Another Day Another Bug Hunt

I'm doing more playtesting for my game today, trying to get it ready for a public demo. EVERY SINGLE TIME I PLAYTEST I find 10 new bugs.

The big one for today? Turns out that in the beginning of the game, if you talk to a certain person too soon, you can get an item you're not supposed to have yet, and if you use said item before you're supposed to...the entire lighting system just COMPLETELY CRASHES FOR SOME REASON.

Not a hard fix, just have to stop the player from being able to get the item early...but still have NO IDEA why the bug broke the lighting specifically.

SUPERMAN 2025 WAS SO GOOD

When I heard about the "woke superman" I thought it was chud grifters over reacting to subtle themes or moments...it is not. The movie is NOT AT ALL SUBTLE about it's stance on the Israeli occupation of Palestine, or about the Israeli government committing atrocities on the behest of billionaire investors and land developers. I have no idea how James Gunn was allowed to make this movie to be honest.

10/10 Film.

Aside from political messaging, it is also honestly a perfect representation of superman, and is probably my favorite superman movie bar none.

James Gunn is so good at representing characters far better than their surface level traits and really spotlighting their nuances in a way a lot of writers just don't care enough to do, and I think that superman is such an easy character to get wrong and make insanely boring and one dimensional. People try to either make him a brainless boy scout, someone who is so "perfect" that they have nothing to say and every conflict is concluded by him showing up, or they try to make him a psychopathic murderer who doesn't care for human lives...(Zach Snyder...cough, cough)...

James Gunn does none of these things. There's actual stakes. You understand Superman's motivations. Superman gives a shit about people so hard that it's literally a detriment to himself. He never feels over or under powered compared to how Superman should be for the sake of plot or pacing.

Without getting into spoilers, this is also the first superman movie I can think of where Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen are actually important. Like more than just being there and/or being a love interest, they are integral to the plot LIKE THEY FUCKING SHOULD BE IN ALL SUPERMAN STORIES!

I can't get over how much I enjoyed this film Let James Gunn make or at least write all superhero movies, to be honest.
