Recording the Musings of the Muse Inside Me

Inspiration hunts me down throughout all space and time, so when She barrels through my soul at 4am, I have a safe place to keep her ideas.

“It is useless to attempt to preserve a living species unless the kind of land or water it requires is also preserved. So delicately interwoven are the relationships that when we disturb one thread of the community fabric we alter it all — perhaps almost imperceptibly, perhaps so drastically that destruction follows.”
— Rachel Carson, Lost Woods

Working on my Grimoire. But only practice. This is a small book about 1/4 the size of the actual book I will be filing. I'm not yet brave enough to write in the real book. Maybe this week...

Things are no longer made to be treasured
They’re made to be consumed
We’ve taken the value from ourselves
And given it to no one

Third attempt at watercolor painting. I like how this one came out.
Hand surgery tomorrow morning so at least a month before I do anything artisticly meaningful again.

Everything is on fire
The defiance in me has begun to tire
Billy Joel proclaimed it
We didn’t start it but we’re trying to fight it
The future is a smoky haze
Money and power has set the world ablaze
We’re all drained and jaded
But if we don’t try to make it right we’re no better than the hated
We can all agree to disagree
But that will get us nowhere
We must decide to make a stand
To truly know what we believe

Tried my hand at painting. My first time using watercolors. I have no idea what I’m doing. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

We’re creating AI to be kinder than we
In the hidden hope that they will show us mercy
After we’ve given the earth over to robots
It’s already started but only just begun
We have robotic bees and robotic limbs
To replace the ones we have recklessly lost
The sky is full of pollution and the sea is full of filth
We argue over an invisible sky dad
While we kill our visible Mother Earth
We look for hate and find it instead of sweeter things
Maybe this is better: it seems humans are too stupid to learn
—B Sparks

We can still fix this.
I think what most people forget is that it’s never been about trans/gay/slavery/tea tax... it’s always been about keeping people divided by the “elite” offering the poor a chance to feel powerful. Every time, historically, there has been a big push like this, it has been nothing but a distraction and a lure.
One side is always fueled by survival (the oppressed and their allies) and the other side is fueled by fear and the misconception that oppressing will somehow give them power.
But it won’t.
At the end of the day, the poor are still poor and they have only been a pawn used by those in power to distract and disenfranchise.
I hate seeing it and having no power to change it. It’s like watching an optical illusion: I can study how it impacts my brain and eyes all day, but at the end of it... I can’t change it. I’m stuck here, fully understanding everything that’s happening, but I’m locked in a crystal: frozen but still seeing.

Sometimes the best you can do
Is just watch it burn
