My Experience with HRT (Taking Testosterone)
1 post
The good, the bad, the amazing and the uncomfortable updates on my personal experience with taking testosterone as a FTM trans man. I know that I wish there was more information out there on specific experiences of trans men who take testosterone out there, so I'm taking a step to be the change I want to see in the world.

Introduction and Personal Information - 07/10/2020
Hi there! My name is Nathan, and I am 20 years old. I am a transgender man, and I just started testosterone today. While I looked into testosterone, I came across some first hand experiences here and there, but I’ve realized through interactions with some of my close friends who are also on testosterone that there are a lot of side effects that aren’t commonly talked about. So I’ve decided that I am going to document my entire journey on Tumblr since I know that it is a big platform that reaches a lot of people. That includes things that may be uncomfortable to think about or aren’t commonly discussed among trans men. I will ALWAYS put warnings at the start of a post to let you know if there will be talk of dysphoria, genitalia, or anything else. I will also put the warning right before I talk about the topic, just to ensure you’re aware of whats to come. If there are triggers that I did not consider, let me know.
Onto some more personal things regarding my own experience with testosterone. I only started today.
I am 20 years old
My diet is relatively okay but mainly consists of carbs and protein
I tend to only to cardio about twice a week
I am 5 foot 4 inches and I weight roughly 175 pounds
The dosage that I was started on was 0.25 mL every two weeks of Testosterone Cypionate with a concentration of 200 mg/mL.
Out of preference, I injected it subcutaneously into my stomach with a 28G 1/2″ needle.
Now, I personally have a few things I want to mention before I move onto talking about some specific things in my next post. First things first, please ask any and all questions you may have about testosterone. While I may not be able to answer everything, I can talk to my physician and to some of the more open trans guys that I have formed friendships with. Second, these updates that I post will be specifically what I go through. This could mean that someone else also taking testosterone could experience the same thing, could experience other things that I didn’t, or might not experience what I did at all. And last, keep in mind that this blog will be information on what could potentially happen to someone taking testosterone. This includes people who are nonbinary, trans masculine, or fall elsewhere on the gender spectrum. Do not assume that because I focus and use trans men as an example that they are the only group that could use testosterone to become their true selves.
Anyway, I think I’ve rambled long enough for an “introductory post.” I want to thank anyone who finds this blog for reading, and I hope that it will end up being beneficial to you. I hope it can be informative and possibly even normalize your own experiences if you are taking testosterone.
