Kamaboko Squad w/ a Same Personality Reader

Synopsis: Headcanons for the main trio - Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke - with a reader who acts like them

A/N: So while Tumblr won’t notify people about my stuff, I’ll be doing scenarios I guess??? Also, I wanted to try my hand at branching out to other characters so of course, I’ll be starting with some light Kamaboko stuff

But in all seriousness, you guys are basically the parents of the Demon Slayer Corps (second only to the Ubayishiki couple lol)

You’d parent the Pillars, too, if they’d sit still long enough 

The first time you guys meet you’re helping out in the Butterfly Estate and he came in battered really badly (maybe after the Rui incident)

You try to parent him immediately, of course

At first, something was bothering him a bit, but he couldn’t put his finger on it. Was it that you were really pretty? He didn’t know

And then he realized you were really nice. Like not even Shinobu and Aoi were that sweet. 

And he’s actually caught off-guard because??? No??? Stop that??? That’s his job??? But also please continue??? 

(he hasn’t had his parents in a couple of years and he got whiplashed to feel motherly love again but shhh we ain’t getting into that) 

What made him completely drawn to you was how you liked Nezuko right off the bat

No judgment whatsoever

Just immediately mama bird mode

“Oh, she’s a demon?”

* Tanjiro is panicking because what if you overreact *

“Y-yeah, but-”

“You poor thing. You’ve gone through a lot, huh? Don’t worry, we’ll protect you, okay? But I guess you don’t need us when you have a really dependable brother protecting you already.”

* cue Tanjiro’s heart going doki-doki *

“Mmph!” Nezuko has accepted you as a big sister

“T-Thanks! But I think she’s been protecting me more. She’s really strong, after all.” 

“Nonsense! I mean I bet she’s really strong, but you should give yourself more credit, Tanjiro-kun. You even stood against the Pillars for her.”

Well that just confirmed that you’re the best person in Tanjiro’s book (second only to Nezuko, of course)

You’re like the pair who constantly hype up your friends

HEAD PATS ABOUND (YOU GET A HEADPAT. EVERYONE GETS A HEADPAT)

Oh but you’re not all smiles, though

If Tanjiro beats people up or headbutts them into submission, your words are like a whip

No Mercy Mode™ 

You just straight dig into someone, especially if they’re being very stubborn or rude

The Kamaboko Squad have been on the receiving end of your lectures once

And they all unanimously agree: never again 

You and Tanjiro sort of become one another’s support systems

You can only be the support system of so many others before you start needing your own

It was nice to be dotted on every once in a while

Also, no one knows, but when you’re put into a mission together, you two are a little more childish

Of course, you’re still a bit parent-ish then because Nezuko is with you guys

But at least you can forget life’s horrors for a little bit and be the kids you never got to be

⚡Zenitsu

First of all, y’all are a mess

Like everyone wonders how you’re still alive

They also think you shouldn’t be put in the same mission

Because, you know, y’all are (cowards) scaredy-cats

But Oyakata-sama figured out it’s best to let you guys go together

You were still Demon Slayers after all

It was difficult. Like really difficult. Not the mission - just you two

Y’all didn’t want to go

“H-he-hey, how about we take a break to-tonight?”

“Ha..haha… y-yeah you’re right. They’ll be fine for one more night, r-r-right?”

Of course, you guys still go (because you felt bad)

“I-I’ll go if you do. D-deal?”

“O-okay! Ju-Just don’t leave me, got it?”

You both are shaking like crazy

You have to take turns pushing one another to get moving

When Zenitsu (faints) falls asleep and he starts fighting really amazing, you’re stupefied

Bro was holding out on you wtf?!

You’re still shaking like a leaf but if Zenitsu was going to fight then so were you

Zenitsu later wakes up to you crying, your sword in hand, and the demon gone

He, of course, assumes it’s you who defeated the demon

“(F/N)-CHAN I’M SO GLAD YOU’RE WITH ME THANK YOU-”

“But Zenitsu-kun, you-”

“-I LOVE YOU PLEASE DON’T EVER oof”

You basically tackle him to get him to shut up

Y’all are a crying mess

He doesn’t believe it when you try to tell him that he defeated the demon, so you let it go (for now)

You end up being close friends since you’re always on the same wavelength

You’re basically the same person after all

God help Tanjiro when he’s put in a mission with you two

He basically has to babysit two whiny children

God help you and Zenitsu if you’re alone with Inosuke

He brings Zenitsu along as a punching bag and you go with them because Zenitsu literally cries at your feet to have moral support

One time, Inosuke used you both as bait

But he got mad when Zenitsu ended up taking the demon down

Now he just leaves you two if you keep whining and crying

All that aside, you guys get each other

So you talk about your insecurities without fear of being judged

Feeling like you’re not enough

Feeling like you’re the worst of the worst of the Demons Slayers

“But I don’t want to be a burden to anyone anymore.”

“R-Right? I want to help people. S-so, uh, let’s promise to be better!”

“You’re right, (F/N)-chan! We’ll both be better!”

You guys keep saying that, but you still try to skip the next mission

Y’all are loud as all hell

People straight up leave the room when the two of you enter

You legit found each other because you were both yelling

“How DARE someone be louder than me?”

And it all just went downhill from there 

You guys are always trying to out-compete one another

Stealth missions are almost impossible with how loud the two of you are

“Oi, (Wrong Version of Your Name)! Bet you can’t find the demon before I do!”

You say his name wrong, too, just to piss him off

“Shut up, Imotsute! I bet I can make them cry before I kill them.”

“What?! No, you can’t. I bet I’ll-”

You still get the job done, of course

But no one really wants to go with you two

Not when you’re bickering the whole way

Also, you’re pretty reckless and almost no one was down to look after two idiots

Of course, Tanjiro and Zenitsu can stand you enough to go on missions

Zenitsu doesn’t really have a choice because Tanjjiro is coming along

Also y’all drag him to your misadventures against his will to be a proper “judge” to your competitions

Tanjiro comes along to make sure y’all don’t die

You’re oblivious af, too

Especially when it comes to affection

You constantly fight over praise from Tanjiro

Tanjiro: “That was amazing! Good job!” 

“Hear that? He said I was amazing!”

“The hell that was meant for you. He said that for me!”

But once y’all understand appreciation and compliments

You guys are trading those with one another, mostly just to try it out

But also because Tanjiro:

“Have you guys tried to have a competition on who can compliment the other better?” 

“Bet I’ll win! Hey, Bakasuke, you, uh, fight good.”

“HAHA! You admitted I’m good!”

“I’m still BETTER though!” 

Pretty soon you’re complementing each other in the battlefield

Which hella confused people who trained with you

“Hell yeah! Fuck ‘em up, (F/N)!”

“Thanks, Inosuke! You better not fall behind. Wreck ‘em good, too!”

“You know I will!”

You went from trash-talking each other to trashing on everyone else (mostly demons)

You still have competitions of course. No one backs out of those

You guys occasionally learn about life together, too

“Inosuke, look! What the hell is that? It’s gigantic!”

“Looks like a monster to me. Come on - let’s beat it up. Bet we can take it down no matter how big it is!”

A little self-indulging one-shot. It’s a Zenitsu x Reader in the third person. My first time posting any writing, so yeah... here goes nothing. Started writing this yesterday at 3 am. Day at work was hard due to sleepiness but eh.. worth it. 

Hope i didn’t mess up too much ~  To whoever read this, thank you, hope you enjoy.

As she watched from the porch the rain pouring outside, (Name) thought she and the boys were lucky not to have been given any mission today. This way, she could sit comfortably inside, with a warm cup of tea, and most importantly, with Zenitsu at her side. The blond looked uneasy as the storm kept raging outside and in a whiff of affection, (Name) dragged herself closer to him, snuggling into the boy's arms until her ear was laying against his chest. The affectionate gesture was just as much a proof of love and trust as it was a way to comfort the boy. He tensed for a second as he felt her so close to him and she vaguely wondered if he was still nervous because of how new their relationship was or if he simply wouldn't ever get used to it. For the moment anyway, she could hear his heath beating rapidly in his chest and a question came to her mind.

"I wonder how it feels..." Her voice rose so suddenly in the silent room it startled him.

"WHAAA? What ? What is it ?! Dont scare me like that !! (Name) you're so cruel! Why would you do this ?! Give me a warning first!" Zenitsu all but screamed as his arms went flailing around before settling around her body for a comfort hug, tears already gathering at the corner of his eyes.

(Name) laughed lightly at his reaction, patting his back as an apology, leaning into his embrace. She didn't mean to scare him but he was so cute when he was scared she didn't even feel guilty. Instead she decided to continue with her initial trail of though.

"I was just wondering, how is it for you, with your hearing ?"

She tilted her head just enough to look at him, meeting his perplexed soft brown eyes and she understood that she needed to explain where that question came from. She laid her head on his torso once again as she kept talking.

"For me, just laying like that and hearing your heartbeat is pretty calming. But I’m so close to you and its you and we're alone. You know ? So, how is it for you, hearing everyone all the time ?"

Zenitsu did not answer immediately and for a moment (Name) thought he never would. But finally, he spoke up:

"Honestly ? It's scary. Not just because of people's heartbeat or blood flow... even though some are pretty disturbing. But the scariest things are people's words. The things I hear sometimes... they can hurt more than a blade or a demon's fangs.” He looked sad as he spoke and (Name) started regretting letting her curiosity get the best of her. Noticing her apologetic look, Zenitsu smiled brightly and continued. “But it's fine! I used to think it was some sort of curse you know, but now i'm pretty happy with this gift! Ever since I met you and the guys, I have been able to hear such sweet sounds, so soft and calming, it still amaze me sometime. Except for that weirdo with his pig head... nothing in him sounds normal and i’m not even surprised."

For  that remark and because of Zenitsu's face, (Name) finally relaxed once more, letting escape another sweet laugh. It was definitely the sweetest sound Zenitsu ever heard. Caught in the tenderness of the moment, he decided to let her know how he felt.

"You said that listening to my heartbeat makes you feel calm. First of all, thank you for that. But just so you know, that’s how I feel everyday. As long as you’re by my side, simply listening to you makes me feel so much better. I can't thank you enough for being in my life." He concluded with a blush.

(Name) felt like she was melting. She rose her head and quickly kissed the boy's lips before hiding her reddening face in his shirt. This act of shyness prevented her from seeing how flustered Zenitsu was, but she definitely could hear his heart going crazy.

As for Zenitsu, he tried his best to relax, resting a hand on top of her head, the other on her back, and as he closed his eyes, he drowned out the sound of the rain and thunder to focus on a much more important melody: (Name)’s heart.

He's never known the sweet soft caress of a girl

he basically stormed into the room and flopped onto the floor next to you

he was whining and moaning about training and how hard it is for him

how he wishes to die because its FAR too much

he wiggles his way over until his head is in your lap

without thinking your hands are in his blonde hair

you're petting him while his dramatic ranting slows down, slurs even

His anger melts away so fast when you touch him, it calms him and re-grounds him.

He's still muttering about his woes, getting quieter and quieter

down to a whisper, then it stops

your hands feel so soft and before he can register anything else he's asleep.

Tanjiro:

It was the first time in a while that you woke up before him

he was always awake first for training, but this time he was exhausted from a particularly strenuous mission

He was sleeping peacefully, his lips partly open and occasionally he snored

His hair was so messy, it was getting long lately

long enough that he put it in a ponytail the other day

you couldn't help but touch his soft hair

running your hands through it gently and curling locks around your finger so often

Of course this wakes him up

but that doesn't stop you

He loves the sweet way you whisper for him to stay in bed with you a little longer

the petting is what really keeps him there

it pulls him back into sleep, not that he was really fighting it

not this time anyway

Aaaaaand inosuke:

He's never been touched like this, all he's known is fighting

well, the medics treating his wounds would be the gentlest he's been touched

He was complaining of a headache any type of medicine you offered was a hard NO

Eventually with some gentle prodding you got him to sit on the floor in front of you

you were in a chair of course

You started by running your hands through his hair, right against his scalp and down his neck

He jolted and before he could run you grabbed him by the shoulders and ordered him to sit still

He was loud and belligerent, demanding what you were doing

You explained you could get rid of the headache, but he had to trust you and be patient

it took some more arguing before he settled

You petted at his hair, it was surprisingly soft, given how feral he was

It was odd but he took a liking to it. So much so that he was damn near purring, his eyes half lidded as he relaxed against you

'See,' you chimed in, 'Didn't this help?'

💛 Your Laughter 💛

Every time when someone sees you two, there's always a blush on your faces and laughing together in content. Tanjirou found it adorable whenever he passes by them, there's always a scent of love between the two. There's just one problem though: you two don't know that you are in love with each other.

Zenitsu being Zenitsu, he instantly felt attracted to you when he first met you at the Butterfly Estate. You were just minding your own business and then your torso suddenly wrapped by two arms, hearing the words, "Please marry me! I don't have much to live for, I'm going to die soon and-!" The person who spoke got pulled away from you. It was a boy with burgundy hair and a scar on his forehead that stopped the whining boy, bowing and apologizing to you for his actions

Learning further to know who they are, they're demon slayers just like you. Tanjirou was a kind and helpful guy who is trying to cure his demon-turned sister and Zenitsu was the one who asked you to marry him, always complaining about not wanting to train. You also met Inosuke sometime later when he tried to punch Zenitsu from behind

From that day forward, you find yourself becoming close to the golden-haired boy, he wasn't as bad as you thought he would be. He was a nice person to have a casual conversation with, you were able to vent your stress from missions and training, and he cheers you up a lot in the end. Not to mention when he hugs you out of frustration, fear, or happiness, it made your heart beat faster, he was suddenly so adorable that you wanted to make him happy and hug him back. The more you spend time with him, the more your feelings grew, but you always shrugged it off since you thought that he saw you as a friend.

Zenitsu on the other hand, he wasn't aware that his temporary attraction to you developed into falling in love with you completely. Sure there were times that he thought about Nezuko, but most of the time, he only thinks of you. During training, missions, eating, and even in his dreams. You were one of the first people who understood his pain and fear, his lack of motivation and encouragement. He loved to hear the sound of your laughter, it always lifted the weight off his shoulders and make him feel happy as you were too. He would've confessed his love for you right then and there, but deep down he thinks that you'll never see yourself being with such a coward like him.

You were currently training with the pillar of love as she tested your flexibility once more, stretching your legs open with hers. "Oh, you've improved your flexibility (y/n)!" She congratulated to you, grinning. You let out a laughter that hinted with pain due to you going over your limits with your training, "Thanks… Mitsuri-san… I'm getting close!" You breathed out each word as you fought back the tears. Mitsuri noticed the pained expression across your face and decided to stop stretching your legs, causing you to let out a cry of relief.

 "Well, let's get something to eat, alright? You deserve it after almost stretching your legs completely!" She beamed happily as she patted your shoulder, to which you nodded with a smile, "Hai, let's do it!"

In the next moments, you two are now sitting down with a rather large quantity of food on the table that would feed a family of 5, remembering that the love pillar has a big appetite. "I'm really surprised about your improvements (y/n)-san, you've only been here for 4 days." She said as she chowed down on her food. "Thank you, Zeni-kun has been cheering me on since, just like with the other training I had." You giggled, taking a bite on her westernized food. "Zeni-kun? You mean the boy with the blonde hair?" She asked. You nodded with a blush on your face, "Yeah, he's been encouraging me that I wanted to do my best! He's just the sweetest and I want to do the same as well."

Mitsuri grinned at you, "My, aren't you two a cute couple~" You almost choked on your food, "C-Couple? No way, he'd never see me as his girlfriend/boyfriend!" You stuttered. "Tell me, do you have nicknames for each other? Do you two hang out more than anyone? And hug a lot?" She asked, her grin getting bigger and her eyes sparkling. "W-Well yeah! I mean, those are all friendly things that friends do! Right?!" You desperately reasoned, your blush getting bigger by the moment. "Maybe, but you guys act like a couple. Not to mention, you're blushing right now~" she teased as you buried your face in your hands, embarrassed that know that those were all true.

"Why don't you tell him about your feelings? I'm sure he feels the same." She suggested, patting you on the head. You slowly peeked out from your hands and pouted. "But… what if he doesn't? What if he doesn't want to be friends with me anymore? Then I won't get to be with him at least…" you replied sadly. 

'My, this is saddening to see! A person who can't confess their feelings to their crush!' Mitsuri thought, 'I must make a plan, and I know just the person to help me!'

"AAAGH! THIS IS HELL!" Zenitsu cried out in anger, all beat up from the hellish that he and Tanjirou had. "I WANNA SEE (Y/N)-CHAN AGAIN!" Tanjirou looked at the crying boy, "I'm sure you'll see them, I heard that you've been helping them out." He said. Zenitsu huffed, "Well of course! I care about them and I want them to succeed." He blushed at the image of you, "They're just so caring about me and they even cheer me up after this hell of a training! And their laugh, it's so angelic that I feel better instantly!" 

The burgundy haired boy smiled, "I know, it's so nice to see that someone loves you as much as you love them." Zenitsu stopped in his tracks, "But Tanjirou! They don't love me, they only see me as their friend! There's no way that I'm worthy of being their lover…" he groaned and sighed. Tanjirou placed a hand on his shoulder, "Zenitsu, I'm sure that they love you back. Whenever I see you two together, I can smell the scent of love between you two, it's amazing!" He cheered.

The blonde just sighed, "I know you're just cheering me up but there's just no way… not especially from them." He turned his back from him, "I'll see you tomorrow at training, if I do survive." And with that, he left. Tanjirou frowned, "Poor Zenitsu… if only you knew."

"Tanjirou-saaan!" He heard a female voice called out to him. He turned to the source of the voice, seeing Mitsuri ruining towards him. "Ah, Mitsuri-san!" He waved happily. The girl stopped in front of him, gasping, "You won't believe it, (y/n) and Zenitsu are in love! And they don't even know it!" She exclaimed, shaking her hands up and down. "I know, it's really strange, I thought that it was obvious." He said. Mitsuri grabbed his shoulders, "Well it's time for me, the love pillar, to bring them together, with your help!" She beamed with a determined look on her eyes. Tanjirou blinked, "E-Eh? What are we going to do Mitsuri-san?"

The girl grinned, "Operation: Lunch Date!"

"Hey, (y/n)-san! Let's have lunch together!" Mitsuri said, patting the spot next to her on the ground. She had food ready again on the table in front of her, except, you were outside instead of her dojo. "Huh? Aren't we going to train?" You asked, tilting your head in confusion. She just smiled, "Yeah, but I thought we'll make this day special, and I brought someone over~" she said with mischief in her tone. "What-"

"Mitsuri-san! We're here." A voice called out, revealing two familiar faces. "Tanjirou, Zenitsu!" Your face lit up in happiness to the appearance of your friends, more so on your crush. "(Y-Y/n)-chan!" Zenitsu cried out happily, charging towards you and caught you in a bear hug. You yelped from the sudden affection, but giggled, "Zeni-kun, it's nice to see you again." You said, petting his hair. You heard a giggle from Mitsuri and as you turn to her, her smile grew, and more mischievous than before. Your eyes widen and a blush rose to your face.

'Oh damn you Mitsuri!'

The 4 of you started to eat lunch together, Mitsuri and Tanjirou on one side, you and Zenitsu on the other. You felt so awkward after knowing what was Mitsuri's intention, but at the same time, you're happy that Zenitsu is with you again. Mitsuri was just grinning happily while eating, and Tanjirou was just giving you an awkward smile that you can read it as "I'm-sorry-I-was-forced". 

"Oh, this food is really good Mitsuri-san!" Zenitsu exclaimed, taking a huge bite from his bowl. The pink haired giggled, "Thank you, this is the same lunch that (y/n) and I had yesterday." She replied. "And so I thought that I could invite her friends over! Right Tanjirou?" She asked, nudging him with her elbow. "O-oh, that's right! She told me about having lunch together with you and (y/n)." He replied.

'Yeah, this is definitely intentional!' You internally screamed as you started to sweat. "I see, well it's nice that we're having lunch together, as friends, right?" You asked with uneasiness, hoping that you won't be embarrassed in front of Zenitsu. "You could say that, buuut." Mitsuri said. The blonde haired boy tilted his head, "But what?" He asked.

"It could be also be a lunch date, for a couple like you two." She giggled, giving a wink to both you and Zenitsu. A moment of silence came as both you and Zenitsu blushed a very dark red before your senses came back.

"Eh?! C-Couple!? B-But we're not dating!" Zenitsu rambled on. 

"T-That's right! W-we're just good friends! Nothing more!" You stuttered, embarrassment has started to wash on your face, "Besides-"

You both then stared at each other after that confession you two made.

"Wait what?" You two repeated after each other again.

Mitsuri smiled happily, "Do you see now? You guys are made for each other, and you even confessed at the same time! How cute!" She squealed in excitement. Tanjirou on the other hand, could smell the embarrassment from the two that he honestly felt kinda bad. But he knew that things will go right, after all, you now know that you and Zenitsu love each other.

"(Y-y/n), you love me?" Zenitsu asked, sounding hopeful when he heard the rapid thumping from your heart. You looked down and held your hands close to your chest, "Yeah… it's just that you're the sweetest person ever, you make me happy and well…" she giggled nervously, making the blonde haired melt at the sound, "I love you Zenitsu."

Two hands suddenly grabbed your waist and lifted you in the air, "Waaah, (y/n)-chan loves me! I'm so happy!" You looked down to see Zenitsu, tears of happiness formed in his eyes, "I love you so much (y/n)-chan!" Your heart nearly jumped out of your body, but you laughed whole-heartedly. 

"I love you too Zenitsu." The boy couldn't be any happier, to hear his love of life say those words as they laugh happily. He brought you down, held your face closer to his with one hand and kissed your lips. You were surprised by this, but kissed him back and wrapped your arms around him. After all, you can't complain about kissing your crush, who is now your boyfriend.

"Ah Tanjirou, we did it! Our mission is a success!" Mitsuri cheered and jumped happily.

"The only thing I did was to bring Zenitsu here though." He sweat-dropped. Tanjirou looked over the two who were still laughing in content and smiled, the scent of love was stronger than ever "But I'm happy for them."
