Alright, I got another big infodump for you!

First up, another characteristic for the Aviator:

Their big fuzzy tail is prehensile! (i.e. it grabs things) This is how they're able to carry large, unwieldy objects up to their hunting perches while their paws are occupied with climbing.

Also they have toe beans because I said so.

Next, a minor correction about the giant spiders:

They are NOT a nocturnal species, as the rain makes this impossible. Instead, the shade provided by the Greatwood trees gives them just enough darkness for their camouflage to be effective.

And lastly, the main part of this ask. It's the critter that started this all, back before the forest even existed: the giant bats!

Inspired by irl Flying Foxes– look them up, they're cool– this gigantic species of fruit bat is the largest denizen of the forest. For comparison, they're slightly larger than a good-sized king vulture, but their wings are much bigger since they don't use jets to fly. A daddy long legs would probably be too small to eat an uninjured bat, and even an injured one would take a significant amount of strength and time to consume.

They're frugivores, meaning that their diet mainly consists of fruit, despite technically being an omnivore.

The biggest staple of their diet is the large fruit that grows from high-up branches of the Greatwoods.

They're actually in a symbiotic relationship with the Greatwoods: the bats spread the Greatwood's seeds by eating the fruit, and the Greatwood provides them with a steady supply of fruit and a safe hollow to shelter in from the rain.

While their large shadows tend to evoke the fear of vultures, they actually have a gentle, skittish disposition more like what you'd expect to see from a Rabbit Deer. Slugcats like the Aviator have even discovered that they can offer the bats a Greatwood fruit in exchange for safe travel through parts of the forest.

And that's it for the custom creatures that can be found in the forest! Next ask will be a big one, with the subject being the Greatwoods themselves. After that? I might finally be ready to draft an overview of the forest as a whole.
