THE PERFECT BLEND - CHAPTER 4
NEW YEAR’S EVE
James felt cold panic clutch at his throat, stealing his breath. Here it was, late afternoon on New Year’s Eve, and he had yet to secure a date for the gala. He’d had no time to continue his quest today, as he’d spent the entire day at the University, setting up his fireworks display and tinkering with the holographic projectors. Then he’d rushed home to change into his (unlucky) tuxedo. Not that he believed in such superstitious nonsense, but he couldn’t help but notice, nothing good ever came of him wearing that blasted black suit.
On his return trip to the Uni for another quick systems check before guests started to arrive, he’d walked by Pete’s Coffee Dimension and, despite running late, had been drawn inside. He’d been tempted by the thought of a nice, fortifying cup of something hot, maybe even the “best cuppa in London”, and in the back of his mind, had been thinking maybe the pretty barista he had met there on his last visit would be there this time too. He’d been hoping to bask in her quiet compassion, even for just a few minutes before his life turned completely to hell.
But the barista hadn’t been there, sadly, just some bloke, who was pleasant enough, James supposed. He’d told James the barista’s name was Rose (a beautiful name that suited her perfectly!) and had just disappeared behind the counter to prepare him a cuppa, spouting some cryptic, vague assurances that he had the answer to all of James’ problems.
James was not reassured. He ran his hands through his hair and down his face. His heart was thrashing out of his chest. Blimey, he needed that cuppa… If he could only get it down his anxiety-tight throat.

Day 31 - New Beginnings
31 Days of Ficmas with the Ninth Doctor and Rose Tyler: A collection of fluffy and terribly domestic Christmas-themed moments (in 100 words) as they experience the holidays together.
Inspired by @doctorroseprompts
Find more at (AO3) and (here).
** Look for the last installment to this series tomorrow!!
It’s New Year’s day, and after a long period of rest and respite with Jackie for the holiday season, the Doctor is anxious to head back to the TARDIS into the great unknown, to new beginnings with the love of his lives at his side. And Jack, too, of course.
“Now don’t be strangers, you hear?” Jackie warns, standing in the doorway. “Just because you’re shagging each other across the universe doesn’t mean I’ll let Rose forget her mum.”
“Mum!” Rose hisses, and the Doctor closes his eyes in horror. Jack laughs, clapping both him and Rose on the shoulders.

A Bottle of Bubbly
Characters: Ninth Doctor; Rose Tyler
Tags: Human AU; New Year’s; meet-cute; fluff; hurt/comfort;mentions of cheating; non-graphic mentions of war; drinking; strong language
Notes: Well, here I am again… fashionably late, as usual, an entry for the 31 Days of Ficmas. I wrote just two stories for Ficmas this year, and while I used multiple prompts for each, ironically, the Day 1 prompt, Snowed In, and the Day 31 prompt, New Beginnings, were the forces chiefly driving the muse for my first and second (last!) story, respectively.
The inspiration for this story was a random prompt I found online somewhere (I don’t even remember the exact wording…) The @doctorroseprompts prompt from the 31 Days of Ficmas, New Beginnings, was also inspiration for both main characters, although the words aren’t specifically stated in the text. But the spirit of them is strong and a guiding theme throughout the story. I also used the Ficmas prompts shopping and countdown, and the Winter Fic Bingo prompt night.
As always, my love and gratitude to my wonderful betas, @rose–nebula and mrsbertucci. Thank-you for making me better. I’m an eternal fiddler, so I fiddled with this since they saw it… but all mistakes are mine anyway!
Summary: Rose made directly for the liquor aisle, determined that what she really wanted to bring in the New Year was a bottle of bubbly. The shop was nearly deserted, except for the unlucky few employees who had drawn the short straw for the night’s graveyard shift, so she was shocked to find another customer in the liquor aisle, standing in front of the wine shelves, his hand around the neck of the very last bottle of sparkling wine.

A Bottle of Bubbly
Rose Tyler staggered out into the night. The pub door swung shut behind her, silencing the raucous shouts and cheers and endless chatter. As she stood on the doorstep, the bubble of silence clung around her like a hug, before dissipating into the city, replaced by the steady rumble of traffic. She took a deep breath, letting the cold air fill her lungs and clear the spinning of her head.
She was alone.
New Years-fucking-Eve and she was alone. Not exactly how she had planned her evening to go, but she swore to herself, it was the last bloody time, Jimmy Stone, her cheating ex-boyfriend, would ever get another chance to ruin her life.

All I Want for Christmas is You (Naked) - Chapter 1
This is for @chiaroscuroverse for @dwsecretsanta! Chapter 1/12, all posted between now and Christmas. (Hi!!!)
Masterpost
It’s 9xRose, and fair warning; this is super smutty/nsfw. It’s basically all smut and just enough plot for them to be smutty if different places. (So, @dwsmutfest)
Tagging @timepetalsprompts for multiple bingo squares:
Eccleston - smirking, nudity, sexy lounging Piper - Vintage fashion
And @doctorroseprompts because this is a bedsharing/fake relationship, only they’re in a real relationship pretending to Jackie it’s fake but someone else assumes (rightly) they’re together so they’re pretending to pretend to be together, and get put in a shared room. Follow?
Without further ado:
“Surely this can’t be proper, Signore.” The sweet, innocent blonde blushed even as she allowed him to lead her to his bedroom.

Christmas Dinner
Written for @timepetalsprompts, this is for the “kitchen disasters” prompt. Fluffity fluff with a small slice of sweet hurt/comfort.
Well guys, I survived the tip to Pittsburgh and I actually managed to write a little fic, too. Woohoo! I read over this several times, but I’m sure there are probably still mistakes. My bad. I hope it’s enjoyable anyway! :)

Christmas Dinner
December on the outskirts of London that year was decidedly chilly. Snow flurries blew around, sticking to the lawn, but melting on the hard asphalt of the roadway. A light scent of pine added to the Christmas-y feeling as people bustled here and there, getting ready for the big day.
Rose decided on rather short notice that she wanted to host the family meal for their first Christmas in Pete’s world. Despite Jackie’s insistence that they should come to the mansion, she’d remained steadfast, promising she’d be fine preparing everything on her own. They’d moved into their home a few months before and she wanted to do something that felt grown up.
Everyone was due to arrive in an hour and a half’s time and nothing was going according to plan. The potatoes were boiling over, the oven was chiming because it was time to baste the turkey again, and the rolls hadn’t risen, despite Rose following the instructions exactly. She ran over to turn down the heat on the burner, blowing gently on the boiling potatoes. Upon opening the oven, a hot puff of steamy heat hit her square in the face and she gasped before stepping aside. Anxious and annoyed, she blew at a wisp of stray hair and pulled out the large roasting pan, carefully basting the turkey before replacing the tin foil and sliding it back in the oven.
“Smells wonderful in here,” the Doctor said softly as he entered, dressed for dinner.
She sighed. “Thanks.”
“Need a hand?” he asked, smiling as he surveyed the kitchen.
She shook her head, feeling flustered and helpless. “I don’t know. The rolls haven’t risen and the carrots need done and I haven’t gotten started with the beans and…” she trailed off, suddenly feeling very overwhelmed. “The potatoes were boiling over, and now,” she glanced at the stove. “God, I turned them all the way off and they need to cook!” She ran over and turned the gas back on the burner. “What was I thinking, right?” Her lip wobbled.

My One and Only
Pairing: Ten x Rose Rating: G Words: ~2.1k Summary: When the Doctor’s surprise for Rose literally backfires, she is left with multiple miniature Doctors in the TARDIS on Christmas Eve.
AO3
It was a bit finicky, and he’d need to go 1.2 thousand years into the future to get the extension part, but he could do it; he could make Rose’s Christmas wish come true. She had made it so casually yet sincerely that the Doctor was sure she would be both pleased and surprised when he made it happen. It was Christmas Eve, and earlier that day they were walking about town and passed by a number of homeless shelters and soup kitchens. They were overflowing with people, lined up around the corner and down the street, but inside Rose could see the dwindling supply of food.
“I wish they could have a proper Christmas dinner, too,” she said. “Like us.”
She rested her head on his arm and he gave her hand an extra squeeze. He knew if Rose Tyler had the money she would. The cogs in his head started working. Maybe there was a way to share their Christmas dinner.

Summary: A simple exercise in customer service lands Rose Tyler and her customer, James Noble, in a spot of trouble when Henrik’s locks its doors for the holiday and they’re still inside. In order to escape they’ll need to work together, but can they stop blaming one another long enough to do so?
Notes: I posted this earlier, but wanted to change some things so if you read it during that span of twenty minutes that I had it up it’s changed slightly.

A Snowy Surprise 1/2
After the dimension cannon landed Rose in the middle of a blizzard, she found a stranger buried in the snow. But was he truly a stranger?
Eight/Rose, Ten/Rose
For @doctorroseprompts 31 days of Ficmas, shiver
PREVIOUSLY TITLED A CHRISTMAS SURPRISE
AO3 | FF.NET
The day had not gone as the Doctor had planned. He had simply wanted a nice walk through the woods, and perhaps to meet one of the Euripideans who supposedly lived in in burrows in the hills surrounding the forest.
Well, he’d met them. And as it turned out, their reputation for being peaceable was drastically overstated.
The natives had not appreciated an outsider entering their village, and he had been driven out at spear-point. They only turned back from their pursuit when the blizzard started.
He pulled his frock coat tight around his body and braced himself as he walked straight into the wind and driving snow. Velvet really wasn’t a very warm material, he was discovering. And typically that wouldn’t bother him, but typically, he hadn’t received a head wound after tripping over a snow-covered rock.
The Doctor gingerly touched the gash on his forehead. “Not bleeding anymore at least,” he noted, when his fingers didn’t find more blood. “Well, that’s one positive thing.”
The snow swirling around him only added to his dizziness. He stumbled against a tree and waited for his head to stop spinning.
“Almost to the TARDIS,” he told himself, though he wasn’t sure if it was the truth. He could feel the ship in his mind, but in his addled state, he wasn’t certain where exactly she was.
With the cold settling into his bones, he pushed off from the tree and started walking again. The snow was thick enough now that he could barely see two feet in front of his face.
For instance, he didn’t see the tree root sticking up out of the ground, not until he tripped over it. His arms flailed as he tried to stay upright, but it was no use.
The fall knocked the wind out of him and multiplied the pain in his head by a hundred. The cold snow sucked at his strength, and the Doctor couldn’t find the energy to move out of the snowbank.
The TARDIS’ hum turned shrill and alarmed, but the Doctor shook his head woozily. “Don’t worry, old girl,” he said, somewhat deliriously. “It’s nothing regeneration can’t fix.”
Time shifted around him, and as the Doctor faded from consciousness, he thought he heard a woman say, “I want you safe, my Doctor.”

Nevermind the Sabre-Tooth
Notes: Here is my @dwsecretsanta gift for @megabadbunny, who asked for Tentoo and Rose on their first trip in the new Tardis! Fluff with a little hurt-comfort (eta: and a little flangst, to be fair). Hope you like it!! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!
Pairing: Tentoo x Rose
Summary: The Doctor & Rose take the baby Tardis for a Christmastime spin, but end up console room camping when it goes a bit wrong. (unbeta’d)
Word count: ~5500
Rating: M
AO3 / TSP
Jackie Tyler peered dubiously through the door of a bigger-on-the-inside blue box parked on a side street in Cardiff. “I dunno. At least the other one knew what it was doin’, but I don’t want to find myself skating on a ring of Saturn.”
Rose laughed. “No one’s even near the console! You don’t have to come in. Anyway, I’m really glad you wanted to see us off. ”
“Well, looks the same as the other if not quite so tall.”
“Yeah, ’spose we’re fond of this look. Anyway, the Doctor thinks she’ll grow bigger than the three main rooms when we start moving in and out of the vortex as well as making distance hops. The rift is good for her, but it’s not quite enough.”
“Is the larder well-stocked? You might get stuck on Mars and then what would you eat?”
“Yes, but stop with the planets! It’s a simple time travel on Earth.”
“Well, not precisely,” the Doctor said as he stepped in. “Space is inseparable from time travel, because the earth is in constant motion through space.” Rose gave him a look from behind her mother’s head. “But, right, staying within the earth’s gravitational field. So, not far.”
Jackie sighed and hugged him. “Promise me you’re being safe. I want you back for Christmas dinner.”
The Doctor didn’t bother protesting the affection. “I promise, Jackie, safe as houses.”
“Where are you going, anyway? Or, uh, what year?”
The Doctor gave Rose an exaggerated wink and clicked his tongue. “That part is the surprise I have for Rose’s Christmas!”
He dragged his hand across Rose’s back and headed up the walkway. She watched him go with a wave of affection. He was suited up for the occasion—blue pinstripes with shirt and tie, black Chucks, sexy specs. It was really happening. Her heart flipped.

Reindeer Games (1/25)
Summary: Rose and the Doctor find their new relationship tested in order to save a friend.
A/N: This is the sequel to Counting Down, and while it’s not completely necessary to have read that first, it will provide a better understanding of the first few chapters especially. Beta’d by the super fabulous almondina, who is ultimately responsible for there being a sequel in the first place. Sometimes I feel like she’s more on co-author status with this story because her ideas are so amazing. Thank you dear.

Breaking the Rules
nine x rose
a smattering of jack harkness
~1.5k
“Don’t you worry that he can feel your eyes on him?”
Rose jumps, startled by Jack’s voice. “What’s it matter if I’m looking at him?”
Jack laughs, low and suggestive. “You’re not looking at him. You’re undressing him with your eyes.”
Her eyes widen. “Jack!”
With a smirk, he says, “I notice you’re not denying it.”
“I–”
Jack slings an arm across her shoulders and murmurs right into her ear. “You’re being too subtle, Rose. You’ve tried being nice. I think it’s time to be a little naughty.”
She can feel her face heat. “I’m not–”
He squeezes her shoulder, a sideways hug. “Yes you are, Rose. Sometimes it’s okay to break the rules. This is absolutely one of those times.” He kisses her cheek and backs toward the corridor to his room. “Go on now, I’ll make myself scarce.”
Panic wells up inside her, but Jack must see it because he takes her by the shoulders, gently, and says, “He wants it too, you know. He watches you more than you watch him. Which, by the way, I can hardly believe is possible. You two really need to work things out, if only so I don’t have to watch you pining for each other.”
She opens her mouth to protest but he puts a finger to her lips. “Go on. Get your man. Or, your Time Lord, I guess. If you don’t…” He looks over her shoulder at the Doctor then looks back at her with a smirk, “maybe I’ll take a shot at him myself.” He winks.

The trill of Rose’s mobile penetrated the sated fog occupying Rose’s mind, and she lifted her head off her pillow to blink blearily at the lit-up screen.
“Wha’?”
“Your mobile,” the Doctor grunted, head nestled in the small of her back.
