These are another version of Penguin Classics designed by Mr. Boddington's Studio. They're very pretty and whimsical! It would be another good set to own and display together.

This is a really cool coffee table book that I got for Christmas. Illustrator Jane Mount and Thessaly La Force went around and interviewed people who are successful in their own field and asked them what books their ideal bookshelf would contain. Mount then illustrated these books, and the adjacent page has a short story about why these people chose the books they did. For book nerds like myself, it's really fun to go through and learn about new books!

Another book to add to my reading list! I read the inside flap for Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore at the store the other day, and it intrigued me. When I came back and looked it up online, I found out the cover was actually glow in the dark. Too cool! It isn't just a fun effect either; it supports the story. I also enjoy the simplicity of the bright rectangles (meant to be books) and the handwritten type paired together. Credit goes to Rodrigo Corral.

Jessica Hische is one of my heroes. Her typography work is amazing. To design these covers Hische collaborated with Paul Buckley, Penguin's Art Director. Each cover features an illustrated letter that comes from the author's last name. Currently there are only six books for sale, but it will eventually become the entire alphabet. Now how awesome would it be to display all of them together on a shelf?!

Not only do I love books, but I am obsessed with collecting journals. Mirth & Co. is a new hand-sewn notebook company starting up in Austin, Texas, and I definitely wouldn't mind adding one of these to my collection.

I was instantly drawn to this book when I saw it on the shelves at Barnes and Noble. I've heard good things, so I would love to read it one day. Cover design by Roberto de Vicq.

This is the book I'm currently reading. The birds and the ampersand drew me in, but I love any story that revolves around magic and romance! The cover is made from beautiful paper artwork by Lynn Buckley.

Embroidered covers from Jillian Tamaki for Penguin Classics. My mom bought my sisters and I each one for Christmas, and oh are they are lovely! Check out her process here.
P.S. Isn't it great how artists love cats?
