ARE THERE ANY OTHER CREELS I SHOULD KNOW ABOUT??? (Is Sam Owens Victor Creel in the Edward Timeline?)
Okay. Bear with me, guys. Open your minds to this curiosity voyage, PLEASE.
So, Sam Owens. The weirdly mysterious guy who’s connected to a lot of things and knows a lot but can’t quite be pinned down. I think he might be Victor Creel from another timeline. PLEASE hear me out on this one.
So, the parallels between Victor’s costuming and Owens’ costuming have haunted me for a long time. Owens wears the same sort of beige cardigan with dark buttons that Victor wears on the porch, and in general, they share the “cardigan with collared shirt”, look.
Tumblr media
But there’s even more parallels. For example, this shot parallel:
Tumblr media
And both of then referring to “evil”:
Tumblr media
And obviously, we have this Victor, in Pennhurst, so this one cant be Owens:
Tumblr media
If this Victor/Pennhurst Victor has a son named Henry, though, and a daughter named Alice, what about the Edward timeline Victor? What about the one that had a wife named Alice and a daughter named Virginia? What happened to him?
Well…
Tumblr media
A slightly different Victor, from a slightly different timeline.
“Isn’t the Victor that we see in Pennhurst older-looking than Owens?”
Yes. Which tracks PERFECTLY because the Edward timeline Victor was 35 in 1959, whereas the Henry timeline/Pennhurst Victor was 40 in 1959 and 67 in 1986. Which would put Owens/Edward Victor as 62.
And Paul Reiser himself is 67 now, so he definitely wasn’t too young to play a 62 year old.
We also see Owens call possessed Will “son,” which, if Edward is Vecna, and Will was possessed by Edward/Vecna, and Owens is Edward’s father, making Edward his son….
Tumblr media
We also have the whole scene with Sullivan showing up to Owens’ house.
Owens specifically holds a photo of Connie Frazier- who is likely Edward timeline Alice Creel/Mother Alice and therefore would have been Owens’/Victor’s previous wife before the Creel murders happened/pre-1959/before Connie-Alice seemingly got her mind wiped by the lab, and the scene also cuts to a flashback of Connie’s death, to really hammer home the Connie/Alice aspect of it.
Tumblr media
We also have the pillow with the roses on it RIGHT behind Owens during this whole scene (and he later sits on it)- roses, very similar to the roses on the window of the Creel door.
Tumblr media
And we also get this line from Sullivan when he’s at Owen’s house:
Tumblr media
A problem that Owens created… Almost like the problem is his son. Almost like his son is Edward/Vecna (the problem). Almost like Owens has/had a son that his post-Connie/Alice wife calls “Peter.” Almost like there was a “Peter,” in the lab that Brenner calls on the intercom, and almost like “Peter Ballard,” was the casting name for 001/Edward/Henry. And also the fact that Sullivan says that it was Owens/men like Owens who created this problem in the first place. First, almost like 001…..
And there’s also the fact that Nancy uses the fake name “Ruth,” when visiting Victor in Pennhurst, and that “Ruth, Nevada,” is where Owens lives, creating yet another tie between Owens and Victor.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We also have THIS line from Sullivan towards Owens:
Tumblr media
Which, this is a WHOLE other analysis in and of itself, but there’s been something scratching at me regarding the parallels between Brenner and Mother-Virginia Creel, and if Brenner is SOMEHOW Virginia (even in the sense that there’s some weird Thing-esque shapeshifting shit going on and he pretended to be her which is also interesting considering this post that I made about how “Victor,” in the Massacre at Hawkins Lab Creel sequence holds Henry/Edward the same way that Brenner holds El), and if Owens is Victor, then that would make the “mommy and daddy,” comment track as well.
Owens also talks about how Brenner is overestimating One- almost like he knows One. Almost like he still views him as a child/less of a threat…
Tumblr media
And there’s also the fact that in the Indianapolis Gazette/Edward timeline, Victor was found wandering along the side of the road on the morning of the murders, and like I talked about in this post, the description of him as being “slight,” and lacking fine motor skills, may point to Victor having been at Hawkins Lab for much longer than a single night. And I don’t know which Victor is which, but if Victor was in the lab on the night of the Creel murders in Edward’s timeline, then who the hell was at the Creel house? Especially since again, the “Victor,” ay the Creel house that night holds Henry/Edward the same way that Brenner holds El. Anyway, that’s a whole other can of worms.
I think that one of the Owens is Edward’s father and the other one is not (as Edward doesn’t exist outside the Edward timeline), depending on the timeline. And there’s a chance that either a.) Peter was a fake name for Edward or b.) Peter was Owens’ actual son in the timeline where Owens was NOT Edward’s father/is NOT victor creel (the Henry timeline). I’m still digging into this more to click all of the pieces together, but just wanted to get it out there today.

Untitled Fantasy-Western Novella
At least a snippet of it beneath the break below!
Its the introduction to what I hope will be a series of novels about Alexandra Fernandez Sullivan the Irish-Mexican young woman during the 1870s and 80s. Shortly after the American Civil War, with the Confederates the victors, unable to exert control over their land which broke into city-states once Jefferson Davis passed the Republic of Texas broke off, annexed some land around it, and butted heads with both Mexico and a newly independent California.
The story starts with Alexandra still a young of 11.
There stood a rugged, mountain of a middle-aged man with striking brown-red hair a double-barred shotgun wedged in the crook of a thick arm -- planted on the porch both a guardian and a lighthouse with lantern held high; its yellow-orange light cast across the yard to reach its tendrils across the scrub and dirt. A large jackrabbit with its large ears flat, ran off toward the golden-topped indiangrass that bordered their property.
Just tucked on the inside wall of a relatively small cabin, its wood not yet weathered, sat a small table reserved usually for the statue of the Santa Madre and whatever offerings Mother felt needed, but now joined by an old army revolver -- a relic from a life Father had left behind, yet there it sat all the same.
By the large window, hidden behind a dark green curtain, stood Mother in her Gingham dress, hunting rifle in hand. A proud Oaxaqueña Mexicana woman whose long hair colored as dark as the night was tied back with a leather strap. Her brown eyes watched the riders coming in but didn't seem to sense any danger.
In the spacious main room, everything centered around the fireplace, which kept the area awash with warmth and light. Two children sat at the table, an older boy of twelve named after his grandfather, Kelly, who still lived in the old county; and, the youngest by two years, Alexandra, who wore a patched, multicolored dress. They poked around at their dinners -- corn tortillas wrapped around stewed rabbit meat topped with the traditional bitter, somewhat spicy dark brown mole. Tonight, unlike others, the children weren't as hungry since curiosity demanded their attention despite Mother's orders for them to stay and eat, they huddled by her side.

Joel McCrea, Claudette Colbert, and Rudy Vallee in The Palm Beach Story (Preston Sturges, 1942)
Cast: Claudette Colbert, Joel McCrea, Mary Astor, Rudy Vallee, Sig Arno, Robert Warwick, Torben Meyer, Jimmy Conlin, William Demarest, Jack Norton, Robert Greig, Roscoe Ates, Chester Conlin, Franklin Pangborn. Screenplay: Preston Sturges. Cinematography: Victor Milner. Art direction: Hans Dreier, Ernst Fegté. Film editing: Stuart Gilmore. Music: Victor Young.
There are few scenes in movies that I cherish more than the encounter of Gerry (Claudette Colbert) and the Wienie King (Robert Dudley). Then again, The Palm Beach Story is filled with things I cherish: The wonderfully enigmatic opening credits, which must have had people sitting through the film twice to comprehend. The way William Demarest drawls out "bangbaang" when he's pretending to shoot targets on the train -- before the rest of the Ale and Quail Club arrives with loaded shotguns to blow the hell out of the club car. J.D. Hackensacker III's (Rudy Vallee) inexhaustible supply of pince-nez. The fetching outfit Gerry fashions from a pair of men's pajamas and a bath towel, using the pajama shirt as a blouse, the pants as a kind of snood, and the towel as a wraparound skirt -- as she remains blithely unconscious that the word "Pullman" is emblazoned on the backside. The way Sig Arno as Toto steals every scene he's in, even if he's only standing in the background. Mary Astor's giddy, horny Princess Centimillia. The sly fun poked at Vallee's past as a crooner. The way Sturges finds something funny for even bit players, like the cops on the street, to do or say. Joel McCrea and Colbert are of course peerless at this sort of comedy. I do have to admit that I'm a little distracted every time I watch Colbert on screen, tracking the way she always manages to get on the right side in every scene, the better to show off the preferred left side of her face. I wonder, though, if Sturges and cinematographer Victor Milner didn't pull a trick on Colbert in the scene in which Gerry is sitting at a dressing table: Though she's on the right side of the screen, the only view we get of her face is a reflection in the mirror of her supposedly inferior right profile. The Palm Beach Story is not as sexy as The Lady Eve (1941) or as satiric as Sullivan's Travels (1941), but it remains for me an inexhaustible delight.

FF OC Introduction: Uncharted
Tumblr media
Aries | Enneagram: 3w4 | ENTP
I'm not just a treasure hunter. I'm a master of seduction. The thrill of the chase is matched only by the thrill of igniting a fire within those who dare to cross my path.
Tumblr media
Welcome to the enigmatic world of Maxwell Powers, a treasure hunter, historian, and seductive rogue with a thirst for uncovering the mysteries of the past. Born on March 27, 1989, in the vibrant city of Boston, Massachusetts, Max was raised in a household where stories of ancient civilizations and daring explorations were woven into the very fabric of his being.
From an early age, Max's innate curiosity and love for history set him on a path of discovery. Pursuing a degree in Archeology and History at a prestigious college, he delved deep into the study of ancient civilizations, honing his skills as a historian and researcher. His dedication and passion garnered admiration from his professors and peers, establishing him as a rising star in the field.
It was during his college years that fate intervened, leading him to cross paths with Emma Reynolds, a spirited and ambitious young woman who shared his affinity for treasure hunting. Despite their differing approaches and a simmering rivalry, Max and Emma formed an unconventional bond that surpassed the boundaries of friendship and competition.
However, as the pursuit of their shared ambitions grew intense, Max found himself at a crossroads. Driven by his relentless ambition and the yearning for untamed adventures, he made a difficult decision to carve his own path, leaving Emma behind and severing both personal and professional ties. Their parting was marked by a bittersweet understanding that their destinies might intertwine once more in the treacherous world they both inhabited.
With his education complete, Max embarked on a career as an archaeologist, specializing in historical research and artifact analysis. His profound knowledge of ancient civilizations, coupled with his meticulous attention to detail, made him a highly sought-after expert in the field. Max's insatiable hunger for adventure and his unyielding determination led him to become a seasoned treasure hunter, renowned for his audacious expeditions and unrelenting pursuit of lost treasures.
It was in 2017, within the enchanting walls of a quaint tea house in Marrakech, that Max's fate took an unexpected turn. Niamh Donovan, accompanied by her trusted mentor, Victor Sullivan, stumbled upon Max, captivated by his enigmatic allure and undeniable charm. Little did Max know that this encounter would set in motion a series of events that would shape his journey as a treasure hunter and test the depths of his character.
Their meeting ignited a passionate and tumultuous affair, fueled by the intoxicating rush of shared adventures and the allure of the unknown. Max's magnetic personality and self-assured bravado left an indelible mark on Niamh. Yet, beneath the surface of their fiery connection, Max's underlying ambitions reared their head. In a moment of vulnerability and desire, he succumbed to the temptation to steal Niamh’s map leading to the coveted Eye of the Sahara, forever tainting their intimate night with the bitter taste of betrayal.
This encounter with Niamh set the stage for a complex and ever-evolving dynamic between Max, Niamh, and Sully. Their paths would intertwine time and again, driven by their shared pursuit of treasures and the lingering mix of attraction and resentment.
Max's encounters with Niamh remained an indelible presence in his life. The unfinished business and unresolved tension served as constant reminders of their intense connection. While Niamh's heart ultimately found solace in the embrace of Nathan Drake, Max couldn't help but be drawn back into the web of their shared history whenever their paths crossed.
Through introspection, forgiveness, and personal growth, Max sought redemption for his past actions. He learned from his mistakes, fostering a newfound sense of honor, integrity, and a genuine desire to seek artifacts of historical significance. The allure of wealth and fame lost its luster, replaced by a quest for self-discovery and the chance to rewrite his story.

Hi. I’m back into Tomb Raider after 4+ months away. And do I have yet another WIP Fanfic in the works:
As you know, I love to kidnap my video game women. Including one certain Lara Croft. 2013 gets too much hate for it (even if they sorta went overboard first 20 mins with Torture Lara Croft Simulator 2013), but Lara eventually toughens up enough to save her friends and destroy the curse that is Yamatai and it’s Sun Queen.
When I finally played 2013 last year, some bad plot and aged/broken at times gameplay aside…it’s a brilliant and unique game that begins the road to this new Lara Croft being A SURVIVOR who still wants to honor her father, but in the right way.
In particular did I really love her surrogate father-daughter relationship with Conrad Roth, a English Royal Marine turned sailor and freelance treasure hunter. Roth was her dad’s best friend and bodyguard, promising to look after Lara upon Richard’s death. He’s watched Lara grow up into a young woman who’s too set for adventure. But his Endurance Expedition and it’s unfortunate marooning will not only test their relationship, but their bonds with the rest of the crew as well.
In essence, Conrad Roth is Lara Croft’s counter to Victor “Goddamn” Sullivan and his relationship with Nathan Drake.
With all of that said, let’s get to the fic setup: this is a planned Tomb Raider 2013 Fix It/AU. As usual with most of my fics, expect “Damsel Whump” a tad more often or two than even 2013 showed. Aka more Lara Croft and you guessed it: She WILL be properly BOUND AND GAGGED (likely too alongside her best friend Samantha Nishimura in THAT SCENE included).
But it’s not just damsel whump I want to feature: I want to do what 2013 unfortunately failed to do beyond certain dialogue and a very few select moments (unfortunates over half of Lara’s development in the Survivor Trilogy is via her Survivor comics set before and in-between 2013/Rise+Rise/Shadow) and that is CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. I want to tell more about Lara and Roth’s bond as well as the rest of the gang, including Lara’s best friendship Sam and how she is always doing her best even in the face of danger to boost Lara’s fragile confidence up.
Btw I will go ahead and spoil one plot point in which I want to do: I want Roth to LIVE PAST 2013 and INTO RISE. Granted, thanks to the events of my current WIP (crossover with Uncharted post-Lost Legacy featuring Sam Drake and Chloe Frazer), Roth will still perish. But I feel like he deserves more time to shine before his eventual demise in Lara’s arms.
And I will give one more major plot point I want to develop: Lara’s other mentor in 2013 is Dr. James Whitman, an American archeologist who to not say too much…doesn’t have the most outgoing or caring personality. How does he get to this point and will his and Lara’s bond ever be repaired? Find out already in this opening chapter!
With all that said and done, here’s Chapter 1 of Tied Up Tomb Raider 2013: Bondage of the Sun Queen! Chapter 1 alone contains creepy behavior including non consensual touching and oogling, kidnapping, non consensual bondage, and implied rape. But expect in future chapters the strong language, violence with blood, gore, and featuring of major character deaths through the fic to come along with of course more non con (won’t do explicit rape compared to many of my darkest stuff here, but for those fans of my darkest stuff: I’ll likely do some oneshot stuff or even short chapter AUs of Lara, Sam, and maybe even Joslin Reyes having their way with 😈)!
Oh and PS, hope you enjoy the manips down below too in addition to our opening chapter. PPS, now I’m wanting to write a weird out of left field crossover between Tomb Raider 2013 and Grand Theft Auto down the line. Read the captions and you’ll tell the potential plot bunny. 😏

Terminal Zero - Brace for the End (2024)
🇦🇺Australia
Australian rock band Terminal Zero has released their new studio album. The full-length album was named "Brace for the End" and appeared on May 31, 2024. The tracklist included 10 tracks in total.
Tumblr media
Left Lane Cruiser - Bayport BBQ Blues (2024)
🇺🇲USA
After 5 years of silence, the iconic blues duo returns with a new album. Hello everyone, we are back with a new album and an old sound, our roots are where we started, what could be better than this. "Bayport BBQ Blues" is dedicated to the memory of our good friend Chris Johnson, the organizer of the Deep Blues festival.
Tumblr media
TENNESSEE BLUES MOB - DEEP DARK ALIBI 2024
USA / Heavy Blues Rock
These experienced musicians have played together in different bands over the years, honing their mutual understanding and developing a unique sound that surpasses the sum of its parts. With a great guitar, a gorgeous Hammond and well-coordinated work of the rhythm section!
Tumblr media
STRANGE FRUIT - ONCE SO HIGH 2024
UK /Classic Rock
Tumblr media
The band captivated audiences in British clubs and festivals, including Secret Garden Party, Camden Rocks, The Wilderness Festival, White Heat and others, performed twice in front of John Varvatos, participated in Ringo Starr's "Peace Rocks" campaign. They also played with such musicians as "Florence and The Machine", "Dizzee Rascal" and many others. But their story is full of mysteries, I found such information on one resource that the film "Still Crazy" was shot, which is a funny story about "Strange Fruit", a fictional rock band of the 70s, which 20 years after the breakup was persuaded to reorganize to give a reunion concert at a rock festival in Visbehe.
Over the past few months, they have been busy composing and recording tracks for their international publishing project Rondor (Universal Music) and headlining in clubs in the UK, Spain, France and Japan. They are just finishing recording the exciting new single “My England” at KONK Studios, which was mixed by award-winning producer Victor Van Vugt (P.J. Harvey, Beth Orton, Nick Cave), which will be released at the end of winter 2015 with an accompanying video.
Quinn Sullivan – Salvation (2024)
USA /Blues Rock
Tumblr media
Quinn Sullivan is an American singer, songwriter and guitarist from New Bedford, Massachusetts, USA.
Quinn Sullivan is another young guitar prodigy associated with Buddy Guy. A beautiful legend says: baby Queen approached the maestro before the concert, where his dad brought him, and asked him to sign a guitar. To which Buddy said he would be happy to sign if the boy would play something for him. The impression of this game was enough to invite the guy on stage already during the concert and support him in every possible way over the following years (it is suspected that the old and the younger are connected not only by music as such, but also by a commercial contract, according to which the veteran makes the boy public and receives a certain margin from this). That is, since early childhood, the question of choosing a profession has not stood for Mr. Sullivan.
X-PLEASURE – HIS MASTER’S VOICE 2024
Norway/Melodic Pop Rock / Classic Rock / Soft Rock
Tumblr media
X-pleasure is a Norwegian rock band from Tonsberg. The band was founded in 1999 by Ruben Heide and Dan Heide, first under the name pleasure, which was later transformed into X-pleasure. In 2000, the band signed their first record deal with a record company and released their first album in 2003.
His Masters Voice is the second album by Norwegian band X-pleasure, released 20 years after their debut album. All music and lyrics are written by Dan Heide and arranged by the entire band.
Ten songs were written during a period when many big changes were taking place. Coping with loss, grief, depression, as well as love, hope, faith and personal success. This is a very emotional and deeply personal record created by a band that hasn't been in the same room for 15 years, but who can't wait to show the world what X-pleasure is capable of.
JOE CLARK & THE PEACEMAKERS - HILLBILLY VOODOO 2024
USA/Classic Rock / Southern Blues Rock
Tumblr media
This is not country, not rock, not southern, but an explosive mix of all these musical styles. The debut album "Storyteller" was released in 2022.
Then the purely acoustic album "10 Years Too Late", here he returned to electricity.
Joe performs solo, as a duo, or as part of a full-fledged band known as JOE CLARK & THE PEACEMAKERS. The band combines country and rock, creating an innovative sound that has captivated listeners around the world. Clark's most anticipated album, Hillbilly Voodoo, will be released in May 2024.

1745 – Charles-Victor de Bonstetten (d.1832), a prominent individual in early Swiss gay history, was a writer and government official . It has long been speculated that Bonstetten, during his early twenties, was the object of affection of the homosexual English poet Thomas Gray .
In December 1769, the young Swiss aristocrat, living in London to improve his English, was introduced to the much older Gray. Shortly after this introduction, Bonstetten moved with Gray to Pembroke Hall, Cambridge, where he lived close to Gray's lodgings and spent his evenings in Gray's rooms. In a January 1770 letter to his confidante, Rev. Norton Nicholls, Gray wrote: "I never saw such a boy: our breed is not made on this model."
Bonstetten was obliged to return to Switzerland at the end of three months, but the two men were known to have corresponded regularly until Gray's death in 1771, although few of Bonstetten's letters have survived.
Bonstetten's best-known work is The Man of the North and the Man of the South; or the Influence of Climate (L'Homme du Midi et L'Homme du Nord, ou L'influence du Climat, 1824), an anthropological study of the influence of climate on human development.
Bonstetten went on to become the presumed lover of the Swiss historian and public official Johannes von Müller (1752-1809). Several love letters between Bonstetten and Müller have survived.

1856 – Louis Sullivan (d.1924) was an American architect, and has been called a "father of skyscrapers" and "father of modernism". He was an influential architect of the Chicago School, a mentor to Frank Lloyd Wright, and an inspiration to the Chicago group of architects who have come to be known as the Prairie School. Along with Wright and Henry Hobson Richardson, Sullivan is one of "the recognized trinity of American architecture". The phrase "form follows function" is attributed to him, although he credited the concept to ancient Roman architect Vitruvius. In 1944, Sullivan was the second architect to posthumously receive the AIA Gold Medal.
Sullivan was born to a Swiss-born mother, and an Irish-born father, Patrick Sullivan. Both had immigrated to the United States in the late 1840s. He learned that he could both graduate from high school a year early and bypass the first two years at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology by passing a series of examinations. Entering MIT at the age of sixteen, Sullivan studied architecture there briefly. After one year of study, he moved to Philadelphia and took a job with architect Frank Furness.
The Depression of 1873 dried up much of Furness's work, and he was forced to let Sullivan go. Sullivan moved to Chicago in 1873 to take part in the building boom following the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. He worked for William LeBaron Jenney, the architect often credited with erecting the first steel frame building. After less than a year with Jenney, Sullivan moved to Paris and studied at the École des Beaux-Arts for a year. He returned to Chicago and began work for the firm of Joseph S. Johnston & John Edelman as a draftsman. Johnston & Edleman were commissioned for the design of the Moody Tabernacle, and had the interior decorative fresco secco stencils (stencil technique applied on dry plaster) designed by Sullivan. In 1879 Dankmar Adler hired Sullivan. A year later, Sullivan became a partner in Adler's firm. This marked the beginning of Sullivan's most productive years.
Adler and Sullivan initially achieved fame as theater architects. While most of their theaters were in Chicago, their fame won commissions as far west as Pueblo, Colorado, and Seattle, Washington. The culminating project of this phase of the firm's history was the 1889 Auditorium Building (1886–90, opened in stages) in Chicago, an extraordinary mixed-use building that included not only a 4,200-seat theater, but also a hotel and an office building with a 17-story tower and commercial storefronts at the ground level of the building, fronting Congress and Wabash Avenues. After 1889 the firm became known for their office buildings, particularly the 1891 Wainwright Building in St. Louis and the Schiller (later Garrick) Building and theater (1890) in Chicago. Other buildings often noted include the Chicago Stock Exchange Building (1894), the Guaranty Building (also known as the Prudential Building) of 1895–96 in Buffalo, New York, and the 1899–1904 Carson Pirie Scott Department Store by Sullivan on State Street in Chicago.
Like all American architects, Adler and Sullivan suffered a precipitous decline in their practice with the onset of the Panic of 1893. According to Charles Bebb, who was working in the office at that time, Adler borrowed money to try to keep employees on the payroll. By 1894, however, in the face of continuing financial distress with no relief in sight, Adler and Sullivan dissolved their partnership. The Guaranty Building was considered the last major project of the firm.
By both temperament and connections, Adler had been the one who brought in new business to the partnership, and following the rupture Sullivan received few large commissions after the Carson Pirie Scott Department Store. He went into a twenty-year-long financial and emotional decline, beset by a shortage of commissions, chronic financial problems, and alcoholism. He obtained a few commissions for small-town Midwestern banks, wrote books, and in 1922 appeared as a critic of Raymond Hood's winning entry for the Tribune Tower competition.
According to biographer Robert Twombley, though he never publicly identified as such, Sullivan likely also faced the challenges of being gay at a time when such an identity or orientation faced harsh social and legal stigma and sanction.
He died in a Chicago hotel room on April 14, 1924. He left a wife, from whom he was separated.

1933 – Clive (Michael) Boutilier was a Gay Canadian Immigrant from Nova Scotia, who moved to NYC (Brooklyn) as a permanent resident on June 22, 1955, age 21. He was accompanied by his mother, Mary, brother, Eldred Andrew Boutilier and 2 other siblings. He had quit high school early without graduating in order to work and help care for his family in Canada. In the States he worked as a building maintenance man, eventually advancing to work for a large company in Manhattan. His parents were divorced. His father, Burton Melbourne Boutilier, stayed behind in Canada and died in Toronto in 1959.

L to R: Andrew Boutillier & his wife Joyce; Clive Boutillier & his partner Eugene O'Rourke at Coney Island 1960s
Clive met and began living with with his American boyfriend/life partner, Eugene O'Rourke, in Brooklyn in 1959. They lived in a separate apartment in the same apartment building as Clive's mother and American stepfather, Joseph McKenna, whom his mother had met and married in Brooklyn in 1959.
During his US immigration interview in 1963, it was discovered by the INS Agent that Clive was Gay. At that time, any LGBTQ person was considered to automatically have a "psychopathic personality" and subject to deportation. It was also grounds for denial of entry into the US. The law was passed by the US Congress in 1952, during the McCarthy/Red Scare/Lavender Scare era and was made even more detestable by Congress in 1965 in light of the Boutilier case that was then ongoing. It remained on the books and enforced until the 1990s when the Clinton administration finally repealed it.
As a result, the INS officer ordered Clive to be deported, but with the help of the ACLU, the NYCLU, an early Gay Civil Rights group based in Philadelphia (The Janus Society/The Homosexual Law Reform Society) and Civil Rights Attorney, Mrs. Blanch Freedman (and her husband Atty David M. Freeman) with the American Committee for the Protection of the Foreign Born, Clive fought back in the courts, his case becoming one of the earliest, if unsuccessful, Gay Rights cases in the US.
Subsequently, his case, Clive Michael Boutilier v. The Immigration and Naturalization Service (1966) was heard by the United States 2nd Circuit Court which upheld his deportation order. Ultimately, his case, Boutilier v. Immigration & Naturalization Service (1967) was appealed and take up by the United States Supreme Court, which upheld the ruling of the 2nd Circuit and affirmed his deportation order.
The Court documents mention that at that time (1967) Clive had been living with his boyfriend, Eugene, for 8 years. Nonetheless, he was to be be forcibly torn from his family, and the love of his life, and deported back to Canada within months. However, shortly thereafter, obviously distraught, Clive attempted suicide by stepping in front of a car, sustaining injuries which left him somewhat mentally and physically disabled for the rest of his life.
As a result, his deportation was postponed until Nov 12, 1968. At that time he moved back to Nova Scotia and years later transferred to an assisted living facility in Welland, Niagrara Co. Ontario, near relatives, where he ultimately passed away in 2003.

1792 – France: The head of Princess Lamballe is displayed on a stick and paraded before the imprisoned Marie Antoinette. The two were thought to be lovers. Princess Lamballe was married at the age of 17 to Louis Alexandre de Bourbon-Penthièvre, Prince de Lamballe, the heir to the greatest fortune in France. After her marriage, which lasted a year, she went to court and became the confidante of Queen Marie Antoinette. She was killed in the massacres of September 1792 during the French Revolution.

1971 – In Minnesota, Jack Baker (b.1942) and Mike McConnell (b.1942) are the first same-sex couple to be legally married when Jack changed his first name to Pat and the marriage license was granted. John "Jack" Baker and James Michael McConnell filed for a marriage license in Minnesota. The clerk of the Hennepin County District Court, Gerald Nelson, said he had "no intention of issuing a marriage license," that would "result in an undermining and destruction of the entire legal concept of our family structure in all areas of law."
In mid-August 1971, Baker and McConnell took up residence in Blue Earth County and applied to the District Court in Mankato for a license to marry which was granted once the waiting period expired. Rev. Roger Lynn, a Methodist minister, solemnized their marriage on September 3rd. They were the first legally married couple and remain together to this day.

Joan Crawford in Johnny Guitar (Nicholas Ray, 1954) Cast: Joan Crawford, Sterling Hayden, Mercedes McCambridge, Scott Brady, Ward Bond, Ben Cooper, Ernest Borgnine, John Carradine, Royal Dano. Screenplay: Philip Yordan, based on a novel by Roy Chanslor. Cinematography: Harry Stradling Sr. Art direction: James W. Sullivan. Film editing: Richard L. Van Enger. Music: Victor Young. Nicholas Ray's weird Western baffled critics and audiences at the time, but is now celebrated as a visionary triumph, even interpreted as a satire on McCarthyism. In 2008 it was added to the "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" films preserved in the Library of Congress's National Film Registry. I don't know about its cultural, historical, or aesthetic significance, but I do know that its performances by Joan Crawford and Mercedes McCambridge are some of the most entertaining ever put on film, even if the actresses hated what they were doing at the time -- and hated each other. There's nothing else like it.
