This season did such a good job at making the characters' behavior and motivations make sense. I can't get over how good the writing is when it comes to giving the show a beginning, middle, and end. On a micro scale, each episode contains its own plot that fits within the whole of a season. The seasons themselves focusing on containing a story and not plotting for a potential next one. Then on a macro scale, you could look at all three seasons as a beginning, middle, and end. That's what happens when you have a show that has a pre-set start and finish. Shows nowadays (especially Netflix shows!) always feel like the writers are coming up with some new drama on a whim every season to keep things going and we lose the plot by the end of the series...
Here's just a snibbet of the like 3 hour livestream I went on the literal morning after watching Young Royals s1 for the first time (the show has been out for less than 48 hours) it's so crazy how far we've come
"Film making is all about gaze. So I feel like the more gazes we include, the more interesting stories we can tell. Also, representation is not only about colour, it's about class, age, everything." This is Rojda Skersöz talking about the representation of the real world we live in in every aspect of Young Royals' creation.
"It was really important to me to have mostly Swedish produced songs, and Swedish produced songs by POC women. Representation behind the camera is important as well."
When you're aware of all the layers that went into making this show, it helps to understand what story they are telling.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but Wille not having a plethora of hobbies doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a personality. It just means he’s a teenager who goes to school, does his homework, and hangs out with his friends/boyfriend in his free time. He used to play a sport but then he quit because he decided he doesn’t want to do it anymore. He tried out the choir but realized it wasn’t for him. All of this is like peak normal teenager. It doesn’t mean he’s not an interesting person. Not having a bunch of interests/hobbies doesn’t mean that he’s not funny, smart, kind, loyal, wtv.
ok but the way they've been on again off again for three seasons specifically shrouded in the colours of the swedish flag - showing us the monarchy has intruded on their relationship. even the good, even the private, and always, always the bad and the ugly.
💙💛
makes this white flag moment of surrender even more powerful. they're stripped of this blue and gold brushed over them by society, colourless and allowed to create their own existence - together, a blank slate. themselves, again and only - forever.
Omar's first interview before the premier of Young Royals. Love it so much.

What was your favorite thing about the YR ending and Wilmon's reunion? What is it about Wilmon that makes them so special?
Be well! 🌼
Heyyyy💜
Ohhh this is such a good question. My favorite thing about the ending was how cathartic it was. People say that it's cheesy but I don't see it like that at all. Life is not a single string of misery, and as much as Wilhelm and Simon parting ways made sense with the story, their reunion felt like a celebration of the spark that made us all root for them since the beginning. They don't have to contemplate the what-ifs of their togetherness anymore. Tragedies stick with us more because it feels raw and real and honest. But sometimes, joy and bliss can be just as raw and real and honest, and the ending felt exactly like that.
I think what truly makes Wilhelm and Simon's love special is how their love for each other pushes them to love themselves more. Simon gets strength from Wille's love to walk away from the things that hurt him, even if it means jeopardizing their togetherness at times. Wille reevaluates his life and his choices because Simon's love gives him the strength to walk away from the things that hurt him as well. Their love itself is not a weakness that brings them down at all, it's a force that leads to the better for them.
