I feel like Madam Isley would be a fantastic choice for Biology/Environmental Science teacher. The students don't hate her, but often they laugh about her obsession over plants. Part of her curriculum is a 3 hour documentary on plants and the ecosystem and how cities can be more eco friendly. Everyone calls her "Ms. Ivy" because she has a poison Ivy tattoo use her arm. If asked about it she says it's temporary and made from natural Henna or other plant based dyes. It's really a impulse weekend mess up from college.
Penguin would be the Financial literacy teacher. I don't know much about him, but from what I know this seems to fit well. He is known for keeping favorites and is *the* teacher to not accept late work. Strict seating charts are to be expected. He will not accept any slander. No one knows his real name.
I had a wild dream last night, so here's if Batman Villains were (specifically middle school) teachers.
The only reason I'm making this middle school is cause in my dream, it was my exact middle school for some reason (haven't even been there for years 🤷♂️) but it was really funny. Plus, less stuff I have to worry about like extracurriculars.
Mr. Crane is DEFINITELY a Chemistry teacher. Like, he's teaching these kids that mixing ammonia and bleach makes mustard gas (he lost a student after that lesson). But he's also a complete grouch. No one has ever seen him smile, yet he's everyone's favorite teacher. Like, he notices everything. One of his better students comes in with a black eyes and some bruises? He's not even seeing the kid after class, he's about to knock the shit out of one of his next bell students for putting a hand on them. All his students won't stop digging into his personal life, though. Like, one time, the student were asking if he was single, and he sarcastically siad "ask the math teacher." So the entire school started shipping them together, which really pissed Jonathan off (he honestly couldn't do shit, he set himself up for that). And if one kid's like "a man dating a man is wrong!" Then Jonathan is going off on their ass with all his religious trauma, telling them that homosexuality is NOT a sin and that's just their parents being bigots (it does not help his case when asked if he's gay). Also, at the end of the school year, he stops caring and lets his students do whatever as long as they're quiet. And if they refuse to shut up? He's putting on Bill Nye and making them write about what they're watching. And last day of school? The most physical affection he's seen in his life. Like, all these kids are sad they won't have him again and giving him hugs, and he doesn’t understand why. But you know what? One of them gave him some fancy coffee (cause hes never not drinking it), so maybe it wasn't so bad after all.
Mr. Nygma Sir (Arkham knight reference) is a math teacher. Now, typically I'd say he'd go for Biology because its all about living organisms, but its not about anatomy in specific. He was a forensics scientist after all, he loves teaching about the body and how to use wounds as clues to the cause of death (but he is the host for the forensics team and they have been winner for 8 straight years in a row). But with Math? This man can teach it all. Its about definite numbers (or at least thats in the math he's teaching) so of course hes the best at it. Its simple. Plus, he can hand out those worksheets that the answers make up a riddle and the person who solves it correctly first gets a prize. Also, he picks favorites. He doesn’t like the suck ups because, sure they're smart, but they always want something out of being smart. It pisses him off (he's very hypocritical). But the autistic kid with maybe one friend that finishes they're assignment before he's even done teaching the lesson? Thats his favorite student. He could care less if the other students fail or pass his class. On top of that, he has fought students before over what color each subject is (he kicked out a kid because they said math was green, it's obviously red). He also hosts the puzzle club, where the students literally just do jigsaw puzzles with him, music in the background, and fun conversations emerge. He calls his students quiz kids (Gotham riddler reference). A lot of people don't like him that much as a person, but they definitely respect him as a teacher. Especially with how engaging his class is.
Mr. Dent (He's pretty chill, typically he lets his students call him Mr. Harvey) is the History teacher for sure. He likes that everything in history happened by chance, that things typically have to happen twice, that there are always two sides of the story (the winners and the losers) and he loves the court cases. He will go on for hours about Brown v. Board of Education. Most definitely is the host for the debate club (and encourages bullying the Forensics kids.) He has this weird collection of coins from different places and time periods as well, he's really proud of it. His class is either really engaging, or really boring, and there will never be a sign on which it's gonna be. One day, he'd go into great detail on what exactly caused the great depression. Just the cause. Other days, he will literally say "Stalin is communist." And leave it at that. If asked what a communist even is, he'll just grumble something about looking it up yourself. Mattering on the day, asking about his scar could be the funniest or most horrifying thing. On a bad day? No one talk to him or else he will lash out. But on a good day? He never gives the same story 3 times. Two of his classes will think he got the scar from a freak car accident, while his other bell thinks he got the scar from a childhood mess up with a clumsy Harvey and a campfire. Then, he starts mixing it up. Its confusing. Despite all of that, students typically pass his class cause its easy to get extra credit. He just lets you flip a coin. Heads? Extra credit. Tails? No extra credit. Its a perfect system. Along with that, when presenting projects, be prepared, he does those little wheel spinners so its a fair chance for everyone. And he does a LOT of projects. But with his whole moody personality, the students tend to call him "Mr. Two Face" behind his back. They think he doesnt hear. And he pretends it doesn't hurt a little.
I just wanted to throw these out. Should I do more? If so, who? Like, was this fun??? Cause I thought it was pretty fun to write. I also just wanted to get it out of my drafts lol

REDRAW.

Happy late birthday, Jason Todd. You deserved so much better 😭🙏‼️
I tried to draw scribbles that looked like bugs for the red part at the top, but it looks more like... Just scribbles.
Original after the cut.
Before and after!
And the original, of course.

Done the 29th December of last year!
I used to be scared of dramatic shadows, to call them somehow, which is why there's almost no definition. I'm definitely more bold with shadows now, even if just a little!

I'm not looking for a fight - or a response (not that I can really stop you), just a place to get my rambles out.
So I agree with most of your points, that doesn't mean they are wrong - just that I personally disagree, AI is pretty fucking bad. It steals jobs from hardworking people. It's an excuse for rich corporations to get even richer and then blame the populace for not being able to pay for things.
But I can't help but think back to the beginning of the internet (not that I was alive for it) and all the stories of confusion and terror around it. The way I think of it is you either accept it (because we all know it isn't going away, not when the top 10% has this much power) or you reject it.
Would I prefer people to use AI responsibility and ethically? Absolutely. Do I think that will happen? No.
Will I use AI in my life? Occasionally. Do I believe in stealing other peoples shit? Of course not!
Will I use apps that require AI verification? fuck no.
AI is complicated, and honestly I've been in the 'a whole world reset wouldn't be that bad' train for a while now. But I can't really escape it now, it's fucking everywhere.
Thank you for your time :>
being anti ai is making me feel like in going insane. "you asked for thoughts about your characters backstory and i put it into chat gpt for ideas". studies have proven its making people dumber. "i asked ai to generate this meal plan". its causing water shortages where its data centers are built. "ill generate some pictures for the dnd campaign". its spreading misinformation. "meta, generate an image of this guy doing something stupid". its trained off stolen images, writing, video, audio. "i was talking with my snapchat ai-" theres no way to verify what its doing with the information it collects. "youtube is impletmenting ai based age verification". my work has an entire graphics media department and has still put ai generated motivational posters up everywhere. ai playlists. ai facial verification. google ai microsoft ai meta ai snapchat ai. everyone treats it as a novelty. every treats it as a mandatory part of life. am i the only one who sees it? am i paranoid? am i going insane? jesus fucking christ. if i have to hear one more "well at least-" "but it does-" "but you can-" im about to lose it. i shouldnt have to jump through hoops to avoid the evil machine. have you no principles? no goddamn spine? am i the weird one here?

Does anyone else think that people like the crunchy ASMR (like ice cracking) because it gives the old/primal part of our brain the same input as if we'd taken down a kill?? Like a spear hitting a bone just right and our brain knows we've done good for our tribe.
Can someone smarter than me explain this???

Amen, though I believe using AI for Ideas is okay, as long as you don't copy/paste it into your work.
the term “ai fanfiction/fanart” is such an oxymoron because AI cannot be a fan. it’s not involved in fandom spaces, it has no passion nor sentimental preference, it doesn’t dream about its beloved blorbo, nor can it be horny for their fave. it’s just a button click for fake creators that’ll steal stuff. hence “ai fan-xyz” and ai `art´ do not exist

Reblogging to find this later lol
So You Want To Read Batman Comics But Have No Idea Where To Start
So: you’re new to the DC Comics fandom and are interested in Batman and his family. Maybe you already know a bit about them and are just looking to figure out where to start reading actual comics. Maybe you know nothing. Maybe you know a whole lot about one character but want to start reading more about another one.
Whichever it is, I’m here to help! There’s a wide range of Batman/Batfamily comics (for all ages, moods, and types of people), and I’m happy to meet people where they are and help people dive into comics. On that note, brace yourselves, because this is going to be a long post. Recs start under the cut.
—IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT READING COMICS—
Superhero comics are traditionally written in what’s known as runs; an author gets to have an extended period on an ongoing (or limited) title where they (traditionally) write in 4-8 issue story arcs; think of these arcs as chapters in a potentially never-ending book. These individual issues are colloquially known as floppies. So when I talk about “Tom Taylor’s run” on the Nightwing title, for example, I’m talking about the main author on the Nightwing title from March 2021-September 2024 (Nightwing (2016) #78-118). Every so often, titles end, the principal author on the titles switch up, or they’ll have “guest/interim authors” come in to do single issues or a single story arc.
These story arcs are then collected in hardcovers or ‘trade paperbacks’ (generally referred to as trades, occasionally TPBs); both collect the entire story arc (plus bonus/behind the scenes material, in some cases) in a single paperback/hardback book. Trades are super useful if you want to read an entire story at one time, want to be economical about your comics spending, and/or want to read things in order. Occasionally, if a writer has a particularly long run on a title or a big company event happens, you get published omnibuses that collect an entire event or run (or part of it, if the event is big enough); omnis are very expensive up-front, but ultimately they tend to be good deals and are often curated well. These collections are all generally also released digitally. Frankly, unless you’re into comics collecting, want individual issues for their pretty covers, or are supporting a currently ongoing run, I would default to buying trades/omnibuses where possible. It’s simply cheaper and easier for reading.
List Notes: Each character list is sorted vaguely chronologically according to a combination of IRL publication dates and the character’s personal timeline. Big caveat that these are not all-inclusive reading lists nor are the inclusions inherently indicators of quality; I’m just trying to hit major character highlights. You should also note that many comics contain multiple Batfam members due to the ridiculous number of crossover events and the solid integration of the Batfamily as a whole into each others’ books in the post-90s era. Comic rec tl;drs are given at the end of each character’s list. Most of the links will take you to Amazon/Comixology, but I also talk about various ways to access and read comics at the bottom of this post.
Secondary Note: DC Comics works in three universes: the pre-Crisis universe (everything published from the beginning of DC Comics until the Crisis on Infinite Earths event in 1986), the post-Crisis universe (everything published between 1986 and 2011), and the post-Flashpoint universe (2011-now).
In 2011, DC completely rebooted their universe following the ‘Flashpoint’ event. This new universe (interchangably called the New 52 universe, post-Flashpoint universe, or Prime Earth) drastically changed many characters’ histories, personalities, and relationships with each other (sometimes for the better, most of the time for the worse). The early years of the post-Flashpoint universe are an absolute incoherent mess continuity-wise; DC’s been trying to sort it all out over the past few years with the Rebirth and Infinite Frontier events (with varying degrees of success), and there are definitely some bright bits and pieces, but it is not my favored universe (though I will certainly recommend it where needed or when it’s good).
Now: let’s get started, shall we? Lists below the cut (please click here to view the most updated version of this post on desktop via my blog instead of on mobile/the dashboard, for easy readability and formatting purposes):

Too often I find myself skimming these types of articles, looking for a bold headline or interesting quote. In reality, more often than not, am scared. Scare of listening to the horrors of what has become my country. I couldn't help but think back to how many things I have skimmed over because I was scared. But I went back, and read the whole thing and came back more understanding and connected than I feel I ever have with an article before. So why do I bother to post this? Why bother regurgitating the information instead of just spreading the news?
Part of me needs to do this. Part of me wished more people did this.
I hate feeling scared listening about ICE raids and feeling like I have to sit by and watch as the world I want to be proud of, to have faith in, crumbles around me. As the 'United States of America' becomes more and more sperated than ever.
I am also going through high school, and I get that's risky to admit in this day and age, but I hate feeling like I'm going to have to flee the country before I get my diploma. I hate feeling like something I should trust isn't reliable. So I write here. Part of it is to boost the original post, which you should 100% read. Part of it is to get my thoughts out of my head. Part of it is to show that I did my part, still do my part. Part of it is to help me get more informed. Now at the time I don't have any followers (unless you count Cheeze Bot - which I won't), but I do know that this will reach at least one person. Even if that one person is you, the reader. And if this post reaches at least one person, then my mission is a success. Because in the end one person can change everything. It probably won't be me, and it might not be you. But the great thing about us is that we have a choice. A choice to choose better. So protest the OrangeMan. Buy from local businesses, if you can. But if nothing else, choose to be better than the people who won't. Thank you for listening. Have a nice day, and I hope you are well.
(Also I'm sorry if I offended anyone - this post was meant to help not hurt)
The Past Parallels the Present: History Repeats Itself

I had the opportunity to visit the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum on my trip to D.C. The number of parallels from fascist Nazi Germany to what is currently happening in our country under this regime made me sick. Part of me wishes that I could ignore everything, block everything out and pretend nothing bad is happening. I wish that I could respect the “opinions” saying that some people don’t deserve rights. But I don't believe human rights should be dependent on opinions or something that can be taken away from some people. I don't mean to come off as offensive to anyone's beliefs in this article. I want to raise awareness for the unjust things happening in our country, and encourage critical thinking about the context of these events in relation to the past.
When I saw the piles of shoes, the piles of silverware, and all sorts of belongings taken from Jews who were sent into ghettos and concentration camps, I thought about the rosaries taken from migrants at the border. Despite how these rosaries are on a much smaller scale, it brings up the question: What else has been confiscated that we don't know of?
Fascism requires a scapegoat, or even multiple. Those who want control want us to focus on small dividing factors, blaming others for the problems in the country. This prevents us from uniting against the real systematic issues which affect us all and confronting wealth disparity.
While our country has not gotten to the extreme level of brutality as Nazi Germany, too many parallels are being brought up that cannot be ignored. It's not like the oppression that took place in Nazi Germany started from nowhere. Steps of slowly but ever-increasing brutality is how things like this begin. "First They Came" is a relatively well-known poem by Pastor Martin Niemöller in 1946, who originally supported Nazis, but changed his views and was later imprisoned for speaking out against Nazi control in churches.
First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me
For me, this is a reminder that we need to stand with unity and defend each other. While oppressors may not harm you initially, if they harm others, then there is a high possibility that you could eventually be affected by them, too.
Nazi Germany also restricted what businesses people could buy from. They wanted to prohibit people from supporting Jewish businesses and other international businesses, and I can’t help but compare this to the tariffs. Tariffs were presented as a way to strengthen our economy, but in reality, they risk isolating our country and limiting international relationships, as well as supporting the monopolization of businesses by the billionaire class.
History has a habit of repeating itself, especially when it is disregarded and its warnings are brushed off. I have a lot to learn, and I know that I can’t get everything right, but I hold dear the knowledge I already have. I will never let go of this information. We live in an era where information is being hidden. Books are banned, sites are blocked, and curriculums are edited. The past is essential in understanding the present and the future, and without this knowledge, we cannot prevent the same mistakes.
While this history is a valuable learning point for everyone, this same disaster, the Holocaust, is being used for genocidal “justification” of Palestinian genocide. Israeli soldiers believe they are defending their country by murdering innocent men, women, and children every day, starving them and destroying their homes. They are taught in schools to dehumanize these people, under the guise that the victims are Nazis. This is a prime example of how easily information and knowledge can be manipulated by the government to influence people's beliefs. It is also an example of modern day colonization of indigenous people, which happened to be one of the things that inspired the Holocaust in the first place. Specifically, the colonization and genocide of Native Americans.
I would say that we must fight to be on the right side of history, and at this point, the country as a whole is far from that. But we as individuals have an impact. We have a voice. I want to be on the right side of history. I want to raise my voice against this oppression, to anyone who will listen, even if I feel I must hide behind this keyboard and this username to do it. Even though I know that at the moment, this blog doesn’t reach a very large audience.
I want a future where I am safe. I want a future where I don’t feel the need to leave this country for college. These next four years, I will be completing high school, which for many people are fun and unforgettable years. But I don’t want the last four years of my childhood to have a backdrop of fascism and human decline.
There are so many more parallels to dive into, but there is only so much I can do, and only so much brutal reality I can digest at once for the sake of my own mental health. I don’t want this article to make you feel hopeless. There is so much bad news today, that it feels useless to even try to change anything. But if we just stand by and watch, the oppressors in the world are not held accountable. This is where it becomes crucial to find a balance between personal peace and awareness. Know that hope is not lost. You have an impact. If we all organize against oppressors who affect us all (or have the intention to) we can all have a much larger impact.
One of the most perplexing things I saw at the holocaust museum was not a part of any exhibit. It was a person at the museum. There was a young person dressed in MAGA gear from head to toe, at the Holocaust memorial museum. This made me confused, disappointed, and angry in a sense. It felt disrespectful to the victims of the Holocaust, especially gay victims of the Holocaust. After all, our current president made a post on social media with the pink triangle, used to identify and discriminate against gays during the Holocaust, crossed out.
But this also gave me a strange, and maybe illogical, feeling of hope. I hope that this person will take something away from this exhibit, make at least one connection from the Holocaust to what the president and the people who hold the most power in this world are proposing now, and have a bit of empathy. Maybe it is not too late to educate people and prevent things after all.
