Sunday, Sunday, Sunday! Thank you @aroace-genderfluid-sheep and @sailorblossoms for the tags, great to see what your working on (and your process on planning fics)! I hope you’re all having a most excellent Sunday with comfy lie-ins or bright and early starts or whatever else sparks joy in your lives. I had breakfast and a walk by the sea. It was wonderful.

First two chapters of The Goatherd (provisional) is now undergoing beta. Hopefully chapter one will see the light of day in the not-too-distant future. There are a couple of COC prompts it could fill.

I’ve also signed up for the Secret Snowflake Exchange! I’m excited to get prompts to write, and hopefully bring someone some Christmas joy!

Anyway, here’s a sneak peek of chapter two of The Goatherd. Simon POV.

Sometimes I wonder if [Lord Cadwallader] might actually be a little crazy. Some townsfolk say he has one of those black powder weapons you hear about in stories. When he gets drunk, he shoots old crockery. Sometimes I hear popping noises from the northern wing, but I’ve never seen anything like a firearm. I reckon he’s just doing noble person stuff. Like mixing different liquids and powders together and writing down what happens. He’s a great scholar.

Zan Partizanne: I've been meeting up with an old friend who happens to be on the same star Void reincarnated in. They've been keeping me up to date through the mail. You would know them too, Flam. Though i'm not sure if they're ready for you to know who they are yet.

I thought I'd start posting some of my art here because I'm very insecure about it and I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE 😬 I needed a reference pic for my circle tower! AU Jonah Derouen, who's a middle-aged Templar Knight-Commander who ruins his pristine strict results oriented career (and by proxy his life) by falling head over heels for a mage and reevaluates his whole stance on Chantry, magic and his sexuality.

He really tries, but is loosening the rules and giving more rights to the inhabitants of a Circle, writing some romantic poetry for his lover and sabotaging the Chantry power structure from the inside enough to gain him the redemption he seeks?

Gereon Alexius & Pteriidum - Emperor penguin (Aptenodytes forsteri) Like Alexius, emperor penguins go to extreme lengths for their children, of which each season they only have one. If they lose their child, they will even steal one from another penguin. Penguins care deeply for others (see Alexius wanting to fight corruption in Tevinter), but the love for their child trumps all. After the magister’s run with the Venatori, Pteriidum manifests Gereon’s deteriorating mental health as catastrophic molt.

Felix & Melzar - Yellow-winged bat (Lavia frons) Bats are symbols of vigilance, and Felix will dutifully watch his father in order to help him and others. Bats are also known as holders of disease, similar to how Felix suffers from the Blight. Yellow-winged bats are social animals and will search for their fellows if they are lost. They are also especially vigilant; during the day, one of a mated pair will stay awake to guard their territory. And they’re yellow.

Halward Pavus & Aplites - Largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) A bass is no trogon or felid, but it is a carnivore, and its mouth is full of teeth. It will eat anything in its path, and will not change course in its ascension. While not feared, it is formidable. Aplites is kept wet by enchanted jewelry and “swims” through the air in a bubble of water following her other half. Halward and Aplites had great things planned for their son, but if it takes too long for the fry to leave, the parent bass will not hesitate to eat them.
