Hi, just found your blog and absolutely love your art! Makes me blow kisses at my screen lol (btw can you tell me what a fictive is? Does it mean you roleplay as Susie on your blog, or just that you kin her?)
AW THANK YOU!!
In SHORT i am not roleplaying! Having kins and being a fictive are two different things in a way i can’t describe atm.. but here- look at our FAQ! i linked to the system part of our FAQ.
I’m NOT roleplaying! i don’t “kin her” i just am me. I have vivid memories from my source and in my head I literally look like.. well me. I even get dysphoria about not having sharp teeth or being in a human body.
But I am also aware that I’m a system member and that I’m not literally susie deltarune yadda yadda yadda im gonna stop before i go into an existential crisis lmao (KIDDING. i just looove disclaimers or something)
Hope you dont mind im just redirecting you to a FAQ. We get asked this question a looot. I can answer questions about myself but having to describe fictives vs kins is a little loaded BAHAHA. searching System Fictive might help. or system introject

I guess you're the right person to ask this, since you've spent so much time thinking about this universe and its mechanics: Is there a canon reason why you can save and load? I know it's implied that only a determined soul (specifically the most determined) can do it, but why is that in the first place? Thanks~
hm. we’re crossing more into speculation and fan-theory here, so take what i say with a grain of salt. that said, i’ll cover what is canon first. it’s not necessarily to have a determined soul, it’s important to distinguish determination from souls. Flowey doesn’t have a soul. ALL humans have determination, of which Flowey got posthumously. It’s implied monsters can gain determination naturally, as Undyne has enough to come back as Undyne the Undying.
Humans and Monsters are different by mass and soul/magic power. Humans have a hard, heavy physical body, monsters are made of dust. It takes the entire underground’s worth of monsters to equal that of a single human soul, this is why their determination is so strong.
now, more to the more speculative side of things. undertale, as in, in universe undertale, is not a video game. it is not a simulated world of pixels, but their real fantasy world. however, in a very meta sense, both flowey and chara view it as a video game. we see through Chara’s eyes, we name them an we follow them. They give us choices but they are in control. We see their memories, represented in sepia up until the pacifist ending’s credits where it turns into color.
My point is, in their world magic is real, and the SAVE system isn’t within code. this is a huge mistake people make, it’s not literally a video game in-universe. flowey pretends his life is a video game to make sense of this situation, he pretends Frisk is Chara, he is delusional. this is an important piece this puzzle. (DR, however, I’d argue IS a simulation, but that’s a topic for another time)
having control of the timeline is what the SAVE power is. it’s determination -”the resolve to change fate.” as mentioned in my other post, magic and souls are directly tied to emotions. You can betray kill monsters in one hit, you can have so much resolve to change things that you bend time itself.
It’s debatable if this power is only discovered because of the underground’s closed system or not. After all, the place is a sealed bubble of magic monsters, we don’t know the full life cycle of magic. Does magic food need to be grown from magic-infused or magic influenced dirt? How is monster food made. Monster food never rots. Just what is it.
Anyway, it’s still debatable if the barrier is what’s causing the SAVE power to run, because it’s clear Flowey got it when there were no humans around, and once Frisk came he lost his power. We can infer this power was around before the barrier because Gerson is very aware of the shop-keeper’s safety mechanic, implying this power was used in the war. On top of that, humans suffered no casualties because monsters couldn’t access a single soul. This could be because monsters are just so weak, or more likely, they had the SAVE power. This isn’t 100% confirmed, but it is hinted strongly? things that make you go 🤔
TLDR; SAVE is just a very strong magic power that comes from humans’ souls, its so strong it bends time/fate. it is not a “game mechanic” in-universe.

I'm sure this is something you have implied in previous questions, but how to you interpret the very last scene of NGE? Does Shinji finally overcome his fears and symbolically shatters the nightmare world he has trapped himself in? Or does he use his power to surround himself with the comforting illusion of a happy ending where he is loved unconditionally and everyone congratulates him?
Shinji overcomes his fears in the series endgame, leading to the famous Omedetou/Congratulations! scene. It is because of his realization of who he can become that the confined and dismal background in his mind drastically shifts into something much wider.
He has no limits in what he can do now.
The idea that everyone loathes him transforms into the idea that everyone loves him. It’s not indicative of egotism or any other delusion, but just that he has a better opinion of himself.
This line of thinking brings him outside of Instrumentality because he accepts the reality that you can change for the better. This gives him the strength to keep going.

bro I don't know how long the news has been out or if you even care anymore but Blue Exorcist is gonna get a third season
So iconic of this anime to keep making people think it's dead and then get renewed every 6 years. I haven't seen s2 and probably won't be watching s3, BUT my friend and I are planning to reread + catch up with the manga soon, and I'm very much looking forward to it!

I think this is gonna be a weird ask, so apologies in advance. Do you ever fear falling out of love with something inanimate, like a book or a film or a song? That, if you watch it, or listen to it one time too often it might get stale and repetitive and you'll never get the feeling back when you first experienced it? Because I've been getting this feeling more and more lately, and it's kinda messing with my ability to just relax and enjoy things.
Yeah that happens to me a lot, but it usually just means I need a break from it, and I’m ready for something new so I’ve learned not to be too broken up about it. I’ll go through obsessive phases, where I’m fixated on a specific media for months or even years, then just as quickly it fades and something else takes it’s place. There’s a whole world of interesting shit out there. Also, it takes a few years but I usually eventually rediscover my love for old passions later on.
phases of interest are normal, but if literally nothing is holding your interest and you find it difficult to really enjoy anything even your normally favourite things that could potentially be a sign of depression, just a heads up Because that is also something I’ve experienced so talk to your doctor or therapist if that’s the case. Being correctly medicated has made my life 1000x better. 👍
