“Edge of Spider-Verse” Returns in May 2023

Marvel Comics has announced the return of Edge of Spider-Verse, which will feature both new and favorite Spider-Heroes.

Some tales in 2023′s Edge of Spider-Verse include a story from Karla Pacheco and Pere Pérez in which Spider-Rex faces off against Venomsaurus, a story from Zander Cannon that asks “Who is the Spider-Killer,” a story from David Hein and Luciano Vecchio featuring Spinstress “as she sings her way into the biggest fight of her life,” and more.

Edge of Spider-Verse #1 (of 4), featuring a cover by Patrick Brown, goes on sale on May 3, 2023.

Solar Opposites in Mighty Solars Issue #39: “Danger in Blood” Ch. 3

The scene changes to later that night, where Kano has taken command of the ship and Qourra is sleeping on an edge. Kano is looking through a telescope.

Kano: There! [Qourra looks up.] See those sea raven flags? [Tosses the telescope to Qourra.] It's the Raiders.

Qourra: [Determined.] Let's do this.

Meanwhile, Cherie made it home from her job at Benihana and is smiling at Pezlie, who is playing with her baby toys while Nova is watching over Pezlie and smiling. Suddenly, they see the ship.

Cherie: What the fuck?

Nova: What is it Cherie?

Cherie: I-I think I saw a wooden ship flying by.

Back with Kano and Qourra, the ship submerges underwater, Qourra waterbending an air bubble around his head so they can breathe. The camera cuts to a shot of a group of security guards having a conversation on the deck of the ship.

Security Guard: So there I was, and I was like, ‘You know -‘

He yells as a large water whip emerges from the surface and coils around his body, dragging him off the ship. The other guards run to the source of the incident in shock. The wooden ship surfaces and Qourra waterbends two huge waves at the ship. The others turn around to see the torrent of water flood the ship, washing them overboard. The ship lands on the deck. One security guard, who has managed to stay aboard the ship, attacks Qourra, who pushes him away with a gush of water. She and Kano make their way through the corridors of the ship, Qourra’s arms covered in water for defense. One guard bursts from his cabin, a sword in hand only to be attacked and locked back inside by Kano. Qourra follows him to a large doorway, where they abruptly halt.

Kano: This is it, Qourra. Are you ready to face him?

Qourra pulls down her face mask and lets out a cry as she sends a powerful stream of water toward the door. The scene changes to the inside of the room, the door having been knocked down by the impact of the water. Montez sees what happens and attempts to fight with Kano, who only deflects Montez, with his firebending attacks.

Montez: What the fuck?! Who are you?! What are you doing here?!

Kano: You don't remember her? You will soon, trust me.

Montez: What?! Who?!

Montez prepares to strike once more, however, his hand fails to move and begins trembling. Cherie, Nova and Pezlie arrives as they gasp.

Cherie: Honey?!

Montez: What's ... [He attempts to control his arm which bends about uncontrollably.] happening to me?

The camera focuses on Qourra using bloodbending on him. With swift motions, she forces him to the ground. Kano looks on at her, momentarily stunned before turning his attention back to Montez.

Cherie: MONTEZ!

Nova holds Pezlie while Pezlie starts crying. Later, Principal Cooke, Kevin and his family, Miss Frankie, Trevor, Jamie, Darcy, Trevor, Ms. Perez and Mia arrived with Randall as they gasp.

Kano: Think back. Think back to your last raid on the water tribe.

Montez: What the fuck are you talking about?! I never even heard about that tribe!

Kano: [Bending down closer to the commander.] Don't lie! You look her in the eye and you tell me you don't remember what you did.

Ms. Perez: Qourra?!

Miss Frankie: What the fuck is she doing to that man?!

Qourra bloodbends Montez, fixing him into a position where the Montez looks right into her eyes. She gives him a cold, hard stare. The camera closes up on Montez’s eyes before cutting to where Qourra’s face has changed from hate to shock.

Qourra: It's not him. [She frees him from her grip.] He's not the man.

Montez breathes in and out while the humans rush over there. Kano is shocked.

Kano: What? What do you mean he's not? He's has the chief badge! He has to be the guy!

Qourra remains silent and begins walking away. Kano grabs Montez and pins him to the wall.

Kano: If you're not the man we're looking for, who is?

Qourra sighs.

Montez: It’s Zander. He retired four years ago! Why are you looking for him?

Then, an arrow was shot as it cause Kano to drop Montez as he breathes in and out. Qourra and Kano look and gasp. It was shot by Cherie with a crossbow.

Cherie: STAY AWAY FROM MY BOYFRIEND!

Qourra: Who-who are you?!

Ms. Perez: offscreen QOURRA! STOP!

Qourra gasps and turns around. She then sees the humans, which shocks Montez, Nova, Cherie and Pezlie

Cherie: What the fuck? Who are you people?!

Ms. Perez: I’m Ms. Perez!

Nova: Ms. Perez? Like a teacher or something?

Mia: Guys! You’re here?

Ms. Perez: You know those people?

Randall comes in holding a giant bar but trips

Randall: I’m okay. looks at Montez, Nova, Cherie and Pezlie Who are these guys?

Mia: These are my friends. Wallians, meet the human citizens of Earth-4. Earth-4 humans, meet Montez, Cherie, her baby Pezlie and Nova.

Nova: Mia, is this the Ms. Perez you were talking about lately and are these her friends.

Mia: Yes. These are my coworkers, Principal Cooke and Miss Frankie and my neighbors Kevin and his family, Randall, Jamie and his wife Darcy and Trevor.

Montez: Uh, nice to meet you? But what are you all doing here?

Ms. Perez: points to Qourra and Kano Trying to stop them!

Cherie: What?! What’s going on?

Qourra: We're going to find the man who took my mother from me.

Cherie: Your mother?

Principal Cooke: No you are not! We’re here to stop Qourra! Killing is wrong!

Montez, Cherie and Nova: WHAT?!

Nova: You’re gonna kill that guy?!

Montez: That’s wrong!

Cherie: Have you lost your fucking mind?

Kano: She told me the story of what happened. I know who did it and I know how to find him.

Cherie: Um ... and what exactly do you think this will accomplish?

Qourra: [Shakes her head in dismay.] Ugh, I knew you wouldn't understand. [Begins to walk away.]

Kano smiles evily.

Cherie: Wait! Stop! I do understand. You're feeling unbelievable pain and rage. How do think I felt about Sister Sisto when she stole Pezlie? How do you think I felt about the corruption in the Wall when I found out what happened to my people?

Kano: She needs this, Cherry. This is about getting closure and justice.

Cherie: The name.. is Cherie.

Nova: I don't think so, Qourra. I think it's about getting revenge.

The others murmured and agree.

Qourra: [Angrily.] Fine, maybe it is! Maybe that's what I need! Maybe that's what he deserves!

The humans gasp.

Kevin: Qourra… you sound like the villains the Mighty Solars fought and defeat!

Qourra: It's not the same! The bad guys attacked the innocent. This man, he's a monster.

Miss Frankie: Qourra, your mother was our friend, but I think the three Wallians might be right.

Qourra: Then you didn't love her the way I did!

Cherie sighs.

Cherie: Qourra, listen. I know you want vengeance I understand. But please, think about what-

Qourra: Shut the fuck up! Cherie gasp I am doing what is right.

Miss Frankie: Starburst used to say that revenge is like venomous nake. While you watch your enemy go down, you're being poisoned yourself.

Kano: That's cute, but this isn't high school. It's the real world.

Qourra: Now that I know he's out there ... now that I know we can find him, I feel like I have no choice.

The humans gasp in horror as they shook. Nova walks up to Qourra.

Nova: Qourra, you do have a choice: forgiveness.

Kano slaps Nova as she yelps.

Kano: That's the same as doing nothing!

Nova: No, it's not. It's easy to do nothing, but it's hard to forgive.

Qourra: It's not just hard, it's impossible. Don’t try to stop me!

Ms. Perez grabs Qourra by the hand as she gasps.

Ms. Perez: Qourra, please don’t this! Kano is just using you! He may not be who he seems to be!

Randall: Yeah! We know you’re better than this!

Darcy: You’re becoming a villain just like the ones the Mighty Solars fought before! Think about what you’re doing!

Qourra finally snaps and bloodbend the humans as they lower to the ground in pain.

Kevin: What’s happening to us?!

Miss Frankie: Aaagh! She’s bloodbending!

Qourra: Thanks for understanding me for nothing guys! And if you dare tell the Mighty Solars about what we did, Kano and I will wipe them out!

Nova: Qourra! Kano! gasp as she struggles to get up No! Stop!

Kano: Sorry but, we made our choice and if the Mighty Solars come after us, I’ll have no choice but to kill Quasarblast.

Nova: You are no match for Quasarblast!

Principal Cooke: Huh?

Randall: What the?!

Miss Frankie: You guys already know them?

Randall: Oh my God! Plot twist!

Kano: No Nova, you are no match for Qausarblast!

The humans struggles to get up as Qourra and Kano leaves.

Kano: Soon enough, our task will be complete and then, your pathetic heroes will be history!

Jamie: What fucking task?

Cherie: struggles to get up You won’t get away with this you fuckers!

Kano: Oh, it’s too late! We already have!

Kano and Qourra leaves as the humans struggles to break free from being restrained. Then, a familiar offscreen woman sees the, and gasp. She then records a video and sends it to surprisingly AISHA. Later, AISHA sees a video and gasp.

AISHA: Oh my God! I gotta warn Korvo!
