I remember being in secondary school and as a person from a pretty low income household I couldn’t afford to have a spare pair of glasses on hand so when mine broke I had to go to school for several weeks without them.
I couldn’t take proper notes because I couldn’t see the whiteboard and I had to go up to my teachers at the end of class to ask if I could take a picture with my phone and I had to swear to them that no I wasn’t being lazy but I literally could not read it. When I could I asked friends to let me copy their notes instead. There was more than a few people who openly laughed at me when in my math class I was asked to solve the equation on the board and I had to tell the teacher that I couldn’t read it. And the headaches were constant. It was miserable.
I’ve worn glasses since I was about 13. They are the first things I put on in the morning and last thing I remove at night and without them I struggle to do a lot of things.
It may seem trivial to a lot of people who don’t need them but they’re expensive, they break easy, they take time to replace and yes, there’s still an absurd stigma around wearing them that really ought to be addressed.
People on twitter are saying glasses aren’t a disability aid, and like… I get glasses have been pretty normalized, but I’m poor and need my glasses to drive/see in general/stop myself from getting migraines so… if my glasses break, I’m pretty fucked. Not being able to see is a disability for many, actually.

And then there was the day a little black cat showed up while I was out taking pictures.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again but it is absolutely an example of civilizational inadequacy that only deaf people know ASL
“oh we shouldn’t teach children this language, it will only come in handy if they [checks notes] ever have to talk in a situation where it’s noisy or they need to be quiet”

There should honestly be laws against removing headphone jacks from devices that play music. No more proprietary bullshit. I should not be forced to buy either bluetooth or a cheap dongle that feels like it's going to break if I so much as look at it funny in order to listen to music on my own device. I should be able to use WHATEVER headphones I want.

This is mum who is still with us and doing well. Her name is Poppy 💙
I talk about cats often (when I can be arsed to do my own posts) and one of the things I think about is how each one is entirely unique. Not saying that some aren’t totally aloof and avoid us like the plague (also saying that’s not a bad thing at all because that’s how they are sometimes and they are so worth love too) but a week ago one of cats who was affectionately named Wonky because she got an issue with her ear as a kitten and she’d walk with her head tilted to the left and when she ran she would prance like a horse to kinda counterbalance… she died. She was hit by a car and I spent my Saturday morning digging her grave next to the pond because she liked to hang out there.
I was angry. I was livid in fact because someone decided that after hitting our cat with their car (worse still they hit one of our neighbours too)… they drove off.
Our neighbour buried their own then had the kindness to pick out girl up and carry her safely to our driveway.
They told us the next morning and I was there at 9am with a shovel and she was stone cold with blood on her teeth and I was so angry.
We all have suspicions of who did it because she drove like a maniac around that corner, despite the signs we put up, near every day and we heard her go.
And yeah accidents happen but I cannot begin to envision running over someone’s cat (two none the less) and leaving.
Wonky was a sweet little chatterbox with so much to say and every day since I’ve gone outside to put food out and had to remind myself ‘yeah maybe a little less.. we’re down to three now’.
She was young and goofy. She fell off things a lot and was a sweetheart with so much love in her and by gods if I ever met who did that her I’d sock them in the face.

I wish that asking people pronouns was a more normal thing cuz I went to a therapy session and my caseworker then had to text me after I spent half an hour with her to say ‘I hate to sound rude but what is your gender?’ and like… personally that was just like.. oh okay. I’ve been on T since July 2018 but I’m not super masculine and that’s okay with me. I said ‘hey it’s fine and I’m male no problem’ (I’m actually nonbinary but cool with he/him so I decided to keep it simple for her) but it got me thinking that I’d love to exist in a world where you could ask that as easily as someone’s name and it not be a case of them being like ‘oh no I didn’t mean to think you were X’ because that has implications of X or Y being overtly rigid in its definition and like if you look a certain way you must be one or the other.
This is just a ramble but the lady was (even via text I could tell) very uncomfortable about asking and it shouldn’t be like that. As a transmasc I sometimes get called she and other times the postie rocks up with my parcels and is like ‘hey man, I’ve got some parcels for you’ and yeah if the pronouns aren’t right it’s a bit of a bummer but I think normalising asking for pronouns regardless of the immediate assumption would just be neat.
I’d dig if people could just introduce themselves and then say their pronouns too and it be The Thing To Do.
I don’t expect this honestly but it’d be a nice development for trans people

Something really shitty has just been passed by the UK goverment.
A new bill that is stripping out human rights has been passed and we need to fight it before it costs lives. The new Human Rights Bill has made nazi Germans esc changes that will effect you or somone you love.
The most notiable parts being:
-If you are admitted to hospital with a disability or chronic condition a doctor can put a DNR do not ressusatate on you and you can’t appeal it.
-They are stopping woman from being able to move fowards with assault charges
- They are making it impossible for victims of terrorism to get justice. They won’t let people like the victims of the hillsborough disaster hold the people responsible
Please do your own research if you must but we can’t let this happen!
There a petition to sign that’s already half way there so please share it around and tell ppl in the UK what is happening.
