OCxCanon Week, Day 1: Historical

Michael "III" Arclight (canon) X Hoshiko Kazama (OC)

This prompt is just too good to pass it on.

In Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal, some character have a canon past life before reincarnating into their current selves. That's not really the case for the Arclights, but it would interesting for them to have one (they're tied to the Barians -the characters with canon past lives- so it wouldn't be too far-fetched). And that's what made me work with this prompt!

My timeframe of choice for historical costumes is the Renaissance (1470-90s especially), mostly because its family dramas fits both Michael and Hoshiko's stories and it would be nice to see them both move into such rich and interesting centuries for my country. It also gave me plenty of art references to work with.

I loved the idea of couple portraits (think of the Duke and Duchess of Urbino diptych), hence the similar background and poses. For the clothes and hairdo, I took inspiration from Florence fashion for Michael and Venice fashion for Hoshiko, tweaking them to suit my needs.

I also used a different painting style for this pieces: I worked without lineart and with big blotches of colors, which was hard, but also very fun!

I hope you enjoy these portraits! Now I just have to work on a possible story to accompany them... I already have a couple names at the ready...

Kite and Baby Galaxy-Eyes

Kite was running out of shoes.

Kite let out an annoyed scoff as he looked down at his shoes. “Again, really?! Galaxy-Eyes!!”

A little Galaxy-Eyes peaked from behind the wall, his large eyes staring at Kite. He looked at Kite like a little angel. Like he could do no wrong.

Kite knew it was all one big lie.

“Stop chewing my shoes!!” Kite yelled, holding up his ruined shoes. He was supposed to be the Galaxy-Eyes Master. But this baby Galaxy-Eyes did not wish to listen and his shoes paid the price.

The baby Galaxy-Eyes let out a sad noise, giving a big show of how sad he was. Kite didn’t really care, looking at his shredded-up shoes.

“Kite,” A soft female voice scolded him. “He’s just a baby”

She was like an angel. Scooping the baby Galaxy-Eyes into her arms. She gave the baby lots of love, cooing at him to make him laugh. The Galaxy-Eyes let out what could be described as laughter, wiggling his little baby legs. She gave him a smile that could almost soothe him. Almost.

“Seki,” Kite said sternly. “He ripped up my shoes!”

“He is just a baby, he doesn’t know better!” Seki Risako gave him a look. She cradled the Galaxy-Eyes, as if she was sheltering the baby from Kite’s vengeance.

“He needs to learn to not eat my shoes!!”

Seki pouted her lip. “Well, do you need to shout? I am sure if you ask nicely he won’t eat your shoes. He doesn’t eat my shoes.”

Kite rolled his eyes. “Because he adores you.” Galaxy-Eyes wasn’t the only one, but Kite wouldn’t say it out loud.

“He adores both of us dear,” She kisses his cheek. “I promise.”

A small blush spread across Kite’s face. He looked down at Seki and Galaxy-Eyes, both of them were looking at him with large pleading eyes. He sighed and grumbled.

“You both are lucky you’re so cute.” Seki giggled happily, wrapping her arms around Kite. Baby Galaxy-Eyes happily chirped in agreement.

Stuff about Saki and Apis because they are so lovely 🫶

What's their relationship? Nobody knows, even I don't know :p

it keeps bouncing between "they're both aroace and good friends" and "they are so in love that it physically hurts me" so for the time being, their relationship is completely up for interpretation until I decide XD

Apis admires Saki a massive amount and enjoys being in close proximity to her because he feels safe with her.

Saki is very caring towards Apis and always watches our for him. Also, she has a tendency to kissing his scars when they hurt him to in her words, 'kiss them away' and he always gets very shy when she does this because it's literally someone giving attention to scars and wounds that he hated and didn't expect anyone to care for, so her caring for them just gets him in the heart.

Another thing about the scars! Sometimes she'll draws little patterns around them to try stop Apis from despising them so much, mostly the patterns are simple flowers and stars(cardigan by Taylor Swift fucking ruined me)

Whenever the friend group has a sleepover, they always end up holding hands and Yuki being Yuki, takes pictures and then proceeds to tease them about it in the morning.

They both like playing with each other's hair so they take it in turns to lie in each other's laps whilst the other strokes their hair.

Sometimes, Apis will have PTSD attacks because of what happened to him and more times than not, Saki will calm him down by playing slow music on her guitar

Despite her hair being so short, Saki struggles to maintain it and it usually ends up knotted and messy, so Apis makes an effort to learn how to take care of hair and help her with it

Saki compares Apis to either a baby deer or Bunny because of his curiosity and cluelessness and jokingly bought him a set of bunny ears because according to her, "he's already half way there with how he acts, he just needs the ears" XD

Apis got back at her by getting her a matching pair

She was with Apis when he met Eliphas again and she stood her ground when he tried to take him by standing between them and telling Eliphas to leave Apis alone, this made Apis only admire her more

Saki turns up unannounced at Apis's house and he's just accepted this because he does it as well so it's mutual X3

Edit: another thing I meant to mention is that they've swapped their school ties! So Apis has a bow and Saki has a tie :3

hiiii :333 remember how i talked abt my oc... well... i may or may not ship her with toriiii :333333 they now have an official ship name!!! so. other than kotobasa, THEIR SHIP NAME IS FLUTTERSHIPPING!!!! why? well... tori uses a fairy deck right.. fairies have wings... wings flutter! (kotori means little bird in japanese as well - so it follows that line of thinking!) tsubasa uses a lyrilusc deck, birds have wings, same line of thinking! also tsubasa’s name literally means wing, she has wing motifs everywhere basically as well!!! so the name represents the fluttering wings that represent them!! not only that, i like to think of them as each other’s wings: they make each other happy and when they’re together they can fly to greater heights!!! heheheheeee :3333333

OcXCanon Week, Day 7: Date Night + Casual

It's date time, of better... Date Night!

If there's something to know about me, it's that I love a good nerd×nerd romance. And sure, Michael and Hoshiko are nerds in different fields, but a museum date will surely bring them together!

And so here they are, enjoying a painting exhibit!

The painting they're looking at is *drum rolls* “La belle dame sans merci" by John William Waterhouse, based on the poem of the same title by Keats (and a poem they both hold dear, for reasons 🤭).

I also decided to throw in another prompt in the pot and gave them casual clothes. Hoshiko's fit is referenced from Pinterest and its colors from Tumblr. Michael... technically should be wearing a jacket but ended up a little stiff. Still more casual that what he wears in canon though, so I call it a win.

Will the last day actually be the last? Only time will tell!
