Where is Sam season 4 and post-Crisis?
Tumblr media
I know it’s been brought up before, but Sam is a core relationship and person to Lena’s past. They are best friends “sisters” even and I refuse to believe her disappearance isn’t a massive plot hole. Let’s consider a couple of key moments Sam should’ve been brought up.
First and foremost season 4 Lex being released from prison?? Hello, your best friend’s maniac brother is on the loose, maybe a phone call would work. The irony of Lena snapping at Kara for not being there for her while Alex and even Supergirl were was also not lost on me.
Second, Lena finding out Kara is SUPERGIRL!!! To set the scene Lena finds out the her best friend is a kryptonian while Sam, her other best friend, had a wild awakening for being one as well a year before! There is literally no one better to talk to about whatever she was feeling than Sam. Moreover not only was Sam a kryptonian and knew and saw Supergirl’s struggles, but Sam was Reign!!! and for a while both Kara’s friend and Supergirl’s villain. She had front row seats to Supergirl’s hypocrisy and her poorly played split personality. To top it all off Lena had lied to Sam for her own good in order to protect Sam and because she doesn’t really trust people which was obviously not the same situation as with Kara but still, we can see some similarities that they could’ve talked about. But instead of doing so, Lena builds an AI puts it in Eve Tesmacher’s body OF ALL PEOPLE to serve as her emotional support/sounding board. (I refuse to believe that actually happened)
Third, Lena brings Andrea back into her life?! If you ever had a best friend I’m sure you’d have some reticence before allowing said best friend to bring a toxic lying ex back into their lives for god sake. Like no matter what, that decision should’ve been double checked. I love the Lena backstory with Andrea it really thickens the plot, but if I was Sam I would’ve given Lena a quick reality check on why that was a bad idea.
Fourth!!!! Post-Crisis!!!! Okay so reality changed and let’s say maybe Sam and Lena never met. But Lena kept her memories, and as (a platonic best friend according to the writers) Kara checks/makes sure that Lena remembers their complicated history first thing after saving the world, why on earth prime wouldn’t Lena do the same with Sam if they are so best friends and so platonic. But let’s say they indeed didn’t meet, I have even more questions. How did the Harun-El come to life? Was Sam Reign? Did they save her and then just moved on? how did they even realize she was Reign. And if Sam was not Reign how in the world did she get to Earth and what in the world was with the witches of the cult popping up 5th season. Will Sam become Reign? is she dormant? I have so many questions that Lena, Alex, Brainy, Kara should have too!
Side notes to that argument I have:
Lena saying every one of her friends has betrayed her in the past when Sam never did
There’s some sort of excuse the writers could give, like if Lena already had a best friend that was there for her in every sense of the word while making big sapphic eyes at Kara and going through a sapphic tragedy when Kara lied to her then well that couldn’t have been platonic could it?
Ruby and Esme. There’s absolutely no way Lena did not think of Ruby especially when Esme came around I just refuse to believe so.

Someone just mentioned that Kal El is feeling migraines potentially relating to the explosion of Krypton/his memories of it, and how it would have been cool if they mentioned whether Kara felt them too. Which has my imagination going.
Because it would have been interesting to see that in season six, as a result of being back in the Phantom Zone, which is sure to have knocked more than a couple memories loose. So on top of the presumed PTSD, Kara dealing with migraines related to Krypton would have so interesting to explore. Because guess who else canonically has a history of migraines?
Lena Luthor.
So imagine Lena not only recognizing Kara's symptoms (even as Kara tries to hide them), but also helping her through them using the tips and tricks she's learned and utilized over the years. Imagine Lena noticing Kara wincing at bright light and her discomfort at trying to read a computer screen, and then while Alex hands out assignments for the current mission, when she gets to Lena, Lena is just like "I'm taking Kara home."
Alex, of course, is concerned. "What? Why?"
"Kara has a migraine," Lena says simply.
Alex looks at Kara, who looks surprised and guilty under the sudden spotlight. "Are you?" Alex demands.
"Uhm...." Kara's gaze bounces between Lena and Alex. "Kiiiiiinda?"
Everyone is so shocked that Kara a) has a headache and b) is admitting to it, that there is a moment of stunned silence among the entire group. Lena finally picks up the slack.
"I'll take her home and make sure she gets some rest. I ask that you divert any requests for assistance until she feels better."
Kara balks at that. "That's not necess--"
"Done." Alex nods firmly. She gives Lena a look, pointedly ignoring her sister for the next bit. "Let me know if either of you need anything."
Lena smiles, glad for the support Kara is getting. "I will," she promises.
And then when she gets Kara to her apartment, and gets her settled with the best of Lena's mitigation strategies in place, Kara has to ask.
"How do you know all of this?"
Lena sits on the edge of the bed, adjusting the warm compress on Kara's brow. She gives a gentle shrug. "I've had them for as long as I can remember."
Kara's brow furrows. "I had no idea..."
"It's just a part of my life now. But I don't know... maybe I'll have fewer of them now that I'm living as myself."
"I hope that's true," Kara says. She groans. "I don't wish this on anyone."
Lena strokes Kara's hair once as she withdraws, almost without thought. Kara thinks it helps better than anything else Lena has done for her so far. She doesn't say so.
"Of course, you know the best remedy for a migraine, don't you?" Lena smirks.
"What?"
"Sleep." Lena gives Kara's hand a squeeze. "Get some rest."
Kara loops their fingers together, keeping Lena's hand in hers. "Stay?"
Lena nods. "I'll be here when you wake up."
Comforted by the promise, Kara soon falls into a deep healing sleep, all thoughts of Krypton and the Phantom Zone fading as she focuses on one thing only-- the rhythm of a familiar heartbeat she knows by heart.

If you were to rewrite any season of Supergirl which one would it be and what kind of changes would you make?
Ooh, this is a super fun question! I’m tempted to say Season 6 right off the bat, because we all know my feelings on that gosh-awful shoddy excuse of a finale, but that’s a lazy answer so I’m just going to take that disaster out of consideration and focus on the rest.
The first three seasons were actually pretty solid, in my opinion. My favorite was Season One; the show just had this goofy, fun, comic-book vibe that got lost when it moved to the CW and never really came back, but 2 and 3 actually weren’t bad. It’s the last three seasons where things went off the rails, and if I had to pick a worst offender, it would probably be Season 4. Season 5 at least had a couple redeeming moments (and some instances where Kara remembered she possesses a backbone and put her foot down about a certain somebody’s BS). But Season 4? I can remember almost none of any of it. Literally. None. It’s a blank void in my head. Things happened, but I couldn’t tell you what or how or why anyone should care.
So yeah. I’d pick that season to fix. As for how I’d fix it, I think a big part of where Season 4 went wrong is that it was the point where the show started trying to do too much. It got super preachy and political and forgot that most people were watching it for a fun, goofy superhero show that wasn’t as off-the-wall as Legends but also not as grimdark as Flash and Arrow were getting. Not to mention that it tossed in a bajillion characters who didn’t really need to be there at the expense of the ones that the audience already cared about. If I had my way, I’d lose the Legion thing- I love the Legion, but that plot went nowhere- and keep Mon-El around. One criticism that SCs love to make that I actually agree with is that the show spent too much time on Kara’s relationship drama, even after Mon-El was gone. And that’s because the writers were way too obsessed with the “having it all” thing. If you ask me, the question should never have been whether Kara could have it all, that’s sexist and dumb and I hate it because no one ever asked that about Barry or Oliver or any of the male heroes, but how she was going to have it all, how she was going to take all the different sides of herself and build the life she wanted out of them. I think a good step towards that would be to give Kara a stable partner who supports her and is in her corner no matter what, and leave the romantic side there. This wasn’t a romance show and it never should have been treated like one (and that includes insane shippers who look at everything including the actors through their headcanon goggles).
As for the rest of the season? I think the show really needed to tighten up and focus on the bonds between its core characters. We can keep Nia, we can keep Brainy if we really have to, I’d even like to have Winn back as long as he had a decent storyline and wasn’t just there for the sake of expositioning and cracking jokes. And for heaven’s sake, find someone who knows how to use James properly. But all the other random characters who were thrown on board? J’onn’s brother, Agent Liberty, Red Daughter, Colonel Whatever Her Name Was, get rid of them. Some of them were cool concepts, but the way it was executed was either too preachy or just too much. The show didn’t have enough breathing room to explore anybody well because it had to keep so many balls in the air. I would have liked to see a different, smaller-scale threat be the “big bad” of the season, something that really tested the bonds of the Superfriends and forced them to figure out who they are and how they still fit together with all the changes they were going through. There was so much untapped potential in that team that never went anywhere because the show was too busy tossing in everything but the kitchen sink. Maybe we could see some of James grappling with the new fears that come with being a hero in his own right instead of a sidekick. Maybe we could see more of Nia as Kara’s protege, because that really got lost. Maybe we could get a glimpse into all the emotional trauma that Winn has going on under his permanent comic-relief-ing. Maybe we could even find a way for Brainy not to be so incredibly annoying, although that one might be pushing it. I just really would have liked to see a season that quieted things down a little and narrowed its focus to really showing us who its core characters are and what makes them such a good team. I think the show could have really benefited from taking a breather from the world-ending threats and giving us a chance to get to know the characters on a deeper level before the next near-apocalypse came along.
As for the Luthors, I’m just going to come right out and say it. CLOSE THAT CHAPTER ALREADY. Lex was a really, really good antagonist, but that whole saga just went on far too long, and Season 4 is where Lena went from “oh great, here’s this girl again” to “I’m so sick of seeing her stupid face.” Just figure out how to close that chapter and move on to something else, preferably after putting Lex back where he belongs as Clark’s nemesis instead of Kara’s, and taking away whatever golden get-out-of-jail-free card Lena was holding and introducing her to the concept of consequences. The Luthor thing was just milked for all it was worth, and Season 4 was where it became infuriating to watch. Ideally, I would have liked to see the Luthors bow out in the first few episodes of the season, and that smaller-scale threat I mentioned take their place for the rest of it. I think Season 4 really just needed to clean house and get rid of the extra stuff, and spend some real quality time with the characters who made the show great to begin with.
Holy cow, this is on its way to being a dissertation. But it was a really fun question to answer! It made me want to start up my Random Ramblings again; between my fic-writing and being a theater major in the middle of show season, I’ve really fallen off the wagon there. Thanks for asking this, lovely friend!

Note
so i have a few questions
1)i cannot understand how you ship k*ramel. their relationship was FILLED with toxicity. from mon-el failing over and over again to listen to what kara had to say to him basically telling her to give up being kara danvers. convincing her that "being supergirl and having you is enough” was absolutely horrible. karamel had their moments but overall it was toxic. then in s3 mon el was married and the whole point of season 3 was allowing them to move on. accepting the toxicity from s2 and pushing past that romanticized time. mon el was a better person by 3b but he was still married. even if mon el and imra did break up in the finale there’s no future for karamel. even during 5x13 kara went to ask on advice about lena. and when winn came to visit from the future not a word about him. she’s moved on and it just wouldn’t make sense for kara to end up with him.
2) how can you hate lena so so so much?? it’s been said over and over again that all she’s ever wanted to do is good. though she’s designed to be this morally grey character. she has FLAWS but that’s what makes her so good. she’s a victim of abuse and you can see her struggle with that especially in seasons 4 and 5. in 5 she definitely goes down a questionable path but how can you expect her not too? after being emotionally abused by her brother, betrayed by her family, andrea (this did happen before kara), and then eve. finding out that kara and EVERYONE she loves has betrayed her as well. I mean how could you not go mad?? and even when she “went mad” she was trying to rid humanity of PAIN. something she later realized was a necessary part of life. her hurt blinded her from reality and lex’s manipulation pushed her down further. she’s been hurt and broken so many times and while that’s not an excuse for what she’s done you have no sympathy for her and that I find appalling. lena has realized what she’s done is wrong, that she’s made mistakes, what she did to kara, and she will have to live with that isn’t that punishment enough? she’s apologized and is trying to make up for everything she’s done by saving the world (again). your unnecessary hate towards her infuriates me. cant you take a step back and see the whole picture?
3) why DONT you ship supercorp or accept the queerbaiting? (watch this: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=C2w2GBXd_Pg) They are the core relationship of the show while the danvers sisters are the heart. they’ve gone through so so much together and practically dated in early season 2. they love each other it’s just oh so apparent. i like to believe one of the reasons lena reacted so strongly in s5 is because she was in love with kara and she couldn’t handle the person she was in love with lying to her. and kara flew around the world to get lena’s favorite food!! if that’s not romantic idk what is. I feel like you’ve developed such a clouded view of supercorp that you need to take a step back and understand what lena is the love of kara’s life.
wow what a long message. im not here to hate. im here to inform & undertand. i get it. karamel had their moments and even MY perception of them might be a little cloudy. im not going to hate you for liking them. hell I even shipped them for a little! my brother thinks 3b mon el and kara would’ve been perfect but he understands that supercorp is just where the show is leading and he wants them to be endgame. but what I will hate is your hate. what’s the point of all this? this thread, this account is going to do NOTHING. so why bother? I debated sending this and I hope I’m not too harsh at times but I really wanna see what you say. I hope you can open your eyes to lena and supercorp. maybe even become a supercorp shipper yourself!
- thanks and supercorp endgame 💙❤️
First of all, if you want to discuss ships in the future send this type of anons to facepalming-since-chernobyl, this blog is not for this, but for gathering receipts.
1.I just ship it, I don’t get why you have to understand it. It’s shipping. But if you insist:
No, it was not filled with toxicity. Count me when he failed to listen to her when they were in a relationship. Secondly, he is not a dog, he has his brain, he is his own person. People don’t always do what others asked them to do. It’s not slavery.
He has NEVER said to her to give up being Kara Danvers. How did he exactly convince her? How can you read the scene that he convinced her that being supergirl and having him is erasing Kara Danvers? In this scene he supports anything SHE WANTS to do. Also, Kara Danvers doesn’t equal Kara being a reporter in CatCo. On that moment she had her blog. She change people’s live with it like a real reporter. She took the risk and met consequences of her actions aka being fired by Snapper. Also, remind me who told her to create a blog? With your logic Lena was erasing Kara Danvers too.
Friendly reminder that he was forced to the marriage to keep peace. Also, friendly reminder Imra and the Legion out him in this situation without telling him about her plans. She and Brainiac put him there, knowing exactly how much he loved Kara and how much she meant to him. Imra knew that, that’s why she asked him to stay and solve his feelings. She said if he had come back, she would have known he had no doubts. But he wanted to stay, that’s why they broke up. He came back because once again he sacrificed himself for the greater good, like a real hero. Maybe watch the Argo eps because they clearly show that no, it was no about moving on.
It was not accepting about so called toxicity. First of all, she already forgave him that he lied. Secondly, all of she was screaming in that scene, when she was infected with M’rynn’s powers, happened before they got together and it was already approached in the musical ep. Aka, this scene had no point.
There is no future for karamel because you say so?
Kara went to asked him, because she truly believed and trusted him and his judgment. And yes, she asked about Lena and what did he said? That Kara deserved the same compassion she gives others, something Lena never gave her. And sorry, I know all scs scream the 100 ep was about sc, but it was about Kara fully realizing she is not responsible for Lena’s horrible choices. That’s it. And friendly reminder she called her a villain in the last scene. Also, the ep showed than no matter what, Lena always ends screwing something, because she has too big ego, always knows better, doesn’t stand criticism and doesn’t trust anyone.
It doesn’t make sense for you. Suit yourself.
2.Her fans made me hate her :) Thanks to them and how they excuse her every horrible action, how they treat her as a victim, while she abuse everyone etc. I started to watch her more carefully. And well, she is a horrible, white, privileged capitalist, who plays god, judge, jury, has mommy issues and acts like typical Luthor while crying she is not one, while still using Luthors money and resources.
Yeah, many people want to make good and end doing evil things. Common people pay for their sins, she has never. Since allowing hostile Daxamite army to invade the Earth (also, her portal affected the other aliens who destroyed the NC), producing a device that could recofnize aliens without their consent (and it was used by Children of Liberty,)producing and lying about Kryptonite, trying to make people superpowered without any supervision, killing Adam during illegal experiment, supporting openly alienphobic president and in a way Agent Liberty, killing Lex and then blaming Kara and finally manipulating Kara for months, lying, gaslighting, yelling, making her steal Lex journal, trying to lobotomize her and tortured with kryptonite, hurting every way possible, physically and mentally. Working with mass murderer, enslaving 3 people (kidnapping Eve, without her consent putting AI into her mind, basically RAPING her brain and making her a puppet in her own body; enslaving end experimenting on Malefic and Russel – threatening to kill him to steal Andrea’s necklace) – none of it are flaws. It was horrible abuse and violating every human right and the fact some people excuse it is disgusting.
First of all, being victim of abuse doesn’t give you the rights to HURT other people. The fact I have to explain pains me. Secondly, what abuse exactly? Lillian didn’t love her? Lex kidnapped her? Said he was going to kill her? You know what? Winn HAD HORRIBLE past and he didn’t turn into a murderer. Mon-El was abused by his mother and never tortured Kara with Kryptonite. J’onn killed a lot of white martians but last time I checked he doesn’t feel good about it. Also, never said the things he has done were GOOD. See a difference?
Yeah, and all of it, still doesn’t give her the rights to torture people. Also, friendly reminder she lied to Supergirl about Kryptonite in s3, much before the whole drama. Remember how she destroyed the life of a girl that stole boyfriend in middle school? It clearly shows she always had THAT in her. Plus, sorry not sorry, if she wanted different life, outside her family she could have easily done that. She was in Star City, with Jack, doing her researches, making her career. And she threw it all away, because she WANTED to be a Luthor.
Plus, sorry not sorry, if you feel betrayed and hurt because your friend didn’t tell you something she didn’t OWE you, you go to therapy, not trying to lobotomize entire planet.
Mate, she wanted to lobotomizer entire humanity, without ANYONE’S consent, because SHE, one single Lena, felt hurt. This is playing a GOD. Nothing explains it.
Planning a cold ass revenge for months is not being blinded by feelings.
Once again, even if could argue about how many times she was broken, most of that was a white privileged life she chose herself but whatever, it still doesn’t excuse her. All of she has done should meet consequences. Paying for shit you have done, accepting it, fully realizing what you have done is a part of redemption. Still in s5 she didn’t even apologize to Kara. Because she still didn’t understand what she has done and doesn’t feel sorry about it.
Feel appalled as much as you want, because I’m not going to feel sorry for a white, privileged woman who has never paid for her actions and is basically a living avatar of the worst Karen you can imagine.
She realized Lex was using her horrible experiments (remember? She experimented on puppies too) to his own agenda, that’s why she went to Kara. That’s not grasping a thing. Mhm, if you call that an apology then suit yourself. She is not saving the world, she is helping once again other people fixing the shit she created.
Feel infuriated as much as you want, because I don’t care? Especially when it comes from a person who tells others to take a step back while being totally narrow minded about Mon-El and karamel.
3.Because actors, prodcuers, writers call SC a female friendship. Mel did that in her last interview. See whatever you want but maybe stop forcing people to ship a horribly abusive ship.
Well… no. Kara is the heart and soul of the Supergirl. Alex is her most important relationship. Lena is an important friend, who doesn’t deserve it yet, but we all know Kara is the Paragon of Hope so of course she is going to forgive her.
I know you people think sc dated because they breathed in one room, but in s2 Kara dated, had sex, kissed, cuddled and enjoyed her time with Mon-El.
Yeah, they love each other as friends. It was said more than once.
That’s your delusion, you are free to do it.
Kara done that to Alex too, so you are saying she is romantically in love with her sister or something? If bringing people food is romantic and damn, most of the people I know loves me, god.
No, lena is not Kara’s love of her life.
Cool, you are not going to hate me because I ship karamel, I’m touched.
Sorry that you are going to be super disappointed in the end of the show I guess.
You will hate my hate – what’s the point of it?
Once again, because I don’t think you understand the point of this blog or read the description – it’s gathering receipts of assholes who cross tag and hate on the actors. Maybe go and search #gross hate or #cast hate on this blog so you can see how amazing your fandom is. Have fun.
I would rather eat my own shit than starting shipping the victim of abuse with her abuser.
Thanks and no :)

Supergirl 6x14 Magical Thinking
Supergirl 6x14 Magical Thinking
What's not to love about an episode that starts focused on Alex's dextrous fingerwork and ends on Kara telling Lena she's going to use her fingers? Actually, quite a bit, and most of it hanging on William Dey being embedded into the Tower and being presented as flawless in personality since the Earth Prime reboot. There's a continuity issue that Andrea made everyone's contract so they couldn't work for competitors, yet here Dey says he'll take his story to the Daily Planet if Andrea gets fussy as his boss about his boundaries (is it an Earth Prime reset?). As with season 5 and his quick access to the DEO, it's an insult to Lena being denied and the inherent suspicion behind her motives. Why do they trust Dey so much? If gaining public support is a desire of the SuperFriends, why doesn't Nia or Kara have this role as they are also reporters (in theory) for CatCo? Nia is constantly usurped by him, so even though she says she'll help Lena with the intuitive aspects of magic, it's Dey who provides the breakthrough with his baking experience. Whatever help Nia offers is off screen and her onscreen role is comic relief when Lena's early spells go awry.
In the poor use of characters, Brainy is totally absent in this episode, and his actions are alluded to by are-they-romantic-again-or-not Nia. This is a pattern of the show - Nia and Brainy inform others of their status, Alex and Kelly do, and Kara and Lena do (and I think when M'Gann was here it still applied). So many parallels between the canon romances and the coded assumption ones. In poor use of screen time, Nyxly and Kara each figure out that the humanity totem (kinda weird that the universe has this species everywhere but hey) is giving Nyxly all the feels while the bipeds on Earth take joy in causing suffering. I don't need to hear the same thing twice, especially when there's seven episodes left and the main cast are absent from episodes to make space for repetition or characters that diminish others (*cough* Dey's tour of the Tower is longer than Lena's *cough*). In terms of plot, I'd be stoked if the seven totems turn out to be rainbow coloured. The order of activation is unknown, so Nia decides to pick the Dream totem as that's her forte - they only have to stop Nyxly from getting them, so hiding it in a box will do for now. I was initially irked that it was a male fight club that was chosen for the Humanity totem as seeing women in sports is sorely lacking representation, but then I realised it was about glee in violence for the sake of it and that's definitely a man problem.
Dansen have great progress. Kelly is absent from the Tower as unlike Kara and Nia (and Alex and Brainy and Lena, and I assume J'onn pays with his PI gig), she cares about the job that pays the bills. Esme nearly had a foster home, and during Guardian/Sentinel fight scenes they have domestic conversations about the girl's progress and have time to show off the rainbow friendship bracelet Esme made as a thank you. It's fine until the foster parents use her fire breathing / mimicry alien ability to fend off attackers, and Guardian and Sentinel step in to save the day. The final scene should have more social issues in it, like calling the cops for child endangerment and banning those parents from fostering or adopting ever again. But what we do yet is this silent communication that Esme is the perfect adoption for Alex and Kelly.
As with last week, the through thread belongs to Lena. She's the one who is tasked with embracing magic to save the day, after her initial the-press-have-never-been-good-to-me-why-is-there-a-reporter-coming response to Dey. I'm confused about J'onn wanting to keep Lena Luthor's identity secret, as there was a pretty big court case at the start of the season, and she openly worked with Supergirl at the Earth Prime DEO. It can only be in reference to her budding magic ability, and we have another hero in need of a mentor.
The episode itself belongs to Supercorp. From the opening surprise games' night where Lena assures Kara will be home soon, akin to a prior games' night where Kara knew Lena was travelling to Newfoundland. Kara is still desperate for quick resolutions since returning from the Phantom Zone, to the point of recklnessness. I'm pretty sure every scene they have together there's no-one between them, until Dey coughs to announce his presence and Nia escorts him away from the 'parents' arguing. It's this symbolic romantic framing, a continuation of the 'no homo' he represented in season 5 and my biggest fear is Dey becoming Lena's new partner akin to getting James, Kara's previous ex.M second biggest fear is the Nyxly connection ruining a key Supercorp moment with an emotional outburst. I trust in Benoist and McGrath's performances, and there's so much heart eyes and innuendo emphasis which draws a character breaking laugh from McGrath akin to the secret handshake last season.
Ah yes, last season, home of Kara's "For a friend like you there are no boundaries" and Lena's Non Nocere stripping people of their humanity for the greater good. They are both in a better place, able to have arguements respectfully, and helping each other through their fears. Kara's fear is not protecting people from Nyxly, while Lena's is continuing a family legacy of unintentional harm through magic. Healthy boundaries, pushing people out of their comfort zones, pointing out what happens in the pursuit of the greater good. The compromise is, instead of making a few people royal assholes, making more people moderate assholes until Nyxly is outed and the totem found. I can't pick a favourite scene, but Kara being Lena's bodyguard and effortlessly shoving an angry white man back so Lena can pick flowers is up there, especially as Dey is getting beaten up in the background and Kara leaves him to it. Then there's the cooldown at the end, where (Kara?) has set up comfortable furniture in the Tower training room so she and Lena can relax and eat potstickers and make innuendos about using fingers. It's so... domestic? I mean, technically Lena's magic book was posted to her apartment (however that is funded) so this isn't Lena's home (I'm guessing Brainy sleeps on the Legion ship now people don't care about using future tech). When Kara got back from the Phantom Zone, Alex and she pledged they would get through things together but they haven't had a solo scene since, instead finding laughter and growth through their (non) canon romantic partners. Food is a love language, and the CW said dumplings were for girlfriends. Here we are. Queerbait until canon.

Alright. One last time. A list of stuff from Supergirl episodes 6x19 and 6x20, “The Last Gauntlet” and “Kara”
Let’s go.
SPOILERS!
Okay I have to start this list off with a disclaimer because usually, these posts are spaces for me to share positive reactions to the episodes, since the fandom tends to be overly negative and full of bad-faith takes on...everything. And I hate contributing to their yelling.
But this is a situation where...the list will get complain-y. XD
Like, I’ll be real. I was all set to just coast through these final episodes on good vibes, not caring about the weird plot turns that would come...
But then everything changed with the Fire Nation Attacked 6x18 aired.
It was a...really awful episode, actually. And soured my perception of the finale as a result.
Still! I wanted to give SG the benefit of the doubt, see where the chips fell...
And there was...some good chip-falling!
...But also a whole lotta like. Quite questionable chip-falling.
TL;DR, if you would prefer to leave the show with mostly positive feelings, it might be best to skip to the end of this post...or skip the post entirely.
Like, I have good things to say!
...But I’m also gonna complain. XD
Okay, enough stalling. Here we go!
(Oh, also, apologies in advance if I don’t hit everything/misremember something/misquote etc. I don’t wanna go back and watch both episodes and I tried to keep track of my thoughts as I went but. *shrug*)
So right off the bat, they remind us about the Totems in the recap (I think) and Mxy’s like, ‘they were scattered all over the known universe!’
But in fact, they were scatted all over...Earth. And mostly Europe?
I realize, for budgetary reasons, they had to be in locations on Earth. But why not make that a Thing? Why not say they were being hidden on a ‘backwater planet’ (Black Mercy!Alura’s words, not mine! XD) or something?
Also feels extremely weird that the Super Friends can just go in and take these artifacts? Reminds me of the Not Great medallion stuff from the Acrata backstory.
Anyways.
Love a Fort Rozz and Omegahedron mention! :D Good!
Hate the way William was just a covered corpse on the floor and no one seemed to care! BAD.
All of the William stuff was extremely bad.
Peak cringe: his funeral, where we didn’t really see...any of his family, or friends. It was just all the Super Friends, in a weirdly-shot scene, with an odd music selection and copious amounts of soft focus.
It was two seconds long, everything felt perfunctory, Mon-El and Winn didn’t even KNOW him and were there to just support Kara, I guess, but none of that was articulated because there was no time for it.
(Like, the last time Winn saw Kara and Will, Kara was tentatively considering dating him. The fact that there was no, ‘hey, Kara, how do you feel? Are you okay?’ was just. Ugh.)
Hated every moment of it.
It felt shallow and tacked-on and I’m gonna SAVE MY WILLIAM RANT for later.
Okay, back to the beginning-ish of the episode, I did like the conversation between Lena and Andrea when she first appears, it felt like something that should’ve come earlier in the season, and perhaps taken place between Lena and Kara.
Like, this was really all you needed, back in one of those earlier episodes where Lena is suddenly the Voice of Reason for Kara: “I’ve done worse, rationalized more.”
Instead, they spent most of the season couching it in Lena’s renewed mom issues.
Not great, Bob!
A thing I liked: Kara’s “It’s my job to keep my family safe.”
A core issue! (That was poorly articulated throughout these episodes and arguably this season but I’ll GET TO MY RANTS IN A BIT. XD)
Nyxly’s scenes with Esme were fun and I laughed at her story being so decidedly PG-13, like. We don’t mention throat-slitting to five year olds, Nyxly!
The location for the Prague stuff was pretty!
But HOO BOY THE KARA AND ALEX CONFLICT. MMMMMMM. Add it to the rant pile.
The whole ‘we’ll harness the power of the sun’ plot reminded me of several things!
Late 90s/early 2000s Sunny D commercials! “UNLEASH THE POWER OF THE SUN!”
Tumblr media
Some imagery from All-Star Superman and Supergirl Rebirth wherein the Kryptonians literally merge with the sun/sunlight.
Here’s Supergirl one, which is an homage to the All-Star image.
Tumblr media
I liked the shot of Lex staring into Nxyly’s orb, with the blue light reflecting on his eyes.
And as much as I enjoy seeing Lillian and Lex chew the scenery, I gotta say...here, in your last episodes, devoting what felt like...a lot of time! To the Lex romance drama, and a new Lillian conflict, it was just...
Trying. It was trying. I wanted to be seeing...literally anything else. XD
But hey, props to Nxyly for dumping Lex’s butt.
(Could we not have taken the time allotted to Lillian and Lex and instead done a last-minute Nxyly redemption??? I mean, Lena got last-minute mom closure! Certainly, you could’ve had a heel turn with Nxyly!)
(In an episode full of ‘...wha???’ I would’ve happily accepted that wha!!! XD)
Alex, on the bridge: Am I crazy for doing this?
Me, audibly, at my TV screen: Yes, Alex. You are. (ANOTHER FOR THE RANT PILE.)
Also Kara, GO. TO. THERAPY. PLEASE.
Loved Lillian’s weaponized heels.
Kara, Lex, and Nyxly with the AllStone fragments:
Tumblr media
“They’re empowering themselves by disempowering everyone else!”
Subtle™ XD
Would like to note: J’onn had complete faith in Kara. “Give Supergirl a chance.”
SO C’MON, ALEX. GEEZ.
Oooh, the rant pile grows deep. XD
The monochrome/selective color effect was really cool!
LOVED Brainy’s Legion Crown, as that’s pulled RIGHT from the Bendis/Sook Legion book!
Tumblr media
The score throughout was lovely.
Okay, time to admit that I didn’t actively have fun with the episodes until about 10-15 minutes into the second hour, when they started bringing in the guest stars and old villains.
Like. The thing that got the biggest, genuine reaction from me was Winn’s: EASY PEEZY LEMON SQUEEZY.
OUR BOY!!! OR TOYBOYMAN!
(Also I like to imagine that Nia’s concerned look when the big group of villains shows up is a little bit of: Okay, I have no clue who these guys are, I was still in school while you guys were fighting them?)
And then Jimmy! “Take ‘em, Sis.”
YEAAAAH OUR BOOOOOYSSSS!!!
I was even happy to see ol’ Wise-Beard himself, Mon-El!
Because man, it at least felt...fun. And enjoyable to watch.
And how could I forget, ELIZA WITH A SHOTGUN!?!?!!?!?!
Why is she there?!?! How did she know to come?!?! I don’t care, I loved it.
“Maybe in another life I was a Kryptonian.” “Only in the movies.”
Me: They finally did the thing.
Tumblr media
“Ah, the two with the good hair.” Lex’s hair envy on full display, nice.
I also unabashedly loved all of the people of National City coming to back up the Super Friends, it reminded me of arguably the first big Super Friends outing, “Worlds Finest”, where National City showed up to protect Supergirl and help Flash stop Silver Banshee and Livewire.
Aaaaaand just when they’re setting up a cool big fight...it’s over! Phantoms show up and just. Remove the threat.
The big threat that was SO DANGEROUS and causing Kara to FLIP OUT for an entire season. Just. Gone. In under a minute.
.....
.....
......
Tumblr media
I say again: Hated William’s funeral. Hated. It.
Such a crummy way to handle his character, and his death.
Side note: I understand that they’re necessary for actor comfort/perhaps budget reasons but the green gloves they use for Brainy’s hands remind me of those toy Hulk gloves you can buy.
Another thing I love: CAT GRANT RETURNS?!?!?!?!
Oh, I missed you, Cat. You were an objectively horrible boss, but I appreciate the ‘let’s behave like rational adults’ energy that you bring to this group of adults in need of adultier adults.
I’m actually gonna save the Cat and the job stuff for my...what’s the opposite of a rant? Geeking out pile? Yes. That. XD
We got one single Danvers couch scene, in the span of two 40-minute episodes. Ugh.
And then the wedding, which takes up the back half of the final episode, and it had a lot of good bits but also, weirdly, apparently there were a lot of scenes that were removed from the American broadcast? To my knowledge, nothing huge, but then I haven’t really looked into it. I don’t have a strong desire to do so because it seems most of the clips are coming out of corners of the fandom I’d like to just. Ignore for the rest of time. XD
We end on a game night as is right and good and lemme tell ya, for as complaint-heavy as this post has been, I will admit to utterly warm, fuzzy feelings of happiness with that last lovely shot of Kara, being introduced to the world as Supergirl and like.
We’ve seen Kara without her glasses, dressed in civilian clothes often! This is not new!
But gosh, it feels new here. It feels wonderful and positive and hopeful and right and I wish more of the finale felt that way.
Like. The endpoints are good. We knew these endpoints were coming.
But the journey has been so...strange. And sometimes actively bad!
So yeah, time for the rant portions, I suppose. XD BRACE YERSELVES.
RANT #1: The Treatment of William
This show has never permanently killed off a character, not even characters played by actors who were leaving the show. James, Maggie, Mon-El, Winn, Sam, Cat--none of them were killed. The door was always left open for them to potentially return. It was a refreshing aspect for one of these CW superhero dramas, where characters are often killed off for the shock factor/drama when the actor wants out.
So to have your one big, permanent death be William, a character and actor who has received an inordinate amount of hatred and harassment for doing his job? No. No thanks. No.
And like. I kind of assumed they would use his death as a bigger springboard--flawed logic but logic nonetheless, by saying: well, we broke up him and Kara, and we don’t really know how to use him effectively...let’s actually make him really important. His death serves as the motivation the Super Friends need to unite and stop the bad guys!
That did not happen here.
No strong emotions from the Super Friends. Alex is more concerned for Esme’s safety than the fact that a man she knew personally died defending her daughter.
I understand they are pressing stakes! And that she’s very worried about Esme!
But this, along with some other stuff that Alex does, just makes her come across as calloused.
All of the Super Friends come across as calloused, since William’s death is not given any room to breathe.
(And like. They never unpacked any feelings from Kara re: the ‘break up’-- if you can even call it that since they barely developed the relationship--or like. Any aspect of her friendship with Will because there was no time. It was fridging but they didn’t even use the fridging well.)
RANT #2: Alex and Kara
So, we know that Alex can be a jerk. That’s fine. In fact, I love that about her. It often makes for interesting character conflicts.
But, wow. The narrative...sure did decide that Alex was justified in all her terrible decisions and behavior, huh?
Like. This didn’t come across as Alex spiraling (which I think is how we’re meant to view it?) mostly she was just behaving like an asshole.
I get that the show really wants us to be invested in Alex as The Mom and her relationship with Esme, but we haven’t really gotten much Mom Alex content?
(Which is why I laughed out loud in a not-fun way @ Eliza’s line about Alex parenting Esme with more wisdom than she ever had like. Did ya pull that from a fanfic on AO3??? I mean maybe, in time, Alex will be a better parent in that she’ll avoid some of the stuff Eliza struggled with but Alex and Kelly have had Esme for...a couple of months? Maybe??? And most of that has been spent like. In Crisis mode!)
We had nice solo-content with Kelly and Esme back in the outset of the season, but nothing like that for Alex? At least that I can recall? Nothing where the two sit down and just bond. Esme is very cute, and the actress did a really nice job with the material, but it kinda felt like they were just. Hoping we’d become attached to her through sheer cuteness alone without doing any work on Alex’s side.
I’m more invested in her relationship with Aunt Kara because they had those scenes about the powers, which is not good when you want to sell Alex’s MOM MODE, ACTIVATE.
So, yeah. Kinda hated the Danvers Sister conflict here. And while in the broadest of strokes, their actions sort of make sense...I don’t know. At the very end of six seasons, to have your characters slide back into old habits doesn’t feel like a response to trauma so much as just. Recycling old plots that they should’ve grown past.
Like! After six years of beating the odds, Alex really doesn’t believe Kara can save her daughter??? SERIOUSLY????
It doesn’t feel authentic. It doesn’t feel like ‘scared mom Alex’ it feels like Alex being an asshole and an obstacle to overcome because the plot demands it.
Also, I was waiting until the very end to see if they’d follow up at all on Kara and Alex being like, ‘we'll get through this and heal together’ and nope! Nope. Nothing there. Alex is like, ‘got your back!’ and then they have no scenes until 6x18 which was just. Full of weird, awful character stuff.
Speaking of weird, awful character stuff.
RANT #3: Kara
My darling sunshine girl.
So, I’ve actually felt like season six did a fairly decent job of balancing their huge cast while still giving Kara meaningful stuff to do in each episode, and as such, Kara felt way more present and attached to everything that was happening than in past seasons.
Was it perfect? No. But it felt like a decided improvement over season 5.
I also felt like Kara’s very obvious spiral into complete panic/anxiety over unresolved trauma was a pretty solid through-line as the season went on.
I was kind of expecting something similar to season 3, and season 5; the show has a habit of pushing off Kara’s emotional responses to the stress build-up until the last possible second (like the Mon-El stuff and the Lena stuff.) So I was like, ‘ah, yes! They will build this up until Kara has to confront it, and then we will get nice introspection.’
But uhhhh...no. Nope. That...that didn’t happen.
We got like. Fragmented, poorly-articulated ‘lessons’ that Kara had to learn across all the episodes, but it was really unclear because Kara would keep acting all stressed-out and panicked, even though in the previous episode there was supposed positive growth.
Also a lot of times they were lessons she already learned. Not just in this season, but in prior seasons.
I appreciate the show bringing Orlando back, but framing it like Kara, MASTER OF THE HOPE SPEECH, couldn’t figure out that she needed A HOPE SPEECH to inspire the masses, was very dumb!
It was like they were manufacturing flaws for Kara at the very last second. Like. ‘Oh no, we have a character who is too good and noble! Better make her act completely contrary to her firmly entrenched principles she’s had since day one.’
And the most frustrating thing about all of my ranting is that the writers did not need to do this. They had already established good, interesting character conflicts, that were rooted in stuff that has existed for the past six seasons!
Like, all the pieces were in place! Everything was RIGHT THERE!
But they chose to like. Go backwards??? And undo character growth and build new, weird ways for everyone to arrive at their endpoints???
It’s just very odd. IDK what happened.
The thing about season 5, as annoying as it was, was that everyone was painfully in-character all the time.
Here, in the 11th hour, it’s like. Characterization was tossed out the window to make room for some opinions on empowerment.
(WHICH THEY WERE DEVELOPING WITH MORE NUANCE AND GRACE LIKE, SEVEN EPISODES AGO! WITHOUT NEEDING TO SAY ‘EMPOWERMENT’ FIFTY TIMES!!!!)
Also, I get what they were trying to say here, that everyone can be their own hero, that Kara doesn’t need to shoulder all this responsibility. That’s a good lesson. And they were BUILDING THAT. And BUILDING IT WELL.
But at the end, instead of centering it on Kara’s very real, very obviously established trauma and season-long freak out, they were like, ‘Kara becoming Supergirl was built on a flawed premise!’ or whatever the terrible line was.
Kara became Supergirl to prevent a plane crash. No amount of self-empowerment was going to save the people on that flight.
Like. Don’t get me wrong. It’s a very lovely theme, and I like that Kara can conceivably take a nap now, if she wants, but. They didn’t have to tear down the idea of Supergirl/superheroes to do it.
AND ALSO. They covered this in season one. CAT GRANT was warning Kara about people becoming reliant on Supergirl to save them, and like...yeah! You probably don’t need to be out rescuing cats from trees, Kara. BUT YOU SHOULD MAYBE BE AROUND FOR STUFF LIKE PLANE CRASHES AND MAGICAL IMPS TRYING TO DESTROY THE UNIVERSE?!??!?!?!
It’s just weird! It’s just weird that they had all this set up and decided to use none of it.
But I guess it wouldn’t be a true season of Supergirl if there wasn’t solid, well-paced build up in the front half only to get rushed, weird plot-heavy nonsense in the back half, complete with wild swerves in the 11th hour as they hurry to tie bows on everything. XD
You were doing so well...
RANT #4: She who shall not be named.
Yeah I don’t like what they did here, with her, in this final season.
Basically: I get that they needed to sell the friendship, and I get that they were trying to give Kara another friend/person outside of Alex since they were building up Alex’s relationship with Kelly/plot with Esme. But making her the person to keep Kara in check, when they did not hold her one bit accountable for the nonsense she pulled for an entire season (not to mention she was gonna SKIP TESTIFYING AT LEX’S TRIAL and she was conveniently out of town for the blind spots and biases episode) was just. Unpleasant to sit through.
They never fixed/addressed how one-sided the friendship was, they never had any nice moments of just hanging out and genuinely talking as friends.
(Also I’m gonna say it, I’m gonna SAY IT: She doesn’t have the acting chops to match the Danvers sisters stuff. Like. The reason we love the Danvers sisters is the actors’ ability to sell that relationship; you cannot swap out Alex in the final season with a character who never actually sold the thinly-written friendship. IT DOESN’T. WORK.)
Add in the nonsense of the real world fandom built up around her and yeah, done talking about this one. XD
RANT #5: Pacing and Focus
There was such nice, deliberate pace at the outset of this season, and a slightly narrower scope that allowed for good character stuff.
And that...fell to the wayside, unfortunately.
Which is to say: Really loved the front half of this season. This back half...mmm.
I agree with what other folks have stated, that it felt like they took all of the trending topics for ‘Supergirl’ on twitter and built their big plot points around them. So these fanservice-y things don’t feel earned or organic, they just feel like the writers saying, ‘well, a lot of people mentioned this on social media, I guess we have to do it now.’
Okay, TIME FOR POSITIVES:
Peta Sargent as Nyxly. Honestly I think she’s my favorite SG villain. She was fun like Lex, but didn’t wear out her welcome. She could do the scenery-chewing, but also genuine, emotional beats. And her villain outfit was EXCELLENT. 20/10, wish she’d been redeemed!
KARA AS EDITOR-IN-CHIEF OF CATCO MAGAZINE! YES! YES! YES!
Folks who’ve read my Cool Aunt Kara AU (which, hey, Kara is now a Cool Aunt in canon! Woo!) may know that I’ve kinda always preferred Kara not so much in a reporter role, but more as an editor. Still in journalism/media, but in a way that is distinct/separate from Clark and Lois’ beat.
(...I think that’s in one of the one-shots? If not, then it’s in the notes somewhere, and will eventually happen. Spoilers for that ‘verse, I guess. XD)
Anyways I love this.
I love that she gets to be Kara Danvers, and Kara Zor-El, and Supergirl. I love that she gets to be all the things, in whatever way she wants to be all the things. And I love that the show is basically like: And they lived happily ever after, on this Earth, in this timeline, and continued to have fun adventures.
It’s exactly the ending I wanted for her. :) :) :)
...Just. Wish we’d taken a different journey to this point. XD
Listen. LISTEN. Given how hard they were going on, ‘Kara needs to be held accountable for her actions as Supergirl!’ I was legitimately concerned they were gonna do a Gold-K situation, so the fact that they left everything alone re: superpowers is a solid win, IMO. XD
CAT FREAKIN’ GRANT RETURNS ON GLORIOUS, GLORIOUS GREEN SCREEN TO BERATE KARA ONE LAST TIME!
I’m so happy.
Another thing I love? NOT A SINGLE SHIP SAILED FOR KARA.
Like, do I hate how they treated William, and do I think the writers are cowards for pulling the same garbage that they did with James in season 2? And somehow making it WORSE??? Yes.
Would I have been totally fine with flirty banter with Will, had he not been fridged? Certainly. William was a nice man, and Kara liked him, which was good enough for me.
But if I am being honest, as a woman who has zero desire to date/be involved in a romantic relationship ever, it is refreshing to see a female lead who is also in no rush to date someone, and ends the series happy and surrounded by dear family and friends and is not shamed for it.
No jokes made at her expense. No ‘woe is me, I’ll never find true contentment in life.’ Just. Chill with who she is and where she is in life. Maybe she’ll find love! Maybe she won’t! And either way is fine!
Also I know the fandom is gonna be a nightmare overall as the result of this finale, and I’m certain a lot of folks will claim it’s a complete failure, that the show is trash, the writers suck, etc. etc.
And, to be clear, the finale was a failure, yes.
They seemed to lose faith in their own lead at the very end of this endeavor. To go from Rovner nearly claiming that Kara’s the most heroic character in the Arrowverse (and she is, in my humble, definitely-totally-unbiased opinion) to being like, ‘The notion of Supergirl is inherently flawed!’ is...certainly a choice.
But I’ll never fully agree with the fandom, that the show as a whole is bad, or that they’ve ruined Kara/Supergirl.
Honestly? Even with all my complaints, and issues with season 6...I love what the show has done for Kara Zor-El.
I remember coming across those early 2000s comics as a pre-teen/teenager and knowing, but not being able to articulate it just yet, that these books called Supergirl were actually not for me. They were not for girls. They were for the middle-aged men writing and drawing them.
Like. Images from this run are still used in DC branding. The ‘Supergirl’ icon on the DC Universe app is a Mike Turner drawing.
THIS IS WHAT THEY POTENTIALLY HAD TO WORK WITH. (CW: partial nudity)
Tumblr media
This image was not only a panel in the book but apparently was like. A LIMITED VARIANT COVER. THIS. THIS IMAGE. FOR SUPERGIRL’S BIG TRIUMPANTH RETURN AFTER BEING DEAD FOR 20 YEARS.
But then here comes this show. This show that says, ‘No, no. Look at these other comics. Look at who this character was originally. She’s a young woman who has lost so much, who has gone through such trauma, but she devotes her life to saving others. To doing the right thing because she can. She’s earnest and kind and a bit of a goof. She can also throw people into the sun, if she wants to. But she doesn’t! You’re gonna love her.’
I will always be so very grateful to the show for introducing me to that Kara Zor-El.
And Alex, and J’onn, and Winn, James, Cat, Eliza, Kelly, Nia, Brainy, and YEAH, EVEN YOU TOO, MON-EL. The whole cast, who made these characters real, and who sold some absolutely SAPPY, ENDEARING, DORKY STUFF. XD
So, in summary: 6x18 through 6x20? Bad. No thanks. Not a fan. But the show? Kara? And where she ends up? Love it. Love it so much.
...BUT NO KRYPTO, DAMN IT. HOW DARE THEY!?!??!?! XD

Today I will be addressing SuperCorp and some of the issues that have been floating around about fandom. And I will be saying some stuff that both is for it and could be used against it even though I am ultimately a super big supercorp fan. Like it says in the tags you're free to express your opinion but they will not be changing mine but I am always open-minded to opinions that can actually be explained and eloquently expressed (receipt's needed) and aren't just basic. Also just so what is noted I have been a part of this fandom since the first episode I have literally shipped Kara with everyone from Lucy to Cat even James. But Lena has just stuck out the most for me but I'm Equal opportunity.
Number #1, Lena's character in no way shape or form has ever been xenophobic she has never once shown any hate towards aliens her problem with Kara in season 5 Wasn't because she was an alien it was because she was a "Super" like Kara could have been a flying purple fucking octopus from the planet of shzjxfdf and Lena wouldn't have gave two fucks but no she was a "Super"but let's dig deeper on that point if we really look at why she was mad it wasn't even the whole alien aspect it was because she wasn't told and no I don't think she's entitled to it but I do think it played into the fact of a trust issue she has with the fact that people would think she would be just like Lex if she had been told Sooner. Which is disproved in 5x13 (also personal note: I also think she wouldn't have reacted half as bad if Kara had just told her that night at game night or the next day when she wanted to probably still would have been pissed but not to the same extent). But okay with that being said I do disagree with the kryptonite entrapment torture scene and basically half the s*** she did in season 5 it was shown that she truly can tap into her Luthor side and be dark when wanted but fortunately she does always return to the light and in all fairness it has been shown several times that Kara has a dark side of her own that could rival the luthors.
Number #2, I do disagree with the abuse of actresses and actors just because of a ship and or character they play don't blame them it's just a job they have I think Melissa and Katie do a beautiful job of bringing Kara and Lena's characters to life couldn't imagine anybody else playing them.
Number #3, I also will say about the reason bombarding of comments on Nicole's social media at least I saw the video via tiktok in that video was fucking hilarious I love Nia, Dreamer, and Nicole in general she's funny and beautiful and is an advocate for everything good in life and well it is normal to even ask other actors if they have the scoop on anything it does not mean we need to be bombarding them in videos on something relating to their character or their love of something a simple comment or so maybe but what I saw NO.
Number #4, The William of it all well I think though his character seems like a nice gentleman he also seems to be bland as hell also I did not know he was a POC to be honest I thought he was a tan white man and we'll be doing further research on people in the future as I can learn from my ignorance also but unrelated I did not know that the woman who played Maggie was apparently just a tan white woman I thought she was of some sort of Hispanic descent but apparently not according to various things I've read on here tonight... But anyways back to William I feel like a lot of people might have perceived him as a white man therefore that might play into the whole scenario of people hate that they just want two white woman together when it proves if she was a man they wouldn't give two f**** about it whether that's true or not I don't know but mine two cents.
Number #5, I will never bash someone for being for or against a certain ship and or character and well I am allowed to certainly disagree with their opinion all opinions are valid because we all see the world a different way some see it bright and shiny and others like I'll admit myself see it through the glasses of trauma. And I think that's why we all have the opinions we do most of the time when you like a shipper character it's because you relate to them somehow even if it's the most minor thing to someone else it might be huge for you. You never know what the person on the other side of the screen is going through in those characters or ship or fanfiction might have literally saved their lives.
Sidenote: Like okay personal story I was been both mentally and sexually abused as a child so I relate to both Kara and Lena respective childhood trauma so that draws me to them. And I kind of see them both as the opposite attract trope (two side of the same coin) because well we never fully get over trauma Kara had a great support system with the Danvers whereas Lena didn't get that with the luthors I mean sure she had Lex at first but even that was only to a certain extent because of his psychopathy that was starting to manifest he couldn't perceive human emotions the same as Lena who in my opinion is just a big mushy nerd who can be a badass when needed as evident by the season 6 episodes after she's quit L-Corp she's constantly trying to help out inventing new stuff and she's wondering how Nia's suit works and it just shows that she just has a curious mind and also she looks happier even with the guilt she feels over Kara's phantom zone incident when Nia called her a part of the family that smile could lit up a city all she's ever wanted is to belong and I can relate to that therefore to her.
Number #6, I feel like this should have been addressed in earlier number but as far as sexuality goes I would want to believe Kara is pansexual because of everything I've ever read and saw I don't believe she perceived sexuality like humans do because of her Kryptonian upbringing for the first good chunk of the life. Like even though she says she's not gay in the first episode, A. It was the first episode so they didn't even know where the story was going in future seasons if they got them also that means maybe she just didn't perceive herself as the Earth's definition of gay. B. Even in the first season she made a comment about how she bought Lucy was gorgeous and hell she would date her. C. She made some comments about Irma and other woman that don't sound totally heterosexual and don't get me wrong women can admire the beauty and intelligence of other women without it being sexual but as a bisexual woman it just struck a cord in me you can tell the difference when it's coming from a straight woman mouth. Now on the subject of her and Lena strictly I do think there are instances of "queerbaiting"because just because you perceive they haven't been promised to us doesn't mean that some of us haven't picked up on things or the fact that they're simply queerbating because somehow they do hype up Kara and Lena to keep a nice chunk of the audience who ships them mainly those of the gay variety interested in the show which is also considered queerbaiting. Also the fact that they've been called sisters or family or my personal favorite "that's what friends are for"doesn't mean crap because honestly at this point the overuse of friends just sounds more like they're trying to convince themselves than us.*** Also I don't know about you but even on the basic level of things they've done I've never shown half those feelings towards my friends and the ones I have it's because I started to think of them as more than friends.
Now with Lena's sexuality no they have never shown her as anything besides straight canonically but don't get me wrong she totally sends off that college experimentation vibe especially with Andrea for some reason but that may just be me.
Number #7, my main point is let's just be kind to one another because guess what there is toxicity from every ship in a fandom there will always be shitty people on both sides and then there will be those of us who just want to see the characters together for one reason or another and yes I'm not afraid to admit that part of my reasons I want to see two gorgeous woman kiss sue me LOL.
Number #8, the conclusion of my rant is that how about we leave the hating to the ones who want to do that and the rest of us like adults or whatever your age is in the fandom that has any type of maturity behave because I truly do wish the best and in the end well I hope they end up together I'm realistic that they probably won't especially due to the CW Network motto of "homophobia and racism"because they've already broken up several good gay and interracial couples on that show. But at the end of the day my true wish is just that all of the characters end up happy and healthy.
Best of luck to all shippers out there anti and supercorp and or any other couple alike may we try to make it out of this with a modicum of sanity and even if they fail us we always have fanfiction thank you and good night.

So my thoughts
1. They turned Alex into a disgusting jerk who had the fucking nerve to blame Kara for what happened to Esme. They completely screwed over Chyler with horrid writing. I’m willing to bet Chyler cringed when she read her lines. When Lena was willing to let millions of people be changed into phantoms just to save Kara, and Alex wouldn’t let her, because you know it was wrong to put millions of people’s lives above Kara’s. LMAO only to turn around act like a complete DICK WAD to Kara, and was willing to allow the world to get destroyed by Nxly, so that she could get a little girl that she’s known all of 3 weeks back. I don’t give 2 shits if she went back to being the old Alex, when she got Esme back. Her character to me will always be a complete ASS WIPE forever..............so yeah the POS writers ruined ALEX.
2. They have been RUINING Supergirl for years now. They made her this feeble women who constantly NEEDS saving by either Lena or Mon El. It’s disgusting and I’ve never seen SHOWRUNNERS AND WRITERS actively DESPISE their own lead character on the show. Supergirl once beat up Superman, and now she’s nothing but a shell of her former self, and I am thoroughly disgusted. I think it’s a good thing that she has put away the cape, because quite frankly just like she said she is the weakest person on the planet.
3. The writers, showrunners, and CW Executives CAN SUCK IT...............you are all horrible people for the over the top queerbaiting. Kara by the end of episode 20 must have called Lena her friend several times, and I took it as a big huge 2 middle fingers in Supercorps faces.
4. It’s good that they killed off Lillian she’s a complete menace, and would have caused more trouble in the future, and or tried to get Lex out of the PZ.
5. Everyone else gets their romantic happy ending except Kara and Lena. Even Jonn gets Mcgann back at some point........but poor ol Kara and Lena.
6. Did I mention how horrid the writing has been since season 2, and how they completely destroyed Supergirl for me?
7. At least Mon El and Kara didn’t go blissfully off into the future together and the Karamel shippers got ripped off too. The Supergirl show and the writers made sure that everyone got SHIT ON.
8. I’m glad Nia got Brainy back but so now the big brain will sometime in the future cease to exist? I can’t tell you just how stupid this shit is. They put brainy and Nia through hell for two episodes thinking that they had to part ways, only to turn around and have brainy give a big FUCK YOU to the big brain that will die sometime in the future along with every members of Brainy’s race???? Like why the hell did they even go there talk about stupid!!!!
Okay well that’s it and all I can say is that I am so glad this STUPID LAME SHOW IS DONE. I knew by the end of episode 14 that they weren’t going to put Supercorp as a romantic canon, and I stuck with that.....I feel vindicated that I was right, but still pissed over the gross horrid queerbaiting for years. Although I didn’t waste years on this show. I only started watching at the beginning of season 5, and I binged watched all the other seasons. Season 1 was truly the best Season, even if it didn’t have Lena in it. It’s been nice interacting with some people here I enjoyed it especially you @leighlew3. You seemed to be one of the only few people here with the voice of reason so thank you. Perhaps I will see some of you with future new ships we’ll see. As for me I am done with the CW for good. They screwed me over with CLEXA, and Supergirl. Those fucking losers will never do that to me again. I just hope many people here realize that giving the CW any publicity on Twitter with their shows is counter productive for the LGBT community. The CW doesn’t not deserve your support so please think twice about giving it to them.

Why Batwoman 2x01 was so good:
1. The writers managed to strike a great balance between paying respect to Kate Kane and introducing Ryan. Kate Kane as a character is, of course, significant to DC. She’s an important source of representation as a Jewish lesbian, and she has a large legacy/mythos within the larger DC Comics history. Batwoman first showed respect to Kate as a character by wisely chosing to not kill her off. Next, there’s one scene where Ryan is reading up on Kate, developing new understanding and respect in the process, and every few seconds the camera cuts over to where Mary and Luke are reading up on Ryan, similarly gaining understanding and respect for Ryan. I think this scene effectively facilitate the batsuit’s—as a mantle, as a symbol, and as a mythos—being passed on to Ryan. It paid a large amount of respect to Kate as a character, pointing out some of the most significant aspects of her character, and sort of drew Ryan into Kate’s mythos as Batwoman in a way that helps facilitate her becoming Batwoman - she comes to learn and respect the history and the gravity of Batwoman as a person, as an entity, as a figure of justice, and as an icon; and as a result, she can now carry on that legacy and expand it, using it to bring even more good to the world.
But even before she learned about Kate, Ryan respected her. When Ryan first met Mary and Luke, she offers genuine condolences for their loss. She doesn’t disrespect them or make light of their grief. Even though these two people are strangers,
In the process of paying due respect to Kate, however, Batwoman did not minimize Ryan or treat her as “second” to Kate. Ryan got a significant amount of screentime and focus—as she should—and her time on screen was all truly meaningful. We’ve begun to see her backstory, see who she is as a person, and see what that will mean for her as Batwoman.
2. Ryan is a lovable character, and Javicia did an excellent job portraying her. I love Ryan a lot, guys. She’s passionate, earnest, and driven. She’s down-to-earth and has a strong sense of justice that leads her through life. And at the same time, she’s a charming dork - the type of charming dork who yells “I’m bulletproof, bitches!” after dangling helplessly from the sky by a grappling hook. I, obviously, fucking love her for it.
I also think that the writers did a great job of keeping the vibe of season 1 to a good extent. The way Ryan was introduced felt like a proper introduction considering what we know about this show’s Gotham and considering how things were done in season 1. It worked well. Additionally, it is not lost on me how meaningful it is that from Ryan’s very first scene, we see that her instinct is to selflessly help victims to the best of her ability, and it is because she went out to help them that she stumbled upon the Batsuit. Furthermore, in that scene where she does discover the suit, the flashbacks establish that this moment in meaningful beyond just this one moment of time - it has connection to Ryan’s history and motivations for becoming Batwoman. During the DC Fandome this past summer, Caroline Dries said this season would deal with destiny. I think that that first scene was a great way to introduce it as a concept without taking away any of the sense that Ryan truly deserves this mantle as well. (One last side note - the use of music and sound effects in that first scene was excellent.)
While the writers certainly deserve a good bit of credit for creating this amazing character from scratch, I think Javicia also deserves a lot of credit here - she did an absolutely stunning job as Ryan. The charm I saw in Ryan was very similar to the goofy charm she brought to Ali in God Friended Me (which I loved, by the way), and those lighter scenes were played with the same adeptness as the dark, intense, and gutwrenchingly emotional scenes.
3. Batwoman acknowledged Alice’s grief and trauma in a way that also gave viewers some closure regarding season 1 matters. I think that Alice’s grief process was written pretty well considering her already existing trauma. And that succinct summary of Alice’s plan to get her dad to kill Kate was pretty clever on the writer’s part, as it gave us some closure regarding season 1’s goings on that were interrupted by COVID (and that were unable to be seen to completion since Kate Kane is no longer Batwoman).
4. The episode had many powerful moments. Some quotes that really struck me:
“You make it sound like these are all my choices...You wanna know why I haven’t paid my fines? Because I can’t find a job. Because I don’t have a home. Because no land lord wants to rent to an ex-con on post-release. You see how this works? No one cares that the dope wasn’t mine or that the Crows were dirty. Or that I’m actually a decent human. I am a file in your cabinet. That is not having power. That is thr very definition of powerless.” This line is made all the more powerful by the fact that Ryan’s first words upon donning the Batsuit are “Time to be powerful.”
“Trust me, I know I’m not a symbol, or a name, or a legacy...I am a number. I am the 327th baby of a Black woman who died of childbirth that year. I am a twenty-dollar-a-day check to a group home. I’m Inmate 4075 serving eighteen months for a crime I didn’t commit. But I can live with all those numbers because the mama who adopted me? I was her number one. But it turns out she’s just one of a quarter million murders in this country who have not seen justice. And that is a number I can’t live with.”
“I’m bulletproof, bitches!”
5. Batwoman has a truly excellent supporting cast. I know that a significant portion of the Batwoman fandom has been in love with Mary, Luke, and Alice since day one. One common fear within the fandom was that season 2 would feel like a completely different show, but at least in this episode, that wasn’t the case. The supporting characters were all prominently featured and given a good amount of emotional depth to cover - and seeing their journey helped the show feel familiar and helped carry us viewers over into this new era of Batwoman. And because the transition from Kate to Ryan was so well done, as I discussed in point 1, I didn’t feel like there was any absence or lacking in the show.
6. They did a great job carrying over that Kryptonite storyline from last season. In fact, it makes a lot more sense to me now. I was admittedly a bit confused by the whole Kryptonite storyline last season (it felt a bit like a mere device to facilitate Kate’s relationship with Kara - which, hey, I’m not complaining; I loved that friendship and think they should have hooked up once). Perhaps it was confusing since COVID cut it short. But whatever the reason, I’m glad that I now understand the deeper purpose behind this Kryptonite storyline. And, wow, this has the potential to be super cool and interesting!
7. They called out the Crows in a meaningful way. I think I’m not the only person who is a bit uncomfortable with the Crows in both concept and practice (yes, I do understand that they’re based on the comics, though). So I really appreciated—and found it super powerful—that it was Ryan who delivered the line “The Crows were dirty.” Sometimes I get confused as to whether Batwoman is portraying the Crows as good or bad, so lines like that give me comfort in knowing that the show at the very least acknowledges the problematic nature of an overmilitarized private police force that has been contracted out to have dominion over a city whose population includes a significant amount of low income people.
8. Bonus: They did good by the shippers. Batmoore shippers got some closure by observing Sophie’s grief process and hearing the letter Kate left her. Pennymoore shippers are certainly getting emotional and significant content for their ship. And for clowns like me, the show introduced a great new ship, Mary/Ryan, that I adore even though I know it won’t be canoning, lol.

Fem!S/O; Meetings, Feelings and Futures: Kenma, Aone and Kyoutani
Tumblr media
Thank you so much @kara-grayson04 for requesting!! 💞💞 I hope you enjoy it and that its good enough!!
Also thank you for requesting for Aone that man makes me S O F T 🥺🥺🥺
So I’m going to be introducing a master taglist, but it'll be limited to about 40-50 people, so please don’t hesitate to ask!! SMAU’s will have their own separate, unlimited taglist (unless Tumblr has some limitation I don’t know about) that you'd have to ask to be added to separately.
The headcanons may be a bit shorter than usual just because of it being multiple characters but I hope you guess still enjoy it! Feedback is always welcome!
As always, requests are: O P E N
Kenma
You two met during high school, through Kuroo of course. see, rooster boy thought that having another game obsessed friend would make Kenma come out of his shell a little bit
little did he know that it wouldn’t change a thing apart from the fact that he now had two nerds to look after
at first, Kenma didn't really think much of it, you were just another person who befriended Kuroo and would most likely see around quite a lot.
when he saw you, he would be polite and node or mumble his greetings but that was about it at first. You were similar in a way and honestly Kuroo almost regretted it.
almost
Kenma didn't know when it happened, all he knew was that one day he just saw you and blushed like a mad man after realising just how beautiful you were. He didn’t know why you, a simple acquaintance (at least) suddenly became the only thought in his mind
he loved how patient you were with him, even when he was being bluntly analytical of everything, you would simply smile whereas someone else would have complained or just left
he remembers speaking to you about his distaste for hot and cold weather, saying there was not in between. one was too hot, the other too cold and you just nodded along
“That's why I prefer spring and autumn, they're the transitioning seasons so the weather can be more balanced.”
Kenma is just shook that you didn’t point out the obvious that well, one is summer and the other is winter.
you two just starting talking a lot more and Kenma starting falling deeper and deeper and so you did you
although you managed to keep it hidden a bit better but not by much
you two would always look over each others shoulders when playing games together, trying to help each other out and occasionally will discuss games seriously; their design, animation, mechanics basically a range of things
you two became friends quickly after actually talking to each other and his feelings only really became clear when you were absent from school one day
he started texting you straight away, hearing from Kuroo that you were ill and home because your parents still had to work. Surprisingly, he’d managed to convince Kuroo to let him check up on you after practice since your parents worked late
both were shocked seeing you covered in blankets with a red nose, teared up eyes (from all the sneezing) and an exhausted aura opening the door, Kuroo quickly getting Kenma to take you to your room whilst he looked for food to give you
Kenma made sure you were covered with a blanket, grabbing a cold towel to place on your forehead. But rather than sit in silence, he because quietly talking about the newest game, smiling when you became discussing it as well
honestly this boy was falling in deep
collabs are a must when you two create your youtube channels in University, whether it was gaming, challenges or vlogs, around half of yours and his videos always include the other person
your fans are starting to ship you to together, Kuroo being their leader
little did they know you two had been dating since your third year, Kenma having awkwardly gotten his sims character to ask your sims character out on a date and then asking
“So... should we go out for real or?”
you agreed instantly of course
Uni had gone passed easily and your relationship remained strong throughout the years, going on dates every Thursday (both in real life and on any game you could manage)
when you weren't going out on dates, you two were lounging in your shared room or sitting in the living room of the house playing games or watching movies
Life got better after he proposed
he did it after graduation in the celebratory dinner, with help from Kuroo and some of you University friends
you could tell he was slightly embarrassed but luckily it was a private dinner in your residence so he wasn't that bothered. Of course he wanted it to be private but he also lowkey wants to show your relationship off like
“Look at this beautiful woman I am asking to marry me. Like if she says yes i’ll be shook.”
and he was.
Your daughter came along soon after the wedding which was much more simple than anyone expected. You two got married in the back garden of your childhood friends in front of close family and friends.
Pregancy was difficult, but it did give you time to actually play some games rather than having to work all the time plus your YouTube Channel became a family channel
Kenma was forever supportive, reading up on what to expect and how he can help. He never really asserted himself as the type of partner to tell you not to do something, he knew you understood your limitations and so left you to it
but he was always by your side, no matter what
And when Kanna was born, you both fell in love all over again. She was the perfect mixture of you both, with Kenma’s shy, introvert personality and your socialable, patient personality
honestly Kenma was glad of it, knowing that being a major introvert can sometimes be harmful, but he knew his daughter would be fine.
if not then BET he will do everything he can to make sure any problem gets solved quickly
his favourite thing though?
Coming home from work to find his two girls asleep on the sofa
Kanna cuddled up ontop of her mother and you holding your daughter securely in your arms, the two of you breathing softly
calm and serene
it was that he though of when he came up to you one night, wrapping his arm around your waist gently and kissing your shoulder
“...Lets have another.”
Aone
You were on the train when he first saw you properly. Of course he’d seen you around school but didn't really think much of it since his school mates never really spoke to him anyway
something about him being too intimidating to approach (rude)
BUT on the day when the two of you met, the train was way too crowded and you were honestly suffering. getting crushed between bodies or walls daily was getting exhausting and you couldn;t take much more
thankfully you spotted an empty seat and Aone. It wasn;t that you were hesitant because of him, no, you just didn’t want to disturb him if it happened to be that he liked to be alone. but it wouldn;t hurt to ask, right?
so carefully you walked across the train and smiled at him politely, nodding towards the seat next to him
“hello Aone, would you mind if I sat next to you?”
HOLY SHIT HE WAS SOFT IMMEDIATELY
this baby nodded and stiffened as you sat down, he couldn’t believe you’d actually done it and that you seemed so calm and relaxed. did he not scare you??
the two of you sat in silence but that was fine with Aone because someone was sitting next to him
both of you were surprised when you got off at the same stop, you smiling shyly up at him as he let you off first. you were surprised once again to find him walking the same way as you
you walked next to him silently, enjoying his company until it was time to head your separately ways
“Well, thank you for letting me side beside you Aone, I really appreciate it... do you... think I could sit next to you again.. tomorrow?”
he quickly nodded, blush rising from his next to the tips of his ears
you two soon fell into a pattern, whenever you would see each other you would smile and wave, him returning the kind gesture - even at school time which made a lot of people curious and weary
eventually you began waiting for him after practice, quietly waiting outside the gym and smiling when he would come out. he would always nod, giving you a look that you recognised as him saying “please wait a few more minutes” as he went up to get changed
will forever be surprised to see you still standing outside waiting for him
it would always be the same, quiet routine with Aone allowing you on the train first so you could sit first or get the last seat and he would simply stand in front of you, watching over you like a guardian of some sort
on occasions where the train was fully packed, he would gently guide you to a rail - oddly thankful for his intimidating nature since it would lead to people making room for you
once it starts to get darker, Aone refuses to let you walk home alone and goes out of his way just to make sure you get home safely.
you were grateful for it though, simply because of the company
your parents met him once and they loved him. it was like they could also see his kind nature, smiling at him and always thanking him for getting their daughter home safely
he would always nod and bow politely
honestly he adores you because goddamn it finally someone isn't scared of him
goes out of his way to ensure your safety, happiness and comfort. listens to your every word. sometimes he’ll respond to you and sometimes he speaks with his eyes but either way he (and you) are content in each others presence
your relationship moved quickly, dating after only a few months of properly knowing each other but neither of you would have it either way
you supported him in his volleyball career as much as you could, coming to his games or cheering him on when you couldn't make it. If playing is what he wanted to do alongside work then you were happy as long as he was
will bring you flowers and replaces those flowers once they die
all he asks is for kisses
despite the quick beginning, it took four years for you to get married and another two for you to have your children.
the wedding was beautiful, all your friends and family there, even his old high school friends (including the third years from back in his second year)
everyone was happy that this guy finally found love
the pregnancy was unplanned, and you were both shocked.
you’d missed your period and decided to take a test, Aone came home to you on the sofa, holding some baby shoes that you had gotten during the day to surprise him with
he was s h o o k
imagine both your surprise when you found out you were having twins
when you went into labour, Aone was terrified that his children would be scared of him, but his thoughts were quickly shoved aside when he heard his son cry out. and then his daughter
his heart was beating so fast, man was thankful they were in a hospital.
your son, Reo, calmed in your arms leaving your daughter, Aoi, to her father.
she cooed instantly and was labelled daddy’s girl
straight away
Reo was a lot like Aone in that he was oddly silent, even for a baby, you guessed he must have picked up on it and just went with it
Aoi was more like you, the talker of the pair and smiles all around
it was one day when he was watching the three of you play that he chuckled to himself, smiling happily.
Once upon a time his concern was that no one would sit next to him on the train
now it was that one day his daughter would get a boyfriend
god bless that boy
“Aoi, boys who are friends are okay. Boyfriends are banned.”
“Daddy... what’s a boyfriend?”
Kyoutani
Okay so ya’ll met under bad circumstances. and by that I mean he shoved passed you and knocked you on your ass, not even sparing a glance to you as you walked passed.
a bunch of the male students were immediately shouting at him for being rude to a girl, female students coming to help you up whilst the culprit just sulked off somewhere
you were a first year, friends to Kindaichi and Kunimi and also lowkey manager of the team
you had heard that Iwaizumi was having to take up some of the role and felt bad, since you were there watching your boys anyway you thought might as well so you spoke to him and Oikawa about applying for the position
You were SHOCKED to find him there, like how did a guy that unsociable get into a club??
you soon found out about the teams troubles with him and realised that it’s just his personality
but he was good at the game, despite stealing a few of Kindaichi’s sets and just being plain rude. But you loved how he was with Oikawa, laughing quietly to yourself as the older boy pouted when he was being ignored
Kyoutani thought nothing of you at first, you were just some girl he’d bumped into but then he saw you in club and was annoyed
did you follow him here to scold him cause it wouldn’t work
but then he saw how kind and attentive you actually were and boy was soon blushing (but only slightly)
it pissed him off whenever you went to Iwaizumi or Oikawa because obviously he saw Iwaizumi as the big dog and Oikawa was.... Oikawa so gross
was also surprised when you came over to give him a towel, because he thought he’d scared you off with his rudeness
blinks before nodding and wiping he face, feeling your presence move before swiftly catching your wrist
“Sorry... ‘bout before”
you just smiled and nodded at him, when he let you go (he was receiving looks off of Iwaizumi otherwise he could have stayed like that staring into your eyes for the rest of practice) you went back to your friends, laughing at Kindaichi as he demanded for information
Oddly enough he became a lot calmer when you were around because you were call him out for his mistakes
“That wasn’t your set Kyoutani, you need to wait otherwise your spikes won’t be as strong as they usually are and might get blocked easily.”
honestly you didn’t know if your words were actually helping but he seemed to take them in a wait for Oikawa to actually set to him
it didn’t work all the time however, in actual matches he got so into it that he just forgets and acts out
Oikawa and Iwaizumi sometimes look to you to calm him down, again sometimes it works and sometimes all you can do is shrug and say you tried
no one is sure of when you two started hanging out or dating but it just kinda happened
like one day you just kinda went “yeah he’s my boyfriend” and visa versa
he would walk you home on the grounds of Iwaizumi telling him to
you walked home alone because Kindaichi and Kunimi didn't live near you and Iwaizumi just turned to mad dog like “Walk her home. We need to make sure our manager gets home safely.”
everyone thought he’d put up a fight but he just turned, grabbed your hand and starting walking.
will continue to hold your hand and actually intertwine your fingers if he sees other boys walking past you two
kinda like a claim? but a sweet one like
“back off she’s mine”
you were sad when, a year later, he graduated but he always came back to walk you home at the end of day like routine
like I said before, no one was sure when you two started dating they just knew he was soft for you but still growly and glaring
you didn't mind though because he treated you gently
you got pregnant after you left high school and starting working. well, a few years into your job you got pregnant.
totally unplanned and definitely outside of marriage
your mothers were like “excuse me. what”
he proposed a few days later
I say proposed
you two were led in bed and he just turned around and said “you wanna get married or what?”
you legit just nodded all chill like and said “sure why not”
instant grin and kisses because he loves the playfulness
you ended up having a son who was exactly like his father and finally
after all these years
Kyoutani got a taste of his own medicine
“He’s such a fucking little shit.”
“He’s your son smh.”
Itsuki was born with a scowl on his face, Kyoutani was sure of it. he swears to whatever god he can that he saw it with his own eyes
but there are some moments where he remembers just how much he loves his son
but in all seriousness, seeing his son take after him so much fills him with joy and he’s so happy that they have that little mad dog
any future children (daughters) will be well protected
“Mommy... I want a baby brother.”
Kyoutani just sits there grinning
“You heard the rascal.”

Note
In honor of season 6, could you write a prompt on how you think the “pinky promise” scene would go in the trailer? I’ve heard a lot of guesses but I’m curious to see yours.
- I just managed to type this out in time! I had a lot of ideas about this, but this is the one I settled with in the end. Hope you enjoy! x
Nia found him outside.
She should have expected it; after hours of being under Alex’s observation, the watchful eye of Lena’s security cameras looming over his makeshift hospital room, Nia couldn’t fault Brainy for wanting to go somewhere a little less… restrictive.
He’d been improving steadily over the last few hours. The monitors had been unhooked from his systems for a while now, and the only thing left for Alex to prescribe was a hell of a lot of bed rest.
Finding the bed empty hadn’t surprised Nia. Brainy wasn’t exactly the type to stay in bed for any longer than required. And something told her that – in Brainy’s mind, at least - this was way past necessary.
The windows that overlooked Lena’s lab weren’t fancy, but they were big, providing a good enough vantage that Nia was able to catch the silhouette of Brainy on the other side.
After a moment’s consideration, Nia ducked her head, stepping out onto the balcony to join him.
Brainy didn’t turn to her, all she could see was the windswept nature of his dark hair as it ruffled in the breeze, the simplistic elegance of his purple suit that shimmered under the last few rays of daylight.
She’d grown so accustomed to seeing him without his inducer over the last twelve hours, it was almost weird now that he was back under its pretences. Having it on right now served no real purpose, exactly, although it certainly hid any lingering effects of radiation poisoning. Maybe that was the image Brainy was hoping to convey, a means to prove that he was strong enough to join their next fight against Lex Luthor. Whenever the bastard made his play, at least. He’d been unnervingly quiet since Brainy had gotten hurt, and even with Kara, J’onn and M’gann out looking, they’d yet to find anything to suggest when he might rear his head.
Still, even in a human guise, there were things that Brainy couldn’t hide from her. Like the clear tension he held in his shoulders, or the rapid motions of his hands as he folded them over each other again and again and again. It was difficult to tell from this angle, but Nia was almost certain that Brainy was making special care to avoid brushing against his ring.
Then, Brainy made a sound. It was harsh, strangled, barely choking its way out of his throat. When that sound was met with a sudden heave of his chest, followed by a brutally hollow-sounding sob, Nia finally understood.
Her heart twisted with sympathy. Even in the low light, she could see that he was trembling. More small gasps broke the quiet of the fast-approaching evening as Brainy desperately fought to rake in enough air to breathe.
He’d come out here to be alone, Nia knew, for the simple act of being able to exist without scrutiny. So that he could drop his guard completely in an environment that he trusted - where no one might walk in uninvited.
Nia glanced down awkwardly at the coffee cup in her hand. She’d barely left Brainy’s side since Lena had first corralled him to that lab, and yet the second Nia had left to get a drink, he’d made himself scarce.
Did that mean… did he count her on his list of people to avoid?
Nia swallowed.
One way to find out, she supposed.
She made it all the way to the ledge without detection. It was only when she sat, placing her coffee out of reach, that Brainy jerked, choking out a startled breath.
“Hey,” Nia said softly, careful to keep just shy of his personal bubble. “Sorry. I- I didn’t mean to freak you out.”
“’s fine,” Brainy said hurriedly, wiping at his face in a futile attempt to hide his expression.
It wasn’t fine, one look at him told Nia everything she needed. There were salt tracks strained across Brainy’s cheeks and his eyes were puffy and red rimmed. Wayward tears threatened to drip from his chin, though he quickly removed them with a practiced swipe of his knuckles. Even without them, Brainy’s chest was spasming with silent hiccups, his lips pursed tight enough that Nia knew he was fighting every instinct not to fall apart all over again.
Nia tried to ignore the knot twisting its way inside her chest, keeping her gaze locked firmly out ahead of her. “How’re you feeling?” she asked.
She caught Brainy straighten in her peripheral, followed by a quick sniff as he tried to regain a little of his composure. “I am improving,” he said, offering a tight smile. “My implants should be fully functional in-”
Nia sighed. “I didn’t mean it like-” She stopped herself, sucking hard on her lip.
This shouldn’t be this hard; or at least, she wished it didn’t have to be. The truth was, they’d been making so much progress communicating with each other before…
Before the break-up? Before Brainy started working for Lex? Before he nearly died?
It felt like a century and a second ago all at once. Brainy had changed so much in so little time, and a lifetime – an instant - ago, Nia had promised to be there for him. No matter what. To support and help him with whatever changes he might face without his inhibitors. She’d wanted him to flourish, to be able to come to terms with his fully uninhibited mind. To be exuberant with every part of himself.
But then Lex had happened, then these lies had happened, and the Brainy she’d glimpsed for just a moment at Al’s bar had all but disappeared, like he’d never existed at all.
Now, though?
Nia glanced towards him, hesitant to come any closer. She wasn’t quite invading his space yet, but he was still near enough to her that she could feel his warmth against the chill of the air. Carefully, she eased herself towards him, enough that she was able to brush her arm against his. When Brainy didn’t react, Nia sighed. “You don’t need to hide this from me anymore,” she said, trying hard to keep her voice steady. “So, tell me, really, how are you feeling?”
Nia didn’t miss the way Brainy’s eyes clouded at that question. His lips trembled. “I--” He bit the inside of his cheek, shaking his head. “I don’t understand.”
“About what?”
Brainy laughed abjectly, clenching his eyes shut. “How- how you can all be so forgiving. How you can- how you can even look at me, after everything that I did. The guilt is, is, is like a pit inside of my chest. Everything I did- everything I shut out I-” Brainy bent in on himself suddenly, clawing helplessly at his centre. “It’s too much.”
Nia’s own eyes were beginning to sting. “You’re overwhelmed.”
More tears trickled down Brainy’s face. “It wasn’t supposed to be like this,” he admitted lowly. “I was meant to- to realign myself with the Big Brain, give myself time to restructure my neural pathways so that I would be fit to accept my fully uninhibited self.” He hissed out a sharp breath, shaking his head. “But, I could not- to fool Lex it was imperative I acted as impartial and logic driven as possible and so I- I pushed it all aside. I never made room, I couldn’t make room, couldn’t allow that part of me access—” He choked out a laugh. “Because- because if I had, I would have never been able to keep this secret from you.”
“Brainy,” Nia murmured.
“I broke your heart.”
“I understand why you had to,” Nia said, although even she could hear the thickness in her voice, the bitterness that trailed behind it. She sighed, lifting her hand. “And Brainy, feeling this way, I can see how much it’s hurting you, but it’s going to be okay, I swear.” Gently, Nia ran her fingertips along the side of Brainy’s face, peeling a few damp strands of hair from his cheek. She smiled when Brainy’s eyes fluttered shut, the stutters of his chest easing to something far calmer. “I promised you I’d be there for you through this,” Nia continued, “and that hasn’t changed. I want to help, in any way that I can. But… I need you to promise me something, too.”
With that, Nia offered her hand out to him, pinky first.
Brainy stared at her hand quizzically for a long moment before understanding twitched at the corners of his mouth. He glanced up to her, eyes still glittering with fresh tears. “Anything,” he said.
Nia smirked, wiggling her finger. “No more secrets,” she told him solidly, her expression softening. “Look, Brainy, I don’t want you to feel like you need to hide anything from me. And not just about secret plans to dismantle evil alien organisations.” She rolled her eyes. “But, how you’re feeling, too. You can tell me anything, no matter what, and we’ll figure it out together. Promise?”
After some trepidation, Brainy managed a small smile, linking his finger with hers. Another tear rolled down his cheek as he squeezed her tight.
Nia smiled back, shaking their hands together to finalise their pinky swear.
“I promise,” Brainy said.
And, for the first time in months, Nia knew that he was telling her the truth.

holy cow that sc old guard au is so good!! 😍 pls continue it if ever you'd be so inclined,,, I like the idea of lena finding family with the old guard and navigating her relationship with kara and the superfriends in canon 😊
Okay, then how about we think about the fact that when Lena and Kara finally exchange secrets, Kara is eloquent and apologetic and hopeful, giving a beautiful speech that ends with "I'm Supergirl."
And Lena's response is "I'm dead."
Cue season finale break.
But then we immediately pick back up with "Except I'm not. I mean, I'm alive by any measure known to science, I've checked. But that doesn't change the fact that the night before I moved to National City I woke up in a warehouse in Metropolis and spat two bullets out of my skull."
Kara just stares at her like whaaaaat is happening.
"And those people, the ones in the lobby the other day, I think they're like me, because I've been having dreams about them ever since it happened and I think they're old. Like older than time old and honestly I've been trying not to think about it because the idea of living that long terrifies me and--"
Lena cuts off when Kara wraps her in a hug, squeezing her tight. After her momentary shock, Lena relaxes, abandoning her train of thought in favor of melting into Kara's embrace.
"It's okay," Kara promises. "We'll figure it out. Together."
Lena gladly accepts the fact that she doesn't have to go through her journey of immortality alone. And it's not just the superfriends she has to lean on, but also her new family of fellow immortals who have gone through the exact same thing she has.
She doesn't have to go into hiding like Nile did. So far, no one but Corben knows her secret, so the risk of being identified and studied by the government is minimal. So the focus of everyone's work becomes keeping it that way.
Andy and the rest of the old guard set themselves up as Lena's new ace security team. Andy is the brains and occasional sniper, but stays out of the direct line of fire. Nicky and Joe are the public facing bodyguards who go with her everywhere, while Nile is the last line of defense, posing as Lena's assistant.
The two groups don't really mesh at first, despite the superfriends' curiosities. The old guard has been too long alone and too long with death to know what to do with the superfriends' youthful exuberance. But eventually their mutual attachment to Lena brings them into each others orbits.
Joe and Nicky adapt first. They come to love game nights, and Nia adores their blatant love for each other. Nile is the closest to them in age, but game nights and giggly girl parties isn't exactly her scene. She and Lena share plenty of scotch though, on the nights when they're alone in the office and have nothing to do but talk.
Andy remains an enigma. To her, the people around them are all children, and she can't truly connect with them the way she does with the old guard. The only member of the superfriends she can connect with is Supergirl.
There's something about being the last of her world that makes Supergirl relatable, something about being earth's mightiest hero that creates the same invisible wall between her and her closest friends that Andy recognizes.
And Lena. Lena suddenly finds herself in a drastically changing landscape. Her apartment  fills first with bodies and go bags, as the old guard camps in her living room and spare bedroom. Then slowly Nicky's drawings find their way to the walls, and knick knacks come to rest on every available surface. Weapons fill every nook and cranny, a fact Lena grows more accustomed to as Nile starts training her.
She's familiar with guns and can hold her own in hand to hand combat under normal circumstances, but it doesn't flow through her muscles like it does with the old guard. Each of them but Andy teaches them their own specialty, relentlessly, until Lena feels her body change, her muscles coiled and ready to explode into motion using nothing but reflexive memory.
When Lena asks about training with Andy, the others laugh.
"Give it another century," Joe says, smiling warmly, "then ask."
But Lena picks up fighting as quickly as she does everything else. Sparring with Nicky and Joe is the most fun for Lena-- she surprises them with her skill in bladed weapons, courtesy of her near-olympic level proficiency in fencing. But even with them Lena can barely hold a candle at first. She's good, better than good, but Joe and Nicky don't fight to earn points. They fight to kill. They move with their whole bodies, with power and momentum behind every strike.
Lena does all she can to catch up. She loves a challenge, and this is a matter of keeping her life the way it is-- something she'll cling to until it's ripped out of her warm, undying fingers. She wants to keep L-Corp, she wants to keep game nights, and movie nights, and... she wants to keep Kara.
And Kara.... Kara supports Lena through it all, but the truth of Lena's new reality doesn't really sink in until one day she and the old guard don't move fast enough. They're lucky, in the sense there's no one else to see the bullet that rips through Lena's sternum and blasts out of her back, taking chunks of flesh and bone with it.
Kara's heart stops, barely hears the gasping wheeze as Andy puts a knife through the shooters windpipe. All she can see is Lena, unmistakably dead.
But then Lena blinks into a grimace, a curse rising to her pinkening lips.
"Fuck."
Then, "Ow. Motherfucker."
Nile pulls Lena to her feet, putting her gun back in Lena's palm. Lena deftly checks the chamber and nods the okay, and Nile moves on. Only then does Lena see Kara standing stock still, eyes wide and chest locked against a burgeoning panic attack.
"Hey," Lena says softly. She takes Kara's hand in hers, letting Kara feel the warmth of her skin, the pulse of her veins. She even pulls her blouse aside so Kara can see the flesh knitting itself back together. "I'm okay. See?"
There's a word for what Lena is, but Kara's pretty sure it isn't okay. Still, its enough to get Kara's legs to move again. With a nod, she bounces on the balls of her feet then launches into the air, speeding through the remaining gunmen and piling them aside unconscious for the police to deal with later.
"Still gotta get used to that," Andy mutters under her breath, coming to check on Lena. "You good?"
Lena nods again. "You were supposed to stay in the van."
"Fuck off with that garbage." Andy glares at her. "One of my team goes down, I'm going to make sure they get back up."
Lena smiles. It feels different, to be so readily accepted into the guard. Even with the Superfriends, she's had to work to earn their trust, and slowly eased her way into becoming one of the group. With Andy and her people, from the moment they saw each other there's never been any other thought. Lena was theirs, and they were hers.
"Let's get going."

About me:
· Experienced roleplayer over the age of 18, seeking partners who are also 18+
· I love doubling! To me, doubling is about more than just having a second pairing. If you are willing to play a character that I request, I would be happy to give you the same thing in return. Even more than that – I’d be willing to do, literally, whatever you want in return (as long as it abides by the rules, obviously)
· Very flexible! I can write replies of one paragraph or ten paragraphs depending on what my partner prefers!
· I always try to answer daily, but will let you know if I cannot
· For my half of the doubling, I will request to play a male character in a male x female roleplay. Also, I am NSFW friendly! I’m seeking plots that are happy, fluffy romances, but am willing to have more angst and drama in your half of the doubling, of course!
·  Doubling is not required if you just simply like one of my ideas and want to write it!
I am seeking partners to play any of the following canon female characters (all characters are 18+)
·         Kara Zor-El (Supergirl/DC)
·         Alicia Clark (Fear The Walking Dead)
·         Clarke Griffin (The 100)
·         Kate Bishop (MCU)
·         Hailey Upton (Chicago PD)
·         Alex Morgan or Mikaela Shiffrin (Celebrity/pro athlete)
Please note that these are not the only fandoms I know. I can provide an extensive list and am open to doing research if you wish to double! If you are interested, you may feel free to add me on discord at fandomfan#0404
Plots: I usually prefer to play a male OC x a female canon character. However, I know that some do not have any interest in that. So, let it be known that I am open to canon x canon as well. These are just some of my preferred plots right now:
Note: My OCs may seem barebones right now. However, I do this because I value my partner's input. My goal is to make my OC as likable for my partner as I can! With that in mind, please feel free to send face claim requests, personality requests, etc. for my OC as I can create him once we start plotting so you can get the big picture of who he is!
  1.       Scott Klein (male OC) x Kara Zor-El: Scott Klein is canon(ish). He was literally only mentioned in one sentence in season Two and never again. Kara was talking about how she stepped on her prom date's toes and broke his foot in high school. It gave me an idea to create Scott Klein for a roleplay. Basically, my version of Scott would be the first friend Kara made on Earth outside of the Danvers family. Scott was the same age as her and he decided to sit with her at lunch. They became friends and started dating when they were in high school. In this version, Scott is not a minor character. Instead, Scott and Kara maintain a relationship through high school and throughout college. The plot begins when Kara saves her sister’s plane from crashing. Scott is a police officer, meaning he was on the bridge evacuating civilians when Kara landed the plane. He was able to see her and recognize her. So, when he returns to their apartment, Kara admits her true origin to him along with her desire to help people and he will be supportive of her and integrated into various plots that we saw on the show!
2.       Brian Strickland (male OC) x Alicia Clark: Brian and Alicia have been lifelong best friends. His own father died when he was young. His mother is a doctor who died at the start of the outbreak while she was treating sick patients at the hospital in Los Angeles. It leaves Brian on his own. Brian and Alicia have been in a relationship ever since they started high school. He has a football scholarship to attend the same college that she plans on attending, too. Madison decides that he can stay with her and her family while he makes the transition since both of his parents are gone, which is how he ends up with Alicia and her family when the world ends. We can really pick up the plot at any point during the show, but I like season 3 on the ranch as a fun starting point!
3.       Peter Parker x Kate Bishop: This is an AU. It is also a very rough idea. However, with them both being from New York, it gave me an idea to pair them together. What if Peter Parker survived the blip? He continued on with his life as Spider-Man, attending the same college as Kate Bishop when he was not helping the Avengers. They meet on the first day of college, begin a friendship, and end up dating soon after. This plot would begin right before the Hawkeye series, but the hope would be that Peter gets roped into Kate’s adventures and we can eventually transition into other MCU plots for these two after that part is finished!

Interesting that you mention the Danvers vs Dansen because it wasn’t until a couple of weeks ago that I finished S4 that I saw that Alex was actually going to adopt and then the adoption fell through and Kelly was with her through all that and Kara didn't mention it once (I now realize)! That was a big traumatic moment and a big part of Alex's story and she shared it entirely with Kelly, who for some reason (plot) after having just met her decided that she was going with her to Coastal City to meet the baby and then the birth mother decided to keep them. Now I understand why they needed to build Dansen and delay the adoption plot, but damn was that a lot of emotional lifting being done by a potential (at this point) partner. So I guess what I'm saying is that there is some very poignant storyline already uniquely Dansen, since the adoption seems like a plot that will be theirs alone, not Danvers sister related
.
Yeah, it’s kind of interesting to think that adoption has kind of like always felt like a very Alex storyline rather than an Alex and Kara storyline. Of course it first was a big issue between Sanvers, then imo the next big moment came between Alex and J’onn on the topic? I think Alex was on Argo at that time? And then we see Alex fill out adoption papers on her own?
Like obviously Kara is informed and thinks Alex would make a great mom, but it doesn’t really feel like something she is directly involved in. Which to me points against an “autie Kara” ending (similarly how Kara didn’t really take part as much in the Alex/Ruby bonding stuff and didn’t really do a ton of boding with Ruby directly (even though that would have been a potentially interesting story, if Ruby has alien DNA too)).
I find that really interesting. Especially if one thinks about the popularity of Swanqueen and how at least some part of seemed to be built around the concept of “a boy with two mommies”. By comparison, imo it has never felt like “Alex AND Kara are adopting a kid”, it always felt like Alex’s thing and Kara is sort of at a friendly supportive distance to it.
I guess that’s why to me it has always felt like Alex + baby felt a bit like Alex replacing Kara. Like she spent her life caring for Kara, but Kara is outgrowing her, is her own person now and now Alex is heaping her motherly energy on a child.
I have felt from the start that the writers were very serious about Dansen. And I fully think they are serious this season about giving Alex her “have it all” ending, what is have it all by their definition. She will finally get her kid and she has the loving partner who is willing to support her in this in Kelly.
It’s one of the many reasons why a Kara leaving ending feels to emotional fitting for me. Alex is forming her own family and is releasing Kara from her direct control.
Particularly in seasons 2 and 3, Alex and Kara’s romantic storylines paralleled each other heavily. Alex having her first real because lesbian relationship versus Kara having her first real proper relationship, both relationships ending in tragedy and season 3 dedicating a lot of airtime to the both of them grieving those relationships. If season 6 dedicates a lot of stuff to Dansen wedding and Dansen adoption, it would make sense that Kara is mulling over her own life and choosing something new for herself, whatever that might be.
I know a lot of people don’t want it, but imo there is a lot of love there too in the concept of “I’m releasing you into your new life, with love/our hearts will always be connected”. Kara just isn’t the needy lonely girl anymore and arguably she hasn’t been for a while. See the beginning of season 2 where Kara tried to leave for a second with Clark and Alex is the one who goes needy and can’t let her go.
I’m very excited about the potential Kara/Kelly centric episode and i’m hoping for a lot of bonding and Kara praising her. Dansen was kind of there building up in the background in season 5, but I have great hopes for them and particularly Kelly this season and that they really want to do right by her. IMO she already did some great heavy lifting in being the normal person point of view character in 6x07. I can easily picture Kelly/Kara being about Kara being thankful for Kelly’s place in Alex’s life and communicating to us why Dansen is so great.
Also really hoping for Kara getting involved in the wedding preparations (even though I would want the wedding to be heavily about Dansen and Dansen choosing it for themselves, not something that comes out of pressure).
Based on spoilers, I also expect quality just Dansen stuff about Kelly’s ascent to vigilante and if the adoption comes around, I also hope for that to be heavily centered around the two of them, because as you said, that’s how they started out.
Basically I’m hoping for in addition to a Danversisters love letter, for a major Dansen love letter too because in the end, I think she is supposed to represent Alex’s happy ending, so I think the show need to make a stab at showing to us why we should be happy about it (and Kelly in Fear Knot imo was a great start in regards to getting really meaty scenes rather than stuff that is very plot driven or a bit rushed against other plot points).
But yes, Dansen, the way they write Dansen and the adoption storyline is a major reason why a Kara leaving, graduating ending feels so plausible to me.
Sure, I could be wrong, but either way, I’ve decided to be happy about Dansen, because to me that feels like the most surefire bet in regard to them getting quality material. IMO Sanvers had a ton of explosive chemistry. While Dansen imo only got the occasional moment to shine (you have moments of hotness like Kelly checking out Alex’s new vigilante outfit, you have a not of nice and supportive stuff, they are finally get not only blinks of big romance, but actually meatier versions of it) I look forward to getting that explanded.
1.) Flo isn’t coming back and even if she were to come back imo the show has made enough cases for how Maggie would be a great match for what Alex wants. So it’s a moot point.
2.) I love Alex and I want her to be happy.
3.) I really like Kelly as a character and Azie just seems like the sweatest person ever.
And like I said, I’m hoping for a lot more broad quality content in the build up to the happy ending. They had good moments before, but I’m hoping for some real feasts rather than just the occasional nice bits. (even though Covid makes me pessimistic in regards to getting a sex scene in the same vein of Sanvers, even though I think it would be really cool).

I haven’t had a chance to watch 5.17 again yet, but some initial thoughts.
1st things 1st, there were some sublime choices from Melissa Benoist as the Director. I have a couple of screen captures of the ones that immediately spring to mind. She definitely showed her nuanced understanding of the characters, and that really was so fantastic to see. She deserves another shot in the directors chair in S6 if she wants to (& it sounds from interviews as if it is something she’d like to have chance to do more of). Even without understanding the characters, some of the lighting & overall framing of shots were so good! From lighting to just mirroring chess board pieces. I loved it. I felt the Eve fight scene was pretty masterful.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The episode itself. Whilst it did give up a couple of twists (the most major being Lex set up Jeremiah’s death), honestly it fell pretty flat for a number of different reasons.
My biggest problem (& this isn’t new for me), is that Lex’s behaviour was entirely predictable. That all bar a couple of plot points weren’t things that the fandom haven’t already talked about in one way or another almost Ad nauseam.
A big part for me was this flashback episode leaves us with no more truly relevant details on things than before the episode began.
Lex setting up Leviathan? Knew he was going to do it, this is Lex we are talking about.
Lex manipulating Lena, especially against Kara. C’mon, you’d have to be either blind, or in denial this has been going on for months on his manipulation of Lena. Yes, she should realise he is doing it, but again, Lena (as even Mon-El mentions) is the product of her abusive family. That doesn’t simply disappear!
Eve - we knew she was back, so again no real surprise on Lex manipulating her. Again (oh and side note. If you’re going to hate on Lena for ‘killing’ people & say her manipulation by Lex doesn’t excuse her, but don’t say the same thing about Eve, who killed outright for both Leviathan and Lex, your hypocritical hatred of Lena is showing. Check yourself at the door).
Lillian. She had already admitted she wasn’t Earth 38 Lillian to Lex from the award ceremony dialogue. So again, it wasn’t a surprise.
Honestly I could keep going, but you get the picture.
With only 2 episodes left, (& even had it been a full 3 episodes as I expect them to perhaps try and extend 5.19 into a longer one, perhaps over 1.5 hours instead of the usual hour schedule), we still have no clear answers on anything. Leviathan? Nothing was added to their story, and considering they were supposed to be the big villain of S5, only Lex has been that so far. And when you have an episode that does nothing more than we saw in S4, to ‘expose’ Lex ..... news flash. We know all this about him.
What we don’t know is who leads Leviathan? Who else is part of the organisation? We practically know nothing about them.
I felt this episode would’ve been better placed after Winn’s first episode (I’ve said I felt having him over that 2 episode arc was a waste, as again that 2nd episode did absolutely nothing plot wise that couldn’t have been added in the 1st episode, & the 1st episode didn’t add a lot either! I’m not saying don’t bring Winn back, but make it relevant & not 2 filler episodes). To have it done so late in the season makes zero sense to me. It feels messy.
On to William Dey. I’m not even going to try & pretend I like the character. I absolute despise him, & not because of trying to be Kara’s LI. I despise him, because once again we had him in scenes that others should have been in, especially Alex at the beginning. She is supposedly working with J’onn, and while I get they might not want her around Lex, have her working remotely from the tower, sending that information from the video clip to J’onn and Kara. After all, she did that from the DEO. J’onn has all that computing power & I’ve yet to see it used to any full potential.
I also found it strange William just walked up to Kara & J’onn as if they’re best of buddies, but we have nothing to suggest he knows Kara is Supergirl. I hate he has that level of familiarity with them. It again feels rushed & disjointed & totally wrong for any of the characters. Failing having Alex working it, how about having Nia, who again I keep repeating, is an actual reporter, but also as Dreamer could help scout out & report back in with them all back at the Tower.
I also found the wording Lex used to Eve in regards William. "Activate William."
So activate how exactly? Sure they got him working as a journalist, but how? Through clues being sent to him? Is he under some kind of control? I can think of a host of different ways to phrase that, but activate? That sounds an awful lot like some kind of manipulation that is far more than straight forward sending William some clues is about.
And about this. William is a Nobel Prize winning Journalist, & yet not once has he been able to do anything without someone giving him the heads up! I know some journalism requires that, but constantly? If he is so good at his job, he should be finding more than dead ends. It grates like crazy.
Then he simply arrives at Kara’s with sympathy baked goodies - only to then launch into needing help over what he has found. There is a time & a place for that kind of thing. That was neither the time nor the place. I know Lex wanted to get Leviathan on board with his plan, & needed to show they were about to get Supergirl looking at them far too closely, but really? Just no. He could’ve met Kara at CatCo. Met Kelly at Obsidean. Texted or called Kara to check it was okay to drop by her apartment even. But doing so unannounced, when he knows Kara & Alex have just lost their father? It also grates.
Now onto Kelly - lovely to see her supporting Alex - and Kara - after the loss of Jeremiah. But does she know Kara is Supergirl? We still don’t know for certain! The inference in this episode is Kelly does know, as William tells them about the warehouse, then Kelly & Alex are at the tower with J’onn in the same outfits, as Supergirl lands, stating there was nothing at the warehouse. So yes, it is highly likely Kelly now knows. But how or when did she know. It’s these kind of details most fans actual want, not to have to make educated guesses on! This is a reason fans get frustrated. We were being told who used to get to know Supergirl’s identity, but now with Kelly, nothing! And people wonder why fans feel the LGBTQ characters are getting shortchanged this season. It isn’t just about lack of screen time. It’s about lack of depth of story, when previously they had people falling over themselves to show how they knew Kara was Supergirl.
Another example of this lack of depth or explanation is Brainy. Sure he is likely doing what he is because of future Brainy’s warning, but it still comes across as Brainy seemingly stupid considering his apparent intellect. We have been thrown these plot lines, but they’re then left for us to have to fill in the blanks as each episode airs, as we’re not getting them otherwise.
It is far too chaotic for my liking.
So once again my overriding sense after watching this episode is frustration. It still feels like a total mess, with no answers (& even if they give us those answers, 3 episodes - now 2 - would be nowhere near enough time to do it without rushing. It even felt rushed at times in this episode).
William continues to be an absolute waste of space, (and God do I feel sorry for Staz over this), taking perfectly good screen time away from other already established characters, who could do what he has just as easily.
The Kara and Lena push & pull is giving us nothing new! Nothing. It’s gone well past giving us angst to us having had enough. Like with Lex, they seem to have gone too far with a good thing, & now rather than enjoying it, the majority simply hate it. With a passion. I am sick to the back teeth with it. Lena deserves to finally be rid of this villain tag, & given her rightful place back with the Superfriends (after a damn sit down talk with Kara - not Supergirl - and get on some level ground for good this time). I don’t expect a miraculous friendship rebuilt in seconds, but I do want actual forward progress between them to stick. Not 1 step forward, 2 steps back. I certainly don’t want this carrying on into S6, or at least not without resolving more than this.
In all the 5 seasons I’ve watched Supergirl, I don’t think there has ever been such underlying anger or frustration on how the season has panned out, both from fans & media alike. The disconnect from the fans to the show is huge right now, & really I cannot understand how the end of S4, which was seen as a real step forward for the show, to the excitement of S5, & how it was being portrayed; to this.
I want so much to be able to sit here & write positively over the episodes generally, but too often this season I’ve not been able to do it. I feel so sorry for the cast, because I know they love the show so much, and I want nothing more than to be writing positively about it each episode, but I simply can’t do that.
So in conclusion.
Phenomenal directing by Melissa Benoist.
Complete & utter frustration & disconnect everywhere else.
