two parts combined in the video Both times alex falling back on learned behaviours "where did you get that? i asked you a question" + "you've got to learn to respect authority" and how he moves closer to Nigel both time, disregarding personal space (which he very much tries to avoid when Nigel does it) and taking a commanding tone, believing himself to genuinely have some position over nigel to warrant the tone, and how alex very much did not see them as equals (reminiscent of how their card dynamic played out - jack, the human, and nigel, the inanimate object, dehumanised and a tool) and how this violence and aggression is a result of his upbringing, of his fathers influence (the slap and how alex is physical with nigel, how Alex moves towards Nigel's items as though he were going to destroy them) and how its a rebellion because how come he has to act so inline with whats considered normal and standard and this guy gets to do whatever the hell he wants? why does nigel just get to stay in his room and have his weird-ass experiments and corpses and not have anyone say anything and be valued by his father enough so that he would take nigels side over his own son's? why cant alex have that? why does alex have to be perfect and have everything of his scrutinised and taken apart and nigel doesnt yet still gets his fathers adoration anyway? alex is someone who was overburdened by his parents (effectively smothered) and nigel is the exact opposite (neglected) and alex hates him for it because its a kind of freedom he doesnt have and not even going into how nigel is a byproduct of his father too but instead his weapon is not the fists and the tongue but a shotgun and how when his father was upset he threatened those he loved with a gun and when nigel was upset he threatened alex, who he loved, with a gun except neither had the intention to kill but both ended up in the worst way possible as a result of their horrible coping mechanisms but a coping mechanism is a coping mechanism and they had zero idea of anything else that would work so its all they had and a bad mechanism is still better than having none and letting yourself be vulnerable and also im doing really bad right now
