I combined footage from my Detektiv Conan Blu-ray with audio from my Case Closed FUNimation DVD and made an HD English dub clip compilation for Episodes 57-58, "The Holmes Freak Murder Case."

#detective conan #case closed #video #funimation english dub script #i wasn't actually gonna post this video to tumblr because it's so long (because i have a lot of feelings about this case!)#but folks on discord liked it and i'm all about my funi dub propaganda so why not right?#the dub script here is just so fun--and does so well at making the dialogue *work* and sound natural in english #and has so much flavor! it does arguably too much in terms of creative liberties but things like #'can i really trust what a kid saw?' of the sub translation compared to 'and what were you smoking before you ran out there?' in the dub #are much more enjoyable to me #(other fun phrasings: 'the one who's always hangin' around you guys' (sub) vs. 'the little-bitty one with the great big brain!' (dub))#(and 'of course not! the reason i applied for this tour was 'cuz i thought i might find kudo' (sub))#(vs. 'who me? no no no. actually i signed up because i was hoping to run into jimmy here. but i guess i'm out of luck' (dub))#(and so many more! this script just has so much character)#and while it is a shame that the dub eliminated heiji's accent i do like the changed line ('i know it's you!')#'cause you've met shinichi *once* heiji lol #but yeah this is a fun case! i'm really happy to have finally hd'd the funi dub for it :')#one of my favorite things about the funi dub is that jerry jewell (shinichi's va) voices conan's thoughts #and it's so nice to hear *shinichi* and heiji deducting together (and the way they finish each other's thoughts and vibe... it gets to me)

Anyone can make a zine btw most of mine are made from literal trash. I have a hoarding problem to be honest. I’ve had a lot of those scraps for years and years. Even those illustrations were trash - I found that book in an old house. Firm believer in people making zines and collages out of what they have. Start with a small space, like post it note size. I find that the smaller the space the more fun trying to fit everything together. It’s like a puzzle, and everyone has their own unique collage style. Find yours. I would love to see it :’)

#for me collage is one of the most rewarding hobbies I have.. again it’s like a puzzle. I love holding physical art #it’s so tedious at times but it’s soooo fun and so accessible. like I said I do it all the time with trash lol #yours doesn’t have to have a deep meaning you could literally just put things that are the same color together #ITS SO FUN GUYS. it’s like sorting. I love sorting..#I just say all this stuff cause I really often see people be like woww I wish I could make a zine. and I guess they just don’t think they #have all the stuff they need or the creativity or whatever. except you literally always do with this kind of thing.. so idk.. Uhm, quick batch of rough doodles from today. Nothing too impressive here just trying to strengthen my muscle memory and ability to recreate his given expressions. First two where using an image reference since I feel like I always go off model whenever I try on my own (hence the two last ones being more stylized) :/

Also another photo close-up of this one in particular because OOOOOH SIR I love when people draw him with thick glossy eyeshadow I can’t stop staring at his eyes like that help he’s just too damn gorgeous or something. I’ll try to give an update on how much I would allow myself to simp because with me being aroace I can never tell how to gauge these kinds of things with my fictional fixations << for now we’re chilling with some standard platonic admiration tho so it’s all good (…I think. A particular artwork would beg to disagree with me on that but shush we will get to it later lol. Innocent until proven guilty verdict)

I actually don't talk about this, but English is not my first language. I don't like to talk about my specific cultural composition or where I am/ my family has spread to be for several reasons, but, I am differing levels of competent at-least-conversational fluency in what I would say is 4 languages, and I want to learn so many more.

❄️ ⇢ what's your dream theme/plot for a fic, and who would write it best?

ooooh MAAAN I have so many little percolating concepts... that i think ANY moot could do if they felt comfy (I don't want to put anyone on the spot in any way). I have had a years long Google Drive folder of drafts/ research for a Victorian-era love triangle where Reader is married to Eren but having an affair with Zeke. And idk I have it literally outlined more than any other WIP I have in progress or have ever worked on, honestly, but I just can't ever actually get myself to progress on it. If anyone feels inspired to take up that mantle, I am okay with it lol.

🧩 ⇢ what will make you click away from a fanfiction immediately?

I'm going to be hopefully not rude here but I have a few. .. I am not, personally, a fan of first-person x reader fics; while of course any "reader" stand-in will have tastes of the author and an original character, and I understand that "you" is not everyone's cup of tea, the "I" feels too much like another character entirely. I guess the parallel argument can be made for "you" fics that it's hard to immerse oneself if the "you" is not doing things you would do or thinking the way you would think, but "I" feels even more impersonal, which is not why I (personally) go for x reader fics. Same goes for "y/n," ... I respect its place in fandom history and the personal growth of a reader but it immediately puts me in the headspace of being in 6th grade sneaking a read of Tokyo Mew Mew yuri lemons on fanfiction.net.

Also - I really don't mean to offend. But when a fic very overtly obviously takes place in Japan and there's something just jarringly wrong with realities or social customs or logistics.. I can't do it. And I feel bad about that because I don't mean to be snooty, and some stuff really is not going to be intuitively known or easily found through research if you don't know what to look for. That's totally fair. But I just can't read that or immerse myself in that and honestly it's usually pretty evident right off the bat where it's egregious.

#i complain about the japan thing all the time and i'm sorry but idk. also because - there's sometimes some p lazy writing that i see with it #NOT AUTOMATICALLY. NOT ALL THE TIME. but like... ok. weed is SO very illegal. i know someone who was fired/ deported for it #and there are nuances with that and the realities of smoking there because- i mean - it still DOES happen (obviously - like i Just said lol #soo don't say Reader and X are smoking in a park flat out lmao. but you CAN be creative with it and make a more enriching story from it.#etc. many such examples. i just saw an IG post of that guy with his new wife and so that's what came to mind first lol #SORRY TO RAMBLE but it's a recurring grouch.
