But that’s okay! Because after the bad takes, you get to narrow down exactly what you wanted to convey instead of having a vague feeling of it. Then you get to try again with a clearer image/ emotion in your mind and hopefully get a better sentence. 🙂

8th AnniVRAINSary Celebration notebooks giveaway!

I'm a day late. Of course I am. When am I not late?

In my defense, it took longer than I'd have expected to have a genius idea and then speed-create prototypes to share with the world, hoping they will convey all the said genius of the idea.

(To be fair, it's probably not a genius idea at all. But it's an idea, and it somehow became important to me, so here we are.)

Happy belated AnniVRAINSary! As mentioned in the title, I'd like to celebrate the occasion with... notebooks, since apparently it's become my language of love.

Some context: It's been a little over a year since I finally began watching Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS, and... let's be honest, it's been a rather dark year. I would have never expected when I decided to press Play on these first episodes that the series would carry me through so much. After acknowledging it, I allowed myself to carry an "emotional support Playmaker" keychain and to even self-indulge in the designing and crafting of a small VRAINS-inspired notebook I bound for myself (and that I actually managed to share on the ACTUAL day of the AnniVRAINSary! Not so late anymore, are we? Both items follow me through my days, and call me materialistic if you want, but it does help me emotionally.

A few days ago, I shared that silly Do It For Yusaku crunchy poster. While delightfully shitposty, it was a good translation of my mindset about him (and the whole series.) What I didn't expect it was the amount of reblogs and likes, which made me realise that I was far from the only one with this mindset.

Hence, the project: 8 is not a round number, it's not a 10 or a 15 or one of those big markers, it's not even Yusaku's beloved 3. BUT it's my 1st anniVRAINSary, and considering all the context above, it feels quite important for me to celebrate. I thus spend the past 48 hours overthinking and prototyping and using Rain and Mino as my ever-suffering sounding boards, and reached this conclusion:

I WANT TO GIVE EMOTIONAL SUPPORT VRAINS NOTEBOOKS TO THOSE WHO WISH TO CELEBRATE TOO.

So here we are now after 2 days of tinkering with the absolute lack of tools I have at home:

Softcover and hardcover notebooks, size A6 and A7. (The colours are atrocious because my phone camera is atrocious, and the lines are not 100% straight because I don't have my guillotine at home. Please don't focus on this.)

All of them are made using the same typesetting as the one I designed for myself, except the translation is in English instead of French. It's delightfully spoilery of sub'd episode 120 of VRAINS, which means that you might want to watch the full series if you're to get this notebook. Look at me totally not encouraging you to watch VRAINS in its entirety if you haven't already 😇

I am confident that I have enough materials in my workshop to do around 15 softcover notebooks, and 3 to 5 hardback notebooks depending on the size. This means that I can do almost 20 emotional-support notebooks for VRAINS fans who want to carry the final dialogue with them at all time!

Alas, you got me. I hate it but there is a catch. While I'm glad to cover for materials, I won't be able to cover for shipping. International shipping has become ridiculously expensive, especially since I refuse to send anything without tracking anymore. I will thus ask you to participate to the shipping cost once the notebook is done. I estimate it at around 7€ to 13€ (depending on the size), but I am giving more details in the form.

I'll close the form either 2 weeks from now, on May 25, or when I reach the point where I don't have enough materials left. Don't hesitate to ask questions if you have them, or to share the project with your friends!
