Unexpected (Yondu x Teen Daughter reader)

I received a request to write a Yondu x teenage daughter reader story where Yondu finds out about the teen’s pregnancy. I’ve never received a request before so I was excited and super nervous to do this. I hope this is okay!

Warnings: mention of teen pregnancy. Little angsty but fluffy at the end. 

For as long as you could remember, it had always been just you and your dad. Your mother left the picture when you were quite small. The only thing you could remember was that she had a sweet, warm sort of scent. Her face was a blur in your mind.

But you learned to move on. Your father, even in all of his grumpiness, and the Ravagers that watched you grow up, were more than enough. Being the Captain’s daughter, everyone looked out for your wellbeing and taught you how to handle almost any situation. Except for this one. The small vial in your hand was glowing bright green. Your index finger still throbbed from where the device pricked your skin, taking a sample of your blood. You read the directions on the box again to make sure. If it glowed red, it was negative. Green was positive. Looking at the tube, tears filled your eyes as reality came crashing down on you. Locked away in the tiny storage unit that had always been your room, you fell on the bed and let out a sob. There was no denying it now, you were pregnant.

A knock sounded on the door a couple hours later, jolting you awake.

“(Y/n)! Ya in there?” your father’s gravelly voice called from the other side. “We’re landing soon, need ya ready.”

“Uh yeah. I’ll be down in a few.” 

You didn’t realize you had fallen asleep. Wiping away the tears that dried on your face, you sat up. Your mind returning to its panicked state. How were you going to tell your dad? It had taken him months just to get used to the fact that you were seeing someone.

The frequent trips the Elector took to Xandar to deal with Nova Corps issues meant you had a lot of time to spare on the planet. Roaming the streets of the city one day, a delicious, sweet scent came over you. Following the trail, you wound up outside of a storefront that sold many food items you couldn’t get on the spaceship. A boy, around your age, was behind the counter of brightly colored food. He had asked you what you’d like. You told him you didn’t know, never having any kind of food like this before. He let you sample every single item they had to offer before settling on a green, lumpy cake that tasted fruity. Ever since that encounter, you made it a point to stop at the shop whenever the Ravagers landed on Xandar, and soon a relationship developed between the two of you. Yondu wasn’t too happy when you told him you were seeing a Xandarian boy. He couldn’t quite swallow the fact that his daughter was growing up, but after awhile he grew use to it and even invited him out for dinner one night.

But this? This was entirely different. You were expecting a new life when you had hardly started your own, and you were terrified that the one person you relied on most in the world would abandon you. You decided to wait, at least until you had things figured out, before telling him. Adjusting your Ravager leathers, you tucked the vial into the inside pocket of your jacket, not wanting to leave it around where someone could see it. Ravagers were incredibly nosey. That’s why you stopped keeping a journal when you were twelve.

Making your way down the multiple metal walkways to the front of the Eclector, your father was right where you expected him to be in the Captain's chair.

“Glad ya could finally join us,” he joked when he saw you out of the corner of his eye.

“Sorry, I was feeling a little off. Must have fallen asleep,” you told him, taking your stance next to Kraglin. Yondu furrowed his eyebrows at you, a look of concern grew on his face.

“Ya alright, sweetheart?” he asked. “Ya ain’t been feelin great a lot lately. Ya coming down with something?”

“No, I don’t think so,” you shook your head. Wanting to change the subject, you asked what the mission was. The Ravagers were to hunt down a horde of yellow aliens. They had stolen multiple gold items from one of the merchants on Xandar and were known to be hiding out on Knowhere. You were landing in a couple minutes. A few of the Ravagers took an M-ship to the planet a couple days before to hunt the trail. The aliens were hiding out in an abandoned building near the Boot of Jemiah.

The older you became, the more Yondu let you go on missions he felt you were ready for. This was one of the biggest you had come across. From the side window of the Eclector, you watched as the ship landed on the planet. The shift of the accelerators making your stomach lurch.

The building was eerily quiet, as if the aliens knew you were coming. Yondu ordered his crew to split up, each taking a different corridor. You were paired with Kraglin. Even though your dad allowed you on missions, he still put you with his most faithful and capable First Mate. Both you and Kraglin creeped down a long hallway of the building. He had his blaster drawn and you wielded a knife in your hand.

A crash sounded behind you and Kraglin turned his back to yours, so he could guard behind you. Foolishly though, you turned around as well, leaving no one guarding the front. In those few seconds, the yellow aliens took their opportunity and revealed themselves from their hiding spots. Snaking their arms around your body, they took hold of you. Their arms were able to bend in odd angles, making it difficult to maneuver. The ends of their hands were covered in sharp nails, which drug across your leather jacket leaving slits and holes all over. Kraglin shot his blaster at them, but nothing work. They started dragging your body towards a door that you were very certain you did not want to go through.

“Let go of me!” you called out, their grip on you not relenting. They held onto you by your jacket, and you realized the only way you’d get out of their hold was to slip out of the tattering leather. Each tug and pull wore on the old jacket and you were finally able to escape, falling to the ground with a thud, when your father showed up. His whistle echoed throughout the room and the arrow pierced through the aliens that had tried to take you. Getting to your feet, you placed your hands on your knees trying to catch your breath. Your arm stung where one of the aliens had scratched you with its talon-like nails when you escaped their hold.

Yondu walked over to the aliens laying on the ground. Stepping between two of them, he tugged your jacket out of the firm grasp one of the yellow beings still had on it. The force causing something to clink to the ground. He bent down to pick it up not thinking anything of it, until his red eyes saw what he was holding. Yondu had seen one of these vials only once before in his life. Though the technology had changed, the basic function was still the same. His mind drew blank and he looked over at you with your head still bent down recovering from the attack.

“(Y/n), what’s this?” he asked holding his hand out. Your stomach dropped and heart started racing. A flash of heat flowed through your body, starting on your back and radiating to the tips of your toes and fingers. Your head still down, you peered your eyes up at your father across the room. A wave of emotions hit as soon as you did. Your mouth opened as if you were going to speak, but no words came out. Tears formed in the corners of your eyes, making them glass over, and your face fell.

“Is this a…” Yondu couldn’t finish the sentence. There was a long pause. “This yours?” his voice wavered. You lowered your head, not able to look at the blue figure anymore and started sobbing. Yondu watched you, unable to comprehend what was happening. He saw your body shrink into itself as you cried. His jaw tightened and he bowed his head when it finally sunk in. He set your jacket near you and walked out of the room.

You finally composed yourself enough to get up and make your way back to the Eclector. You avoided everyone as you walked toward your small room. When the doors slid closed, you fell apart again. Sinking down in the corner, you brought your knees up to your chest and buried your face. This wasn’t how it was suppose to go. You had it planned in your head to do it in private. You knew your dad would be upset, but this was worse than anything you imagined. He didn’t say anything, just walked away. Every horrible thought you had swarmed and attacked your mind, and you continued to let the tears fall.

You sobbed until your body couldn’t produce anymore tears and you just sat in the corner, not able to move from your spot. It felt like hours had passed being alone in your room when a soft knock on the door brought you out of your daze.

“(Y/n)”, Yondu called from the other side. “Ya in there?”

You didn’t answer, still not able to find your voice. After a few seconds you heard him typing in the code on the keypad next to the doors and they slid open. Yondu scanned your room, finally locating you sitting in the corner, and sighed. Slowly he walked over to you and slid down the wall to sit next to you.

“Why didn’t ya tell me?” he asked. His usually boisterous voice now soft and calm.

“I was going to,” you sniffed your nose. “This wasn’t how it was suppose to hap...happen.” You could feel your voice cracking as your emotions swirled through your body again.

“I’m so sorry Daddy! I didn’t know what to do!” you sobbed, placing your head in your knees again. “I’m so sc...scared, and I panicked and you walked away and I know you hate me but I don’t want you to ha..hate me and I’m so sorry!” you blurted out. Your chest heaving as you tried catching your breath.

Yondu closed his eyes, he hated seeing you like this and hearing your words broke his heart. Wrapping his arm around you, he pulled you into his side and called your name softly.

“Sweetheart, ya my daughter. I could never hate ya,” he said, rubbing in his hand up and down your back. “I’s just mad at the situation, not you. I’m sorry ya thought that.”

You started to calm at your father’s voice. “I don’t know what to do,” you said.  

“I’ll help ya, ya know that right?” he said, placing a kiss on top of your head. 

You nodded your head, wiping your nose with your forearm.

“Does the boy know?” he asked.  

“No, not yet.”

“Well ya need ta tell him. Sooner the better. If he wants to be apart of it, that’s great. But if he don’t,” you looked up at him with worry in your eyes.

“I ain’t saying it’s gonna happen,” he defended. “But if it does, at least ya know. But ya won’t ever be alone, sweetheart. I’ll be right there witcha.”  

You wrapped your arms around him tightly. Your body felt lighter at your father’s words, a weight lifted from your chest. He had your back.

Yondu laughed under his breath as a thought occurred to him.

“What?” you asked.

“Lil rugrat’s gonna grow up in a crazy family with all them idiots runnin about.”

You laughed too.

“Well,” you said. “In my experience, those idiots are the best kinda family to have.”

The Ravager Captain was greeted by a glowering First Mate when he stepped aboard the Vesta.

"Ogord." Xie turned, leading the way out of the hangar. "Th'others are waitin' for ya in the bridge."

"Dabria," Stakar murmured, almost silently. "Please, how could any of us have known?"

"P'raps ya coulda listened to 'im a' tha trial, rather than playin' disappoin'ed paren'," xie spat back. Both of them could see Udonta in front of the Captains' council, gagged and bound. Not even allowed to speak. A surge of shame speared up Stakar's spine. Perhaps you could've listened to me, if you weren't going to listen to him. Perhaps you could've listened to Tullk. Perhaps you could've listened to Aleta. Perhaps you could've listened. Perhaps you could've. Xie didn't need to say it. Stakar opened his mouth, but Dabria shut it again when xie opened the door to the bridge. The Guardians were gathered in one corner, Peter encircled protectively in their mix, the daughter of Thanos resting a hand against the small of his back. He recognised Kraglin standing a little off to the side, a watchful eye on Peter, and a firm glare on Stakar as he entered. The other Captains and First Mates were sprinkled throughout the Vesta's bridge, with Aleta in the centre. Stakar immediately made his way towards his wife, leaving Dabria to nod curtly at Maxi and disappear from the room again.

"I could've been watchin' yer goddamned funeral, Udonta!" Xir appearance flickered, intangibly, never settling on one choice. "I sat next to yer unbreathin' body and tried tae defrost ya, tried tae bring back yer breath!" Xie clenched Yondu's larger, blue hand in xirs, xir hand the only part of xir body that stayed a stable indigo.

"As if ya wouldna done tha same thing," Yondu rasped back, with a gentle smile. "Ya know we'd both choose Peter over us any day." Xie did know that. Xie had known that for Lila, and knew it for Peter since the first time xie laid eyes on him, even in a hologram.

"Don't y'ever pull som'in' like tha' again," xie whispered, resting xir head against his chest, listening to his hearts beat, just to make sure they definitely were. He scraped out a chuckle, resting a hand in xir hair.

"Tell tha' to our boy." Xie smiled, running an exasperated hand over her face.

"D'ya know how many damn times I already have?" xie replied, with a lopsided grin to match Yondu's own, as a chatter of footsteps approached the med bay. Peter was in the lead, with Rocket and Groot and the rest of the Guardians behind him. Kraglin stopped at the window, didn't dare come in. Aleta and Stakar stood beside him.

"Yondu!" Peter was a child again, flinging himself at the two when the Vesta and Eclector docked at the same ports. Yondu caught him with a thud, having dragged himself into a sitting position before the boy - man - sprawled over him.

"Whatcha fussin' fer, boy?" he teased, with his gruff old man smile, "I've had 'nuff o' tha' from Ria." Dabria gasped, feigning insult, and throwing a soft punch to Yondu's shoulder.

"Then maybe you should've been more careful 'bout launchin' yourself into space, then, old man," Rocket bit back, grinning.

"I am Groot!" Groot catapulted himself from Rocket's shoulder onto Yondu's, wrapping his tiny arms around Yondu's neck in some semblance of a hug.

"Yeah, yeah, hello," he laughed, plucking the tree away and onto Rocket's head. Peter shuffled back to Gamora's side, as the group burst into chatter, and Dabria slipped out the door.

"Kraglin, get ya ass in 'ere," xie commanded, catching the First Mate stare longingly through the window, and immediately joining him outside.

"Was ma fault," Kraglin replied, shaking his head, "I started the mutiny. I got pissed off an' let meself get carried away. Tullk warned me an' I jus' di'n't listen."

"Well yer a dumb shit if ya think tha' mistake'll change anythin' after what yer've done together," Dabria scolded, cuffing him over the head and pushing him through the door. "'E might've raised Peter from a lil tyke, bu' 'e turned you from a teen into a bloody good First Mate." Xie shoved him through the crowd around the bed, and the chatter fell silent as Yondu's eyes fell on his First Mate.

"'Bout time ya showed yer face in 'ere, boy," he growled, face fixed in a stern glare. "Thought ya could avoid me jus' 'cause I got a bit o' frost bite?"

"Y'thought Quill were th'only one who'd get off easy?" Yondu asked, incredulously. "F tha' were the case I woulda put my arrow through ya skull the first moment I bloody well saw ya after the mutiny, boy, same as I did th'rest of 'em." Kraglin leaned forward, shaking hands grasping the edges of Yondu's bed.

"What?" Dabria shoved him into the seat xie'd vacated by the bed.

"Si' down afore ya collapse, boy," xie cooed, scruffing up his Mohawk. "Can't 'ave you an' ya bloody Cap'n in th' med bay. C'mon, I'll fix tha rest of ya up wit' hot chocolate. I've always got some for when th'kid visits, though y'seem to've been slackin' a lil on tha' front recently." Xie cast a pointed pout in Peter's direction, leading the Guardians out of the med bay and abandoning Kraglin to his Captain's mercy. Xie only cast a passing glare in Stakar's direction, earning herself a gentle shove from Aleta. Don't you dare go in there, it read.

"What is this hot chocolate?" Drax asked, loudly, "Is it a Terran delicacy?"

"Come on dad!"

"No and this is the last time we discuss this matter!"

"Why can't I go out and explore your planet's dance clubs?" I asked.

"Because 1, they sell alcohol there. 2, they've gotten crazier than I last remember, 3, you are TOO young. And 4, because I said so". Grrr. Okay let's pause this conversation for introductions, my name is (y/n) Quill daughter of the self-proclaimed Star Lord Peter Quill, self-proclaimed hero of the Guardians of the Galaxy. After saving Xandar we explored other galaxies and other planets saving them, robbing them, bit of both at times but right now we decided to just simply take a vacation and dad thought it'd be a great idea to go back to his home planet of Earth for a little visit, see how much it changed since he was taken by Yondu and the Ravagers.

After about a week we've been here, I started to get bored out of my mind that was until I heard a couple of kids my age going to club party downtown. So I asked my dad if I could go and he said no and well you know the rest.

"You really hate me don't you?"

"I do not hate you. I just don't trust with the way people act around now a days. This isn't like back in the 80's when dancing didn't involve sexual touching or impregnating someone. I just want my baby girl safe and not pregnant".

"I can take care of myself dad, Gamora taught me how to break a man's arm with just my thighs".

"And I'll always be grateful to that, but my answer is still no. Now we're gonna get some more supplies and leave first thing in the morning for Knowhere, I received a transmission from Cosmo about a problem they're having". My dad then walked away leaving me alone in my room pouting.

Once, just once I'd like to do something fun that's not just stealing from everyone or saving the galaxy I mean don't get me wrong I like that stuff but it gets boring when you do it every single day in an endless cycle. So I decided that if I wasn't going to get permission to go the party downtown, I was gonna have to sneak out.

I waited till nightfall when the team and I would be gathering supplies plus other stuff that we wanted from Earth to take with us. And when I placed in my new "laptop" into my room I then ran into my dad and said.

"Hey dad, I happened to have seen this really rare vintage guitar and I really, really wanna buy it so can I? Please?"

"Alright but be back in an hour and a half, we'll be leaving by then okay?" I ran off but my dad stopped me by saying, "hey hold on!" He ran up to me and hugged me tightly and said, "I love you yah little monster"

"I love you too yah big dork, now can I please go the shop's about to close".

"Okay, okay go on then. And watch out for gangs and muggers on the streets!" He called out to me as I ran onwards but I wasn't going to the music store.

When I got downtown and saw the club bursting with life and sound, my heart raced with anxiety but mostly excitement, my first real human party with no aliens and no father to breathe down my neck. I entered inside when a guy in all black stopped me and said.

"ID kid?"

"Ahh yes here you go," I showed him my special psychic paper that even though it would appear blank before me, to anyone else it could show anything I wanted to so I was indeed a normal Earth being and some freak who appears human but whose baby mama was an alien model for "Space-Vogue".

"Alright step on in". He said as he moved to the side and handed me back my psychic paper. I kissed it and said.

"Oh thank you Captain". I slip my wallet back into my pants pocket and took in all the clubbing scene. Everyone was dancing, jumping up and down, flashy lights everywhere, music booming and vibrating off the walls and all around me were laughs and loud talking.

I tried to make my way through the crowd when I took notice the group of teens from earlier and one of the boys of the group was looking right at me and I gotta admit he was pretty cute for a Terran. He came up to me and said.

"Hey there".

"Hello". I said.

"I don't think I've seen you around before? I mean I'd recognize a beautiful face such as yours anywhere". I lightly blushed and said.

"Just a visitor passing by, my dad doesn't really know that I'm here".

"Ahh you snuck out too huh? Yeah my friends and I did that too, come on let me introduce you uhh—"

"(Y/n)".

"Beautiful name for a beautiful girl, name's (b/n) come on I'll introduce you". He wrapped his arm around my back and guided me towards his group of friends. We all talked and chatted away and danced some when (b/n) came in with a bottle of scotch and his friends all began cheering. "Come on (y/n) what you haven't drank before?"

"Oh yeah I've done it before, lots of times, I even once beat both my uncle Drax and Rocket into a drinking competition, but it was with stuff a whole lot stronger. But I promised my dad I wasn't going to do it anymore, he grounded me for 6 months".

"Well what your old man won't know, won't hurt him". He handed me a shot glass of scotch and one of the girls cheered me on.

"Come on (y/n)! Live it up!" Soon everyone started cheering me on and I looked to (b/n) and smirked at him.

Meanwhile back at the Milano, Peter was pacing frantically as he said.

"It's been hours already. Where could she be?"

"Take it easy Peter, I'm sure she's fine" Gamora stated.

"How the hell can you be so calm about this Gamora?!"

"More importantly how have you not fallen down from the floor already Quill? You've been pacing in the same circle for over 2 hours now" Rocket said as he was admiring his huge and I mean HUGE sack of duct-tape he had "gotten". A fiddle was heard at the door and the Guardians all looked at each other worriedly only they knew where they were staying at and the people at the desk swore they'd keep it hush-hush.

"Okay everyone stay here, I'll see who it is". Peter walked up to the door with his blaster ready to fire but when he opened it he saw me on the floor.

"Hey! You got the door open dad!" I exasperated happily.

"Excuse me sir is she your daughter?" A male officer asked as he helped balance me along with a female cop.

"Yes she is, is there a problem officer?"

"We caught her and a bunch of other teenagers drinking at a club downtown. They then proceeded to cause a rumble to happen outside the club. Now given the fact that she wasn't near the fight and just wandering the streets drunk we brought her home here. No charges will be put in her name". The female officer said.

"Thank you officers, thank you" my dad stated trying to keep his calm and not blow his top. "Okay sweetheart come here" my dad then picked me up and I went "wee!" "Have a goodnight officers and thanks again and I am terribly sorry for all the fuss".

"No worries, just be sure to keep your girl under radar, next time we may not be so forgiving about it" the male officer said then the two of them left.

My dad walked me back inside and dropped me into the couch making me bounce a bit into the air.

"Wow! Bouncy, bouncy. Very bouncy".

"(Y/n) (m/n) Quill do have any idea how worried sick I was!?"

"Shhhh, don't tell dad this but—tee-hee I snuck out to go to that party downtown".

"No really I had no idea!?" My dad spat out sarcastically!

"Shhhh I told you to keep it down" soon I passed out from all the scotch. My dad shook his head and threw me over his shoulder and said to the other Guardians.

"We're leaving. Now!" No one dared test Peter because none of them had seen him this mad since the first time I drank behind his back. They went to the roof of the hotel and Rocket unmasked the Milano and we all boarded inside and dad set me on my bed and went back to the control room. "Gamora you take first watch over (y/n), Rocket and Groot you'll take the second and Drax you take the third. If she wakes up during any of your shifts call me immediately". Dad demanded sternly.

"And what are you going to do while we watch over your daughter?" asked Drax.

"I'm preparing my beyond grounded till the end of the galaxy speech!" Dad then punched the gears and the Milano then took off out into the atmosphere.

I woke up to a massive hangover. My head pouncing hardly like I had ran into a steal wall leaped into the air and dove down head first on top of the Dark Aster. My eyes flinched and I heard my dad say.

"Rise and shine sleepyhead!" I groaned in agony and whispered.

"Do you have to be so loud?"

"Let me think oh umm—YES!!" I cried out in pain and said.

"What is wrong with you? I have a hangover and this is how you take care of your own daughter?"

"Well my daughter wouldn't have disobeyed me and gone to that party and get involved with other underage drinkers and almost get involved in their fight! You're lucky when you get drunk you get all loopy and giddy!" My dad then placed a water and a pill down for me and I took it and groaned in pain. "So, start talking. Why'd you do it?"

"Why do you care?" I snapped.

"Because my daughter went behind my back and I wanna know why!?"

"Fine you wanna know!? I'm sick and tired of doing the same damn thing over and over again. We save the day, we steal stuff, we go to parties. You over my neck! I'm not a little kid anymore dad! If I wanted to go dancing and have a couple of drinks with new friends I can do that!"

"Not if those so called friends get into fights when they've had one too many!"

"It's my life dad! Stop trying to control me!"

"I'm sorry. My sister DIED because of a drunk driver! I wasn't going to allow my little girl to suffer the same fate!" Dad choked out with tears in his eyes. My anger diminished and I just looked at him in shock. Dad then tried to say something but he as too upset to even speak as he sat down at one of my chairs. I slowly walked up to him and sat down beside him and said softly.

"I didn't know you had a sister".

"Older sister by 8 years. Oh man (y/n) she was my bestest friend, she did everything for me, and she was there when your grandmother was—well you know".

"What happened to her?" My dad sighed deeply and proceeded to tell me.

"I thought that forgetting about it would make the pain easier, but sadly time doesn't heal all wounds. She was on her way home from a school dance. She had gotten asked out to prom, I was staying with my grandpa at the time cause me mom was still being processed if she had cancer or not. She was almost home like by five minutes when this asshole ran a stop sign and T-boned my sister's car. She died almost instantly in the crash. I was devastated, I had lost the only real friend I ever had and my role model. I looked up to her for everything, and even though we'd mess around with each other I loved her and she loved me. And looking at you, you remind me of her in every way". I smiled softly as dad ruffled my hair gently.

"I'm sorry daddy. I just wanted to try something different and just be free for once. But I guess I'm not really ready, am I?"

"You've grown up so fast I just can't help but think of that baby girl wrapped in pink. And when I blink you're suddenly all grown up like you are now. Kick-ass and all". We both smiled and I said.

"Whatever punishment you have I'll take it, I deserve it. I was selfish and I lied to you".

"Ehhh, how about I let this one slide? After all I did way more stupider stuff than you did when I was your age. Like father, like daughter as I used to hear back when I lived on Earth". He wrapped his arm around my shoulder and brought me into a sideways hug. "I love you (y/n)".

"I love you too daddy". I whispered as I leaned into my father's chest listening to his heartbeat lull me back to sleep.
