but those can't carry a whole book (well, they could, but only fives of us would read it) so it's a well suited form for me.
I wouldn't mind another Forerunner story but they're not on the top of my list. I consider the Greg Bear trilogy to be almost separate from Halo in its worldbuilding and scope, and that's a compliment in that they can stand on their own. Another Forerunner story would be a fun break from the same non-starters set in 2559 that we've gotten lately, though!
I also miss Unggoy povs. I love how clever they have to be, being marginalized and lacking the physical prowess of our heroes. They're so clear-eyed about war and the way powerful people's antics will turn them into collateral. Dadab, Yayap, and Kwassass are some of my favorite characters and we haven't seen any Unggoy povs since 2007, I think?? It doesn't even have to be a whole book, I just want more of my little friends!!
I've got a pretty heavy Sangheili bias (no surpise there), and I would like to see another story that gives us more insight into Sangheili culture like we got in Glasslands. Anything new for the lore sponge in my brain, really. Oh, and put Usze and Vale in a room even once more and I'll take it from there.
Is it too early to say an Rtas book? I liked Empty Throne, but that was not Rtas' story, that was Tul's story. I wish it had been more obviously promoted that way bc I had my hopes up and they mostly had him playing dad to Tul with exactly one pov chapter. Like yes, what I want is a ten book anthology about Rtas but I don't think it's unreasonable to say he wasn't really present in Empty Throne. So, yes, I want an Rtas story!!
And of course, I would read an 800 pager about Thel filing his space taxes. I just want to see him again ;_;

the flood is definitely one of the weakest halo novels to me, i still haven't reread it because i just couldn't bring myself to, but 100% the best of it is the vibes of zuka 'zamamee playing the wile e. coyote to the master chief's roadrunner while this poor grunt yayap has to participate.

Odd question.
What hypothetical plots would you want to see tackled in future halo novels?
I’ve got a few which I’ll list numerically.
1. An Epitaph-style novel for Cortana. Sort of explains itself tbh. I think that would be QUITE interesting.
2. A novel focusing on Mendicant Bias, which I do think Epitaph is slowly setting up Tbf. Like I said.
3. Anything more that serves to continue the recent trend of following up on the forerunner trilogy tbh. (There will be some overlap). Epitaph, Renegades, Point of Light, Promises to Keep and that untitled story at the end of Fractures all did this. And I love seeing it.
4. A story detailing how Jun escaped from Reach and what happened afterwards. Maybe with a few allusions to A Fistful of Arrows too.
I can say this much.
Plus I think there ought to be another short story anthology book akin to Evolutions and Fractures. I have TONS of ideas for such a book.
What about you?
I absolutely love this question, thank you.
Loved all your listed plots, some of those definitely intersect with mine. Ill expand on some
I did some brainstorming here's what I've come up with so far:
1. Got to say I'm extremely biased and Spark still being my number one means I'm dying to know what happens next in Bastion. That "are you ready reclaimer, this is how my story begins ..." got me excited to say the least. Precursors!!!!!
I don't really have a particular order for the rest so Im bulleting it
• go way back and give us the nitty gritty details of Human forerunner wars (with UrDidact and Forthencho leading ofc) I know it's been touched on, but further develop it. Set the book completely in the past.
• more on Bornstellar's son. What happened to him? The one that has Chakas and Riser's straw hat 🥺 (Like you said continuation to Fractures)
• agreed we need Mendicant Bias to return
• who crashed on installation 04 in that one terminal from halo cea? What's their story?
• can we get another unggoy focused story like Dadab and Yayap? Doesn't matter when in the timeline. And make it funny!
• since we probably are not getting halo wars 3 I want to know what happened to Prof Anders
• continuation to ferret team (-1 😭) and red team at the ark
• whats happened to the infinity? Where's Palmer? Lasky?
• more on Castor and Gadogai especially now that Castor has been enlightened
• who are the other monitors? We have Guilty Spark's backstory fleshed out, give the rest a backstory, not just name drops. I'm directly looking at Abject Testament and his "we deserve to be forgotten" quote
• I'll take more stories with "the big guy" or how he's actually called, Spartan Novak. I liked him.
• kig yar focused story? I really liked Nor Fel and I forget the other kig yar ladies name.
• wasn't sure to include this because it's very self serving, short story on Chakas and Riser's adventures together before Bornstellar showed up.
If I think of any others I'll definitely include them 😊 I'm sorry my lore desires are very weird 😅
this was incredibly fun to write 💗
* I didn't mention our boys Rtas or Thel because I think they both will be in Empty Throne ofc

Sangheili Bracket Round 2 Match 2
More info below:
Tul 'Juran:
Debuted in Halo: Shadow of Intent
Born on Rahnelo as the sole daughter of Kaiden Tulum 'Juranai on Jan. 29th, 2535, Tul served as the captain of the guard and scion to her family's keep, wielding an energy lance. In 2553, the Prelate Tem'Bhetek attacked and captured her father and older brothers, leading to a request to join the Shadow of Intent to carry out a "right of release". In a clash with the Prelate, she learned her family members were killed, but continued to aid the Shadow of Intent in their mission. She would join a small group of volunteers to destroy a prototype Halo that the Prelate's boss hoped to kill the Sangheili species with, helping Rtas 'Vadum in killing the Minister of Preparation. Following a briefing by Rtas 'Vadum to Thel 'Vadam, her performance led to both agreeing that the restrictions on female military service should be lifted.
Zuka 'Zamamee:
Debuted in Halo: The Flood
A SpecOps serving the Fleet of Particular Justice, Zuka would join the boarding of the Pillar of Autumn at the start of the conflict at / on Installation 04, nearly being killed by the Master Chief. He would be discovered and rescued by Unggoy led by Yayap in a ploy to avoid taking part in further combat, but Zuka himself would misunderstand this and appointed Yayap his replacement assistant in SpecOps. Later, he would attend a meeting where he pitched a plan to kill the Master Chief - who he correctly assumed to be a big danger, but was denied under the belief he was having "combat-induced hysteria". Not long after, the Master Chief raided the Truth and Reconciliation, causing opinions amongst the Covenant leadership to change and Zuka to be granted permission to eliminate the Spartan at any cost.
Zuka would once again correctly deduce the Covenant battle network to be compromised, leading him to purposefully leave breadcrumbs for the AI Cortana to learn of the Cartographer in the hopes of luring the Master Chief in a trap. However, his trap would go awry, leading him and Yayap to hide inside a nearby supply case while their forces were wiped out by the Spartan. Later, upon reporting his failures, the decapitated head of one of his superiors - who failed to contain the Flood - would be presented as a warning to not fail again. His next attempt at the Master Chief's life would start off with staging Yayap to be captured and taken to Alpha Base so he could act as a spy. Once Yayap spotted Master Chief inside the base, Zuka arrived in a stolen Pelican with SpecOp troops inside. An attack on the base with started and Yayap recovered, although the Spartan himself had already left the base before the attack even began. Yayap would led Zuka to the Banshee pads on the false pretenses that the Master Chief was there, but really the Unggoy wished to use Zuka's piloting knowledge to escape the battle. Even as Zuka realized the betrayal, news that the attack on the base failed made him submit to Yayap and flee.
Now knowing he would be punished should he return to the Covenant, he decided to continue going along with Yayap's plans of escape, taking on the name of the fallen Huki 'Umamee to avoid being recognized. The two would join the forces at the crash site of the Pillar of Autumn, with growing fear within Zuka causing him to be more and more submissive to Yayap. Yet the Master Chief would infiltrate the Pillar of Autumn, re-igniting Zuka's vigor. He would task Yayap to listen to incoming radio traffic and direct him on where to go, truly seeing the Unggoy as the only one he could trust. As the fusion reactors on the ship were detonated, Yayap deduced the Spartan's intended escape route and let Zuka know he could catch him at an elevator leading to the Class Seven service corridor. The final confrontation between Zuka and his target ensued - and Zuka ended up heavily injured when the elevator harshly impacted the bottom of the shaft due to Cortana. With a broken back, Zuka could only look back at up at his foe, then waited there until the destruction of the entire Halo Ring took him out at last.

Halo: The Flood - William C. Dietz
3 ⭐
Sadly, this was a slight let-down after The Fall of Reach. It's not a terrible book, but it is essentially just a written version of Combat Evolved, which wouldn't be a crime in itself if only it added a little more to it!
John doesn't feel as fleshed-out as he did in TFoR, although his dynamic with Cortana is as sweet as ever. God, he has no idea how down bad Cortana is for him, bless him.
There is a little bit of background regarding machinations within UNSC that we don't see in-game, most notably, Silva being a salty fucker for no good reason. ODSTs, honestly. Saying that, Lt. McKay is a good character: a tough, no-nonsense woman who I found very likeable.
One thing I did really enjoy, though, was the storyline of Zuka 'Zamamee and Yayap. Ugh, Yayap is so cute, I wish I could give him a big hug. He's a Grunt who manages to fall up the social ladder by insisting on saving 'Zamamee so that he and his friends can get out of combat. 'Zamamee is an Elite who is absolutely set on defeating John after he is felled by him in battle, saved only by Yayap trying to get the hell out of danger.
This gives us a bit more insight into the structure of the Covenant, which is extremely hierarchical and pretty bureaucratic. Seeing 'Zamamee's struggles to be listened to on his very sound worry that the Spartan poses far more of a threat to the Covenant than the average human soldier makes it both tragic and comic when we see him through John's eyes: that is, as completely indistinguishable to any other Elite.
You know, I think that's the ultimate issue with this book: John's perspective is the least interesting one, and he IS the John Halo! I so wish Dietz had done more with him - his thoughts, his interactions, etc., because as is I may as well have just replayed CE and had a lot more fun than I did reading a play-by-play of, well, a playthrough of CE.

I've been playing Halo for the last couple days
thinking about Halo
especially Grunts (Unggoy). Even as a kid I always found them cute. But especially after reading the Halo novelization "The Flood" where one of the POV characters is a Grunt named Yayap and he has a whole fun little story.
It always bummed me out that the expanded fictionalization of Halo never seemed to take as much of a shine to Grunts as I did. Even after the 343 era, there's like basically no stories about Grunts. It sucks. I like Grunts. I want more Grunts content.
