Desperate times call for desperate measures

So im currently in Florida working at Walt Disney World as a performer for a year and in Florida there are like thunderstorms, etc every arvo in Summer even though it’s like really clear and nice in the morning (and humid af that i wanna jump in snow and stay there for hours).

Okay, anyway, tonight i was walking back to my apartment in this storm with only thongs (aka flip flops) on like no umbrella, jumper or anything cos id just gone to Magic Kingdom (one of the main parks) to run around for a bit and the weather was perfectly fine this afternoon.

ANYHOO. There are no footpaths or anything on the way to my apartment from the entrance so i tried to walked in the very middle of the road but there were worms like EVERYWHERE. I passed like 6 or something and i was freaking out and was making these squeaky noises every time i saw one. My elbows were like pressed firmly against my ribs and my hands were covering my mouth and i was TRYING NOT TO CRY THE ENTIRE TIME.

I got to my apartment door and my phone had died and i knew there was going to be AT LEAST one worm outside my door. There were no lights or anything and i couldnt use the torch from my phone so i just stood there in the hallway, hunched over, squinting into the darkness, looking for worms. I saw one and i just stared at it for a minute, contemplating how i should go about getting into my apartment.

BUT GUESS WHAT. GOD WAS ON MY SIDE BECAUSE this *cute.. I think ? I couldnt really see, i was too busy internally freaking out* dude was leaving the apartment opposite mine. I literally blurted out, “hello-will-you-open-my-door-for-me-thereisawormandiamsoscaredofthemandicantgetintomyapartmentplshalp” and he was so sweet and did without hesitation. THEN HE WAS ALL, “here, ill stand in front of the worm while you walk in, okay ? :)” and was all smiley (well, it sounded like it, i was watching the worm, duh) so i legged it into my apartment and literally slammed the door in his face as i was shouting, ‘thank you, thank you so much, bye !!?’

I have come to the conclusion that i am deathly afraid of worms and i would definitely take a giant spider over them any day. #youknowyoureaustralianwhen
