can we just talk about how august is one of the most well-written antagonist characters in modern media? he’s done some unforgivable things but you still see him as human. he’s not just an evil person to make the storyline more interesting, he’s so much more complex than that. from a writer’s perspective i absolutely love his character and his storyline so much. also props to malte gårdinger for playing him so well. wow. just. wow.
Malte appreciation post for how he delivered the scene after the announcement of closing Hillerska.
You can actually see how it grows in him, boils and boils and boils up until...
The way it just stopped me in shock of how August reacted - even more bc of the fact that he is a person who is perceived as a leader of the school and how very important for the other students it was to have somebody who will tell them what to do in this chaos.
And August still has that, we could see in that scene when no one was listening to Vincent asking for attention.
And August successfully stopped them.
So yeah, maybe it wasn't going from a place of "I need to say something to make them feel better" in August. But he was honest and he said it with good effect.
Also, it really made me hold my breath for this scene. I felt pretty similar to when I watched season 1 Wille screaming at August at the gym.
IM SERIOUS THE GUY WHO PLAYS AUGUST IN YOUNG ROYALS NEEDS TO WIN AN AWARD FOR HIS PERFORMACE LIKE GIVE HIM HIS TENS HIS FLOWERS MALTE GARDINGER YOU ATE THAT ROLE UP ESPECIALLY IN SEASON 3
i think this, in my opinion, is one of the most important scenes in the entire show. both needed to apologize to the other (even if wille apologizes for something he wasn't involved in) because he felt it was the right thing to do, and august, was able to accept and (also) forgive himself for what he had done to wille. It's a beautiful scene.
