hiya, i'm not sure if there's many people on here who post about yuzuya, the asmartist who does character audios and their most popular duo being kirishima and bakugou from my hero academia. they have an ongoing fantasy au series with the pair and the listener and its probably my favorite isekai haha.

i've imagined many scenarios about how the series might end. there's so many potential ways it could go and each is as tantalising for the angst potential. kiri, baku and listener could all confess their feelings but ultimately it is decided that listener still needs to return to their world. or no one confesses, all three pining.

when it comes to the moment of the listener reaching the portal to go home (it's been a portal in my head), I've had two scenarios. one, everyone pines, the listener goes through willingly and as soon as it closes behind them, they immediately turn around and beg the thin air to "please, please take me back! i made a mistake, please i can't....i can't be in a world where they aren't."

or, the trio is down to the wire, having been delayed by the group that's been pursuing them. they get to the alter, put the stone in but a fight breaks out, kiri and baku try to buy the listener time, yelling at them to get through the portal, to not worry and take the chance to go home. and the listener almost well...listens. but they hesitate. and turn back, determined to fight with and protect their friends. their companions. their protectors. their dragons. their soul flames. and this could end with the listener joining in the fight, winning alongside the duo and while the boys are devastated that the listener can now never return, they're relieved that the third to their trio isn't gone from their lives.

or, the listener turns to join in. to be honest with their feelings. to protect the ones they love. and either one of the boys or an enemy, blasts or forces the listener through the portal. it closes as the listener scrambles to go back through and the listener is left, on their knees, reaching out, crying out kiri and baku's names. the last thing they see is the two smile in relief before facing the enemy once more. and once again, the listener begs to be let back, to be allowed protect the ones they love. and their cries are met by the musty silence of the library.

THANKFULLY

we know this trio lives happily ever after. but we love the spice of a little angst now and again

I’m listening to this again and just. All the thoughts going through the traveller’s head, like…

Staying with them is putting them in more danger than they could have possibly imagined. If they felt the weight of that debt before, with bandits and cursed forests, then the threat ahead must have increased it tenfold.

How could they in good conscience ask these people to put themselves at any more risk? They don’t want either of them to get hurt.

And Bakugou’s right — all for a stranger, who they will never see again.

But at the same time…had they imagined the friendship and bond between them all? Does it mean more to the traveller than it does to Kiri or Baku? Were they an idiot to let themselves get so attached?

The words cut deep, but they cut deeper still because of the grains of truth in them.

And now the traveller is truly alone in this strange world, without the only people they know and have relied on all this time. The utter despair, the contradictions their mind must be pulling them to and from.

I need to go home. Leaving will be unbearable. I can’t do this alone. I can’t put them in more danger. They don’t care about me the way I thought they did. I care about them too much.

I ate this episode up, if you couldn’t tell.

On the outside, looking in.

I’ve been an outsider my entire life. Always looking from the outside in. In the quiet corners of existence, where shadows linger and whispers echo, I’ve stood, a solitary figure, Peering through the veil of belonging. Wishing, wanting to belong. To become more than a stranger, to become an ally, a friend at most. I wanted a bond, one that could not be broken, woven from stardust. A constellation of trust, shared secrets, and resilience. Yet as the stardust began to intertwine, with promises of creating a bond, flames licked at its edges before the fire began to grow. Leaving only embers left behind of what once was.

  Fire was a stubborn thing, being both the creator and destroyer of beautiful things. Bakugou reminded me of fire, a passionate, intense, and unyielding spirit. He was able to withstand the difficult times we faced; he was passionate about getting me home. While Kirishima reminded me of the stars, he had a luminous glow, one that illuminated the darkness. Something that draws both the eyes and hearts towards him, his smile washes all the bad thoughts away. The three of us together felt good, it felt right. However, there seemed to always be a barrier that seemed to block us from truly connecting. In a way, it felt like the universe was putting a stop from us being woven together. The universe was cruel, why did it have to choose me to go through this? And why did she make my companions so easy to love? Why did a stupid stone have to be the one to decide whether I could go back home or not. Most of these questions could just not be answered. 

“I uprooted my entire life for a god’s damn stranger.”

A stranger. He changed. The words shifted: “traveler” to “stranger.” Once comforting, now distant a vast expanse between us. Yet I could not find it in myself to blame him, I was a stranger, and like he said a mere charity. But it would be a lie if I said his words didn’t leave a stinging feeling behind. 

This journey was a risky endeavor from the start, and perhaps my optimism was foolish. I clung to the fragile thread of hope, believing that somehow, against all odds, I could find my way back home. Inside my head, there was a brewing storm, each gust pulling me in conflicting directions. The thunder of doubt clashed with the lightning of anxiety, illuminating the chaos within. And all I could think about was running as I watched Kirishima and Bakugou argue. If I was a burden, then I would leave. So I ran, I ran until I couldn't hear Kirishima's pleas for me to come back, I ran until my legs felt like they would give out on me. By the time I had stopped, I realized I ended up a clearing. The slightly cold breaze hitting my face felt refreshing. I gazed upon my surroundings, the twinkling stars caught my eye—luminous and captivating. But even in their celestial brilliance, I found myself yielding to self-pity, a weighty veil that wrapped around me. I knew it was never going to work out, yet I clung to the hope that somehow, someway, we could’ve defied those odds.

UPDATE!(9/27/23): Upon listening again, I retract this statement. My new theory is that the listener is an Azure dragon kin and that's where the Azures disappeared to.

a/n: reminder the plot is progressed by bakugo telling the story of how he and kirishima met the traveler. this is my idea of how this part of the story went.

“so eijirou in dragon form managed to fly us out of the manor.”

“…”

“…and when we were safe enough at a distanced and tucked deep enough into the forest, we set up camp.”

“and you went on a grumpy little walk.”

“i was not grumpy!”

“you were grumpy.”

“when i chased after you, you seemed grumpy to me.”

“i had a lot on my mind!”

“YOU HURT MY FEELINGS!!”

“WE UNDERESTIMATED THE DANGER OF THE JOURNEY!”

“YOU HURT MY FEELINGS!”

“You made them cry!”

“HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THEY WERE GONNA RUN AWAY LIKE A DUMBASS?!?”
