I didn’t expect to enjoy this kdrama as much as I did. I started episode 1 a few months back and I couldn’t finish it because I didn’t think it was my type but I came back to it recently and it was a heart breaking but pleasant surprise. Did I bawl my eyes out? Yes. All episodes were sad but some really broke my heart. It’s a well told story of the pain of human experience, suicide, and the power of kindness.

Every episode represented some group that is at risk of suicide; war veterans, victims of sexual assault, victims of bullying, victims of fatphobia, victims of gossip and cyber cyberbullying, struggling parents, those struggling to cope with grief among many other overt and underlying themes. Every actor played their character so well. It isn’t one of those popular kdramas but it goes in my book of memorable kdramas.

The truth is that the entire story is laced with terrible and vile human beings who hurt others with no remorse. They inflict inconceivable pain to others that is internalised to a point that victims’ souls slowly deteriorate. I could never stomach to watch shows like 13 Reasons Why or The Glory but this was digestible enough for me to see the story through and I am so glad I did despite almost quitting after one episode that felt too hard for me to watch. The overall concept is unique, well-paced, presents Eastern beliefs in a modern scenario, and ties up all its ends as best as it can.

I have always been an advocate of “kindness matters” and this show affirmed it for me again. I hope that no matter what I go through, I will never lose my desire to be kind to others.

having mixed feelings about the twist in episode 14 but first thing i wanna say is that i did NOT SEE THAT COMING. LIKE, AT ALL. AND I NEED THE BACKSTORY RN and they had better handle this part with care.... i am so apprehensive about the next couple of episodes because i'm very much on the fence about how the only queer character in the drama is the 'villain' slash very very very questionable person who falls on the darker grey side of things
