“You have no shame,” Dorcas chastised, her hands firmly rooted to Marlene’s hips.
“That’s old news. Don’t pretend that you don’t like that about me.”
Marlene distracted herself arranging Dorcas’s braids into a neat bunch, then gently pressed her thumbs into the tense neck muscles underneath. Immediately, Dorcas’s shoulders relaxed and her chin dropped. If Marlene was an inch or two closer, Dorcas would be buried face first in her chest.
Missed opportunities, so many missed opportunities.
“Gods, that feels good…” Dorcas trailed off into a soft groan as Marlene attacked the knots in her shoulders.
“Let me guess, you’re working too much,” Marlene said, rubbing at a pressure point until Dorcas’s sharp wince eased.
“Too much is subjective. I do what needs doing.”
With a disapproving frown, Marlene splayed her hands and worked the trapezius muscle where Dorcas tended to grow stiff from hunching over her laptop. It was rather obvious that Dorcas wasn’t using any of her normal relaxation techniques. She was wound tighter than ever.
“No yoga?” she asked. “I’d say Pandora’s crystals aren’t helping.”
Dorcas shrugged lightly, then sighed. “I haven’t had the time to do much of anything lately.”
“At least use a vibrator, Cas, you need to relax.”
“Right, it’s not like Pandora will notice from four feet away,” she snarked. Dorcas tapped her fingers pensively against Marlene’s hips. “Privacy is expensive in SoHo.”
Marlene scrunched her nose. “Fair point. The shower then?”
“Hot water doesn’t last long enough.” Dorcas’s fingers slipped into the belt loops of Marlene’s jeans and pulled her closer. Then, she smoothed her palms over Marlene’s bum and squeezed. “You were right about one thing.”
“What’s that?” Marlene asked.
“Your bum is inspiring all sorts of stupid ideas.” Dorcas leaned forward and pressed her forehead to Marlene’s shoulder, closing the gap between them. “I missed this. Missed you.”
Marlene reminded herself to breathe. Her nerve endings lit up the moment Dorcas’s chest met hers and now sizzled in anticipation. “I missed you too. Still do.”
“Marly,” Dorcas whispered against her skin. “I really missed you.”
Marlene smiled at the nickname as she leaned into Dorcas’s embrace. “I’m right here, Cas. What do you need?”
“Just this…for now.”
“Kiss me?” Marlene nudged Dorcas’s cheek with her nose.
Dorcas hummed indecisively for a full thirty seconds before turning her head to brush her lips over Marlene’s cheek, then trailed down her jaw with hardly any pressure. It tickled more than it excited her.
“More.”
When Dorcas reached her right ear, she nibbled teasingly at the ear lobe before tracing the tip of her tongue up and around the shell of her ear. Marlene gave in to a quiet moan that was more vibrations than sound. Dorcas sucked Marlene’s ear lobe into her mouth and laved her tongue over it until Marlene shivered violently.
“Fuck.”
Dorcas grinned as she worked her way down Marlene’s neck. “So sensitive.
“Only for you,” Marlene said automatically. Her eyes fell closed as the delicious sensations sparked under her skin.
“Liar.”
Marlene tensed, then forced herself to relax. “That was a reflex…before I mean…at the pub. Couldn’t — fuck — stop it because I was…thinking about you.”
“What were you thinking about me while standing next to her?” Dorcas prompted. She nipped at Marlene’s collarbone.
“How close you were, how it would feel if you touched me,” Marlene said. Her head fell to the side to give Dorcas more room. “The way you scoffed at my drink.”
Dorcas’s breathy laugh against her skin was warm and sensual. “A Sex on the Beach? Really?”
“Apparently drinking a beer was in bad taste.”
“Your beer is a bad taste, but vodka?”
Marlene curled two fingers under Dorcas’s chin and met her eyes. “It didn’t matter though. I still couldn’t think about anything besides you. You’re in my head every moment of every day, it’s a wonder that you manage to accomplish so much.”
Dorcas pecked at her lips, just once, before pulling back. “What happened when I went to the loo?”
I lost my nerve.
“I tried to follow you,” Marlene admitted sheepishly, “and she wouldn’t let me go. James must have seen it, because he was right behind me a minute later. Then, Regulus intervened.”
Dorcas’s eyebrows shot up in surprise. “I assumed that it was Pandora who—”
“Not until later. When Regulus raised his voice, Lily tried to calm the situation, but then Pandora charged in…”
“And it exploded.”
Marlene nodded. “I still wanted to find you.”
“You didn’t have to, we’re not—”
“I wanted to explain. It was before you arrived and I was already several drinks in. I wasn’t trying to make you jealous, I swear.”
“Dangerous, more like,” Dorcas corrected, slipping her hands under Marlene’s shirt and stroking her lower back. “Narcissa Malfoy is a nasty piece of work.”
Marlene flinched at the name. “Yeah, I know.”
“Then why?”
“I needed a distraction. Your voice was in my head and I was surrounded by couples,” she admitted. “I wanted somewhere to direct all of the feelings that you stirred up.”
Dorcas lifted a hand to Marlene’s cheek and she immediately leaned into it. “I’d prefer you direct them to the source.”
If that’s not an invitation, then I don’t know what is.

When the rest of the world looks at the united states right now, we see a government who sends billions to support genocide but cannot help their own people starving on the streets.
We see a police force who won't go in to save children from school shootings, but deploy at a rapid rate to arrest peaceful protestors using their right to free speech to protest a genocide
America, you are a war mongering snake eating your own tail. You will protect and support war criminals in another country but let your own people starve and die
To the students bravely protesting now, we see your strength. We see what we saw when students protested the Vietnam War. We have faith you will prevail
