Allen never felt too strongly about having kids or not 

That wasn’t exactly a priority for him, busy man that he was 

Of course, after meeting his S/O and getting a taste of domestic life, he suddenly can’t stop thinking about it 

He brings it up in passing, attempting to be casual about it, and when his S/O off-handedly mentions that they would love to have children with him, they’re alarmed by his enthusiasm 

Either way, it doesn’t take long for there to be multiple additions to his little family

Despite wanting them, Allen knows jack shit about taking care of kids 

He does his best though, and is regularly looking advice up 

‘can babies die if they don’t burp’

‘how to tell if child is full’

‘baby not crawling yet’

‘can babies hate you’

He gets the hang of it though 

Eventually 

Now, when his kids get older, he quickly realizes parenting gets much more difficult

“DAVID, CAN WE GET ICE-CREAM?”

“Stop calling me that…and yeah why not”

His busy work schedule makes it difficult to spend time with his children, so naturally he isn’t as close to them as he would like 

Plus, they prefer his S/O’s company since they’re the one doing most of the child rearing anyway

Sometimes Allen has to bring his kids to work (can’t find a babysitter and honestly nobody in the station minds) and he’s always prepared 

His office becomes a mini-daycare room, which his colleagues find hilarious 

Nothing’s funnier than Allen grilling someone while bouncing a toddler on his lap, old SpongeBob episodes (Allen’s choice) playing in the background 

He is AWFUL at censoring his words 

Meaning his house is filled with innocent potty-mouths 

“Daddy, why do you hate that fucking prick?” :D

“You’re gonna get me killed”

Used to mock Dad Jokes, but then starts to tell them unironically 

His children LOVE having him toss them up in the air or swing them around 

He uh… definitely never almost dropped a kid before… 

Allen once threw himself on the ground to catch his toddler, who was jumping on the couch and lost balance

Best Dad Award right there (but also kinda his fault for not paying attention in the first place lol)

Now, as for show and tell…

Allen is finally able to make it and feels like a Real Parent standing with his fellow Dads™

And when it’s his kid’s turn to present?

“My daddy shoots people!”

His S/O just laughs at his mortified face

Hank’s only about 9-10 years older than Allen

And since he’s such a dedicated police officer, much like Allen, you’re not in the picture until much later in his life 

Which means Allen is significantly older than you - enough to get weird looks when you’re together at any rate

Not that this bothers you (bothers the fuck out of Allen though) 

The two of you met when you accompanied Hank to one of them fancy police balls/galas 

You wandered off while Hank spoke with his friends/colleagues and found yourself at the bar

At this time, you’re barely old enough to drink 

You’re not sure what to get, but then a really, really handsome man comes up and orders straight whiskey 

You gawk just because you’ve never seen anybody that fine, but either he doesn’t notice or doesn’t care 

In a misguided way to impress him, you boldly (if not stupidly) ask the bartender for the same drink, and the man chuckles when he hears your request

“You sure you can handle that?”

“Yeah, of course I can.”

Spoiler: you can’t 

Allen laughs when you almost spit the drink out, and asks the bartender for a glass of water for you 

The two of you end up chatting (read: flirting) for a while, and you find out he’s in the SWAT team 

You mentally swoon because if that ain’t the hottest thing you’ve ever heard

Eventually Hank comes looking for you and he’s a little surprised you’re with Allen of all people 

Introduces you as his daughter and Allen suddenly looks much less confident than before 

You have to part ways for the time being, but before leaving you ask him if he wants to exchange phone numbers (the whiskey’s fault, of course)

He hesitates 

Barely

After that, the two of you are always in touch and it doesn’t take long for a romantic relationship to blossom 

Allen initially resists when you first tell him your age (he could technically be your father, for God’s sake!) but after getting it through his thick skull that you like him for him, and you really don’t give a fuck about the age gap or what anyone thinks of it, he gives in

Hank’s reaction? 

“Huh? You actually get along with that prick?”

Yeah, Dad

You do

The two of you get married, which is… interesting for many people 

Allen does get teased about it from time to time, but most of his team knows not to fuck with him too much unless they really want to suffer 

Someone once called him a cradle robber

They didn’t last long at the station

You get a few snide comments thrown your way every now and then but you really don’t care

You’re married to a fuckin’ SWAT Captain, after all 

Plus, the man looks really good under all that gear 

You know for a fact men your age can’t possibly compare to what Allen’s packing 

(and if you decide to have kids, you know that won’t be an issue either) 

Sometimes you feel out of the loop when you visit Hank because he and Allen bond over Millennial nonsense 

But at least they get along
